!40 yard Par 3
Andy B.

This is an update to a previous review. The course has undergone some updating. 1) #3 is now a Par 3, 140 yards from the Blue Tee. It was previously a par 4, dogleg left that did put the houses on the left in the path of wayward shots. The new par 3 is fairly straight forward, however you're hitting straight into the wind, which tunnels through the valley. Wind is this courses' defense. 2) #4 is now a par 5, 485 yards from the Blue Tees. Again, you hit your tee shot straight into the wind. Second shot needs to be a low runner, that cuts the corner as close as possible. The green sits uphill from the fairway that's going to be protected by the wind and bunkers. 3) #9 is now lengthen to a par 4, 385 yards from the Blue Tee. The course had shortened the hole by moving the tee box across the bridge to prevent tee shorts going into the child care center. This left a short par 4. The tee box has now been moved further back towards the number 6 tee box. 4) The trees at the number 7 tee box had been cut back....but I can see the wet winter has allowed them to grow back some. Playing from the Blue Tees hit your tee shot through the shoot and make sure you aim left. 5) Cart paths have been repaired/replaced. Rocks from the fairways have been removed. Generally, the fairways are in good shape and the greens are fast. Overall, I found the golf course was in its best shape ever. Its a simple track that's great for a quick mid-week nine. No driving range but there is a small pitching area (bring your own balls). Getting onto Ft Shafter is a breeze, just make sure you have a mask on at pass and and ID and checking in at the golf shop.

Bay View strikes an impressive balance between the two. The ball-tracking technology is excellent, the bays are well maintained, and whether you're dialing in wedges, working on dispersion, or just enjoying a casual round with friends, everything works exactly as it should. I've been to Topgolf locations across the mainland, and honestly, Bay View gives them real competition. In some ways, I'd argue it's even better. Instead of staring at parking lots or city skylines, you're hitting balls surrounded by lush tropical scenery with Hawaiian trade winds and mountain views. It's an experience you simply can't recreate on the mainland. The food, drinks, and service all complemented the atmosphere, making it easy to spend several hours here without ever feeling rushed. Whether you're a scratch golfer looking to fine-tune your game or someone just swinging a club for the first time, Bay View has created something special. It's proof that Hawaiʻi can take a great concept and elevate it with a setting no one else can match.

We haven't seen our friends in a while and thought this would be an amazing gathering place! We can hit the range and catch the SNF Rams vs. Broncos game. We booked the middle room for SNF on September 27, 2026 from 2PM-6PM (4 hours). The ad also said to bring your own food so we decided to pick up some KJ's on the way to Bayview. When we arrived, the room was stocked with range balls and we also ordered some beers, chips and salsa, and cheesesticks. The Rams/Broncos game ended up being a fun watch and we had a great time hitting range balls and catching up. Our friend snuck away to pay the bill. Later on, we discovered the bill came out to about $476 after tax. Our friend added on a generous $82 tip for a total of about $558. Here is what future visitors should know (TL;DR This is a Scam): 1. Scamview Driving Range charged us $75/hour even though we mentioned the NFL discount in both the phone conversations and email confirmation bookings. The Instagram ad says "50% discount" and states a rate of $37.50/hour. We booked this room because we interpreted that to mean 50% off of $37.50 = $18.75/hour 2. The ad clearly states "bring your own food or order from us." Scamview said Oh yeah? Eat this $30 outside food fee too. The ad doesn't mention this extra charge. Btw, we ordered food and drinks from Scamview 3. We were also charged a higher price on range balls that we were specifically told to get from the staff 4. When we inquired about all of this, the Scamview worker pushed back, made excuses, and was confrontational 5. Our friend tipped $82 on the inflated, overcharged, fraudulent bill. The only service the workers provided was to bring us the overpriced range balls. Be better.

Not to mention the amazing lilikoi cheesecake, flourless chocolate cake and bread pudding... I didn't take a photo coz that'd be a little weird to me since it's not an actual restaurant. But they might as well just open a real restaurant coz more people gotta try their food. But yeah back to their interior. It's classy, sophisticated and welcoming. The view with floor to ceiling glass windows is just impeccable. The staff were also friendly. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with Japanese bidet and warm toilet seats. We were fortunate enough to experience the country club. Drove past this few times heading to kahala hotel, and finally got to see how it's like inside and taste their food!

A couple interesting holes, and some scenic on the water but the most overrated golf experience ever. Many fairways diseased, and greens were bumpy and some sanded. Nice staff. My husband and I have golfed at some of the top golf course in the world, that were so much cheaper. They are relying solely on their association with the PGA. Without that, it would be a couple steps up to a municipal.

Also contrasting is the fact that Hawaii Prince is free to play and eat there and Oahu Country Club is for members only, and we are talking very exclusive and invite-only. I saw Barak Obama's face on the wall of members out of hundreds. I am sure I could spend hours looking at all the photos and names and recognize a few big names. The 100 yr old birthday party was hosted by my well-to-do friends, it was their mother/grandmother, so this was a special event for sure. The banquet servers were very attentive and the endless mimosas kept coming. The appetizers were the best thing - crunchy veggie spring rolls, ahi won tons, cucumber with smoked salmon and soft steamed pork bao. For our main course it was ahi steaks in creamy brown butter sauce and a scoop of white rice, or filet mignon. I had the ahi steaks and they were cooked to perfection! The entertainment was hired by my friend, a local newscaster who was a complete and utter hoot who made the entire party fun! Some of us sang very bad karaoke and I felt sorry for the baby shower next door! Our bartender around the corner was Keith, and he was stellar! I wish I had cash to tip him but I came to the Country Club empty-handed. Maybe I can convince my friend to take me back for cocktails so I can tip him very well. Cosmos were super good, liquid bliss and super smooth. The grounds are other worldly beautiful, with soaring mountains and forest in the background and the ocean facing the other way. I don't play golf but hear this course is super difficult but even if you play horribly at least you have the views to soak in. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, so awesome. I retreat back into my scratched-up car, second-hand dress and bag and Nordstrom Rack shoes a few years too old and dream of a day I can come back here again.

However, my shoulder unfortunately developed a recurring dislocation that worsened over time, and I was forced to give up golf despite my reluctance. Even so, thanks to my golf-loving friends, I still feel excited just looking at a beautiful green, even if I can't play anymore. This time, I visited Oahu Country Club for a party hosted by my lawyer's firm. The event was held in a private banquet room overlooking the lush greens, and it was a wonderful experience with delicious food, drinks, and pleasant live music. As expected, the clubhouse cuisine was refined and impressive. There was even a nigiri sushi station, which made me especially happy as a Japanese guest. The club is conveniently located about a 14-15 minute drive from my home. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that even non-golfers can become members, so I immediately started looking into it (laugh). After all, being able to enjoy great food and wine while taking in such a beautiful view sounded very appealing. Unfortunately, the membership fee comes with about six zeros in USD, and we quickly gave up the idea... That said, it definitely reignited my passion for golf. The course at Oahu Country Club is set within a forest and features significant elevation changes, making it quite challenging for beginners. However, it offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy golf surrounded by nature. The clubhouse itself has a casual atmosphere, but there is a dress code--such as wearing collared shirts--so don't forget to check your outfit before heading in for a meal.
