They tried to sell me on ridiculous payments and an exorbitant interest rate. They put little effort into customer service. I honestly did not want to go car shopping the day I went to Walt Sweeney. The previous dealership left me feeling insulted. Lyndse went above and beyond to make my car buying experience amazing. He made sure that I found the perfect Escape SE. Megan in the finance department helped me secure financing at a great rate (5%...yes, FIVE percent below the other dealer) and payments that were within my budget. When I arrived, the vehicle had been "sold the night before". I know this is possible, but they confirmed my test drive an hour before my appointment. This was an obvious scam. Safety Concerns In September I bought a 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid. When I asked if the price was fair I was assured it was because the car had passed a rigid inspection. I was shocked when I got a flat because there was no spare. I checked the manual and discovered there was supposed to be a tire sealant and inflator kit. I called and asked for the safety kit that was missing. After being passed on to five different people I was told "we don't do that." The manual on page 279 regarding the kit "failure to follow these guidelines could result in an increased risk of vehicle control, injury or death." I think we suffered the same risk by not having the kit. I wonder if the car had the "inspection" and if so how did they miss this serious absence or worse did they see it and ignore it. We love the car and appreciated the opportunity to be environmentally responsible by getting a hybrid. I am saddened by the irresponsible and unethical practices of the Walt Sweeny dealership. The absolute worst company to work with. Walt Sweeney also owns a van conversion company. My van came destroyed! It has been 2 months now and they have yet to fix one issue. My van is currently in a body shop, for which repairs were to be paid by Walt Sweeney and his company, they have yet to pay. I am being forced to pay over $3000 out of my own pocket to get my van back so it can be utilized in my own company. This has been an absolute nightmare. I have been dealing with Walt himself who has essentially been useless. He allows an inept employee to manage his company. Said employee has perpetually lied and showed zero mental capability to be in a, "VP of Operations", position. My vehicle conversion cost $133,000. When delivered, by the company Walt Sweeney hired, my running boards were destroyed, dent in the back door, wrap completely destroyed in the front, panel paint damage, EVERY window leaked, drivers side seatbelt locked in retraction, left break light didn't work and my countertops don't sit square on my cabinets. 2 weeks later the roof AC leaked water all over my treatment chair and new Absolute nightmare!!! I would highly recommend you avoid any business dealings with Walt Sweeney or any of his associates or companies. Snake oil salesman is being nice. I have submitted complaints to the state of Ohio and Indiana(location of the van conversion business) as well as the BBB. read more

Company will sell you a bad vehicle and claim it's your fault because of your credit! I purchased a certified used vehicle less than a year ago that has needed 8k in repairs. The company has proceeded to make reporting them difficult when asked for all service records they have done to it and asked for their certified qualifications. They repeatedly respond to reviews that I have been sent my requests but I still do not have it. Carefully read through their Facebook reviews, google reviews. Every complaint is answered with how it's the customers fault. Read the snarky responses to not just myself but plenty of others. If it's always the customers fault, I suppose not being able to purchase new means you don't deserve to drive. Not to mention the dangers of faulty vehicles. Especially with small children. It's truly sickening. 16k+ at a business is more than enough to not need more than simple things, like breaks. A certified vehicle shouldn't need engine work. They mention accountability, let's be accountable for selling faulty cars at a high price. I've bought several cars in my lifetime. I've been to buy here pay here lots that never needed such extensive work. I've had cash cars that didn't require this much. This is the most miserable, hateful company I have ever dealt with. No remorse. No compassion for the customers. Not to mention the expensive faulty work they did on the vehicle and denied claims to. If a vehicle is in your shop and breaks down a week later, a reputable company would make amends. They responded with, I had the work done elsewhere on public platforms when I reviewed only. I have receipts that say I did not. Not to mention, the warranty company would have never paid for the engine work if it had unapproved work done on it. The dishonesty is never ending. read more

I bought my car end of lease from them from another state - I live in California. While they helped me get financed, the sales and finance people didn't tell me I would have to process the paperwork at the DMV myself at a later time. Usually car dealers do this for you. So they sent the paperwork 2 weeks after my registration had already expired and several things were not properly filled out. So I had to pay penalties for the registration being late. If I had known they were not going to be taking care of the paperwork myself, I would have paid the registration in advance. Plus I had to resend the paperwork to Walt Sweeney again and go back to the DMV one more time at least. I asked them to comp the penalty costs and they refused. read more

Wow, what a difference a year makes. I was having issues with my vehicle and asked my wife to take it in. I had a list of things to check/correct. Much of the list was never looked at. They quoted me $600. to replace a fuel purge valve. The valve costs less than $40, and takes less than 5 minutes to replace. My previous review was a solid five. I still stand behind Lindsay as a great salesman, but I would not have anything serviced here. I am not sure of another answer except that they were trying to take advantage of my wife. She answered their survey, twice actually. No response. She got an email asking if she was satisfied with their answer. She informed them that she had never heard from them. Still nothing. I need to be able to trust that my vehicle is being fixed for a fair price, and that I can trust sending my wife and daughters there. It would have been great if they had ever answered any of my wife's messages. I thought I would check back in... After almost three months, still no reply or contact from Ford. Very sad. Where do I start!? This place is phenomenal! Great customer service and a wonderful staff from the receptionist, to the service guys and sales. I bought my first car here back in June 2015 and brought it here for regular service and maintenance. Every time I came in they greeted me with a smile and awesome service. In Feb 2016 I totaled the car I bought from there and was now in need of another one. I was in desperate need to find another car so Mr. Art and Mr. John Sweeney made it their duties to find me a car that was nice and in my budget. Had an issue with my wheel making noise. Mike from the service department and his team diagnosed it quickly and made a plan for repair. I have a premium warranty, which covered the issue. However on the day of, the warranty people wouldn't pay for the alignment, which of course is required to fix the car completely. The warranty rep at Walt Sweeney called and advocated for me and got that included. A bad wheel bearing, two bad ball joints, and an alignment only cost me $100. AND they drove me back and forth from home while the repair was being completed. (Art, the driver, is awesome). I'm very satisfied! read more

First off I know my way around a car, worked on my mustang for a whole day trying to resolve an issue. A friend of mine helped who is a certified tech and another person who worked at ford dealerships, and we all came to the same conclusion as to what was wrong. I needed a pcm reprogram. Only dealerships can do that since I do not have a proper tuner. I took my car here and told them the problem. They took a day and a half "diagnosing" to tell me the same thing I told them and that they couldn't do it. Then proceeded to charge me $160 anyway. My husband has bought all his cars from there, and always keeps up with the oil changes. I call and tell them he wants the usual oil change. When he got there he asked them to check the windshield wipers. I will say he is 97% deaf which is why I call and tell them what he wants. They suggested a 20000 service check, and thinking he was getting what he usually gets. The bill was over $600. As an elderly senior citizen I feel they saw him coming. A couple of places have the same thing for $99. I will say they probably did about $75 worth of things that needed to be done. WHich would had made it under $200. any where else. My interaction(s) with this Ford dealer began to deteriorate in late 2019 when I took my 2014 Focus is due to a leak coming from somewhere in the engine. The service dept. told me I had a cracked engine block and would $6000 (that's six thousand) in repairs to completely replace the engine block to fix a small leak. I took it to a repair garage (Timmons Repair on Delhi Pike) and was told the leak was caused by a bad water pump. Total cost to fix about $500. No problems since then. For obvious reasons, after that I was reluctant to take a car into Sweeney. However, in January of this year, my Ford Fusion broke down when I could not get the Shift "dial" out of the "P" position. (Park) Since the Fusion only had 39,000 miles on it I figured it would still be covered by the Powertrain Warranty which is for 60,000 miles or five years. So when I called, I was told I would have to wait for the transmission specialist because my problem was related to the transmission. Good. Verification for me that this was indeed related to the Transmission and would be covered. No such luck. When I went to pick the car up I was informed that it was not covered. No explanation beyond that. I protested to no avail. So I wrote the service department of Ford in Michigan. They agreed with me and reimbursed me the entire amount I paid plus they gave me, free, a 3 year extended Warranty! Great so far. However, a week after I got the Fusion back, the same thing happened again. Stuck in P (Park). You would think they would fix it for free since they just had "repaired" it a week or so earlier. Nope! the charged me $100 deductible and said it was covered under my Extended Warranty. (On top of all this they wanted to change my Transmission fluid for $200. The car had less than 40,000. The Owners Manual says change it @ 150,000 miles.) I'm 73 years old. I don't want to think they tried to take advantage of me because of my age but...... Be careful before you deal with this crowd. P.S. I know something about engines as I was a heavy Equipment Mechanic in the U.S. Navy Seabees. That knowledge probably saved me thousands of dollars. read more

The absolute worst dealer I've ever encountered! Sold me a complete piece of junk 4 months ago (though they did a great job of temporarily hiding the issues it had). Dangerously bad brake pads and rotors, bad/leaking struts, leaking roof which has caused damage to the inside of the car and damaged tie rods which has to be fixed before I can even get an alignment. I've called them for months trying to discuss the poor warranty they sold me as well as see if they were willing to do anything to help out with the issues (as multiple mechanics have confirmed the issues were known by the dealer upon sell and couldn't be something that happened in the short time I've owned it). However they refuse to return my calls, emails, or voice mails. I WOULD NEVER OFFER THIS COMPANY MY BUSINESS AGAIN AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO REFRAIN FROM DOING SO AS WELL! These guys are crooks. I was in the market for a 2022 Ford Maverick. They had one advertised on cars.com for $10K less than local dealers in Louisville. When I called them to find out the scam(their isn't $10K wiggle room on new cars between dealers), It was quite evident that the old bate and switch was alive and well at their dealership. They said the the advertised car was actually a customers car that had been ordered 8 months ago. I asked if the customer had canceled the order and the car was now available to buy. They said no, the customer was taking delivery. So the car was never available to sell, was advertised at an incredible low price to sucker you into calling them to generate sales. They did offer to put me on the ordering 9 month waiting list for one, or I could buy the same optioned truck advertised, and currently available, on there lot for $10K more. Dirt bags! read more

My girlfriend took her 2011 Ford Fusion here for a safety recall. Customer service was cold and unfriendly, suggested that it would probably have additional recalls due to the quality of the model (way to stand behind your product). Suggested an oil change as it was within 300 miles of the sticker, we agreed as it was $40 and figured it would be of higher quality than a one off place. My GF is Chinese and doesn't speak/understand English extremely well when spoken quickly. After we dropped off the car, Keith from Walt Sweeney/Quick Lane called her and had her authorize an additional $170 for a transmission fluid change. When she finally got me on the phone (I was at work)and asked me if it was worth it, she told me $117, I looked it up on the internet and seeing that they should generally cost around $75-$125, I told her it sounded about right. Not knowing that Keith said $170 on the phone. We showed up to a $230 bill with a rather pricey transmission fluid change and oil change that could have waited another 1000 miles. I feel like they took advantage of her on the phone, when I brought it up, Keith said "Yeah you should probably answer the phone next time". Also, we never received a call to pick up the car. When we dropped it off, they asked when we needed it by, we said 3pm. Having not heard from them, we showed up at 3:30 and the car was done. No call. BUYER BEWARE! READ BEFORE BUYING A CAR HERE! 2 years ago I posted the review below: "Great dealership - would come back again! Wonderful experience." Unfortunately I just tried to trade the vehicle that I bought here in to a different dealership where they ran a Carfax report for the vehicle and found that it had been totaled in Canada a year before I bought it and then shipped to the US where it could have a clean title! (Apparently this is something that happens and somehow legal to do it). So now the vehicle that I bought for $30,000 I found out today is only worth $10,000...and that is a good price for what they call my car a "salvaged" car. I pass this on to everyone who is thinking about buying a car from this dealership. Please think twice before buying a car from a dealership that has shady practices like this. Was it my fault for not diligently pulling and checking a Carfax myself? Absolutely! And I will not make that mistake ever again! Lesson learned! But a car dealership that does not look out for the best interest of their customers is not one that I would recommend to anyone and feel that I should warn others about. read more

In retrospect I am happy I suppose that I did not waste any time. I called and spoke with a gentleman who basically spent the entire call talking me out of coming. One could also see him as helping out so that I did not come for nothing, but without asking any questions to determine if it would be of value to come, he continued to tell me that Sales Reps will tell me that it is a good deal and get me into a car for 95.00 down but I may end up being put in a bad loan and so on and so forth. I am unsure at a point if he was talking about them or other lots. It was the oddest call and the most ridiculous thing ever. I called for a sales person and I got him. After which he told me that I could call the sales reps and see if they would be able to help me....I have good credit and I make good money, so I am really puzzled by this entire interaction. Lol. Needless to say, I have chosen a different lot and was pre approved. I will be picking up my car today. What else is this lot missing? Recently purchased a used car from Walt Sweeney Ford. First purchase from this dealer, but third used car we have purchased. After the purchase we took the car to our regular mechanic for an inspection. We had to replace the engine mounts, transmission mount and the front exhaust pipe, which was leaking exhaust into the interior of the vehicle. Very expensive repairs that I feel Walt Sweeney's mechanic should have indentified and fixed, prior to selling the car to anyone. These were not cosmetic or minor issues. These were safety issues, none of which were disclosed to us. If they had been, we would not have purchased the car. Never had this issue with any previous used car purchase. Same issue happens again and I had talked to several different employees and all of them lied to me about a recall issue. My car was towed to a different Ford dealership and was fixed under the recall with no issues. Walt Sweeney didnt even want to run diagnosis on the car before even seeing if it was under the recall or not. I will never go back there again. Not usually one to write bad reviews but i want to warn anyone who's considering using Walt Sweeney Ford for any kind of service. Buckle up because this is a long one. To start. I bought my 2014 Kia Forte from them 3 years ago. In addition to the car I also purchased the extended warranty. Fast forward to June of this year, my engine blows. Not really clear why, it was properly maintained/taken care of etc. but things happen. Since I bought the car there, got the car serviced there, and purchased the warranty from them I decided to take it to Walt Sweeney Ford. Figured it would be easiest. I had the car towed early July. I had already an appointment and called ahead to update the situation to be sure everything was in order. I was told the car would be looked at first thing in the morning. Ok no big deal. Didn't get a call. Waited a few days and called them. Oh the car still hadnt been looked at. Alright.. guess they're busy. Finally get told after a few(5ish) days that the engine is blown. They quoted us for a new engine and the repair - roughly 5k. No mention of my warranty or coverage I've been paying for the past 3 years. It wasn't until we brought it up and prodded them with my paperwork that they said oh actually yeah it is. Nice. Except now they're saying that they can't do the work and that they've never been able to do that kind of work. Huh. Ok. At this point I'm frustrated as hell and ready to move my car elsewhere. So the information is relayed and the cars going to be towed. EXCEPT. Now they lost the keys. Yeah. We wait over a WEEK because their key guy is out of town and you know obviously he's the only guy in Cincinnati who can make keys. Finally get the spare, get the car towed to Kia, and leave with promises that my fob will be replaced. Now after everything's said and done and my cars repaired I'm waiting for my actual key back. I call Walt Sweeney and remind them about the situation. Naturally they have no recollection. I ask for patty as she was the one who was initially helped us with the car (note: she is also the rudest person I've ever met :)). She finally remembers who we are, says she's going on vacation but she'll "put the order in" for the new key. Cool. After I get that confirmation from her I call the service manager next to confirm everything. No answer. No biggie leave a voice mail asking for him to call me back. About a week and half and STILL haven't heard from them. I call the service manager directly this time and finally get a hold of him. He assures me he's really sorry for everything and that no the key never got ordered (shocker). Again I'm assured that I'll get my key ASAP and he'll be in touch. Here's the finale: he calls me back after a day or so. Turns out they found my key. Guess they couldn't be bothered to actually look the first time around. If you've made it to the end of this review congrats. Like I said before I'm not one to write bad reviews. I'm in the service industry, I get things happen and get that a lot of times things are out of an employee's control. But this entire thing was straight up embarrassing. It took me over two months to get this entire thing sorted out. Not once did Walt Sweeney contact me. It was entirely left to me to remind them that my car was even there at all. We had a sample of the service department as well when have some accessories installed. The parts department had to order what he wanted, but they had everything the same day. Pat is great to work with and I highly recommend buying a car from him. He got us in our new car quickly and also got us a great deal on the Escape, extended warranty and financing. He also took time to show us all the new gadgets on the car and even setup our cell phone through the Escapes Bluetooth system. We really LOVE our new 2016 Ford Escape! It rides so smooth and has every amenity you can imagine (backup camera, Bluetooth, A/C, Auto, Power Everything, etc.) and the escape has lots of power on the highway and great gas mileage. Was told that it was covered under warranty and recall by the body shop manager and a service writer..Waited a week I had to call them to see what was going on..then was told nope..I would have to bring it in to have service look at it to determine if they would replace the hood. Why wasn't I told that when I went first time? They made it sound like no big deal. I'll just take my business somewhere else..Then they post some bogus answer on their site to my complaint that if I wanted it quoted I can come back in. A word of caution for anyone thinking of purchasing a vehicle from Walt Sweeney Ford. It is sunshine and roses until you're done with the sale, and a screw job from there on out! Absolutely not! I would not recommend this dealership. Today I had an issue with my moon roof on my F-150 not closing properly. Unfortunately it is Saturday and when I discovered it was broken Enterprise Rental had already closed. With heavy rain on the way, I immediately took it to the dealership to get it out of the weather and avoid interrior damage. Mind you I purchased the truck from Walt Sweeney and it is still under warranty. They refused to provide me with a loaner vehicle to drive while waiting on the repair, even though one is provided for in my warranty. Their customer service is nearly non-existent. While I do not agree that "the customer is always right", in this case I believe my request was not at all outlandish and should have been accommodated. Unfortunately this type of business operation is more the norm than the exception. Even after speaking with the owner's son, Walt Jr., I was unable to have the issue resolved. read more

Horrible liars cheaters!!! I purchased my car out excitement. And end up got so up set. As we was negotiating, because he wouldn't give the price any lower so he said he would give me few oil changes for free. End up hidden charges in the contract I found out days later as looking over the contract which you should do when dealing with those people. There a charge $100 for "VIP coupon book", which have my two "free" oil services in there. And another charge for few hundreds for "thief insurance" that insure if my car ever stolen I can have $2000 to come back to there place to purchase a new car with them. Those charges was not in the conversation. More than that, it have a small dent on the hood. I called to bring in to fix it.
