I want to start out by saying the Altamonte Springs yoga is a great place to practice and I thought…read morethe teachers were very professional and very educational on the positions. For me, it wasn't the best studio only because of the infrared lights and heater right above my head. I wish I had known this prior to going to the studio because my skin is very sensitive and I left the studio twice with burns on my skin. This is clearly just my experience, as there were a lot of students there who practice regularly that have no problem with the blazing heater and infrared lights. Typically I go to hot yoga but the studio just turns on several heaters so this was new for me. I'm making this review so that people know there will be heating bulbs above your head because it doesn't say that on the website. This is not me complaining this is me educating others before they step into a different type of heated environment.

My favorites are Vinyasa with Sarah, the owner (who is amazing!), Hatha with Robin, Gentle with Violette, and of course Happy Hour Flow with Michelle or Tori!! All of the other teachers are exceptional, too! The space is totally devoted to yoga and features a large main studio and a smaller intimate studio for private and smaller classes. They have several sizes and thicknesses of bolsters as well as blocks, straps, blankets, and sandbags so that you can fully explore the use of props in your practice without having to lug along all your own gear. The studio is clean and aesthetically very zen! The VERY best thing about Red Sun is the spirit of hospitality and community they provide for all who practice there! I always feel encouraged to practice at the pace and flow my body needs. Come find yourself at Red Sun!!

First and foremost I see they are very strict on time so make sure you don't lose out on your money. I believe I got there a little over a minute or two and as soon as I came through the door I was checked in by the instructor and she pretty much gave me a very short intro of hi and have you done Vinyasa before? I replied yoga yes but not much of an expert. After that front door was locked so no one could enter during which I was instructed to place my belongings and shoes in the cubby. We then went into a small room due to event taking place in the main larger room that day. It was a tight spaced room but we pretty much fit just by the mark. The class were on a more advanced level and positions moved very quickly. I miraculously kept up for the most part but my wrists aren't that strong so had to alter some of the positions sometimes to cater to that. I for sure got some heat in and lil sweat so the work out was definitely there and appreciated. I do enjoy some good stretch's as well which it had some but more of a combined mix of balancing, standing, and dog ward down with it. I would have love to go to a gentle class to see if I can really can commit and since it's more at my yoga level. I can see this is def my cup of tea its just the steep membership prices has me contemplating.

Just a little info before you decide on a studio: there are many kinds of yoga you can practice…read more (See: http://www.yogajournal.com/basics/165) The most pervasive form practiced in north/northeast Orlando appears to be the westernized power/flow yoga. While this form is a good workout, it isn't for everyone at all times. For those interested in something reflective, more meditative, yet still provides excellent muscle training, Iyengar yoga is recommended. Problem: there are no Iyengar classes in Orlando. Just as good as Iyengar is Anusara yoga, a type of yoga developed by John Friend which takes from the Iyengar form and builds on its principles. I have visited many studios in N/NE Orlando. Most of the teachers at these studios have not been practicing long and have been teaching for less. This doesn't mean they aren't good teachers, it's just that with many years of experience comes wisdom and better teaching practices which equals a better more safe experience for you. I know a good teacher when I see one. I've practiced all kinds of yoga, been practicing for a while, and have taken classes with the best teachers in Los Angeles and San Francisco. I found Lake Center Yoga when I was looking for a teacher with many years of experience and someone who taught something other than power yoga. Sri Ekan and Nirgunavathi Ananda teach Anusara yoga at this studio. They have been practicing yoga for 36 and 31 years, respectively. (From what I've seen, the average length of practice for any teacher in Orlando has got to be ten years, if that.) I knew that this place was a gem after one visit. Sri Ekan's teaching style was casual without pretense or pedantry. I left the class feeling high as a kite and with knowledge that complemented my current practice. The studio itself is on the smaller side with a great view of a lake. The vibe is welcoming and laid back. The people were warm and friendly and of varying ages, ethnicity and build. Of note, there is a resident mascot, Honeybear, who has got to be one of the sweetest dogs I have ever encountered. I encourage everyone to give this hidden gem of a yoga studio a try. You will not be disappointed.
