We decided to replace our bathroom countertop with zinc. We bought an antique sink from The Sink Factory and created a wooden base for the sheet metal with holes for the sink and our existing Grohe fixtures. We sent the project out for bid and Walter Mork promised the most for the least. No other fabricator offered zinc sheet metal as thick. And we were delighted with the results. The workmanship was very precise. The counter top is lustrous and very strong. We used two products from Rotometals in San Leandro to enhance and preserve its beauty: Zinc Sheet Cupric Sulfate and EverClear 2 Part Solvent Urethane Resin respectively. We used Cupric Sulfate to tarnish it slightly and the EverClear to prevent additional staining. read more

Not happy about this one. To summarize: no written estimate, too busy to send a repair technician so an installer was sent who could not fix the problem even with the new parts in hand, the tech was summoned to complete the job and I was charged for all the time of both men. Oh, and I was promised a selection of new thermostats. The installer produced a used thermostat in the box of another product which he offered to install. I ended up going to Ace hardware for a new thermostat which the real tech installed. Not professional. Not good. And the furnace has failed to go on twice since. Once on Christmas. And, no, it was not because I bought the thermostat. It was because they did not repair the furnace correctly. read more

It was not a straight forward job due to age and condition of the house. They made it all work. Terrific crew of three got the job done very smoothly on schedule. May be they can do good or bad work, my best guess: you will never know. First impressions is that they are extremely informal, we spent almost two hours going over the work that needed to be done with Berkeley Choate. He took notes, gave some ideas and committed to deliver an estimate in a week's time. Aparently Berkeley Choate went on vacations, then came back. After repeated calls he finally sent out an email apologizing about the delays and committed to deliver the estimate. Nothing. He stopped answering emails, he stopped answering calls and when we called the office the lady that answers the phone said that they have a lot of complaints about the informality of Mr. Berkeley Choate. The last time we called the Walter Mork office the lady said that the estimate would be delivered at the end of the same day. Nothing happened. Obviously, there is no one accountable in that office. At the end, we wasted our time, don't waste yours. I can only imagine what would be the response of Walter Mork if you had any problems with the work they do. Cheers read more

Never a problem, prices are reasonable, delivery times good, they know what they are doing. They work best with good drawings and detailing, that's true with anyone in the construction industry. As an independent contractor for 30+ years, I have experienced a full spectrum of interactions with suppliers and make this observation without hesitation: everyone looks good until there is a problem/misunderstanding and at that point you learn what an individual are made of. We had a slight carbon monoxide leak on our old floor furnace & PG&E suggested that we install a draft diverter. They shut off the gas valve until we could get it repaired. After 2 weeks of searching for this part,I was sent to "Walter Mork" as I could not buy this part anywhere. They manufactured the part for me. Then our handyman said he could not come to install it as he felt due to the Corona virus, he could not leave his house. Since this was our only heating source (& it was cold and we were using the oven for heat) I called Walter Mork to see if they could install it. Understandably they were making very limited technician calls because of the Pandemic. Berkeley Choate sent his very competent technician Mike Hudley. He was amazing & of course practiced "social distancing" while installing this part. We are eternally grateful to Mike, Berkeley & Fiona for giving us our heat source back. They were all very professional but yet it was apparent that "Customer service" is alive and well and it is their priority! We will recommend this company with 5 stars! read more

We have worked with Walter Mork Company for over eight years and have always been thrilled with their service. Unfortunately, with the recent management change the way the company conducts business changed as well. Many experienced and skilled employees left the company and the leadership has really dropped the ball. No longer are they responsive and professional, we wait for a week to have an appointment scheduled only to have no tech show up. Quotes are inaccurate, invoices that follow are much higher than the quotes. In cases where there is a small problem with a quick fix, we are told that the entire heater needs to be replaced, requiring unnecessary expenditures. Example: they installed a heater in one of our units and they did such a poor job that the place for changing the filter is inaccessible. It took us over two months to have the problem fixed. Even then this all was shrugged off by the manager as no big deal. When we tried to escalate this problem to the owner, we were sent back to the very people who are creating these problems and overcharging us for service. It's really difficult to extricate ourselves from Walter Mork while our heaters are under warranty, so we continue to fall victim to how they operate. There are many other reputable and honest heating companies in the area. Do yourself a favor, avoid Walter Mork and go elsewhere. read more

I asked Mork Co. to have a metal antique sconce welded in order to have it repaired. Staff told me they would weld it from the back, to preserve its look. The owner decided to lay a weld down across the front of the antique -- when it could have just as easily been been done in the back. He failed to understand how silly that approach was when I expressed to him my complete amazement; and, he just walked away from me, abandoning his reputation. This long time company in Berkeley does a great variety of metal work to include sheet metal work, welding, and, almost anything involving metal of any kind. I just had fabricated a replacement door for my fireplace, a door to empty the ashes out on the outside of the chimney. The old door had rusted/corroded after many years exposed to the elements. Walter Mork did an OUTSTANDING job of making a new frame out of stainless steel, perfect welds, nice and smooth and clean. Also the latches, hinges, etc were fantastic!! Sized perfect and completed when they estimated they would finish the job. The staff up front, (Melissa and Wendy) were so nice and pleasant as well. The finished product turned out to not be only a door/metal frame, but rather a Work of Art!! I have, over the years had them fabricate a variety of metal products to include gutter work for roofs, metal back splash sheets for behind sinks, etc. Their work is always to perfection, on time and of the highest quality. We, as well as our clients are VERY happy with their work. Laura in the office was very helpful in the initial contact, and from there, Berk took over and met with me to review scope of work. Berk submitted multiple drawings with a couple of options that was very useful to the decision making process. The Lead Tech who came out to the job worked smart and carefully to insure a good fit of this very large stainless steel component.
