TL;DR: Happy with our experience…read more I'm always nervous about projects around the house and the people we hire to do the projects. My husband and I met with a few different bathroom remodeling companies to change out our uneven shower stall that pooled a lot of water to the side of the shower and therefore didn't drain. We decided to go with Rodney at Full Circle Kitchen & Bath. We were able to schedule an appointment for an estimate for the same day that we called him. When he arrived, he gave us a flat base price for the shower stall and the labor, and then told us how much the extra shelving, seat, and grab bar we wanted would cost on top of the base price. Once we called Rodney to tell him we wanted to move forward with the project, he sent us a contract to review via email within about a day. After we reviewed the contract and agreed to it, he visited our house again to sign the contract, collect the downpayment for supplies and re-measure the shower stall. Rodney uses Sentrel products for the showers he installs including the showers he installed at his own house. He ordered the Sentrel shower stall and other accessories and once those arrived, he called to schedule installation for that same week. Rodney is eager to start working early in the morning at 7am. He only works on one project at a time and doesn't split his time between clients, so there aren't half-finished projects that sit for days or weeks at a time when you hire him. He works weekends as well as weekdays. Rodney is prompt to answer questions via email and phone. My husband and I stayed home while Rodney and his assistant worked on the shower stall. They covered the carpet so it wouldn't get dirty or damaged. Rodney is a serious worker that strives to do a good job. He told us every time he was going to shut the water off and for how long it would be off, so we could prepare for that. He called us over to look at any strange house issues that would interrupt the progress and to get our opinions about how to proceed. We had a very uneven floor, floor joists too spaced apart, waterpipes that were coming up through the shower floor instead of behind the wall, and a giant hole carved out of one of the floor beams for the drainpipe. The new shower handle was defective and leaking, so Rodney put in a temporary handle for us to use the shower until the company sends a replacement that he can swap out. Also, he showed us how to change the handle ourselves if at some point in the future we decide that we want a new handle or need a new cartridge. Additionally, the previous owners had put up tile around the old shower stall on the walls that we wanted to keep if possible. Rodney was able to save that for us. Rodney also uses the expensive silicone sealant so there shouldn't be mold growth and we shouldn't have to re-caulk. He used Pex pipes to replace the copper pipes that were coming in at weird angles. We haven't used the shower yet as we're waiting for the sealant to dry completely, but I'm feeling good about the experience we had and am glad we hired Rodney.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Sunrise Kitchens Baths and Closets. It's important to note that the majority of this company's positive reviews are from previous ownership. Since the business was sold in September 2024, many of the employees referenced by name in those reviews are no longer with the company, which provides important context for prospective customers. My kitchen project was plagued by serious issues from start to finish and ultimately dragged on for 13 months, despite being promised a fully functioning kitchen completed within a few weeks. Despite being promised a "streamlined" and professionally managed project, that is not what I experienced. There was a clear lack of consistent project management throughout the renovation. Over the course of the project, I worked with at least five different individuals who were identified as managing my project, which is supported by written communication and documentation. For the majority of the project, no project manager came to my home to oversee work. Project management oversight did not occur until the final month, after DPOR became involved. Prior to that, subcontractors/employees were frequently sent to my home without clear direction and often asked me what they were there to do. Work was performed that was not included in my contract, and afterward I was demanded thousands of dollars for this non-contracted work. No clear or itemized breakdown was ever provided explaining what was done, why it was done, or why it was supposedly required. I never agreed to this work, never approved it through signed change orders, and never consented to the additional cost. Despite this, the company refused to move forward or complete the project unless this unapproved payment was made, effectively holding the project hostage over charges I never agreed to. After two mediations, the company ultimately agreed that I did not owe payment for one of the change orders because the HVAC work in question should never have been done. That work involved replacing ductwork that had already been replaced earlier that year by another company and was still under warranty. In addition, changes were made to cabinetry without my consent, again with no signed change orders. Additional HVAC work was completed without a permit and was not up to code. After personally contacting a city inspector, the company was required to redo the work and have it reinspected. Documentation -- including proof of purchase, warranties, and permits -- was repeatedly requested and never fully provided. Due to the seriousness of these issues, I filed a formal complaint with DPOR (Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation). Following their investigation, the company was found to be in violation of regulations. What made this experience especially frustrating was the lack of transparency, poor communication, and unwillingness to fix mistakes. A kitchen renovation is a major financial and emotional investment, and this company did not treat it with the care or professionalism it deserves. I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to look closely at the timing of the reviews, ask detailed questions, and ensure everything is clearly defined and signed in writing before proceeding.

I would not recommend Sunrise Kitchen & Bath. The entire process was frustrating and disappointing…read more We went with them for a streamlined process, and it was honestly a disaster. Our project manager and designer, Shannon, was disorganized, made false assurances, and only completed necessary tasks after being asked repeatedly. We purchased a home and found out shortly after moving in that all three bathrooms needed a complete remodel. After receiving multiple bids, I decided to go with Sunrise because they stated they could remodel all three bathrooms at the same time in two weeks. Since the remodel required us to leave the home, the promise of two weeks was a huge selling point. She also stated everything would be designed and ordered before the demolition started so that the project would move quickly and smoothly. Even in the beginning, she would not deliver on her promises from emailed quotes, mock-ups, and pictures. She always had a reason she didn't send what she promised. We went in on a Friday and picked out the counter tops, counters, flooring, and tiles. The next day she sends me a text stating the team wants to start demo on Tuesday. I question the fact that nothing has been ordered but she guarantees me everything will run smoothly and ordering will not have any delays. They came in and started demo but didn't have the items they needed to complete the job. I would ask the contractors for daily updates on the process and they would say, "oh tomorrow we plan to install the shower or tub?" And I would say, "How? They haven't been ordered?" We had to contact Shannon on multiple occasions and remind her that we hadn't ordered items, and the contractors were needing them. Ordering was a complete disaster. Shannon would send us pictures from Amazon and tell us to choose. Then she would inform us that that item wasn't in stock or delayed and we needed to pick something else. The cabinet she ordered for one bathroom wasn't the correct size which wasn't realized until it was assembled and unable to fit the space. The shower unit for one bathroom was ordered four times because it arrived multiple times broken or cracked. She tried to tell me Amazon had high quality items when I complained about her just picking what Amazon had available. The shower door was the wrong size and didn't fit another bathroom. So many problems continuously. She stated she would help with the accessories and paint. NOPE. She kept saying she would help pick out the paint and do mockups, but the contractor informed me on a Friday night he needed the paint Monday morning or they had nothing to do so I just picked it out myself. We saw Shannon twice during the first two weeks and that was when I didn't like a design aspect and stopped the project and the second time was when she needed a payment. After 2 1/2 weeks, the contractors came here and there for miscellaneous tasks and then couldn't do anything else so at 4 weeks the project just stopped. NOT ONE BATHROOM COMPLETE. We were missing shower doors in two bathrooms, lighting in two bathrooms, and countertops in all three. We had to take baths in the only useable tub by flashlight for weeks. Around week seven we got a shower door so we could finally take showers. At the end of week eight, after Shannon told me multiple times the counter tops were still delayed, I finally started calling around to countertop companies to locate the company she used. I found them and when I told them that we had been waiting on counter tops for six weeks, they said they were waiting on Shannon to schedule them to come out and remeasure since the first measurements were incorrect due to the wrong counter measurements. The countertops were not delayed, they weren't even cut because they didn't have measurements. I scheduled for them to come back out and measure the next day. A few hours later, Shannon contacts me letting me know that the countertop company needs to come remeasure acting as if I wasn't the one that contacted them. I told her how disappointed I was in the company and how everything had been handled horribly. She again had excuses and never took fault for anything. We finally received countertops about week ten, but our master shower was still without a door. Since she said Amazon couldn't deliver the door we wanted, she would do us a "favor" and have a custom door made. At week 12, we finally received our master shower door. She finally comes by, and we go through all the small things that need corrected and create a final punch list mainly of painting and caulking fixes. We also tell her our garage is full of all the demo trash (old counters/toilets/large boxes) since the dumpster was taken weeks before the project was completed. She tells me I must pay the final payment and as I tell her, I don't want to because they aren't going to complete the job. I openly told her how unreliable they have been and how this entire experience has been ho

We stopped in late last Saturday morning on the recommendation of our cabinet maker. I was very disappointed that, although the sign on the door clearly states that anyone entering must be wearing a mask, the red-headed woman that initially helped us didn't wear one at all, and the second woman who assisted us with a product quote kept hers under her nose the whole time. The second woman escorted us around the showroom to help us find a match for something we already liked. She priced out a Hanstone countertop with 2 separate measurements (with and without a separate breakfast bar) and the estimates were $2600 more than one we got from ProSource for the exact same material and the quote for turnaround time was 2 weeks longer. While we appreciated the very quick estimate (we did have to wait a few days for ProSource), it was really not worth the trip out to Portsmouth for us. They also don't carry anything other than stainless sinks, which was unfortunate. Given their inability to adhere to their own protocols and their exorbitant pricing, we will not be patronizing Superior Marble & Stone.
