They were out of new batteries, so they sold her three AAA cells that they took out of a TV control for $1.50 each (ripoff even for new batteries). They promised her they were new and unused. She knew this seemed sketchy, but felt like she had no choice. When she finally tried the batteries this afternoon THEY WERE DEAD! Maybe it's all fun and games when you can stick it to a hiker, but now she has no working light for tonight. Now it's a safety issue. I hope they burn in hell!!!

Water, sodas, Gatorade (2/$3). Pop-tarts, honey buns, Ramen, tuna, jerky and more. We even spied mini-BIC lighters at the register. The store also features a small deli offering cold sandwiches. Also, there are two ice cream freezers. The store provides two picnic tables out front for hikers to drop and refill packs. Several hikers were allowed to recharge cell phones after asking politely, us included. Northbound hikers have a choice of an easy blue blaze direct to the bridge or a slightly longer road walk (.2 mi) from the road crossing. After crossing through the covered bridge and gawking at the river and canal, head across the adjoing parking area and field to the store just across the highway.

I once asked the owners about the signs, and was advised that people come in to check out a product, take photos, and then go home to search for it online, which is very rude. For me, I stop in the store every time I am in town. They always have a lot of unique things and quite a variety as well. I can always find the perfect give for someone, and I can of course always find "gifts" for myself. The owners are so nice and I can't imagine anyone saying they are rude. They even did a special order for me for items that were not in stock at the time. Now that is the customized service you get in a small family owned business.

Yet they stay open. And I can't imagine someone is making big bucks in the cigarette/lottery ticket/off-brand donut sales business. They're probably doing it as a commitment to the community, for the love of the business, and a sense of pride. They have a cooler with locally made Avery's soda. The area designation signs are handmade. They have frozen homemade food, including pizza! There's homemade bakery items and cooler goods, including fresh muesli. How cool is that? But even more amazing, the owner makes spices, including rubs and curry powder. Was confused with the new styling of the pumps. Although I saw the scanner to scan some type of card, when I went to insert my card (like I used to have to do to most Speedway places) it took it. Are the new pumps designed to scan the barcode of the card without inserting the card or what is up with that barcode scanner (what is it used for)? (The last time I was forced to use a brand new updated pump at a Speedway, the pumps pay-at-the-pump was down and couldn't get my GasBuddy card to work correctly(another station at another time), but that astounded me finally.
