What a nice little pub! It was on the main road so not hard to get to or find. The service was friendly and food tasted really good. The prices were good too considering prices everywhere else seems to have gone up so much; it was really nice to be able to select main dishes for under $20. This place has a few "regulars" that seemed friendly and there was no roudiness or uncomfortable behaviour. After reading reviews on several sites, we decided to break the ice and check this place out on early Saturday evening. It was totally dead with just a couple people inside. We were greeted immediately as we sat down and asked some questions about the food. After contemplating, we ordered a bacon mushroom burger and clubhouse sandwich. Soon afterwards a friendly gentleman came from behind the bar to bring condiments tray and chat a bit. Other patrons started to come in, hangout and order drinks. The food came within about 20 minutes and the homemade burger was fresh and juicy that it dripped so much I needed more napkins. The fries were crispy but the gravy was mediocre powdered type. The clubhouse lacked in the meat department as my partner was hungry enough after to finish off my burger. The lady did not pay attention to refilling drinks, we kept having to ask but the gentleman followed up to check how the food was as apparently they hired a new cook. At the end we received a bill for almost $50 which seemed quite steep for this place. My advice to management is to have better food specials and lower the food cost a couple dollars which might attract more business. Also the lady should pay attention to the drinks and not take away food unless someone is finished with it. Investing in better signage to attract new business as we had no idea there was also a liquor store right beside. read more

I was weary about visiting in the midst of an epidemic as it's known as being a dive bar, but was assured ahead of time that they were taking all safety measures. I attended with a small group for karaoke and was impressed by all the measures put in place by the karaoke host, who did an exceptional job in making sure it was a safe experience. As for the actual bar, I was shocked by how close the tables on the bottom floor were packed together. I couldn't get up to go to the bathroom without being way way too close to the next table. Also the table was dirty and sticky, so we had to ask staff to wipe it down. Our glasses had lipstick stains, but when we complained they only wiped it off with a paper towel instead of actually cleaning them or replacing the glass. As for the small two-stall bathroom, there were far too many women in there at one time. In such a small space it should be 1 or 2 max. The worst part was that there were 10 people dancing and none of the staff stopped it. Instead they all stood and watched. Considering that we are in the midst of a pandemic, this is incredibly reckless and unsafe. I've never complained about a restaurant or bar experience in my life but thought this experience warranted a private message to the owner so that they could know how unsafe their patrons felt and rectify it. Rather than respond to my personal message, they printed out the message and told staff the only reason I'm complaining is because I'm racist. Apparently someone else from that night called the Health Board and they assumed it was me. I've been told from other patrons that I'm now banned for life from the bar, which is really no big loss for me. Definitely avoid this bar if you're concerned about your health and safety as management does not care one bit. read more

Yuk. Old, very limited beer selection, Burger was just okay. After the burger my friend ordered a white wine. The waitress came with a tray with a jigger of red wine and a wine glass that has someones lipsticknon it. So gross. So much for clean. Yuk! We will never go back. I've been coming to the Grove pub for a long time now, about a year and a half and the minute I walked in here I felt at home. Janna makes this place so homey and every weekend I come here I have such amazing time. She's made me feel so at home and to top it off the food is delicious. Whenever I need a good bite, I come right over to visit my new family friends. I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is amazing and I've never felt more in place. I almost didn't try this spot, because of a few poor reviews....but it was close to my hotel so I stopped in for dinner. I was glad i did. First of all..great beer selection. The employees were all friendly and my waitress suggested a locally brewed beer which was perfect. I had the fish and chips and ordered a salad as well. The fish was done perfectly, golden brown on the outside and moist inside. Plenty to eat and all very tasty. You really should try this little pub....I know I will be back. read more

What can I say about a pub that doesnt have real cheese. After inquiring why the "cheese" tasted funny on our nachos one evening, we were informed that they dont have real cheese! Seriously! The beer is cold, the ambiance is very much a watering hole where everyone knows each other, the servers are friendly & personable, the food is great pub grub (recommend the steak Neptune ).... just temper your expectations as this is not the trendiest hotspot on the waterfront; it's exactly as advertised, a neighbourhood pub. My husband and I were a little reluctant to go there because we would only see three or four cars in the parking lot on weekends. We decided to give it a try, the first couple times we went there it was not to bad. We decided to go there last night for some wings, it was the busiest I'd seen it. We ordered drinks and wings. The wings were the most disgusting wings I'd ever had. They were over cooked no flavour at all and a couple of mine still had feathers on them.the waitress did take one order off the bill, which was nice of her. I thought I would hit the pub for a game of pool and some lunch etc. For starters, the server / bartender did not know what beer specials they had and directed me to a menu that was on a table. I ordered a beer and set up the pool table. They (new management I think I read somewhere) decided to move the pool table to a different area- now you can only play on one end or one side. The other end you are stepping over furniture. The other side you hit the wall with your stick unless you have it pointed to the ceiling. At any rate I was asked if I wanted more to drink but not how my meal was. There were only a couple customers yet it did take a bit long to get my burger. If I was asked how it was, I might have mentioned the lack of real tasting burger, dry bacon, suspect cheese, and partially bad lettuce (pic included). The slim fries were average, which is fine as if they were any better I might want to complain that there were not very many of them. I consider myself a pretty easy going diner, but there was just too much to not really like here. Next time, it's 5 minutes down the road for better fare. read more

I used to be a regular here for a lot of years and will never come back here again because I have never been so insulted in my life. I was refused service a few times because the staff had received complaints about me smelling bad. Well talk about calling the kettle black. The washrooms are filthy and disgusting, and the locks don't work. The whole place looks like a flophouse and the staff is very rude. I don't know how this place stay's in business. The board of health should come by and inspect the place and close this place down. read more

Went to this pub last night after work to play a game of pool and have some nachos. My friend and I walked up to the pool table and didn't finish setting up a game before we were approached by a waitress. She asked us for our ID and then 30 seconds later told us she was kicking us out because two out of my 3 pieces of identification (which I have used countless times and multiple establishments) were unacceptable because they were not government issued. She then suggested that maybe I should carry around my SIN card with me. Seriously, this waitress could not have been more of a bitch about this whole situation and if you are thinking about visiting the Walnut Grove Pub, then do yourself a favour: Take your money and spend it somewhere else because this place is a dump, the way it is run is a joke and the staff are unfriendly and overall just make going to this pub a horrible experience. read more

Karaoke was great. Service was outstanding. Got into a fight with the bartender/manager. Very rude and has no respect. If there is a problem u should be discreet! Don t scream it out loud.
