Visiting frankemuth and yelp some restaurant around the area, we found this place and decide to try it, nice ambiance, food is good but not so much what we paid for, we ordered a dinner bento box but meat entree was not satisfied due to lack of meat, they put more veggies than meat and did not really get full for the price we paid, dissatisfied. read more

Stopped in for some sushi and General tso chicken for lunch. The food was just not good. I would rarely leave a bad review BUT as for the sushi, the rolls were rolled so big that they were loose and you couldn't even pick them up with chop sticks!! They literally had lettuce leaves hanging out of them! Why lettuce and not cucumber or avocado? It was weird! I personally, have never had lettuce in a sushi roll but hey, to each their own right?! Besides the basic Cali roll, that actually was an ok roll but they others had the seaweed on the outside which is probably why all the inside fell out. Plus that's all you could smell when going to take a bite and it was so chewy, we couldn't even chew it and had to spit it out! On to the General tso chicken meal.. which was not good either! Each piece of "chicken" on the plate was basically a ball of batter. I cut 3 chunks open and each I couldn't see any chicken!! The server came to our table (which was the only one in the place) to ask if we wanted a box because basically all the food was still left, and I showed the server the chicken and he didn't really say anything but oh. I told him I thought the shrimp tempura roll was fried chicken and he said no, and the shrimp had poop trail in it so The entire meal/roll was gross! Great location if you awant to escape the crowds of tourists downtown. Lovely and clean atmosphere, food was reasonably priced. Everything from the sushi to the orange chicken was delicious. The food is great and servers are wonderful. Wang's have the practice of delivering one dish at a time. For example my husband is served 10 minutes later my son 10 minutes after my son I am served. Manager states the kitchen is very busy and it is crazy at dinner... really have served at more then one restaurant and never has this been an issue. They are never as busy Olive Garden during holidays and I never served a family in shifts while serving other tables in between. Maybe Wangs chefs/cooks families eat on shift but my doesn't. This isn't a first it is very normal for at least one member at table to be served 5 to 10 minutes before rest of family. read more

So good. Frankenmuth is not known for it's Asian cuisine but the food here is very good. I would call it an Asian Fusion restaurant. They serve food from a variety of Asian cultures. Typical traditional Chinese American dishes like sweet and sour chicken, pepper steak etc., but also Japanese style bento boxes and sushi boats. They also offer bubble tea. My review is based on a visit pre-covid. This place is 1.5 hours from my home. Whenever I think of picking up Chinese I often consider taking the drive just for their food. My only complaint the meals come with soup which was basically just a broth. read more

I will start with the food that was better then I expected and far better quality then the previous restaurant that occupied the space. My wife and I tried the orange chicken and general tso chicken and were both impressed. She also had the California roll and spring roll that came with her 'box', and said that it would make her go back. All around the food is pricey but tasty. The service is a different story all together. The wait staff do not make you feel welcome, do not explain the menu very well, do not seem to get along together and do not seem to want to be there. I will have to explain what I mean by do not explain the menu well; Wang's has what they call their boxes which are sectioned trays with an entree, spring roll, rice and sushi (with additional items in a dinner portion), or they have the 'full order' which is an entree and rice. The tables (3 different groups) around us asked about what an entree comes with, to which each table received the same answer of depends on the box. This response was always met with the confused response of 'box?'. To which all the waitresses could do was point to the top of the page and say nothing, which did not agreed with the temperaments of two of the three tables who still did not understand why they needed to get sushi with their meal (which you do not). It was an experience that I feel sorry for the waitresses to have to deal with in a tourist based town. I would recommend Wang's for everyone to try, even with their staff shortcomings, I will go back, it can only improve over time right? read more

Wang's Bistro in Frankenmuth, MI Friday 06/16/2017 A group of 10 of us dined in after making a reservation. If you're a bigger group I'd call ahead of time, they will accommodate if possible. We ordered: Crab Rangoon tastes great good filling and yummy with the sweet and sour sauce Fried pot stickers decent size and filling was good. We really liked the dipping sauce Ricky roll was delicious. Basically a California roll with stuff of top. Not sure was sauce was drizzled on too but it was amazing. For entrees we ordered a variety of dinners and bento boxes. All of the food was warm and delicious. Price point is reasonable for the quality. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was our waitress. I'm not sure if she was new or just inexperienced in serving a larger table. Regardless she forgot our orders and we had to ask for items we ordered repeatedly. We only got refills on our drinks after asking and even then we had to wait. The surrounding area of Frankenmuth and Birch run doesn't have any better options for Japanese cuisine. If you're in town make this stop! We have since ordered take out and we were not disappointed. We will be visiting again soon! read more

What to say about Wang's... The great. Nothing. The good. The Chinese foods were fine as was the crab Rangoon, and gyoza. The ok. Chicken teriyaki and miso soup. The bad. Sushi was day old and amateurish. The terrible. Coconut shrimp (fried shrimp swimming in sweet coconut milk sauce) and spring roll (oily soggy poor excuse for food). Overall Wang's is clean, fast, and reasonably priced. I won't be F'ed by the Wang again. read more

Loved our meal here! We had to wait a bit for a table but nothing too extreme. Great prices and great food. I got the dinner Bento box which is great if you like to try a bit of everything. BEST PLACE EVER!!! I live in Frankenmuth and I am so thankful to have been blessed with Wang's Bistros presence. Some may say I'm being melodramatic, but this place is heaven on earth. Great sushi chef!!! I always get Rainbow Roll and octopus sashimi... I'm a fan of sushi. There is so much variety of food here. Everything on the menu is delicious (as long as it's something you'd like) I don't understand how people could NOT like this place... even in the slightest. I go there as often as I can, and there is never a day that goes by that I don't think about how amazing there food tastes. I love going there with my friends to talk and hang out. The people who work there are so nice! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys Asian food or anyone who wants something new. The waitresses and waiters can sometimes be hard to understand, but they are very nice and understanding! Great atmosphere to eat as well. If you've read this far, then you should already realize that their food is great, and Wang's Bistro is the best place on earth to eat. (I'm not obsessed, YOU'RE obsessed) read more

I ordered sweet and sour chicken which consists of a bowl of cold rice, a bowl of sweet and sour sauce and chicken nuggets. My friend ordered seseme chicken without broccoli. Food here is decent Chinese. Far from great, probably 3.5 stars for the food. Certainly best Asian food in Frankenmuth. And since it is brand new it is clean and nice inside so good atmosphere for eating. Problem is they ruin the experience with bad service. Third time here and we won't be back. All three times the service was borderline rude. Then we either get rushed to order and leave or get ignored. But worst of all are the rules that make it impossible to eat what I want. I understand Chinese restaurants often have substitution rules to avoid substituting a more expensive option (shrimp instead of chicken) but they take it to extreme levels. Can't get fried rice unless the meal comes with that - and if it does better not ask for white rice! And if you go at noon on a weekend better be hungry, you can only order the lunch portions on weekdays. I'd skip this place unless you want your meal EXACTLY as listed on the menu - or they figure out the concept of an up charge read more

My husband went in for dinner the other night. We weren't disappointed but weren't exactly wow'ed either. He had the General Tso's Chicken and I had the Cashew Chicken. Both came with egg drop soup, an egg roll, and rice. I also got a plate of California Sushi as an appetizer. The sushi didn't taste exactly fresh and it was very cold so it was obvious it was sitting in a fridge for awhile. Not a problem though, it was still very good. Our food arrived in a decent time and was very good. We both noted that it tasted very similar to the food that the buffet served. Same owners would go with the same recipes and food services, right? I wasn't really a fan of the chicken they served at the buffet (if you look at it after you bite into it, its a weird, gray color. Ew.) and wasn't really a fan of the chicken here either, but drenched in enough sauce, it wasn't too bad. The rice was a bit hard, so it's obvious they cooked that ahead of time as well. The waitstaff wasn't that great either. She brought all of our food out in a decent time but wasn't that polite, was too quiet when she talked, and didn't know very much about the menu. My husband asked for a substitute for eggdrop soup and she told him they didn't have one. You really couldn't give him an extra eggroll or something? I think she was just new and inexperienced with the menu and policies of the place. The prices were extremely fair so we both decided when we walked out that it was a good place. We were satisfied and both agreed that if we are ever in the mood for Chinese, we would consider coming here. Otherwise we won't set much store into it. Wangs Bistro is an ok place to eat. The price is right for the portion size and quality of food. This place takes longer than average to eat at. If you want to get some quick lunch. This is definitely not the place for you. If you order two meals, you will be there for an hour. Not a big deal if your not in a hurry. I had ordered hibachi steak with fried rice. The steak was tough but seasoned well. However the rice was fried by itself. I found one lonely pea in it. The rest was all rice. Broccoli also came with it. They also have what they call box lunches. This pretty much means you get your rice, sushi, main course, and egg roll in the same box divided into different sections. I would not recommend the egg roll by any means. The egg roll was very mushy and just not good. My hibachi steak came with egg drop soup. Basic egg drop soup nothing more nothing less. There is also a part of the restaurant where you can sit in the floor and eat. You have to take your shoes off to do it. I would most likely not partake in sitting or kneeling in the floor as my fat a$$ would most likely return to me feet. By the way, this restaurant has a huge menu. Probably too big for the town of Frankenmuth to be honest. Their sushi menu is also large. I am a wussy when it comes to sushi. I will stick to my retro rolls. This restaurant has sushi that is definitely not for the weak, as you will see in the menu pics. The price is good the quality is ok, but it has a huge menu. If you haven't been to a good Sushi bar than this seems mediocre at best.They seem to use cheap ingredients...such as shrimp and I'm tasting clam juice to add more of a seafood flavor..Restaurant is nice and so is the staff.
