But I've got to say it may be worth the additional distance after a few visits the past month. Let's go through some highlights as related to compare with other area Kroger's, first they are a Marketplace which means they carry more than groceries. They have a good home goods selection. Something I found unique was the amount of Carhartt merchandise. I mean a lot! They also have the third largest wine and beer selection in Virginia Beach, it's massive! They offera larger inventory in every department and seem to have items I cannot find on Republic, or Shore stores. I had an interaction with the manager regarding a specialty beer they have had in the past, but did not have. She was helpful and apologized. Overall the store is impressive. Although my update remains neutral, it been seven years. The grocery ishuge, it's organized and clean. I will likely work the Holland Kroger store in my rotation.

Plenty of parking and the parking lot is well lit at night. It is typically well kept and inside the store is clean. Bathrooms available and a Starbucks inside. The one thing that annoys me about this location is that at night they solely rely on self checkout and will only have one employee there and everything moves so slow. The line gets so backed up, it's painful so I always try to avoid coming here after 8pm. It is also hit or miss with the staff's helpfulness/friendliness. Definitely way better to shop here first thing in the morning but that's typical with most grocery stores.

The prices for the baked goods is really reasonable. When you walk in there's a good selection of produce at the entrance. I always get my veggies from here because some items are cheaper than other grocery stores. But there are a few higher priced things as well. You just gotta pay attention. They carry a lot of good items, they just might be generic. But I'm fine with that. The packaging sometimes looks so similar to the brand item that i have to do a double take.. Lol. The cheeses are a good deal or if your making a charcuterie board, this would be a good place to get stuff. It'll save you a few dollars. They also carry household items, clothing, toys, and etc. Its a small section but you can find some decent things in there. This isn't like regular stores where there are a bunch of employees walking around. Its very limited. You also have to bag your own items. I'm fine with bagging, but its a bit stressful to put your items on the belt then rush to try to bag everything before its the next persons turn. If your running in just for a few things, its not an issue bagging. But i had a basket full and i felt overwhelmed trying to hurry. They don't have a separate packaging station like Aldi's. That would be alot better because you can bag your items out of the way and take your time. That's my biggest complaint. They have German foods/brands as well and i love trying them. The desserts are usually pretty good. But be mindful and look at what you're buying. I brought Naan bread and got it home and there were huge pieces of mold growing inside. What a waste of $5. I don't live close to this location so i just sucked it up and took the loss. I don't use Lidl as my main store for grocery shopping. They just don't carry everything i need for my family in one place. I get produce, breads, frozen foods and things of that sort. But go to bigger stores for meats, canned goods, and stuff like that. Also don't forget your reusable bags. You can purchase plastic or paper bags for about $.12 per bag. Which isn't really bad. I like the idea of Lidl. I'm super glad they have a membership/rewards program now... Those prices add up quickly. But now they have coupons to help. I certainly recommend trying them out...

I've been looking for something similar without any luck so I definitely got excited when I saw it. This was my third and last stop without any luck. The previous two locations just said they didn't have it and went about their business. When I asked at this location, the manager said she would go on the computer to see if she could find it. When she returned she said she researched December, January and all ads available to her. Then she reached out to other managers for help. Unfortunately she couldn't find the item but I truly appreciated her efforts in trying to locate the item for me. This is not my usual Aldi's but may have to rethink that. Also, while I waited, I had time to walk the store. It was clean and very well stocked. Everything looked fresh and appetizing. I was thrilled to see the TJ's sample station offering their graham cracker squares topped with their whipped carrot cake cream cheese! Uh, yes, please! I mean, who doesn't like a sample? Needless to say, I picked up a container of the whipped carrot cake cream cheese. Then, after moving away to continue shopping, I decided to turn right back around to grab another container! The nice young lady serving the samples smiled at me and told me she completely understood why I grabbed another container. Lol TJ's is always so clean and the staff is always so friendly at this location. I like finding new items every visit, and I picked up lots of sweet treats for the holiday. Big thanks to all the IG followers who post their Trader Joe's finds and their reviews of their favorites. My cashier, Melissa commented on the additional (3) reusable regional shopping bags I had in my cart. Hilltop had the bag for North Carolina! Yay! It began as I entered the store carrying two small packages destined to be returned to Amazon. Since I had never been in this store, I am from out of state, I was lost. A hurried Whole Foods employee with hardly a glance much less a 'good morning' (FYI for any Whole Foods management... this occured at 945am on August 27 ... and yes I will be going to their website to share this report because I am really unhappy!) basically demanded that I go to a door situated behind the registers ... no niceties just a brutal command as she rushed by (In NJ such an attitude might deserve a certain hand response because I felt like crap in this overpriced store!). The young woman in Amazon Returns pretty much pulled the boxes away from me. I said 'good morning' and I may have heard a grunt but her face said "screw you." I pointed out that the one box needed tape and she glared saying "I HEARD YOU!" I then asked for a receipt and it was almost as if she was baring her fangs as she spitted "you'll get them in your email within two weeks!" I am not sure if her speechless coworker gave a damn or concurred or was in shock but I felt worthless knowing I would never return!! I then walked briefly around the store ... no southern hospitality and prices 10-20% higher than neighboring stores plus it seems like the janitorial team hasn't cleaned the floors lately!! It was my first visit to Lidl in the years since it has been open. Because it sits back off the…read moreroad across from Haygood Shopping Center, it doesn't have the visibility that catches my eye. It was built on a parcel that was a medical center for many years. My trip there wasn't planned today. After running errands & taking the CRV through the car wash whose entrance is reached via the Lidl turn in, I decided to make a quick stop to purchase fruit. The store has a very large and clean parking lot with numerous handicapped spots on the side of the store facing Independence Boulevard. Not knowing the bag options situation I retrieved the one reusable bag from this vehicle that I don't normally drive. Carts were available at the entrance to this large store. Having entered on the wrong side, I has to traverse the store to get to the fruit and vegetables. There wasn't a huge supply of each item. Some prices were better than other stores and some the same. I didn't see organic fruit but did see organic baby spinach that I love. Not having a lot of time to explore I headed to nuts in hopes of finding some new mixed options to add to spinach salad. I succeeded in finding several interesting snack mixtures that would work great as toppings. The back half of the store included some dry goods that aren't normally found in grocery stores. Many of the grocery aisles had to be skipped. So there will definitely be a return visit to explore the entire store. The store did seem devoid of employees. I saw one cashier and no one in the aisles that I explored or were visible to me. The line at the cashier wasn't moving at all. Opting for self checkout, which I never do, I found it fast and easy. The option was available to join Lidl's rewards program. I didn't see a purchase receipt or shopping bags, which validated my keeping the reusable bag in the vehicle I was driving. I'll return. It will be a good, quick spot to pick up necessities.

Just Wow! Besides Lidl having great prices, deals. and so many International products. I want to…read morefocus on the pastries! There is a reason why by 12pm most of it are sold out. I know Lidl is a European company and expected to see International Items, but I would never have thought the pastries are that good! And reminds me of little café that would sell these tasty items! They have an array of Baggett, bread loaf, , cheese breads, bagels, doughnuts and my favorite the "Croissant " It's Big, Fluffy, light , flakey and Buttery! I think I explained that well. Lol Seriously...I haven't had this good of a Pastry since the last time I've visited France. And the "Big Croissant " is the first one to run out. . They open at 9am, so I like to get there early, so it's fresh baked out of the oven. Just a hint..you can always heat them back up in an air fryer to get them hot and flaky. So get them while there hot or before they run out!
