I am 81-year-old man and am confined to a wheelchair for mobility…read more I was scheduled for my first appointment here at The Woodburn Vision Source. We did not know where this office was located, and so we called for directions as we driving into town. The problem was the directions they gave us were for coming from the opposite direction that we were coming from. It took a few minutes to figure out the error and then loop around after we discovered that the directions were bad. We arrived a few minutes late and was told that the appointment had to be rescheduled to another time. I then asked the receptionist to ask the Dr. if I can still be seen today. The receptionist left to check with the Dr. She came back in a while saying the Dr. said we were too late. So, I was rescheduled to a couple of more weeks out. I'm having a concern that as a new patient, I may be subjecting myself to brash treatment, disrespect and unaccommodating or considering my circumstances. What will they treat me like in any follow up appointments? Customer Service is very important to me. When I was still working not that long ago; selling my art at festivals I had great pride in giving my customers the utmost respect, working together with and for them to achieve the most satisfaction for both them and me.

She informed me that because of our age- 59, 62, we would need to pay for specialist copay because most people our age have cataracts or glaucoma. Even though I stated we only wanted vision exams for glasses, she still insisted that they would need 45.00 each for vision exams due to our age. Both were rude and condescending. My husband and I repeatedly stated we made appointments for just the vision exams. We feel we were discriminated against and they tried to charge us extra because of our age. We left and made an eye exam appointment with another clinic.

Each member, from start to finish did a great job in making her feel comfortable, secure and walking her through each process of testing. This office is very kid friendly and I'd highly recommend checking them out for any eye care needs. We finished off with trying on some glasses, which they had plenty of options to choose from. They do accept many types of insurance, along with care credit to keep things affordable.

Let's start with the reception staff: friendly, extremely helpful, and also doubles as a true eyewear fashionista, and most importantly, one that can be relied on for an honest opinion. Dr. Turin is very thorough and enthusiastic, and it's obvious he loves his work. He explains everything in detail and in a way that makes sense. I was surprised at everything I learned; what was good, what was not so good and why (with examples of what it should look like, and what can eventually happen), and what I could do to positively impact my eye health. I highly recommend him and will definitely go there again.

The ophthalmologist was fantastic, the billing/insurance/front office is either 1) misinformed or 2) not being forthcoming with how much they will charge. I was reassured over and over that although my insurance told me I would not be covered, by someone named Janelle that 'I promise you, it's ok and we'll take care of billing it correctly so it will be covered. If the staff doesn't do it correctly, ask for me". Well, it wasn't AND there are apparently two Janelle's in the office... so no one wanted to take responsibility for the statement made. Do yourself a favor and go into Gresham or the other Sandy eye clinic. I will tell everyone I know that they need to avoid this clinic - not because of the care, but because of their billing/sheistyness/and dishonest staff. I just paid 140.00 more for their services when I was told many times there would not be extra charges because of the way they would bill my insurance. Just don't do it. P.S. I knew I needed to check my vision, but I…read morewas pretty obviously uncomfortable and the workers could see that and really helped me calm down. First, we did an initial eye exam. Then, we took did a more extensive test to really hone in on my prescription. This was honestly shocking to see the difference I could have with glasses vs no glasses. Once we had the prescription, I tried on about half of the samples and felt terrible but the staff was very kind and said this happens often. Once I picked out my favorite, I was told they would be ready in about a week. I got a call 3 days later that they had arrived and I love them!! They're also taking a lot of great COVID precautions and wiped down each pair of sample glasses I touched. Overall a really great experience.

Dr. Owen was able to set my 5 yr old son up with some super nice Oakleys, that fit perfectly!!! Update: This place keeps getting better. I have been back with my entire family and Dr. Owen just keeps getting better and better. He has all this super advanced equipment(which i know nothing about), but he basically gives you a 3-d image of the inside of your eye, completely painless! I was amazed...and super happy he was able to put my mind at ease:)
