Beautiful Art in the Yoga Studio

This is my #1 place to go for exercise. There is yoga, spinning, and rowing. The instructors are so knowledgeable and kind. Melissa is my favorite! She empowers us to work for it and to love ourselves. Plus, her great words of encouragement goes a long way. I have noticed a difference in me! I am so appreciative and will continue to spread the word. Thank You, Warrior One! Namaste, Shonda Dailey

Note: I have only participated in the Community Yoga class offered Saturdays at 4:15. This 45-minute class is a gift to the community and we are grateful. Rotating instructors give unique flavor to this invigorating and focusing experience. I have never left a session disappointed or less than prepared to take whatever life may throw at me off the mat. That speaks to the quality of the class. Yogis quickly make you feel welcome and are there to support you throughout the experience. The space may seem small, but it holds a lot of heart. Beautifully-appointed with all manner of class supports (blocks, straps, etc.), not to mention inspirational artwork and messages to keep you present and grounded...well, don't take my word for it. Get your inner yogi on and be that Warrior One. Namaste

    Candlelit yin class! So peaceful

Joining warrior one was one of the best decisions I've ever made! I have been going for one month now and never felt more physically and mentally fit before. The studio consists of two long rooms right next to each other, the one on the left serves as the spinning studio and the one on the right is where most of the yoga classes happen. They offer a variety of classes, spinning, hot power, cool power, express classes, yin/slow deep stretch, combination classes, meditations etc. I love it because everyday there is something depending on my mood and availability. Classes start as early as 5 am and go until 8 pm. They use the mind, body app/website so signing up for classes is super easy! You can pay for one class at a time, buy packages or auto pay unlimited (check the site for prices!). Each teacher has their own style and so far I've enjoyed them all! They all truly care about the well being of their students and are passionate about yoga and supporting you on your journey. Pro tips: *parking in the lot is limited (remember to try street parking!) so make sure and leave time for that *bring your own mat but they do have some if you forget. They also provide hand towels, blocks and bolsters for classes that need it *for spin class, no special shoes needed, just wear your sneakers! *each studio has cubby holes, bathrooms and filtered cold water to fill your bottles

Contemplate the solar system as you unwind.

What can I say! I love Project 7 Yoga!…read more I have been coming to this studio on and off for years (starting back in 2018-ish). During the earlier stages of my time coming here, I'd usually only go to their Yin / Deep Stretch classes because I had a pretty solid work-out regime outside of yoga. So, the deep stretching was a great balance to my primarily cardio-based routine. It was not until last year, that I fully committed to a membership and it's been the best decision I have ever made. Though I am not a complete novice to the practice of yoga (as I have been doing it on and off with no real consistency since middle school when it was recommended as physical therapy to me by my doctor), I am a novice to being consistent with my practice of yoga. Signing up for a membership, has been the game changer. The instructors are amazing. Patient yet encouraging. They take the time to learn your face (and name) which just makes attending the studio feel that just more like a supportive friend group. Though, they offer primarily heat based classes, do not FEAR it. The heat is bearable. It's almost as if with each passing move you are sweating out the negative energy of the day, toxins, and any bad vibes you may have had following you that day. You leave feeling refreshed, inspired and deeply proud of yourself for showing up for YOU. Needless to say, I am a total fan of this studio. The space is clean and there is ample parking. They offer great membership packages as well as reasonable drop-in class prices. They also host various restorative events like crystal bowl meditations. And if yoga is your calling, fret not, because you can also go through instructor training under their tutelage. I say all that to finally say, if you have not been, I definitely recommend giving this studio a go! You won't regret it! Peace & Love. Namaste.

I was so excited to hear that Firefly Yoga would be coming back to Downtown Orlando. They used to have a studio next to The Sanctum, then opened their second studio in Ocoee, and eventually focussed solely on the Ocoee studio for a few years. When I heard they were returning, I was blown away by their new model. A passionate group of yoga instructors banded together to create The Collective, where they volunteer to teach classes. With this model, the money they collect goes straight to rental of the space (and tea, if they ever make more than they need to keep the studio open). This means that the prices are some of the lowest in Orlando. The drop-in rate is $8 (WUT.) and unlimited yoga is $60/month (will increase to $70/month for new members starting in June '19). This is absurdly low and only makes sense because this is less of a business and more of a passion project to bring Firefly back to Orlando. Right now, the schedule is as follows (taken from their website): MONDAY 10am all-levels Flow | 7pm all-levels Flow TUESDAY 6am Power | 6:30pm find a Firefly teacher at East End Market for an all-levels flow class that is donation-based WEDNESDAY 12pm all-levels Flow | 6:30pm Ashtanga-Inspired | 7:45pm YIN THURSDAY 5:30-7:30am Open Practice* | 4:30pm Ashtanga-Inspired | 6:30pm Ashtanga-Inspired FRIDAY 6:30pm all-levels Flow SATURDAY 11am Wild Card (teachers will rotate each week, so come for a surprise of personality and style!) I would always check their website because classes are occasionally canceled when COAL (the space within which Firefly is located) is booked for a special event. Parking is on-street and behind the building (plentiful), and the location is conveniently right across from Dandelion (TAKE ALL OF MY MONEYYYY). So excited to be a member and love the classes so far!

It was a really welcoming environment from right when I walked in. Lynn, our class instructor, showed me to the cubbies and explained everything after I got checked in. She was so kind to give me a heads up about the class format which was super nice to know. In the 90 minute class there's no music and it's all spoken instruction and timing through 26 movements (I think that was the number). It was a much different setup then any other yoga class I've been in so it was really nice to know that beforehand. The way Lynn instructed was very matter of fact- she knew the names of all the participants well, even myself as a first timer. Some may have taken it a wrong way when she calls your name to correct your form, but once you get used to it it was actually really nice. She paid close attention to everyone in the room even though it was full, to make sure everyone was getting the most out of it. I really appreciated the corrections as I still don't know a lot of the verbiage with yoga flow so I got lost at different points but Lynn always patiently pointed me to the correct direction. My class members were so supportive and even though 90 minutes in a hot room was so hard, it felt amazing after. They do have showers there as well so you can clean off right away after class. They offer the normal 60 minute hot yoga, hot pilates classes, and a few other things. It seems like a great community here that I'll definitely try to come back to even though I don't live in the Orlando area!

I've been going to Firefly Yoga for a few years now and had seen them through a move (three doors down in the same strip mall) and now to a change in ownership with a new name. It's not uncommon to be wary of this kind of change, especially if you are a regular and have become accustomed to a schedule and certain teachers. But, fear not! Having spoken to both the previous owner and the new owner, it seems this spot is in good hands for a smooth transition! Indeed, even Holly (previous owner who still has a studio in Ocoee) still teaches a few classes at PLA.Yoga! Even more impressive, PLA.Yoga is honoring class passes that folks had purchased and not finished using at Firefly. So much loving kindness and gratitude going on around this little studio! In fact, PLA.Yoga just celebrated their grand opening weekend, though they've been quietly open for a few weeks, and I've had the pleasure of taking some classes. Sign in was easy, either done online through their schedule on the website, or on an iPad when you arrive. The space is cozy with one medium sized room that lends itself beautifully to a yoga community. It is conveniently located two doors down from The Sanctum, so a quick smoothie or vegan bowl after class is almost a given. This means parking can sometimes get tight, but I've always found a spot and you can park on the street just off of Ferncreek if you have any trouble. In terms of classes, you'll still find evening bliss classes, as well as ashtanga, meditation, yin, and a little birdie (flier taped to their window) tells me they'll have some special occasion black light glow stick classes in the future! The true test for me with a studio is that there is a general sense of kindness, generosity, and a nonjudgmental community spirit. PLA.Yoga is fortunate to have this grandfathered in due to its predecessor, but the joy they bring looks like it'll include new and unique classes that will get us all smiling and doing sun salutations all the way into the evening!

It was great to finally meet Andi and mingle with other yelpers. My girlfriend even got to come too! The studio is cute and cozy. The owner was welcoming and friendly informing us of the check in perks -- each time you check in when you come you get to pick one of their cute stickers for free! Yay! So we got "lit" up with paint and glow in the dark tattoos before grabbing a mat. Our instructor for the evening was Mikaela, she is quite a powerhouse! She instructs the power yoga sessions. She came by before we started and asked if I wanted a block. I told her I had never used one and then she broke it down for me and the benefits of using one. So I kept it nearby just in case. The first thing we did was partner up with someone you don't know preferably (you have the option to not if you prefer). This was the first time I've down a "buddy yoga" system and I really enjoyed it! You certainly have to use your core and have trust in your partner. It was really rewarding though to be able to maneuver through it together! After that Mikaela took us into the power yoga. OH MY. Now I have taken yoga (even hot yoga) before at various locations but never had I had a class like this. It's almost like I was Goldie Locks trying to find the right bed, the previous studios weren't the best fit for me -- but this studio felt great! This class is no joke. I sweated and worked my a** off! When I started to feel tired and winded Mikaela would chime in with something positive to say which kept me going -- well at least to finish the class. Ugh, bouncing crescent lunges (I think that's what they are called?).... WOW, you hurt me SO good! Now I go to the gym fairly consistently and this class definitely worked my arms, my legs, my core -- my hamstrings and quads were screaming and I was like, oh hellllloooooo there! (Haha). But seriously, I would definitely recommend this studio. I didn't feel like I walked into a yoga studio where I felt like I needed to change to a vegan or raw diet, but I felt rejuvenated and in peace when I left. I very much look forward to coming back! (Parking is a bit limited in front but you can park on the street behind the studio)
