I bought a pair of cute, discontinued $20 Diff frames at Nordstrom Rack, and was horrified by the prices at my optometrist (and other online services I checked) to add prescription, progressive lenses. I thought I'd try Walmart, and this was the closest location to me with a vision center. I didn't need to make an appointment, and the optician saw me right away and took my order. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and offered expedited service at no charge. I ended up paying about $300 for the progressive lenses, which is less than half of what I was hearing elsewhere! They might have been even less than that if I'd used my vision insurance, but I didn't have my card on me and needed the glasses for an upcoming trip. My new frames were ready in less than a week, and I got a text message to let me know they could be picked up. Super easy, painless experience that didn't hurt my bank account. After some recent high power eye surgery, my vision has changed, and I wanted to make sure that my eyes were recovering well and that my eye pressure wasn't too great (glaucoma). I called the Walmart Vision Center and in short order had an appointment for an eye exam. The doctor, Kantha Chhuon was ever so knowledgeable, thorough and patient -- qualities needed to get the best job. Patience is especially important when the doctor refracts you (turns all the knobs on the phoropter -- that funny device to measure the prescription). My experience has been that doctors that rush this deliver a sub-optimal prescription. She communicates flawlessly, so that when all was done, I was perfectly satisfied. read more

Brought in my elderly friend as he lost a pair of glasses , so we came in to look at options and ended up getting a reexamination as it had been about 9 months since last check up. I walked out while filling out the doctor's intake form because of how unprofessional and condescending my experience was. Optician Wendy, under Kantha Chhuon, O.D., spent more time on her phone and talking about her personal life than helping me. When I asked for help with my insurance, she refused to itemize charges and acted like my questions were an inconvenience. My HIPAA information was left unattended, and when I provided my prescription, she demanded the license number of the Kaiser optician--something patients don't normally have. She never offered me a re-exam until I insisted, which made me feel judged instead of cared for. It became an accessibility issue for care. As someone with a disabilities , the runaround and lack of transparency added unnecessary stress that could have worsened my condition. I left feeling unsafe, disrespected, and completely unsupported. I will not be returning, and I do not recommend trusting this location with your care. read more

I went there for the first time on Halloween day after getting my prescription because my optometrist didn't have any of the styles that I was interested in. Walmart had all of the best styles that I was shopping for, and Laura and Riley were both really helpful and knowledgeable in helping me pick out a couple of pairs of Ray Bans. Five days later, both pairs were ready for me to pick up, which surprised me because my prescription is unique and usually takes a couple of weeks. Fast, friendly, and professional service is hard to find, but they did a really great job here. i'll definitely be going back soon to see what comes in for the new 2024 lineup. read more

Nina helped me adjust my glasses today! She was super patient which helped her diagnose the problem with my original glasses... the frames were too long (45 vs 40mm), hence the tendency to slip off the face. The difference was glasses that would be thrown away vs glasses I can use daily. read more

What a horror of an experience....and humiliating. My glasses were tore up. My dog literally ate them and they were beyond unusable. Time is scarce and I didn't have an opportunity to take them in Immediately. I let the baby play with these glasses and of course t he baby ripped them in half. Finally, I go to Walmart and start my replacement plan which I paid for. The glasses were ready but I had to wait a few before ax extremely rude lady started to "help". Before she could help she wanted me to know that I was now in their fraud system and it's in my record because they believe I split the glasses on purpose. I asked what about all the other damage the dog did ? Didn't matter she said So she's calling me a fraud, telling me I'm in her system, very LOUDLY and in front of staff and customers. I was humiliated and horrified. I couldn't say anything back because I was in shock. I will never go back. Calling me a fraud? You have no idea who I am and I can never return. THIS COMMENT IS DIRCTED NOT SO MUCH AT THE STORE, BUT THE NIMRODS WHO WORK, IN THE VISON CENTER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I ordered frames and lenses at the Walmart on 28 February 2019 at 5:12:13 PM and paid $338.00 for them. I called them (Vision Center 800-637-3597) after being on hold for 10 minutes, the operator gathered information an transferred me to a store in Seattle, Washington. I called the 800 number back and the operator had no clue as what was going on with my order and gave a ROM (Random Order of Magnitude) of the end of this week, when I pressed her for a better date she advised that's not her job. If this is customer service, IT SUCKS. read more

Located in the front of Walmart store, close by the customer service department. I came by here one day to get an eye exam and some new contacts. I called on the phone to make an appointment and was able to be seen the same day (actually 1.5 hours after I made the call). The person on the phone was friendly and helpful in trying to find a time for me to come in the same day. When I arrived, I filled out a few pages of required paperwork and then waited for my turn to get an eye exam. When it was my turn, a young lady came out (looked to be in her 20's) and started my eye exam. I was surprised to find out that she was the optometrist since she was so young. Unfortunately I do not remember her name but she was nice. She explained everything she was doing throughout the entire process. And because I was here to get contact lenses, I had a longer eye exam (an eye exam for glasses is slightly different for contacts). She was really patience with me as I was trying to decide which power of the lens I looked through would be better for me. I had to constantly ask her to switch back and forth before deciding (as I get older, my memory isn't near as sharp as it should be sadly). Then in the end, I went back to the front and met with one of the sales people. This woman, unfortunately I also did not get her name, was nice and helped me order my contacts. She told me that once they are delivered in the store, she will give me a call to pick up. Less than 1 week later, I received a call from that same sales person who helped place the order for my contacts to come in. I came in shortly after to pick them up and left (I had already paid for them prior). Service was friendly from the very beginning when I made the appointment and throughout. And then all the way to the end when I came back to pick up my boxes of contacts. I would definitely not hesitate to come back here again because of the customer service that I had received. read more

My wife and I both feel Nina is one of the most welcoming, kind, caring, and knowledgeable staff we have ever met. We hope Walmart can give her a raise or promotion to keep her. Fantastic place both with staff and bang for the buck. I didn't originally plan on coming here but after another place did not deliver on their service ( see my other review ) I tried them out. The staff was freindly, receptive, and attentive to my needs. The price for an eye exam was great, which includes dilation - at no additional cost. The Optometrist took her time, described every aspect of the exam and the results without rushing. At the conclusion she provided me with trial contacts and asked me to come back with some feedback on which felt best. All this was included with the eye exam cost. Please do yourself a favor and reconsider. My sunglasses were wrong right off the bat but agreed to try them out. Same after 2 weeks. We opted to set in a smaller frame, though I have no idea whether this will actually ameliorate the issue. It has to date been 2 months and will be a minimum of another month before I get them back. It's not worth the $25 I saved over my regular ophthalmologist. read more

I was impressed by this Vision Center for a couple of reasons: 1. The optometrist was trained at the UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute (unfortunately, that particular optometrist is no longer there). He was outstanding in several ways. 2. After my refraction, he told me that the prescription I had been using for my contact lenses for many years was wrong, and he gave me the correct lenses. And, amazingly, he was right! (Needless to say, I am NOT going back to my long-time optometrist, who kept giving me the wrong prescription). 3. This place was open and the optometrist was seeing patients ON THE 4TH OF JULY! No other optometrist I know would do that. 4. Because of the order I placed for my contact lenses (a year's worth), I was able to get a pair of $99 frames for free when I ordered my glasses. I got a very nice frame that was attractive & sturdy. My orders came in promptly. The prices were very good. I was VERY happy! read more

I happened to be in this Walmart with my boyfriend looking at mattresses pads and such..and realized there was an vision center within the store. What luck! I had been needing an eye exam for a very long time and as I don't have any insurance (besides Medi-Cal and couldn't get an appointment at my local clinic for weeks and weeks and my usual place, Costco, was charging too much for the full exam), I decided to get an eye exam here instead. I was not disappointed. The woman I spoke to in the glasses section, Rena, promptly understood my dilemma (that I needed an eye exam asap and new contacts, the ones I was wearing were old and dry). She showed me to the waiting room, I filled out all the necessary paperwork, and after a short wait, got the glaucoma test, periphery test, retina imaging. Then my optometrist (I wish I could remember her name & I can't read her signature on my Rx print out) was incredibly qualified, polite and efficient. She really knew what she was doing and dealt with my constant questions (I'm paranoid about my eyes, aren't we all). I had my boyfriend sit in on my exam in case I forgot some information and he was really impressed with her patience and ease. She really took the proper time to really find my best prescription. I'm used to being hustled out of the room to make room for another patient. Not so in this case, thankfully. I have a very high Rx considering my age and apparently my Rx had increased far more than I imagined. I got my eyes dilated (something I hadn't done since I was very young) so she could check to see if there was some underlying issue with my eyes causing the severe myopia. Thankfully there wasn't. I decided to buy my contacts elsewhere (where I could get them faster and closer to home) and she completely understood. She even wrote out my Rx for glasses as well as contacts & was available for my questions about optometry and my severe myopia. I can see again! I wasn't going crazy, my vision -was- blurry. Thank you so much, Vision Center! 5 stars. I will drive all the way back to Duarte just to see these two amazing women at the Walmart Vision Center. read more

I have VSP insurance and even if I didn't I would still have gone to this vision center. Not only are the prices for exam, lens, frames are lower than anywhere else, but the customer service I received from the lady optometrist and technician was fantastic. The optometrist I had was this young looking lady with long dark hair, can't remember her name! She was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly explained my vision. Probably the best optometrist I've had in a long time. The technician who helped me when I walked in and who discussed the frames and lenses was named Kevin (dark hair, glasses). He was very helpful and kind. I think he's the awesome guy the other yelp reviewer is talking about. These 2 people are the main reasons why I would come back. Walmart also has a $20 per year warranty which covers any damage to your lenses or frames. If they can't fix it, they give you a new set at no additional cost. read more

This is for the guy with curly hair and some piercings who works in the shoe department. For some reason yelp would only bring up pharmacy and eye vision . Anyways this guy just helped me find some shoe strings that were misplaced. He was very attentive and took time to find them. A rare employee indeed. Very polite and he made sure I was satisfied. No lines, no hassles. Anna at the front desk is pleasant and can schedule your appointment for whenever you want.
