Recently I felt the need for yoga to help me process a hard time and saw that there was an Ashtanga primary series class that morning. When you park, just be aware the entrance is in the back of the building. Keep walking and you'll find it! Neil led the class and welcomed us newcomers with kindness and open arms. He was very informative about the style of class and made the series fun as we were sweating our way through the first half of the primary series. I hadn't practiced in a while, but immediately felt comfortable in the space and among the other yogis. I definitely look forward to returning for more Ashtanga classes (Friday mornings) and maybe some self led practice when I feel confident enough!

The studio's expertise is Ashtanga yoga, and the Mysore method is a unique way to teach the Ashtanga yoga style of yoga. But I came for the Pilates and am delighted to have discovered "Rehabilitative Body Mechanics". I'm so impressed with Krista's training, knowledge and style. Plus, so convenient in Maitland!

The yoga classes are a perfect blend between meditations, asanas, and pranayamas. For 6 weeks the classes are created to all reside within a theme, and each class focuses on a certain element within that theme. I've learned so much, not just about yoga, attending LCY. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

While this form is a good workout, it isn't for everyone at all times. For those interested in something reflective, more meditative, yet still provides excellent muscle training, Iyengar yoga is recommended. Problem: there are no Iyengar classes in Orlando. Just as good as Iyengar is Anusara yoga, a type of yoga developed by John Friend which takes from the Iyengar form and builds on its principles. I have visited many studios in N/NE Orlando. Most of the teachers at these studios have not been practicing long and have been teaching for less. This doesn't mean they aren't good teachers, it's just that with many years of experience comes wisdom and better teaching practices which equals a better more safe experience for you. I know a good teacher when I see one. I've practiced all kinds of yoga, been practicing for a while, and have taken classes with the best teachers in Los Angeles and San Francisco. I found Lake Center Yoga when I was looking for a teacher with many years of experience and someone who taught something other than power yoga. Sri Ekan and Nirgunavathi Ananda teach Anusara yoga at this studio. They have been practicing yoga for 36 and 31 years, respectively. (From what I've seen, the average length of practice for any teacher in Orlando has got to be ten years, if that.) I knew that this place was a gem after one visit. Sri Ekan's teaching style was casual without pretense or pedantry. I left the class feeling high as a kite and with knowledge that complemented my current practice. The studio itself is on the smaller side with a great view of a lake. The vibe is welcoming and laid back. The people were warm and friendly and of varying ages, ethnicity and build. Of note, there is a resident mascot, Honeybear, who has got to be one of the sweetest dogs I have ever encountered. I encourage everyone to give this hidden gem of a yoga studio a try. You will not be disappointed.

Once I signed up, I was contacted eight away and multiple times throughout the 2 weeks to confirm if I was going to attend. The call and such were a bit too much since I worked during the day. Now, once I made it to the class, I got to enjoy a nice session that eased me into pilates. I had prior yoga and pilates classes at gyms. This place is by far better. I actually feel the difference.

It's a little difficult to grab the classes because of my schedule i typically need late classes and they are usually on a waitlist , but I've grabbed what works for me and so far it's working . I love the studio and the instructors I've had , have all been patient and great . I'm looking forward to growing in my levels (currently I'm at level 1 ) , The staff is great and answer all questions. I love that you can also roll over classes if you don't use all your credits in the month (they are the only studio who allows that) , this will definitely come in handy with my schedule. If you are thinking about Pilates I definitely recommend this place. They also have free intro classes , so if you want to try it out before you commit you can & you can even by 1 class at a time if you don't want to commit to a membership right away. They have single classes (pay per class), 4 pack, 8 pack, & the unlimited. They have classes for all schedule types and the classes are not super long , but trust me they are very effective!
