I have not visited this store in years. Well that changed this past weekend. I went in about 12pm and the store was fairly empty inside. Meaning, not many were out shopping on this good first Sunday. As a result, I was able to take my precious time and walk up and down every aisle without being in the way of others or vice versa. The store is pretty much stocked as in, no bare shelves, which is a big plus! I did see a nice size suitcase I wanted... no price tag was on it. So that raised a brow... after finding an associate she took about 15 minutes to find out the price... $59.99 - nah I'll pass. For that price, a small carry on bag or pouch should have been included. Nevertheless, I did find a cute skully that will match my coat for the Fall season. Overall, this store is definitely worth checking out. There are items here for the entire family... even household items are present. Plenty of parking and the wait in line ... less than five minutes. Have fun and enjoy life :) read more

Three years later and back to this store with Mom. The merchandise appears better maintained and the racks are well stuffed with men's and women's clothing. The store has dedicated more space to non-clothing, with a couple of racks of discounted chocolate and snacks and the entire rear section is home furnishing items including lamps and furniture. There's even less "wait area" than before so it's still a three star visit for me. read more

I always enjoy a trip to TJ Maxx. I typically walk in with a plan in mind of one specific thing to purchase, and walk out with a lot of other fun, unplanned items in my shopping bag. This location is similar to the other stores in the chain. They frequently update their merchandise. It is all well displayed and the store is organized clearly enough to make your way to whatever you're looking for fairly quickly. The lines do get a bit long here at times. Usually there are plenty of cashiers working and the line moves quickly. Several times I have had a very long wait though, and at least once had to put my items back on shelves and leave the store to avoid being late to my next stop. General TJ Maxx tip- New inventory can be added any day of the week, but Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best days to find freshly marked-down items! I have found this to be true at this location. I recently found a vase from the Magnolia Collection marked down to just $3.99! read more

I am a big fan of TJ Maxx! I have been for quite a while. Shoes. Jewelery. Purses. these are the sections you must visit if you're a lady. Home goods if you LOVE buying kitchen gadgets and utensils like I do. They have plenty here for ladies and gents who love to cook. I'm less impressed with the clothing selection. And with holiday season approaching there are more toys and gifts on the floor and less space allotted to shoes and clothing. What else to get here. Sporting goods, yoga and fitness tools. read more

I love ANY TJ Maxx store; this one, no exception. Four and a half stars from me! It's located in the Fairfield shops off of Providence road, in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach. Easy to find, easy to park. They have the usual racks of clothing (for men, women, teens, kids, babies), shoes, aisles full of kitchenware, stationery goods, pictures/frames, decorative items (for every day and current holidays,) toys, jewelry, beauty products, purses, luggage, and so much more. You'll most definitely find something, big or small, for anyone and everyone, including yourself. I always feel that the stuff I buy, lean more towards the "want" and not "need" side. I need to get better with that. But YOLO! (Do people still say that?!!!) Also, if you see something you want, hold onto it - it probably won't be there later. As usual, the wrap-around where you stand in line before checking out will get you - all the pretty trinkets, mugs, and other items you probably do not need are housed here. Hehe. This TJ Maxx has beautfiul house decor! There had tons of vases with artificial plants, frames, pictures and paintings, plant pots of all colors and material, and tons of kitchenware. They had a lot of clothes for the whole family and purses too but to be honest I just kept alongside the home goods. I love the random items for sale alongside the checkout line. Great store. Lots of parking. Friendly employees. Decent prices! read more

I love TJ Maxx. This is the one I frequent most because it is the closest to my residence. I honestly can't walk in without making a purchase...that's bad, I know. Oftentimes I don't walk away with what I initially intended to purchase. My favorite department is, of course, home goods. As far as shoes, clothing, toys, etc., they have a fairly good assortment. The prices are right and most of their items are decent quality. The bathroom is so-so. Not super clean, not super dirty. The staff is always friendly at this location and very helpful. This is my go-to TJ Maxx shopping center. They not only have a good assortment of clothes but carry a wide variety of home goods and a good selection of bags, luggage, shoes as well. They also have items like toys for children and pets. On top of that, the customer service here is pretty good. The cashiers are approachable and friendly and so are the store associates manning the fitting rooms. Really good place to purchase gifts and such. I really love their mugs & candles. I was skeptical of this location upon arrival due to the outside appearance. It seemed as if it would be very small and run-down. I'm happy to say that I was actually impressed right away. The Pros: The store looked clean and well organized. I normally dread looking for clothes at stores like these because the different sizes tend to be scattered around the store but this location had everything in just the right place! I was able to find my size and quickly look through the selection. The displays were also set up well and did a great job of highlighting items for the current season. I'm looking forward to going back to buy some items for my new place. The Cons: This store would have received 5 stars from me but I felt the customer service was lacking. I was not greeted when entering the store which is not a huge deal but always a plus. There was only 1 cashier at the checkout so the line took a little longer than expected to get through. While I was checking out the cashier answered the phone and remained on it during my entire checkout. She then handed me my receipt and I said thank you. She didn't even look at me or acknowledge me whatsoever. I just simply left. Overall I would go back again and hope for a better checkout experience. read more

This location is always clean and generally it's very easy to find what you're looking for.......which is unusual for a discount store! However the selection is very very limited so I rarely visit this location these days. Hopefully the selection will get better, especially since this location is close to me that way that way I won't have to travel out of my way for the sake of variety. read more

I live nearby and TJ Maxx is my 'go-to' store. Another reviewer stated that the outside of the store looked 'run-down', but I honestly don't understand this comment. It's located in Fairfield Shopping Center, which is anything but run down. Location is easy to find and has ample parking. Store is always well-kept and well stocked and laid out conveniently so it's easy to find whatever you are shopping for. Good selection of men's and women's clothing, purses, shoes, housewares (which are terrific by the way), good variety and pricing. Sales personnel are always friendly and approachable. There are times when check-out gets backed up a bit, but this is nothing unusual for any similar store. I have shopped at other TJ Maxx stores, but find this one beats them all. read more
