Stopped by for a quick lunch and this spot was adorable. Conveniently placed in the mall and easy to get seated. Our server was quick to refill drinks and also get the check when it was time to go. I know that this sushi is never too notch and I don't to a spot like this looking for the best sushi ever, but the nigiri pieces had a decent fish to rice ratio, didn't get me sick, and they had a good variety in what was coming down the line. If you want sushi in a quick, fun format, this is definitely that spot for you!

Wasabi is located within Tyson's mall on the first floor. It has sushi that is premade and is delicious for something quick! Service is good and you can sit at the little belt or at a booth.

We were seated right away by friendly staff. I can say this place was very clean as you can see them continuously cleaning. Service is 10/10 as all staff were attentive, not in an annoying way where you can't enjoy yourself. Concept of a rotating sushi bar was neat to see in person. Unfortunately, you could compare this sushi to grocery store sushi. Not flavorful. Even the most basic rolls like the shrimp tempura roll were underwhelming. Weird concepts like peanut butter jelly rolls were up for grabs too... You could go for the convenience and the experience. But I would not go here for any special events.

Just my opinion I think you have to rank the restaurant regarding where it's located in the purpose of serving. This is a small version of the sushi places that you normally would frequent. The staff is friendly. The Sushi a conveyor belt was kind of a cool idea. Things are covered so that it protects the Health version of the sushi that's being served. The staff made this a decent experience. The sushi wasn't terrible and the staff continually was cleaning. Recognize that the restaurant will shut down at 7 o'clock on a Sunday evening.

Was at the mall and started feeling hungry, so I finally decided to check out that sushi spot I always walk past and honestly? Glad I did. Service was on point, super friendly and fast. The setup is cool: you sit at a table while sushi rolls by you on a conveyor belt. You just grab what looks good, no waiting around. Each plate is color-coded by price, which makes it easy to keep track (or not, if you're feeling adventurous). I was starving so I didn't even catch all the names of what I tried but every plate I grabbed was solid. Super fresh, tasty, and surprisingly good for showing up around 8pm when you'd expect things to slow down (they close at 9:30pm). Price-wise? Affordable and worth it, especially for the experience. Definitely recommend if you're craving a quick sushi break or just want a fun dinner spot at the mall.

It's not the best sushi I've ever had, but not bad for a spot in the mall and the novelty of the revolving sushi concept is worth a visit. I've been to a couple different revolving sushi places and I will say I appreciate that Wasabi kept their belt well stocked and fresh - there was always something to choose from and there were new items each time the belt made it back around Most of the plates were the more expensive $6.50 red ones but they had 4-5 pcs on them so not too bad. I just wish they had more of the smaller plates so I could've tried more things.

12/13/24 The place is unique. The ambience is pleasing. The food is delicious. The prices should be right...but it isn't. The general manager has known about this error, and has failed to do anything about it since September 2024...when we discovered this error. The problem has been fixed again by my server, but if you don't look at the prices, let alone the color of the plates, you might find yourself being upcharged for a price that says differently on the menu. So as Ra's Al Ghul once said "mind your surroundings." I have checked with this place three different times now and this place is looking at three strikes...this could get dangerous. "Money's the motivation, money's the conversation"...it certainly was tonight and the last two times as well. It will for other customers too. You shouldn't play with your customers like that cause they might start passing you. Your servers obviously have dealt with these mistakes and they don't like looking like fools. They are not to be played with and neither are your customers. So, if everything rides on tonight, This moment, you didn't own it. Please for the love your business, customers and staff UPDATE YOUR MENUS.

Was hanging out with some friends at the mall and they saw the revolving sushi below and wanted to check it out. I've been here before and they hadn't so they wanted to try this out! We were seated at a bar like area on the side. Our server was truly nice. We were about to start eating and starting to pick items from the revolving food coming by... suddenly a moth appeared on our table. We were surprised and let the server know. He immediately removed it. But then when we were choosing our items again and I was taking photos admiring the food, I unfortunately saw a bug moving inside the seaweed. We lost our appetite and decided. At that point we all decided not to eat here.

    Okay...I'm full.

It sushi on a conveyor belt. If you think it's going to be the best sushi you've ever eaten then you clearly fail to understand the concept of conveyor belt delivery. Is it okay? Sure. The rice was good and the rolls were evenly cut. The blue crab rolls were the best but you might want to steer clear of the seared salmon. This is a great place if you're famished and in a hurry because the food is flying by fast and furious which is the point of their delivery mechanism. If it looked like there was a seat open, I'd come back.

The sushi was really good, they had a great variety of food. The custard bao? So good. Tasted like a soft donut. The staff was helpful at explaining how the process works. My mom and I went there for Mother's Day and had a great time.

Wasabi is an interesting and unique place, where is basically a pick and eat sushi spot on a conveyer belt. It wasn't the best sushi in the world but it was tasty nonetheless. It's in the middle of Tyson's mall so I would say it's more of a fish tank kind of ambiance and you're the fish haha. The service for water refills and drink refills were also on point so no complaints there.

One of my fave kind of place - sushi go rounds. First discovered on my Japan forays. Happy to find in DC metro area. Promptly greeted, sat and approached. Was explained the process quickly and then just started pulling plates. Some rolls, some nigiri. Definitely dessert. I had the green tea cheesecake to top it off. A definite good decision!when in DC metro, stop in. Legit.

Wasabi - made in the house, soy sauce- made in the house by chef recipes. Soy sauce is home made!!!! Thick ,complex, tangy and not salty, amazing!!! I ordered sashimi combo this time and it's served with not white lousy rice, but takikomi gohan( please try it). This is one of the most complex flavor combinations in rice I ever had. I felt dashi broth, mirin, tons of veggies and even beans. Sooo nicely served with fish cake flowers on top. Sashimi itself was outstanding, fish selection was excellent, with scallops, squid and freshest cuts of fishes. Previous times I tried rolls and it was amazing as well. So,prices are high, this is not sushi eatery where you can casually grab your lunch. Parking was easy they had some right in the front of the restaurant reserved for customers as well as a garage for more parking spaces if it got crowded. Walking inside it is a small cozy space and because I was by myself I was seated at the sushi bar. I told the sushi maker my food order and the waitress my order for wine. I tried the Merlot and Pinot noir which the merlot was so luscious I got another glass. So my order was fries shrimp shumai, Ile yellowtail combo which came with a yellow tail sashimi, spicy yellow tail roll I added cream cheese, and yellowtail nigiri. So fresh and so pretty how it came out! Aesthetically pleasing top notch! They gave me a few freebies seaweed salad and edamame and a side dish of pickled condiments very tasty. So being the big back that I am I ordered more to go and it was the Ile salmon combo and substituted spicy salmon roll with spicy tuna roll add cream cheese. I really loved how they package the to go order kept my sushi fresh until it the next day. I will definitely stop here again after the dentist...lol.

I was scrolling through the items and i gave their mango roll a chance, classic salmon avocado & the Bethesda. The fish was that chewy awful texture, which was already a red flag for me, but what ended up absolutely ruining every single roll was the fact they used an avocado that wasn't ripe yet. Avocado in every single roll, so basically they were all horrible. What kind of sushi place would add unripe avocados to their rolls? It's not like avocados are cheap, those little f***ers are a big reason why sushi is expensive, I would hope they are at least edible. I am so angry I just spent so much money for not even ONE roll to be edible, and not just the money, took them close to 40 minutes to get here, now everything else is closed and we are stuck with this. I've never been to the actual location, so I can't speak on the ambiance, but I image they are just as careless. Quality of the ingredients wasn't good, carelessness to use unripe avocados, and just the fact that I spent so much to eat nothing, really upset me. I'm just very disappointed, won't be ordering from this place again. Not sure how they have so many locations. Please work on the quality. We'll see what they do with their customer service...

My adventurous eater and I tried out Sushi Koji after rugby yesterday. It was a real treat. Our…read moreserver was very helpful in helping us decide what to get, and we thought we would try sashimi (after reading reviews about the place) as well as noodles. Fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! We ordered Otoro (fatty tuna) and sake belly (salmon belly) sashimi, listed as 3 pieces each. We also ordered tempura udon, a shrimp tempura roll*, takoyaki, and mentaiko butter udon (off the specials menu). Let me begin by saying the space is clean, roomy, and well-decorated. We enjoyed looking at the artwork and figurines, which included anime figures that we recognized. There were many tables, and though they may be physically close together, there is enough separation to be comfortable without being on top of each other or feeling cramped. There was a family of five that was seated next to us partway through the meal, and I never felt like the noise level changed or that we suddenly felt as if there were more people around. The takoyaki came out covered in bonito flakes. The sauce was a perfect blend of tempered spicy mayo as my adventurous eater enjoyed it without being overwhelmed by heat. The bites were well-sized as not to be too large, but we were able to bite in without burning our tongues our with the right balance of batter and octopus, and we both enjoyed it greatly. The sashimi came out with the shrimp tempura roll on a beautifully arranged boat - 4 pieces each! We each tried two pieces of otoro and sake belly, and the pieces just melted into our mouth. The otoro was garnished with what appeared to be hint of wasabi and maybe chopped jalapeño, which was too much for my adventurous eater to try, so I gently scraped it off. Neither of us were able to taste anything but the well-chosen slices of fatty tuna, which were a hit. We then tried the sake belly which were garnished with a sliver of fried garlic and garlic paste. Again, I scraped it off for the adventurous eater, who then raved about how delicious it was! I tried it with the garlic and agreed. The garlic was perfectly fried, and was the right amount not to overwhelm the delicate buttery texture and flavor of the salmon belly. Although, I will admit - while it's a nice flavor to add, the sashimi itself didn't need anything to be added. The tempura udon came out, with perfectly battered pieces - 2 shrimp, an asparagus, an onion ring, a slice of sweet potato, and a slice of eggplant. My adventurous eater attacked the shrimp while I munched on veggies. The batter was crispy, light, and not greasy. My mentaiko butter udon came out and I am so glad I ordered it! There was a little nest of noodles, with two halves of a soft-boiled egg, and plenty of creamy sauce. The menu described the dish as buttery and umami and it did not deceive. The udon was perfectly chewy and slurpable, coated with delicious creamy sauce. I debating mixing in the eggs because they looked so perfect, so I dipped one half in the sauce instead and ate that whole, before mixing in the other half into my bowl. Even my adventurous eater tried a little bit of my udon and agreed that it was delicious! Not having had mentaiko butter before, I looked it up before writing this review. The dish is described as being a spicy-fish roe butter sauce, but what we are talking about is a very mild heat. The dish was warming, tasty, and very comforting. It was also surprisingly light considering the buttery richness of the flavors. I finished every last bit of the noodles in my bowl and drank the rest of the sauce, with all the fish roe stirred in. I may have also commented a couple of times on how phenomenal the dish was. That was when our server shared that it was the first day it had been on the menu, so they were looking for feedback. I would say that the dish alone is worth checking out, but I feel like you will keep coming back due to the quality of everything else. I think this place is a gem and I will definitely look for excuses to return to Oakton to eat there again. Between the friendly service, the cheerful ambiance, and the amazing food, this is hitting all the right notes! * My adventurous eater filled up on everything else before even getting to the shrimp tempura roll, so we ended up packing up the rest of the udon and the shrimp tempura roll to bring home. Due to life, the roll never made it into the fridge, so we tragically had to toss it without trying it. I wish I could tell you how it was, but I can say the roll was beautifully formed and served and looked absolutely delicious. This is where I wish I had taken pictures of everything.

I initially thought it would be mostly rolls, but it leaned more toward nigiri. That said, everything was super fresh and really well prepared, so no complaints there. I recently started eating seafood again after years of avoiding it, so I have been easing into it, and this was actually a really good place to do that. The fish tasted fresh, clean, and not overly fishy, which made it a lot easier to enjoy. The Osaka roll, which our server recommended, was really good, but my favorite was definitely the paradise roll from the sushi boat. Anything with shrimp tempura is a win for me, and this one hit the spot. The ambiance is cute, cozy, and on the smaller side, which made the whole experience feel more quiet and intimate. It did not feel rushed at all, which I appreciated, especially since we were breaking our fast. We ended up taking a lot of food to go because the portions were so generous, and surprisingly, everything still tasted fresh and delicious even the next two days. The only downside is that it is definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, portions, and overall experience helped justify it. Overall, great quality sushi, generous portions, and a calm, intimate vibe. Definitely a spot I would come back to, especially if I am in the mood for fresh sushi without a loud or hectic atmosphere.

Because you know, they are serving raw fish and those fish are caught by fishermen. If you love sushi, I'm fairly certain you cannot go wrong at Tachibana McLean. It's hard to believe the years I spent here might have been a part of the glory days at Tachibana. When they lost their Itamae and were weathered by covid lockdowns, I think the pace of service changed. But the quality of food never has and I've enjoyed every meal here before and since. This is a classic sushi restaurant so you will not get any sort of innovative fusion rolls here. What you will get is a strict adherence to old school tradition and a focus on quality that is worth a visit. It's hard to say favorite dishes because there are so many delicious choices here. If you are sitting at the main sushi bar, you first may enjoy a free gift of whatever the Ittamae is featuring. If you like that fish, then order more of it. For sushi and sashimi, get what you enjoy here because it's fresh and lovely. Do not miss the Philadelphia rolls here because they are extra creamy and the scallions make them a real delight. I also love the New York roll and the spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls. Back in the day, my go-to was a spicy, crunchy salmon roll. This was always a special request but they humored me since I was a regular. I was also forever asking for a very thin slice of jalapeño in my tuna roll but you could only get that in the less-friendly and ambient sushi cafe down the street. Years later, times have changed and you can now order jalapeños, as well as tempura crumbs and spicy mayo on any roll. They have so many vegetarian rolls here, as well, so that is a whole experience if choose. You can order Japanese pickles, fermented soybean and scallion rolls, a plum and shiso roll, a gourd roll, a cucumber roll and an avocado roll. I so enjoy a big plate of veggie and shrimp tempura here. The tempura batter is not thick and just right. I also have very much liked the katsu's here: either crispy Berkshire pork loin or crispy chicken. It's an old familiar taste which you should not miss out on. The bento dinner boxes are also awesome. I usually get salmon, beef negimake, shrimp and veggie tempura, shumai dumplings and salmon sashimi. A delightful treat. The buckwheat noodles and udon soups are a bit plain and while they are classically good, i more enjoy the sushi. As for the cold sake, I recommend: the Shochikubai Nigori, the Junmai Ginjo and the cloudy pearl junmai if it's on hand. They also have Choya plum wine and a beer and wine list. You will love the green tea presentation in the gorgeous pottery, as well as that they are diligent on tea refills. Their desserts are nice but make sure you at least taste green tea ice cream once. You can get it here! It's not easy to find this at restaurants, even sushi restaurants, recently.
