This was my first time stopping at Walt. They primarily focus on chardonnays and pinot style wines. Our hostess was very friendly and accommodating for our larger group. She was attentive to our tables and was able to seat us somewhat together on their back door balcony area. The outdoor area was nice, but not something I would recommend for a super windy day like Saturday as we had some of the plants blown on/over us. The wines were great, my favorite was actually the chardonnay at the beginning and a merlot that was not a part of our flight. Great spot to visit in Napa, parking in the area is a little tricky because there are multiple businesses in the area that share the space so I would recommend being a little early to be able to find parking.

Not the friendliest/welcoming tasting room in downtown Napa. We walked in on Saturday at noon, and were greeted by rude stares at the bar. The heavy set older lady told us they were busy with a lot of reservations coming up, so offered us a standing tasting at the bar, or to come back in a few hours. When we told her we were fine at the bar, she seemed disappointed because she was hoping we would leave. Another server ended up seating us at a table, and was wonderful during our tasting. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. They're known for Pinots, but only one stood out to us, their flagship Bob's Ranch, so we left with a bottle. Ironically, the tasting room was empty when we were there, and we only saw one group come in. So not sure what she meant about them being busy. First impressions are important. We come to Napa every other month to pick up wines from our memberships, but don't think we'll be back to Walt.

Came here with a group of friends for the wine and chocolate pairing - they set us up in the back room. The selection was great and the gal serving us was so nice, answering all of our questions. Have had similar great experiences with their Sonoma location. My only recommendation is that they had all of the wines in glasses vs jars. I love to do a quick little sip of each for comparison before enjoying a whole glass. Couldn't do that with this setup.

Amazing tasting room next to Oxbow Market. Grab food before coming. Long time Napa regulars. John was fantastic sharing how food and the wines would go well together. We already loved Hall and decided to sign up for the club because of the great experience here.

I came with my friend here who has been a wine member at Walt for years. Our host knew her by name and brought us out a Rose to try. I'm more of a Cabernet girl, but I feel like I got to try some great Pinot Noirs here that I enjoyed! Bob's Ranch was my second favorite. We tried a Chardonnay that was delicious too! We sat on the couches outside and watched the downtown life of Napa pass by. I have seen this little spot on the corner for years, but never experienced it until today. If you're nearby or just stopping by the Oxbo for lunch, this is a great spot! I was impressed by how wide of a span their membership reaches with access to 4 locations with complimentary wine tastings with one membership at WALT Tasting Rooms & HALL St. Helena. At this location, they said you can even book a wine tasting for your friends to enjoy when you're not around. Our server was so kind and friendly and knew a lot about our wine selection. We felt very taken care of here! Don't pass this place up!

Our last day in Napa was cloudy, overcast and was either too chilly without your jacket and too hot with a jacket. Just not a real nice day for a walk through downtown Napa. We had a great breakfast at a pub, stopped for a fair to middling wine tasting and were headed back to the market to take something back to our room for dinner I remembered that the bar tender at our hotel told us there was this little house near the market that did tastings We were tired, but since they were doing Pino Noir tastings we decided to check them out. We were fortunate to get a space as they were almost full So glad we did, the young lady serving us was very interactive and explained where along the Oregon and California coast each specific grapes were harvested. All their wines were superior to anything we've tasted in the last three days. So much so that my daughter joined the wine club. and sincere we also bought bottles of wine to take with us, we didn't have to pay for the actual wine tasting itself These people know how to host a wine tasting. If you're in Napa check out Walt wine tastings

Excellent tasting experience. Cortney was our host who was so friendly and had so much insight into the wines and shared many fascinating back stories about winemaker Kathryn Hall. She made our experience fun and memorable, really appreciate her light hearted personality and passion for the wines. Needless to say, we were more than happy to sign up as new members of the Walt/Hall/Baca family. The tasting room is also super accessible in the downtown Oxbow plaza so it's easy to find. Very excited to explore all the new adventures our new membership will take us! Oh and obviously the Pinots are AMAZING here.

Thank you John. We had our Pinot noir and Truffle Tasting today and you gave us so much nice informations and background about it all! We really enjoyed your company and views on the wines. Hope you'll remember us well, and we'll see you maybe on the next Octoberfest ;-) All best wishes! Dennis & Marcel

Let me be transparent: it was late morning, I had just had breakfast, and I decided what my body…read moretruly needed was a cocktail. A breakfast cocktail. Judge me if you want, I've already judged myself and still ordered the drink, so your opinion is irrelevant. I Googled "good drinks near me" like a responsible adult, and BOOM, this place appeared like a gift from the cocktail gods. Two minutes away? On foot? I practically floated there. I told myself I'd stroll and enjoy the scenery. I did. I was very sophisticated about it. When I arrived, I found out there's a whole bar hiding inside Oxbow Market. A bar. Inside a market. Genius. I walked in and immediately forgot why I was confused because it was full-on foodie heaven, and the bar reached out with invisible hands and pulled me straight to it. I had no choice. It was gravity. That's when I met Lauren. Lauren was behind the bar, doing her thing, radiating good energy, and I said to myself, "I must sit here and be her problem for the next hour." She was so warm and welcoming that I felt personally invited. I, a stranger. She smiled the whole time, which either means she genuinely loved the conversation or she is an incredible professional. Either way, 10/10. Now, I am notoriously indecisive. I could spend 45 minutes choosing between two identical options. Lauren, a saint, walked me through the entire menu without a single eye roll (that I could see). I finally landed on the boozy strawberry slushy with a prosecco float. Could I have done without the bubbles? Probably. Did I finish every last drop anyway? Absolutely. We talked and laughed like two old friends who had just met, which is my favorite kind of friendship. Lauren also helped me figure out where to eat lunch and dinner once I told her I only eat seafood , and she delivered. The woman is a resource. If you're in Napa, come here. It's adorable. The staff will make you feel like a regular on your first visit, and yes, the prices are Napa prices, meaning everything costs what it costs because Napa has decided it is fancy, and we have all agreed to go along with it. No complaints. Check them out!

Review #1,016 Posted on 3.16.26…read more We came here for lunch while in Napa on Saturday March 7th. They've got a small bar top area to sit at, maybe 10 seats or so. My wife wanted to try caviar, so we actually gave it a spin here for our 1st time. I'd always been nervous about what the taste of caviar would be like. Glad I got to try it out at least once. It basically was a bit crunchy & a bit salty, other than that nothing of note for me at least. I get the price to an extent as it's not day to obtain, but man, it's expensive for what you get, not just here but any place you buy it. Probably a one time thing for me. The other item we got was one of their paninis & salads to share, and some waters. They've basically got a bar top, and most people seem to order their frozen machine drinks. I believe you can pair the frozen flavor with the wine, champagne, etc with it. Nice little spot inside Oxbow to get a quick bite and drink when in town.

She knew so much about the caviar, explained everything, and she explained info about the different champagnes to my friends too. In the 90s and early 00s they allowed well-behaved kids, and I remember being enchanted by the sheep cutouts, the pate and cheese, and the beautiful fountain. We eventually stopped being brought around, but my parents stayed members for decades. When I returned as an adult as guests on my parent's membership, the visits were wonderful. Servers were warm, the wine was phenomenal, the view stunning, and the food always great. After years of joining my parents, I finally became a member myself. Since then, visits with my husband have been inconsistent. To be clear, WE are consistent- we dress well, behave respectfully, never overindulge, and tip generously. Most of the time service is attentive, we taste everything, order plenty of food, and buy lots of wine to take home. Friends have even joined because they loved the experience. But about a third of the time service feels strict, stingy, and inattentive, and I cannot understand why our treatment differs so much from my parents, even with the same servers. But, we came back again and again, because MOST off the time it's a dream. This past weekend, however, may cost them two memberships. We visited with two couples, one already a member and one interested in joining. We were dressed well, respectful, and ordered plenty of food. After asking for a couple more tastes to go with our next round, we were told there was a limit of four pours. When the server returned (I had asked for some time to reconsider the tastes if we were limited), she said three. Everyone agreed we were told four the first time. If this is a new policy, why did it change within minutes? Why weren't we informed the first time we asked to try something else? Service declined from there. No checking on shade, slow follow ups when we asked for additional accoutrements, and no water top offs unless we asked. We were absolutely mortified that our good friends we had invited had this as their first experience, after us spending years telling them about how magical it generally is here. We ended our visit early and spent our money at Iron Horse Vineyards, where we enjoyed hours of great wine and a beautiful view without being cut off. One of the couples actually ended up joining their wine club based on the stark differences. Domaine Carneros lost an additional membership, hundreds in purchases, and may lose two dedicated members. All it would have taken was a few more ounces and a little more time. When we visit wineries where we hold memberships, we expect to be treated as valued guests and to enjoy tasting as much of the menu as we can until we are finished. Little gifts sent to us on our membership anniversaries are cute, but where is that same sentiment when we're there in person? That doesn't seem like too much to ask for other wineries. I keep giving Domaine Carneros chances though, as I have so many amazing memories here. My parents were shocked when I told them. They had just visited and had the experience they have enjoyed for decades. So why didn't we? We now have to decide if keeping this membership is worth it. The wine is excellent and the views impeccable, but I am not sure I want to support a place that so clearly chooses who gets better treatment.

However, the truffle flavor that made it shine during the first visit was much more subdued on our second. Between the Big Eye Tuna and King Salmon Chirashi Bowl and Snake River flat iron steak bowl, the chirashi was the one we duped as the tuna and salmon was super fresh that it took self-control not to devour that entire bowl without saying a single word. The royal caviar bump was surprisingly the one thing that was underwhelming considering it is formerly a caviar bar. I probably should've just gotten the osetra with the uni toast instead.
