It's a tiny town outside of Litchfield. Population, 2,300. We don't have anything in town, except a post office, library, gas station, small restaurant, and liquor store. Basically everything we need LOL. Well, our gas station, this XtraMart, is staffed by wonderful people who know us all. I go in every morning for a pack of smokes and they are waiting for me. But what I am really reviewing here is the Breakfast Sandwiches. Yeah, you read that right. Gas. Station. Breakfast. Sandwiches. Why? BECAUSE YOU'VE NEVER HAD ANYTHING SO SIMPLY DELICIOUS IN YOUR SHORT LIFE, MY FRIEND. They are made in house in the tiny deli (Deli Joes). Wrap your mind around this. One, soft, fresh, bulkie roll. TWO, yes I said TWO fried eggs. A MASSIVE pile of perfectly crisped bacon, sandwiched between the two fresh, fried eggs and two pieces of perfectly melted American cheese. All this for LESS than $3. I pay more for the frozen/microwaved/crap deals from fancy places. They offer plain cheese, bacon, sausage, and EVEN a veggie option for you non-carnivorous people out there. They were out of new batteries, so they sold her three AAA cells that they took out of a TV control for $1.50 each (ripoff even for new batteries). They promised her they were new and unused. She knew this seemed sketchy, but felt like she had no choice. When she finally tried the batteries this afternoon THEY WERE DEAD! Maybe it's all fun and games when you can stick it to a hiker, but now she has no working light for tonight. Now it's a safety issue. I hope they burn in hell!!!

Water, sodas, Gatorade (2/$3). Pop-tarts, honey buns, Ramen, tuna, jerky and more. We even spied mini-BIC lighters at the register. The store also features a small deli offering cold sandwiches. Also, there are two ice cream freezers. The store provides two picnic tables out front for hikers to drop and refill packs. Several hikers were allowed to recharge cell phones after asking politely, us included. Northbound hikers have a choice of an easy blue blaze direct to the bridge or a slightly longer road walk (.2 mi) from the road crossing. After crossing through the covered bridge and gawking at the river and canal, head across the adjoing parking area and field to the store just across the highway.

They are 3.03 per gallon today, everyone else is 3.05 or higher per gallon. Lots of pumps for no wait, including two diesel pumps on the end. They have a convenience store inside which I've never visited. They do get flooded rarely when the river overflows. Don't know if that seeps into the gas lines, but I always wait a few days to go after that. Xpress is definitely the go to for gas and savings.
