As many shopping area are being torn down only to go massively vertical I'm so thrilled that they didn't do that here knowing how dated it has become what they did is just phenomenal! It's almost incomprehensible of the previous structure to have it taken from us not knowing what was in the plans as I did visit it quite frequently and just having it was nice alternative to venture out at Kahala Mall. Considering the space they worked with I'm sure the traffic flow was the real challenge as sometimes it still confuses me so I just grab a stall when I do find one so that I'm not in a situation that forces me to exit the area which do happen quite frequently lol! As it slowly filled up from some vacant spots I do love the varieties they have to offer from snacks at Wholesale Unlimited, to eats at BBQ Chicken, J Dolan, and Daiichi Ramen, sips at Lanikai and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, or how about a Unicorn Butt Sneeze from Purvé Donut, get glamed at Drybar or Kahala Nails, gas filled, or need that Urgen Care...all done here! Welcome Capriotti's Sandwich Shop which just opened recently, and I do believe Yohei Sushi will be joining us this winter...and you think this is awesome you'll see a few water features that are simply soothing and beautiful there's a plaque which explains some history of the Wai'alae area that I have no idea and is a great humbling fact. A low tise strip mall that has Kahala Mkt. by Foodland for groceries and numerous eateries, from J. Dolans to Daiichi Ramen. Shell gas station and Straub clinic are at opposite ends of Kuono. I have only been to BBQ Chicken, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Kahala Mkt, and Great Clips. A nice selection of local businesses and corporate chains. Parking lot could've been better planned and it is always full but there are entrances and exits on the Waialae Avenue and Hunakai Street sides. Stall width allows for bigger vehicles.

Head over to Kaneohe Bay Shopping Center (KBSC). Established in 1971, KBSC has been serving the Kamaaina and visitors on the Windward side. It houses big name tenants of Safeway, Goodyear, Long's, Starbucks, Panda Express, L&L Hawaiian BBQ, Central Pacific Bank, First Hawaiian Bank, Hawaii State Federal Credit Union, Petco, 7-11, and Diagnostic Laboratory Services. A lot can be accomplished at KBSC and can get good deals on $5 Fridays at Safeway or grabbing a massive plate lunch from L&L or create your own Chinese plate from Panda's, which makes a popular restaurant for grab and go. The closure of Kaneohe Bakery and Deluxe Pastry Shop in recent years had residents of 96744 yearning for breakfast treats but step in Donut King, which opened earlier this year in KBSC. You can also fill up gas at Kaneohe Bay 76 (Union 76) and grab a Musubi and a slurpee from 7-11 that's conveniently located. You also have a Starbucks and Jamba Juice on property as well. There's lots of parking in this structure which makes it ideal to run errands here but why not 5-stars? Couple years ago they repainted the parking stall lines and decided to make the stall narrower which makes it frustrating at times to park. You will need to pay extra attention, especially when a large number of patrons come to KBSC with trucks and vans. This makes it challenging to park here and many times will witness cars either hugging the lines or clearly pass the borders. KBSC is still going strong with so many options to shop and run errands with lots of parking which makes it a great place for locals and visitors.

(Most times... ) Anywho, we went here for dinner and I LOVED IT because we could choose from 4 different restaurants AND a grocery store to eat at. PLUS TOO, they stayed open til 9/10pm. Most places like these are closed by 7/8pm because of location or they're in the mall. But here it was really good too because they have other stores nearby. Like LONGS OR WALMART & there was a burger joint on the other side. Even a Jamba Juice. Not sure how long that stays open but, they have a variety of places to eat here! I went to eat at SUMO RAMEN. Dad & the kids went to L&L's and Pandas. Typical LOCALS! I'm the ONLY ONE in the family that LOVES TO EAT AUTHENTIC FOODS! I'm NOT spoiled or ritzy! I was just taught well by an aunty on where to eat and HOW to eat well. My husband on the other hand, was taught how I just EAT! Although my kids DO eat what I enjoy, they will always pick local style foods over ethnic or authentic. But YES! This place is DEFINITELY WORTH THE LOOK! Oh! They also have a GOODYEAR HERE TOO! So if you ever need your tires fixed, go here so you have options to shop around at. And if you're there during the morning or afternoon, well you're in luck cause, they're literally right across the street is the MALL! So you have so much options just stopping off here. Downtown is an asphalt jungle filled with various hidden gems and Fort Street area is no different…read more Yes parking ugh! What I usually do is make a day out of it starting at the Municipal lot and stroll around for what captures my attention, which doesn't really take very much but I do love how Fort Street Mall has evolved from the ultimate grunge to something more developed with some familiar and some not so familiar biz. On this day I stumbled unknowingly on a Christmas Fair filled with various vendors and it's in the same area as the Open Market (held on Tuesdays and Fridays 7am-1:30pm) I was so excited and decided to take advantage of this opportunity...and gosh what a lovely find! There weren't a lot but very selective as each vendor was unique in its own way all in the spirit of the holidays offering fun gift ideas was very inspiring and I did walk away with some great stocking stuffers and a solar cell phone charger for myself. Always try my best to support small and local this find was a delightfully fun as this shopaholic loves to explore. Thank you!

Central in downtown Honolulu is Fort Street, and since 1968 when converted by our Honolulu City…read moreCouncil is now known as Fort Street Mall. Fort Street runs north south in the center of the financial district of Honolulu. The north end of Fort Street is intersected with Beretania Street. The south end of Fort Street is intersected with Merchant Street. North heading south you will find the oldest Cathedral, Cathedral of Our Lady built in the 1800's. The Cathedral is followed by Sacred Hearts Convent School and then followed by the McCorriston Building. These buildings still stand and is a great part of Downtown Honolulu's history. Still heading south on Fort Street and in the 1960's-70's buildings were built and some businesses and structures were renovatedl such as the C. Brewer Buidling and the Judd Building, Today, in 2019; you can stroll up and down Fort Street, now referred to as the Fort Street Mall and find Farmer's Markets and mega markets like Walmart and Ross' Department Stores. Some tidbits: * Walmart used to be Macy's Department Stores who used to be Liberty House. * The area once used as the Sacred Hearts Convent is now the home of the Hawaii Pacific College (annex) * Woolworth's Department Store who used to be Kress Stores was replaced by Longs Drugs and Ross' Department Store and is towered with the Condo/Hotel Executive Centre BUT HERE'S A GREATER LEAP BACKWARDS IN TIME AND HISTORY: Over 200 years ago, Russians wanted to take over the Kingdom of Hawaii and used Fort Street as a road and area to develop a fort for the Russian traders. When King Kamehameha found out, he removed them from the island of Oahu.Once removed and as time past, Governor Kuakini contined and completed the rebuilding of the new "fort". This fort however was not only served as a fort for war but was also used to for canon salutes to friendly visitors and vessels. So there! a two bit journey of the Honolulu Fort, Then Fort Street, now Fort Street Mall. We've all passed here…read more.. For many reasons is there many have since closed and moved on it's so sad to see from way back in the day what this area has been so vibrant and fun location is now bare and depressing. Thankfully there are still many great biz here including Starbucks, McDonald's, Auto Zone, Ono Loco Tacos and Texaco it's obvious of the huge void in a couple of anchor spots and has been for several years and have yet to hear a peep of anyone occupying the vacant spaces. Not sure how this Marketplace is surviving but hoping it does and return back to life like how it used to be especially when they demolish the Aloha Stadium that's a whole new craziness. Thank you!

I just think it's cool that the "Like Like Drive Inn" nostalgic sign is kept as Ke'eaumoku Street has transformed to a much more modern and no stranger to luxury high rise condominium this little shopping area is a piece of gem and is home to quite a few places that we all do enjoy whether it's some snacks at Wholesale Unlimited to bites at Kyochon Chicken, YogurStory, or to just grab a drink at Teapresso Bar the parking here is all free and nothing beats that. I've even gotten my pedicure at Gradient Nails there's so much here than what you can see with lots of various services available here is a small spot. Parking entrance is on Ke'eaumoku Street while you exit on Kanunu Street and is quite tight especially at the corner area so it can be challenging for larger vehicles though with various great local biz they have here it can get filled though I think it's worth the visit. I've been coming to Like Like Plaza on Ke'eaumoku Street often because of tenants such as: - YogurStory - Banchan House - Wholesale Unlimited - Tony Moly - So Gong Dong - Honolulu Sushi - May's Salon - Teapresso Bar Other businesses include: - Territorial Savings - JES Jewelry - Gradient Nails - Orient Travel - Ke'eaumoku Produce A few businesses moved out and others have taken their places: Hakuyosha Dry Cleaners will soon be the new home of Kyochon F&B Fried Chicken. Banchan House is in N Cat's place. YogurStory replaced Like Like Drive Inn. Welcome to all of the new businesses and wishing continued success to current and new tenants! I appreciate the free parking, variety of shopping and dining opportunities, and clean environment!

This is a small, but efficient strip mall on the right side of Kamehameha Highway as you head…read moretowards Windward Mall from Windward City Shopping Center & Hawaiian Memorial. There are seven businesses there: Don Goya's Mexican Food, Haiku Veterinary Clinic, Tina's Barber Shop, Legal Aid Society, Christian Science Center, Edward Jones, and T & T Nails. The parking spaces are tight and few at peak times. The location is right before the Kaneohe Public Library/Police Station at a relatively busy part of Kaneohe Town. Go slowly and be careful - the driveway is a two-way lane!

This is a small shopping strip with a few businesses. The parking is some of the worst on the…read moreisland. There is only one way in so people must backup a long ways to be able to get out. I drive a fairly nice car with a low front end. I parked in one spot and realized that the truck next to me would have a very difficult time getting out without hitting me so I moved to another spot. The cement tire stop was very high. When I backed out it pulled my front bumper loose. I don't plan on going back to these businesses again because of the parking.

The maze in Mililani…read more.. One of the most confusing designs of the traffic flow is found here in Mililani. Lots of great biz are found here in the Gateway at Mililani Mauka which is found right at the freeway entrance/exits with McDonald's being the prominent building viewable. There is Hele along with Starbucks and McDonald's that does draw in many for the drive thru convenience and does make it a challenge navigating between others while some parking area are for specific biz. The impressive selections of shops, restaurants and personal services are found here which I do love just be mindful of the drive thru lines that some may be patiently waiting it's not the greatest place if you're in a rush and aren't familiar with the layout. While I'm happy for the residents of Mililani having access to great restaurants and other…read moreservices, I must say the parking and driving situation is quite complicated. A four way intersection with a drive-through line snaking through it? I was blockaded by a huge truck in that line while I was trying to exit my parking stall. Needless to say, I was stressed out navigating the stops, yields, and one-ways -- I don't blame the people for being a ball of nerves with such ridiculous and potentially dangerous circumstances! I've come here many times and sometimes it's a hit or miss but when it misses, boy, does it miss hard.

Kapahulu pride…read more.. First of all I can't believe that a bakery used to be here as now it's home to Safeway which wasn't my go to grocery store until they began to set their place here in Kapahulu Shopping Center which is quite massive and very nice to include a Starbucks as well, yes it is definitely the anchor here with a lot of free parking and we all know that it does fill up fast but they do have an upper level as well just take the ramp up and you'd be surprised to see a lot more stalls along with elevators to take you down so it's an easy access to wherever you're going as this shopping center is filled with wonderful merchants like AT&T, Chronic Tacos, Panda Express, Timmy T's, GNC just to name a few. For those that are here just to pick up some take out food there are a few stall dedicated for that for ease of doing so like delivery drivers I do see take full advantage of that making it a thoughtful process for those that are just here for a few and with that is time saved for those that are staying near Waikiki or before heading out to the freeway. Kapahulu Shopping Center is a busy Shopping Center, especially because Safeway is the anchor store…read more Some smaller eateries came and went like Pita Pit. I liked that sandwich place, and I would drive here just for their sandwiches. It so hard find parking in front of the businesses throughout the day. What is nice, is the parking is free! Recently came to Moojigae Korean Grill after the lunch rush hours and found a parking stall right in front. New businesses to open soon are the Loco Moco Drive Inn and a second location for Mikiya, a Wagyu Shabu House. Timmy T's , Panda Express, AT&T, GNC, as well as Chronic Tacos are located at this Shopping Center. There are more parking stalls on the roof top with Elevators service. You can see Diamond Head from the roof top parking! The Kapahulu Shopping Center is on Kapahulu Avenue and there's also a back entrance for the residential area near Timmy T's. I can't wait to go Loco Moco's Drive Inn when they open. Sometimes you can find some coupons printed behind the Safeway's receipt for the near by businesses. Please stop by this Shopping Center on the way to Waikiki or when you're in the area. They have many take out eateries to try! This Safeway is huge like the main store located on Beretania St!
