WALT is hands-down one of our favorite stops in Napa, especially if you're into Pinot. The tasting room is inside a converted old home, which gives it this really cool, relaxed, almost neighborhood feel. It's comfortable, low-key, and just a great place to settle in for a flight. We did the signature tasting, and everything we tried had its own personality. The Blue Jay and the Clos Pepe were our two favorites--super smooth and full of flavor without trying too hard. Cortney took care of us during our visit, and she was a total rock star. Super knowledgeable without being pushy, fun to talk to, and really made the experience feel personal. You can tell she loves what she does. If you're looking for a winery that's approachable, not overly commercial, and pours some seriously good Pinot, WALT is a great choice. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Napa. read more

This was my first time stopping at Walt. They primarily focus on chardonnays and pinot style wines. Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating for our larger group. She was attentive to our tables and was able to seat us somewhat together on their back door balcony area. The outdoor area was nice, but not something I would recommend for a super windy day like Saturday as we had some of the plants blown on/over us. The wines were great, my favorite was actually the chardonnay at the beginning and a merlot that was not a part of our flight. Great spot to visit in Napa, parking in the area is a little tricky because there are multiple businesses in the area that share the space so I would recommend being a little early to be able to find parking. read more

While a member of BACA (Sebastopol) wine club I always opted to pick up my wines rather than have them delivered to my home. This was less about saving on shipping costs than it was about taking advantage of wine club member perks. The wine club offers free tastings for members and their guest and given what most places charge for tastings these days, this is a perk worth taking advantage of. It doesn't hurt that the tasting can be easily followed by a meal at acoss-the-street neighbor, Oxbow Market. With Walt Wines Napa not sitting on a vineyard property (it's in a house on a residential street) the experience isn't the grand one for which people trek to Napa. It's low key and focused entirely on excellent Pinot Noir. Though many people enjoy hearing all about each wine they're sampling or about to sample, I don't count myself among them. Somehow, each time I've come to Walt my servers have intuitively understood this and have not made themselves and their spiel a big part of my experience. This is why, despite the fact that wine club members can enjoy tastings at Walt Napa, Walt Sonoma, BACA (known for Zins), or the high-falutin' Hall (St. Helena) I preferred to do all pick-ups at this location. Wine club membership is a transitory thing. Like most, I'll join for a bit to take advantage of the perks before moving onto a new club and that's just what I did with Walt/BACA/Hall. But while I was a member, I always found Walt Napa to be a desirable experience and a good pre-game to whatever I might enjoy next, at Oxbow. read more

This was my second time at Walt, but my first time being at the Napa location. It is centrally located in downtown Napa, across the street from the Oxbow public market. Plenty of parking on the street or at the lot next door. We were welcomed by our wine expert who very last minute accommodated to our large group of 10. We started off with a delicious white wine & then moved on to the Pinots. Aside from the 4 tastings included, we were able to taste a very delicious Merlot off of the menu which was my favorite. Not the friendliest/welcoming tasting room in downtown Napa. We walked in on Saturday at noon, and were greeted by rude stares at the bar. The heavy set older lady told us they were busy with a lot of reservations coming up, so offered us a standing tasting at the bar, or to come back in a few hours. When we told her we were fine at the bar, she seemed disappointed because she was hoping we would leave. Another server ended up seating us at a table, and was wonderful during our tasting. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. They're known for Pinots, but only one stood out to us, their flagship Bob's Ranch, so we left with a bottle. Ironically, the tasting room was empty when we were there, and we only saw one group come in. So not sure what she meant about them being busy. First impressions are important. We come to Napa every other month to pick up wines from our memberships, but don't think we'll be back to Walt. read more

Came here with a group of friends for the wine and chocolate pairing - they set us up in the back room. The selection was great and the gal serving us was so nice, answering all of our questions. Have had similar great experiences with their Sonoma location. My only recommendation is that they had all of the wines in glasses vs jars. I came with my friend here who has been a wine member at Walt for years. Our host knew her by name and brought us out a Rose to try. I'm more of a Cabernet girl, but I feel like I got to try some great Pinot Noirs here that I enjoyed! Bob's Ranch was my second favorite. We tried a Chardonnay that was delicious too! We sat on the couches outside and watched the downtown life of Napa pass by. I have seen this little spot on the corner for years, but never experienced it until today. If you're nearby or just stopping by the Oxbo for lunch, this is a great spot! I was impressed by how wide of a span their membership reaches with access to 4 locations with complimentary wine tastings with one membership at WALT Tasting Rooms & HALL St. Helena. Our last day in Napa was cloudy, overcast and was either too chilly without your jacket and too hot with a jacket. Just not a real nice day for a walk through downtown Napa. We had a great breakfast at a pub, stopped for a fair to middling wine tasting and were headed back to the market to take something back to our room for dinner I remembered that the bar tender at our hotel told us there was this little house near the market that did tastings We were tired, but since they were doing Pino Noir tastings we decided to check them out. We were fortunate to get a space as they were almost full So glad we did, the young lady serving us was very interactive and explained where along the Oregon and California coast each specific grapes were harvested. All their wines were superior to anything we've tasted in the last three days. So much so that my daughter joined the wine club. and sincere we also bought bottles of wine to take with us, we didn't have to pay for the actual wine tasting itself These people know how to host a wine tasting. Excellent tasting experience. Cortney was our host who was so friendly and had so much insight into the wines and shared many fascinating back stories about winemaker Kathryn Hall. She made our experience fun and memorable, really appreciate her light hearted personality and passion for the wines. We just finished lunch and wanted to do a tasting, this cute place was right across from the market so super convenient. I was hesitant to go at first because it just looked so quiet little did i know this place is what i needed. I'm so sorry i didn't get her name but the woman there was great, so graciously went over the tasting options and glass options. We opt for a glass of their rosé and sat outside on the couch people watching. This was so relaxing to just sip some refreshing and lightly sweet rosé and take in a little sun while people watching. Dont be fooled even though it is a house there is plenty of comfortable seating inside and outside. And the members are nice! read more

So my friends invited me for a private tasting with them at the winery that they love. Situated in a nice area of Napa across from the Oxbow, I was sort of taken back when I first saw it. It looked more like a house than a wine tasting room. Not sure what I was expecting, but obviously per my perception created in my mind, I must of been already partaking in the crimson delight before arriving !! Lol When we got there, it was a nice tasting room. This must of originally been a home, and then it converted into this great place? Not sure of the history, y'all might want to check it out and let me know. Just saying! :) This place felt very comfortable and the staff and owner make you feel welcome from the time you arrive for your designated timed appointment. I can tell you, they truly make it much more comfortable for you during this pandemic while following every protocol in place. Paige was our Lead Wine Educator, and let me tell you, she knew her stuff! Not only was she nice and informative, she took wine knowledge to the next level. Walt Wines is very fortunate to have a great representative and educator of wines. She let us know that she grew up in Wine Country, for that very reason and her love for it, it all lends well to a nice presentation. I love this dog-friendly, easy breezy, delicious place! Big shoutout to Dee, who lead our tasting of 6 wines from wineries across 1,000 miles of the west coast. He answered all our questions, and shared a map where each wine comes from, Walt water bottles included. Across the street from the hustle and bustle of the Oxbow market, you'll find a little blue house converted to a tasting room that while close to the chaos of the Oxbow is a respite from the huge crowds and noisy, chaotic atmosphere. Here you'll taste some exceptional wines, including many single vineyard designate Pinot Noirs. The wines are good and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, vineyard locations, farming methods, winemaking, etc. They're pretty strict about outside food not being allowed so enjoy your Oxbow food across the street before your tasting. read more

This was my first stop during my wine tasting trip at Napa this past Saturday and it was a perfect start! I loved the location (right in the middle of downtown Napa and across the street from their public market). Our server Josh was THE BEST, if you can definitely request him. Not only does he know his stuff about wine, but I just loved how he made us feel comfortable and encouraged us to just have fun with wine. I purchased the Priority Wine Pass (which I recommend to get a lot of good deals) so I was able to get a 2 for 1 special on their chocolate and wine pairing. The chocolates looked so cool and all tasted amazing with their wines. We were able to try 6 wines with 6 chocolates which is a great deal. I ofcourse was so pleased with the service and the wines that Josh paired for us that I had to buy a bottle of my fave: the Brown Ranch Pinot Noir. Not only was it easy to build rapport with Josh because of his bubbly/kind demeanor, but he was able to answer all of mine wine related questions. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and our out of town friends were impressed with the wines. My only feedback is to management, they were pretty inflexible in making our reservation. We used to love Walt/Hall and my mom even got a membership but lately it feels like some of the staff is snooty and unwilling to accommodate people. Love love!!! So my husband and I are members of Hall, and one of the things that attracted us to the membership is the amount of sister wineries we can taste at. They have their other Walt tasting room in Sonoma, but we haven't made it out that way, so when we found out they acquired this location we were excited! We finally made our way here, after having lunch at Gott's. This location is wonderful, parking can be a little challenging if you go when it's busy, and with the tasting room setup I'd recommend making a reservation. We got lucky and didn't need a reservation. Just know the wines here are primarily pinots and chardonnays. And they do not disappoint!! The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive!! The Bob's ranch pinot was definitely our favorite. I look forward to coming back. I love this location because you can grab some lunch, some wine and then some dessert!! Great location right on the corner of Vernon and First street. Ideally located across the street from the (always) busy Napa Oxbow public market! Luckily we found a spot to park in the parking lot next door. The location is small, but they did a great job renovating! It did seem busy when we walked in because there was no seating available. We got started at the bar and luckily within a few minutes one of the smaller groups left and we snagged their spot! There was another large group (only about 7 people) that made it seem loud in there, because the second they left, it was dead silence lol. Fair warning, it's a small location so maybe be prepared to stand if the limited seating isn't available. Our wine educator Jeff was awesome! Thanks buddy! and his co workers were all very helpful and kind as well. Service and wine is 100% 5-stars, and I really recommend this place to anyone whose going to be stopping by the Oxbow Market. The only reason I rate it with 4 stars is: 1. They definitely need more seating, even if it's just outside or high top seating... idk they need to make it work somehow. 2. They need to start serving wines by-the-glass! Sometimes 5/6 wines is too much!* *Follow up to BTG Theory: I watched an older local couple come in to check the place out, and Jeff was super cool about it but the couple got annoyed that they didn't serve wine BTG and left...I get it, sometimes a full flight is too much!
