First time and was impressed with the Red Mill Walmart. It's a long haul from where I live, but I was in the area dining at Blue Seafood & Spirits. Plenty of parking and the lot was clean. When entering they were very low on shopping carts. Walmart security was at the entrance well as VB City PD. I only needed to grab a few items, but decided to browse and do price comparisons since I'm not a regular at Walmart. The store was pretty busy for Saturday afternoon. The store was clean and shelves overall stocked well. Something that I now focus on is organic produce. In my opinion it was very strong with excellent prices. I witnessed staff stocking in many of the aisles. Every time I browse I compare prices and I must say hands down Walmart undercuts everyone's price point. It may be 10 cents, it may be a dollar. I utilized self checkout and had no issue. I do recommend you register for their rewards program. Staff was at the checkout area and engaged me to say have a good day. I would say this is the best Walmart Super Center I've shopped in Virgin nis Beach and it's the furthest too! Solid 4 stars. read more

Walmart is a community place, everybody shops here. The old gray haired lady door greeter was so venomous I feel it needs to be addressed by management. We adopted a Golden Retriever puppy this morning from a reputable local service dog trainer and breeder. Ace is 4 months into legitimate service dog training which is a very demanding training routine. We stopped at the store to pick up some baby gates and the greeter was extremely irritated to the point of being unprofessional and irrationally agitated. There was no warmth in the interaction, it felt so strange that it instantly became an unpleasant experience. I explained that the puppy is in training as a service animal, but she was so angry at there being an animal in front of her that I don't think she wanted to understand. It was embarrassing and everyone around went from adoring a cute puppy into awkwardly avoiding this angry old woman who is barking orders like someone just committed a heinous crime in front of her face. Please train her to control her anger. If a shopper is breaking a store policy, I expect the process should be to inform them and not to lecture them. There's no room in customer service for that kind of aggression. I have no idea why this situation would make somebody become spitting mad, but I have no interest in being mistreated by some random employee on a power trip when a simple respectful conversation would have been appropriate. Unfortunately, it's difficult to avoid shopping at Walmart entirely. Being mistreated definitely doesn't make me want to come back. I can say there is clearly a problem with this one door greeter that should be examined by management. If she's having such a bad day that she can't even speak respectfully, the least she could do is keep that venom to herself and not share it with random shoppers. read more

Never do a pick up order at this location. It will never be ready on time and if it is you will wait an hour for them to bring it out. They hire the most I competent people. They will say an item is unavailable, you will walk in and see the item they claimed was out of stock. Always a waste of time and always dissatisfied. read more

This store is trash. The staff isn't knowledgeable at all, they're extremely rude, and don't offer any actual service. Many items on display aren't even in stock. The managers take about an hour to assist with problem, I wouldn't recommend this Walmart. It used to be great, but it went downhill. read more

Most important check your receipt before leaving the store. Sometimes they do make mistakes ringing your purchases. I have saved alot of money over the years by checking my receipt. One time they charged me for 22 lemons instead of 2 lemons. That is a big difference in price. It is an OK Walmart. They will have everything I need one time. Then the next 3 times they will NOT and then I will have to go to other stores to finish up my grocery shopping. It seems like they are more interested in you ordering your groceries and picking them up instead of in person shopping. In the summer it is jammed packed with tourist so we will go very early to beat the rush of shoppers. But beware. If you go early in the morning there is only ONE cashier. I have gone plenty of time where they really need to open another register because there is a REALLY LONG line. They have never opened another register in all the years I have been shopping there. We have shopped at this location since it has originally opened. The last 3 years it has gotten worse. They have changed the layout of the store and after 2 years I still struggle to find stuff. I am not the only person because I have had lots of shoppers ask me if I knew where something was. And the last thing is that I have noticed that they have less variety. For example. There use to be a whole row of canned veggies. Now it is a 1/4 row of canned veggies. And this is why they are out of stuff 3 out of 4 times and why I have to go to another store down the street to finish up my grocery shopping. The greeters are good. Returns are good. Cashiers are not great. Employees working the rest have been a bit rude. Especially the personal shoppers. They will run you right over. I see them now and just steer clear of them. The deli counter is not great. Depends on who is working. I have stood there being the ONLY person and Never got helped. Finally after 10 minutes my husband nudged me and I said excuse me may I get some items sliced. Will it ever get better?? Maybe. I am always hopeful. One thing that is good is that customer service at the returns is helpful. That has been a good thing all these years. read more

This is my second negative review in six months. I have been shopping at this store for close to 20 years and have never had issues until now. One door greeter in particular - middle aged woman with gray hair seems to be harassing paying patrons. Now I know Walmart door greeters are paid to check receipts (they have no right to do this but I support jobs for the elderly). I was shopping with my son and leaving with cupcakes and a few items bagged (cupcakes were not) . She abrasively asked for my receipt in a snarling manner (when I had my hands full) as if I am stealing them. Who risks their job and life on some cupcakes??! Seriously. It feels like harassment with this particular greeter and she should not be working with the community if she treats paying customers with any kind of hostility. I have no legal or moral obligation to stop and will not be treated in this manner. This walmart is tanking and recommend other stores near by instead. read more

I must admit - I avoid Walmart like the plague Bc of lines and crowds and in general my distaste for it. I used to shop here for groceries exclusively because of the low low prices and understand the appeal, but I try to avoid it. In any event, I've searched all of Hampton roads it feels like for these Harvest Pea Snaps I love and WM has them in various flavors. So while I was here hunting them down I decided to browse the Christmas seasonal decor and found some great deals on trees. It's a well kept and clean store and staff were friendly and greeted me warmly. It's been years since I've been in a Walmart but it was not unpleasant. This particular location is in Red Mill so it's surrounded by tons of other great shopping and food. You can easily make a day out of a trip here. read more

Absolutely DYSTOPIAN experience, came in at ~ 8:25pm for some fabric, pressed the assistance button over 50 times waiting for 25+ minutes just to get 6" of fabric cut. We could hear the customer assistance calls on all employees walkies. What do they do? Several, about 3-5 wall by on personal phone calls, followed by another 5-10+. No one acknowledged us even after saying excuse me. So we do the reasonable thing and cut it ourselves. We go to self checkout and call for assistance so we can pay for it, took a picture of the SKU and measurement, when really with how we were treated we should of just taken it and not paid. Self checkout lady has the gaul to say we cant cut it ourselves, then calls a team leas who proceeds to take another 15 minutes somewhere idk vaping in the back cause they just ended up scanning our barcode WE took a picture of. So all and all 45+ minutes wasted and just piss poor people, customer service is one thing but your people dont even acknowledge other humans is pretty sad. Im sure this will fall on deaf ears but had to vent somehow because when i did to your employees they pretty much were just drooling on themselves. This is your typical Walmart Super center. They have a wide range of items available from prescriptions and housewares to a grocery side of the store. The layout is similar to other locations. I've never had any major issues with this store. Plus, I love the new Savings Catcher that Walmart does in order to help give you the lowest prices possible. Most of the year, you can easily get in and out of here. However, it can be more of a challenge in summer time since many tourists will also frequent this Walmart since it's the closest one to Sandbridge and the Oceanfront. They do tend to carry more of the tourist type items during that time of year at this particular Walmart. I don't see so much of that at the other Walmarts here. Although the store is large, you can generally find what you're looking for and definitely a good place to get a good value on that wide variety of items. read more

Big Bad Walmart refuses to make me, the customer, whole in regard to a $6.00 bag of putrid chicken leg quarters. We did our usual eventless weekly shopping for household goods on Friday. Walmart Store #3216 on Nimmo Parkway, Red Mill. Its conveniently located for us, barley over one half mile from our home. We brought the groceries home and began unbagging to put away. There are only the two of us here now so when we buy larger packaged meats, halve the contents, separate the pieces then re-bag and freeze for use as needed. One such package was the large $6.00 bag of chicken leg quarters. I cut open the bag and was immediately repulsed by the smell of meat gone bad. It was awful! I immediately closed the bag and placed it in a double wrapped Walmart grocery bag for return and replacement (I was a little hesitant about bringing the soured bag of chicken into the store thinking instead I would just clip off its price tag and bring it in instead but went ahead with bringing the rotten food in for effect). I was expecting either a money refund of the $6.00 or a Walmart $6.00 money card credit for the price of the chicken that I paid for amongst the nearly $200 total bill. What I got was a denial from the store manager claiming Walmart policy is no refund on meats and produce items without full proof of purchase in the form of a receipt or the original card purchase. I had neither. I left my home in a huff with this rotting bag of chicken in hand but no printed receipt and in fact, no wallet. This was communicated to the manage while standing in front of her, bag now open as the putrid smell drifts up into both our clean air space. "What?" I said. She mechanically repeated the so-called policy to me again. "It's 100 degrees out. I'm not going back home for the receipt. Can you please just do the card refund?" She began again with the "Walmart policy..." so I turned away, located the nearest trash can, stuffed the horrific smelling bag of chicken quarters, all $6.00 worth of them, into the trash can and left for home. read more

Waited half an hour tonight to exchange two old bottles of propane for new ones. Questioning the employees, including the Acting Manager (?)(Team Leader), I received the standard response "we are looking for the keys". No apology. Nothing to indicate that they were sorry about making me wait 30 minutes. Was finally handed the two new bottles with no comment whatsoever. Unbelievable! The only bright spot in the establishment tonight was one of the greeters. Exceptional gentleman who noticed me angrily pacing and asked what the matter was. We talked and he commiserated with me. I told him they should just cut the padlock and give me my bottles. It would have set them back a few bucks but it would have been good customer service. His response: "be careful now. Pace yourself. You're going down the road of common sense and that's a dangerous path." My resulting laughter was the only bright spot. God bless you sir. read more

I'm not sure what to say about this place except it is the Island of misfit Walmart crap. No one ever seems to know what is going on anywhere. Most are on their personal phones walking around the store. Can't answer any questions about anything store related. Today I was told John had the key to the ammo counter and was not available now (Really, a single point of failure in a store that size run by that family). Tried again to find John, only to be told "John" did not exist. The guy who finally opened the counter was very put out to serve me. He must have had other important Walmart stuff other than taking care of customers. This is every single time with almost all, but not all, some are decent but the bad ones are really bad. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received in store and through a grocery delivery. They lack a sense of urgency and any common sense. They also do not answer the phone..I had to connect through the pharmacy as that was the only extension that would pick up. If I would have not drove to the store for my delivery myself I would have been charged for half of my order I did not receive as it was all put back and had to be reshopped. My neighborhood Walmart that I visit more than I'd like to admit. I despise Walmart due to the crowds although this one always seems less crowded than the others I've visited in Hampton Roads. Parking is not usually too bad unless you go late afternoon or early evening on payday. I like the fact that this one has a car service center although the wait can be a bit long when they're busy. Still, I like the fact that I can get my oil changed while I shop. Yes, as with other Walmart's it can be hard to find someone to help when needed but I can usually find someone. I order a lot online if it's not something I need immediately and pick up when convenient. Also I love black Friday shopping here because they always have the sale items in stock when I arrive and I refuse to wait out in the cold so I usually get there later in the morning. My biggest gripe is the wait at the deli counter. There's always a long line and wait. I also take advantage of the self check out to avoid the lines at the registers. Bottom line is if I have to visit Walmart I'll choose this location every time. read more

I was in Walmart today shopping for items for my husband's care package. I needed a micro sd card. I waited for the store assistant by the name of Angie to finish helping another customer. The other customer wanted an item that was locked up. The item I wanted was also locked up. Angie gave the customer his item and he left. I assume he was going to pay for it in another area of the store. When it was my turn I was told I had to pay for it in electronics. Feeling like Angie was singling me out because I'm black and the other customer was white I asked another store employee about what just took place and was told Angie wasn't supposed to do that. Feeling angered I went to the front and confronted a manager. The manager also told me Angie was wrong however this particular manager said she wasn't Angie's manager but she would inform Angie's manager. The manager I talked to said she'd be happy to get the sd card for me but at that point, I didn't want it anymore. I left Walmart and purchased it from another store. read more

I would never ever rate a Walmart, but this one in particular has me on here for this. I walked in and I was greeted by so many employees, more than I ever have in a walmart. It was late at night, and maybe they were bored but either way, that stands out much more than any other Walmart I've been to. It was so clean and tidy in there, it makes me wish I had the exact walmart near home. Just imagine the problem that they have .i live in the northern of va and we don't have people asking for receipts when you are getting a package of cookies for lunch. My complaint is I was getting a gallon of water and I lost my receipt but I show my transaction on my credit card to the ladies and they were acting crazy. I went to this location the night before our biggest snow storm of the year, so far. I think it's one of the best Walmart Super Stores in Virginia Beach and I've actually been to them all. They had better produce and more of selections in the grocery aisles. I found dried pastas that I'd been looking for and hadn't seen in a quite some time...extra thin. They had good prices on items ranging from dijon mustard to floor lamps. They even sell New York Style cheesecakes by the thick slice for only $2.08! It's a very clean Walmart with employees that'll stop what they're doing and show you the section you're looking for. The only other Walmart I've seen as nice as the location on Nimmo Parkway is the new location on First Colonial and Laskin Road. Both are well stocked. read more

Honestly extremely surprised someone part of the managerial staff can respond so rude and unprofessional to being asked a question. Then when asked for amplifying information about the question, they proceed to have a more aggressive response and claim something about a State Law that doesn't exist. Well my experience with this Walmart was exactly the opposite each time I've been there. Today I walked in to pick up some eight packs of pool salt I was greeted at the door the gentleman was obviously proud to work there and gave me a good hearty hello I proceeded to the location where the pool saw was picked up what I needed check out was easy the lady checking me out was pleasant her name was Nancy on my way out I was greeted by a couple of all the employees where the store was clean and well organized easy to get in and out of it is not always going to be like that during peak hours but if you catch them at the right time this Walmart was a very pleasant shopping experience they definitely are upping their game with a target nearby. read more

FYI DO NOT ORDER A CAKE/CUPCAKES ONLINE FROM THE NIMMO WALMART. I ordered 24 cupcakes for my daughters birthday several weeks ago for pickup today after 11am. I get there, she brings me out cupcakes that arent mine and I say, "those arent mine, that isnt my name" And she rudely says, "well this is the only cupcake order I have." I explain I ordered online and she says they dont accept online orders. I asked how was I able to make one then and she said "because they wont take it off the webiste!" And stormed off. She did apologize for being huffy, but not for the situation. She laughed and said a lady last night night left in tears. Like umm, that's not funny. Thankfully, she is 2 and it was cupcakes that I bought my own frozen toppers for. But the available cupcake colors didnt match, so I grabbed a blue cake and had her write on it. No apology for the situation or offer of a credit etc. So just beware. I then called the store, spoke to an associate and asked for a manager after being on hold for 20+ minutes, I hung up. I called corporate, explained the situation the lady did not apologize, she said nothing about my situation. She only said "I needed to e transferred to walmart.com" she transferred me. This gentleman did not get it. He just kept saying my cupcakes were showing as being ready today at 11am. I explained, no I could order 100 cakes and get a confirmation but the Walmart bakery at this location is ignoring on purpose the online cake orders. I asked for a supervisor, he said he didnt have one. I hung up, called local store again. Waited 5 minutes for an associate and the call itself hung up. What an abhorrent disaster. read more

This WalMart is really great! Super clean and the staff here is really nice ~ nicest employees you'd ever meet. If I need to place a large bulk order, they are quick to respond and will contact at soon as my order comes in. I've been shopping at this Walmart for 4 years now. It's very close to my home so it's really convenient. My overall experience with this Walmart is great! There are a few that you can tell aren't happy working there or maybe just not happy people in general but I just bypass them and find someone else. I go in late at night since I'm a night owl. I love it. Easy parking, very few people in the store, shelves are freshly stocked and the staff at that time are all pretty cool. When I come across someone with a bad attitude and they are my only choice, I will usually say "rough day huh?" That usually calms people down and makes them feel Like hey someone acknowledged them.
