I was so irritated because I was on the side of a SUPER busy road, and my phone was close to dying. I called Walt's and he was able to come out within 30 minutes. He took care of my car and waited with me until my car was gassed up and back on without any issues. He communicated his ETA with me throughout the 30 minute original ETA he gave me when I called him and that was super appreciated. Walt's Towing is the personification of predatory business practices. They tow your vehicle from non-compliant posted private property and state there is nothing you can do but pay their exorbitant fee ($90 for storage at $1/day but the vehicle was there less than three hours and the charge of $100 for a dollie that ABSOLUTELY was not utilized due to the type of vehicle I have). All told, it was over $500 for a tow in a parking lot in which I was a customer and signage posted specifies that the business (none given) can have the vehicle towed. As the busines I was utilizing was the closest, I had no fear parking my vehicle there. I, too, am reaching out to the California Vehicle Tow and Storage Board, the Dept of Consumer affairs, Better Business Bureau, and filing a civil suit to recover my funds due to illegal tow practices. read more

Walt's Towing engages in what I believe are predatory business practices. Recently, my vehicle was towed near Radcliffe Stadium in Fresno. I had parked in a small lot next to a closed business, which was completely full of cars. Several spaces away, there was a "No Parking - Tow at Owner's Expense" sign, but it was too far for me to see. I only noticed it after the tow truck driver, Salvador Martinez, pointed it out. It shouldn't matter anyway because I was there less than an hour. I believe there is a CA law that says you have to be parked over and hour before your towed. I parked for only about 15-20 minutes to pick up my junior high son, who was playing in the band at the stadium. I was recovering from West Nile Virus at the time, and while I would have preferred to stay in my truck, I didn't want my wife walking alone in the area. We left shortly after my son decided to return to school by bus -- only to see my truck already loaded on the back of a Walt's Towing truck. When I ran over and asked them to stop, Mr. Martinez told me it would cost $300 to drop the truck on the spot. He warned that if the vehicle went into their yard, the cost would be $600 or more. While we were talking, another upset parent nearby called him a crook. He responded by calling her a "nasty woman" and said that's why she was being charged $700. At that point, the parking lot was almost empty -- suggesting multiple cars had already been towed. Seeing two tow trucks in the area made me wonder how many others were affected. This feels unethical and exploitative, especially when many parents were simply attending a school event. There are legitimate reasons for towing -- blocking driveways, red zones, or abandoned vehicles -- but targeting families in this way does not feel like one of them. read more

The owner and employees are very rude, they like to hangup the phone mid conversation, had three people speak to this company on behalf of my self since they dont allow you talk over the phone , about your items. I just have to say, with this company you almost look forward to your next tow ! We were so frustrated with the time it took AAA to respond to our tow request. We had waited for hours two different days. Bad customer service no communication. Outsorced automated customer service and we could could never reach a live person . So we said, heck we're just going to pay out of pocket. We called Walts and got Sal. Not only was he there in 9 minutes but he hooked up the tow in less than 3 minutes just like tying shoelaces. If I could give zero stars I would in a heart beat. He took our car after only parking for five mins in an apt complex told me to suck a dick and proceeded to be extremely rude, condescending, short smart Alec comments etc. Then he tried saying we were threatening him then started recording us Saying we were being aggressive yet we were the ones being completely disregarded. He right off the bat was extremely rude telling us we we're were't actually leaving and "we were just coming out bc the cars getting towed" yet it was quiet obvious we weren't lying since our purses and phones were in the car. I tried complaining to management and they straight up hung up didnt care and proceeded to say they would give me HR number but then say they are HR. they were playing games. Then they procedeed to tell me that everyone gets told ugly things thats life boo hoo who the hell says that? Ya stay away from Sal and their family owned business they are crooks and they just want your money. From what I've read on here this isn't the first time it's happened nor will it be the last time. Do not use Walt's towing, if you get in an accident call your own tow company. The name of the tow truck driver was not known although after talking to the police department the owners name verified as Sal. My sister's car was not blocking traffic although the officer called Walt's towing and we explained that we have a tow truck driver on the way. The officer stated a penal code and said by procedure he has to have it towed. I was on the phone with a tow truck driver who was across the median and only had to turn. When I explained to the tow truck driver he was already there he asked me what tow company and when I pointed and showed him he was there and stated the name of the company he tried to grab my phone out of my hand while the officer was standing right next to him. The house is a 2 min drive from the accident area. He states $300 and then he stated the charge will be $360.00. The charge was $360 and he also stated that we were dumb for not having it towed to his yard. As soon as I told him our tow truck driver is here he took off in my sister's car and also told her if she didn't hurry he was going to take her car to his yard. We asked the officer if the other car was going to get towed as well and he stated yes he is coming back for that car as well. The officer even reached in the tow truck drivers ice chest and helped himself to a drink. The officer kept telling us too late although we told the tow truck driver from Walt's that we did not want it towed he proceeded to hook up the vehicle. No limit towing was willing to charge us less then triple times his amount. He was very rude and did not care about the situation while my niece and nephew were in the car crying. Worst ever. My Mercedes was towed here after someone was pulled over , driving without a valid license. I do not know who it was, as I gifted the vehicle to my son, who in turn loaned it to someone who failed to return the car. I received a notice in the mail stating that I am responsible for the vehicle and the towing fees because I was still listed as the owner with the DMV. I borrowed the money to get the car, I called to inform the tow yard I was on my way to get the car, I was told to just wait until Monday , as it would be the same price due to " gate fees" that will be charged after 5 ( even though hours are listed as open until 7). Monday, when I call to inform Walt that I'm on my way, he says I will not be able to get the car due to another party claiming they are the new owners ( persons not known to me or my son). So, I let it go. A few days later I received a letter stating the recovery fees , extra fees for not picking the car up, administrative fees, auction fees, AND... notice that they will be auctioning the vehicle off and I will need to relinquish my ownership, in addition to the fees. I call again, state my confusion because I was on my to get the car a week prior when told they would not release the vehicle to me. My opinion is that the entire situation is shady as hell, they want to keep my Mercedes' and have the nerve to charge me exorbitant fees and all around unpleasant and rude people. Steer clear of this train wreck of an operation if at all possible! read more

I called and my Insurance Company uses Walt's Towing in Fresno. I received a call and to my surprise in 8 minutes Sal from Walt's Towing in Fresno called me and was asking for the gate code to get in to my complex! He was off working hours but took the time anyway to come and help me! Got my car started, went to my appointment on time and new battery next day! Returning home from a cross country trip, our travel trailer blew a tire - less than 200 miles from home ! Pulled off to the side of the road on I-5 a bit north of Kettleman City, called our road service provider. We felt as if we were in the "middle of nowhere". Walt's Towing responded via telephone to verify our position because our road service told Sal we were Walnut Creek - 200 miles away. Sal apologized telling us it would take him an hour to get to our location. NO PROBLEM. We weren't going anywhere. The tire had shredded down to the rim ! My husband told Sal to drive safely because Sal's safety was more important than getting to our location FAST. We knew we were going to have to wait because we were on I-5, a long, sometimes desolate, freeway. Thank goodness it wasn't the middle of summer. Sal called at least once to let us know he was on his way. He asked if we could send a photo of the blown tire to make sure he had the right tools. We had blown a tire 3 yrs ago and the steel belted tire wires wrapped around the rim and it took a lot of work to remove all the wire before we could get the rim off. Fortunately, this was not the case this time. Sal arrived in a little less than an hour and was pleasant, friendly and so respectful. He kept calling my husband "sir". Sal is high energy and an example of the epitome of CUSTOMER SERVICE. He worked quickly to replace the blown tire with our spare tire/rim, all the while engaging in friendly chatter with my husband. Sal had us back on the road in no time. My husband, being a southern boy from Mobile, AL, hugged Sal and thanked him profusely for coming to our rescue. Sal is professional, informative and overall a great guy to deal with. He kept me updated once my car was ready to leave the house and also when it arrived to the dealership. The price is just right for a tow and equipment needed to get my car ready. My car was not able to start nor get into neutral, thus would need to be dragged if used a flat bed. My Toyota Corolla had a Check Engine light come on and was running really rough with loss of power. I feared the worst and called Walt's Towing after seeing their good reviews on Yelp. My BMW X5 brokedown on the way to the office one morning. I called Walt's and they said they could pick me up in 15-20 minutes. I had meetings and scheduled a time later in the morning for the driver to meet me. Ken called 10 minutes ahead of the meeting time to confirm the location and meeting time. He arrived on time at the location. Once he arrived he diagnosed the possible issue and load my car for a tow to my mechanic. Their rate was very reasonable. I left him and returned to work.
