Pretty good Japanese and Chinese restaurant in Frankenmuth area. The interior is gorgeous and there is plenty of seating. The menu is robust offering a large sushi collection, several noodle selections, and most impressively, a large bento selection. The crab Rangoons were ok! I also got a tuna hand roll. The hand roll was fine except the avocado was a bit overripe. So was the avocado in my husband's California roll. The seafood udon had healthy portions of veggies and seafood. The broth was a bit plain. The general tsos bento was good. Overall we will come here again. This place was packed at Saturday lunch. read more

When we walked in the decor was very appealing. It felt modern but also inviting The miso soup was flavorful and perfectly balanced with salt. We had the steamed gyoza which was very juicy and well seasoned. We got the spicy salmon, pink lady and red dragon rolls which all tasted very fresh. Delicious food, finally a excellent Bento Box with a hot ragoon, dumplings and spring roll. Hibachi chicken and other options round out the boxes. Sushi was fresh. Fried rice and white rice prepared perfect. Friendly staff, decor inside is so inviting and rounds out the experience. I've been there 3 times and each time the place has not disappointed. The price is reasonable, the food is good Chinese American Food. Everything tastes fresh, portions are generous, the waitstaff is friendly. The only knock is the service can at times be a tad slow if they are busy, but the food is worth the wait. The decor and ambiance make it a place that would be a nice get away for a casual date with your significant other. The bathrooms are very nice as well. I recommend it highly. The reason that I gave it 4 stars is because it's not real Chinese, but then most places around aren't and most of us Americans aren't thrilled with the real places where food comes out with heads and feet attached..lol. read more

I went there for the first time a few weeks ago. The waitress was real friendly. The food was so good. I definitely will be going back. I had fried rice with chicken, pork & a salad. Went there in January 2025, wait time was horrible, place was like a freezer, cold, food was barely warm, tasted bad, and service was slow and took forever. I'm a regular visitor to Frankenmuth and refuse to eat at the "famous" chicken places downtown so I was THRILLED to find Wang's. I am glad I came here because it exceeded my expectations. The decor is simple with a traditional Japanese style, and I was impressed by the traditional Japanese floor seating available. The food was steamy hot, rice was cooked perfectly, and all the items in the bento dinner box were fantastic. The only thing I disliked out of all of it was the spring roll. However, the chicken was tasty and the various dipping sauces were wonderful. The food was flavorful and yummy, and I would absolutely recommend giving this place a try. If you're searching for food other than Amish style fried chicken and potatoes this is your place... and seriously the only place in town that didn't give me flashbacks of the Essenhaus in Shipshewana. The bento boxes are great! The beef and broccoli was slightly salty, but not mouth puckering salty. The fried rice looked delicious, but tasted exactly like white rice. I wouldn't bother upgrading. The portions are large we ordered 4 dinner bento boxes for 2 adults and 3 elementary aged kids and still had 2 boxes of leftovers. Service is friendly. Just okay. It was a clean spot even if they swept up the floor into piles that were in the primary walking path. They only had one waitress who was superb but handling at one time six tables really ran her and service did suffer as a result. The hostess was rather dour and tetchy. The sweet and sour chicken was just some dough wrapped deep fried chicken with an accompanying sweet and sour sauce off to the side. Not the traditional one with onions, peppers, pineapple and so forth, thus it was a disappointment as was the rice which was not the traditional sticky rice. So it was just okay. We frequent Frankenmuth pretty often. One of our favorite food categories is sushi, so we decided to try this place. Our gold standard for sushi is Sagano in Flint Township (not Fenton). We were very pleased with Wang's Bistro. Sushi was top notch. Egg drop and hot and sour soup was awesome as well. Would have given five stars, but the portions were a bit smaller than I expected. So, based on the reviews of this place, I have to feel this was a horrendous off day. We saw the reviews, and didn't want Zhenders for once during our little outing into Frankenmuth. We ordered Wonton and Egg Drop soups, Steamed gyoza, orange chicken and sesame chicken. The soups.... The chicken soup base in the Wonton soup was pretty good, but the wontons themselves were disgusting looking. They looked like tiny pea brains wrapped in wonton wrappers. That being said, each wonton probably had a tsp/ 1/2 of filling,.... very cheap. The Egg Drop was decent, but lacked any semblance of flavor. It was just BLAND. Like, do they know what salt and pepper is at least? The Gyoza was depressing. Just depressing. I could've gotten better from the frozen section and steamed them in the hotel coffee maker and been happier. No flavor, half the filling of a normal gyoza and the sauce was at least 'okay'. The Orange chicken,.... don't know if you saw this coming,.... lacked FLAVOR. Not only flavor but spice as well(which is funny because it's listed as spicy on their order form). It was a kick of orange, and then breaded chicken mush. Portion sizes are probably half of a normal Chinese restaurant as well, for the same price. She got white rice with this,... and it came in probably a small individual cup, portions suck here is a trend I've noticed. The Sesame Chicken. One of my favorite dishes to get at a Chinese place because I love sweet/spicy. Was a massive disappointment. Like the Orange chicken, was a kick of initial flavor, and then dissolved into a mush. I honestly can't even say it was real chicken at this point. That being said, Sesame Chicken, as it should, comes with broccoli. Which somehow they didn't cook at all. I like a good crunch in my broccoli, but damn, come on. I had also paid TWO DOLLARS extra for lo mein. Tell me why I got the same size of a cup of lo mein as my wife did white rice. Not only that,... but once again it lacked flavor and somehow this was super greasy. I'm not saying I won't ever return to this place, but honestly it has to come under new management or new cooks for me to even attempt it. Our total was $35.77, and before placing the order it also prompted a tip (which is weird imo, for take out Chinese food). What would I have paid to eat here? Probably $10 for the quality and quantity of food. I've had better from Panda Express, for cheaper. read more

While we had high expectations based on a friends suggestion, and what also started on a high note, ended sort of disappointingly. We ordered entirely sushi rolls and some nigiri, and the fresh (raw) salmon and cooked eel rolls we had were good. We enjoyed them and were sort of the highlight of the meal. When we got to our nigiri, it being smoked (cooked) salmon and larger pieces of cooked eel, this is where things went awry. The smoked salmon tasted like sausage, or like "liquid smoke" one would use to flavor things to be smoked, opposed to actually smoking it. The eel had some bones in it, and the sauce tasted more like an teriyaki sauce (very sweet) opposed to more tangy (traditional eel sauce). Overall, 3/4 of my dinner was great, but that's still only a 75%. I might return in the future, but I will most likely seek alternative choices for the time being. read more

I love Wang's so much! I have been here more times than I can count and I have been extremely satisfied everytime. I have never been dissapointed. The portions for the price are great and they're quite affordable too. I have gotten sushi, sashimi, bento boxes, & dessert and all of it was extremely tasty everytime! Even when busy the service is pretty quick. My personal favorites are a basic spicy tuna roll, coconut chicken, and the ice cream mochi. I reccomend this place more than any other chinese & japanese place I've been to. The atmosphere is great too, wonderful decor very pretty and chill. If you are debating on going & you like sushi or chinese food, don't pass up the opportunity. Seriously you won't regret eating here, Wang's is in my top 3 restaurants. read more
