21JUL26 ~ I went to visit family in Virginia Beach and went to this ALDI because I liked the ALDI near me, where I lived, outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. The prices were very good compared to most of the local grocery stories, the interior was clean, the shelves were stocked, fronted, well organized, and the employees with whom I interacted were nice & helpful. What I found interesting was that, because I know the prices of the ALDI items I normally buy back home, I found the ALDI prices in Virginia Beach were, for the better part, exactly what they were in Terrytown, Louisiana. ALDI Virginia Beach did have a couple of items that were slightly lower in cost than the same items in Terrytown, LA, but were identical for the most part. I've been to this Aldi's several times over the years since the opened over 7 years ago. However, a recent visit has me writing an overdue review. I really only shop Aldi for organic produce, eggs, milk and bread. They offer much more, but I find the pricing and quality on the areas I shop. The store has been clean and organized. A recent had me pick up organic grapes. Smooth friendly check out. I got home and the grapes were moldy. I've never returned to Aldi before and had no receipt. I returned the grapes the next day and the staff was nice about it and apologized. I replaced the grapes and found them to be good. Aldi's is not the top tier grocery I shop, but it has a place for my family. I would return. 3.5 rounding up with great service each time. read more

This Aldi is good - much like all the others. It's in the Hilltop area and as such is off a very crowded road. Ample parking and always clean inside. Staff are friendly and we were able to stop in quickly at around 7pm, park, run in and get the essentials (Imo's frozen pizza) and be on our way in less than 5. Produce is good and they have some brands you can't find anywhere else. It's not my primary store, but they have some great staples and unique brands from all over the country. read more

This year we are moving towards foods that contain little to no dye. As of 2017 aldi brand items are 100% dye free. Not to mention, they are extremely affordable. We love having this location close by. It's always clean, stocked and tidy. It's not a busy location which is nice. read more

Tried Aldo's a few times. They are good if you have specific things that they have. They are like Lidl's . The thing I hate. Having to have a quarter to get a cart. I have always hated this but now with Covid-19 I absolutely hate it. I do NOT carry cash. And this is why instead of 3 stars they get 2 read more

This Aldi is so convenient to my work that I do go often. I typically go to Aldi first and then what I don't get I go to Kroger for the rest and all on my lunch hour. There is plenty of parking. It's your typical Aldi...you pay a quarter for a cart but you get it back. They have some great deals and pricing. I love getting my cheeses there. It's so much more reasonable then other stores. I also love getting my snacks there. Even though there is only 1 cashier the line goes quickly!! If you have never been to an Aldi before I recommend going with someone that has that can show you the ropes. It is a bit different. They are all about speed, efficiency and friendliness. They work their butts off!!! Having said all that this particular Aldi seems to have an issue with the refrigeration. About once a month it seems to break and then they take all the food away and cover the area. It's definitely inconvenient. Not a big deal if it happens once but it seems like it's kind of a regular issue. I hope they get a more permanent solution to the problem. read more

"Finally! About time! Thank goodness." Is likely what the residents of Hilltop and this area of Virginia Beach are vocalizing. There's a Trader Joe's and a Whole Foods barely a few minutes drive away and I still think ALDI will see plenty of business. In my opinion this will be because of the mind-blowing weekly deals on produce and the non-food ALDI finds. I got a giant pineapple for 89 cents. (Valid 7 days only). I can say that this layout is different from the previous local locations I've visited. I found it interesting to walk right into a cold foods section as soon as I entered the store. Being near the door means being closer to the summer warmth. I'm just accustomed to cold foods being further/deeper into stores. But this does make it easier to pop in and grab a nice refreshing cold drink. read more

I dare you to find a place that sells yummy wine for $2.89 or less a bottle. Go ahead. This place fills up my fridge and freezer for low, low, lowww prices! Cheese, charcuterie, my beloved European cookies, snacks, and all around treats! Thanks for coming to this side of the ocean Aldi's - you have been missed. They usually only have one or two people working at the register so plan ahead if you're going on busy times. Can't really have a bad experience at this place. read more

ALDI - Grocery Near Me - Virginia Beach, Virginia

Yesterday's lone cashier with big ole cross hanging around his neck was rude to everyone, cold as ice! Enough to keep me away!

To be honest with you Aldi's has been at this location for a few years, actually more than a few years. But during the pandemic, I have found myself visiting here more often. Usually to grab milk or a block of cheddar cheese and that's mostly what I normally get. I may pick up something here or there, but you really have to inspect the fresh veggies and fruit. I normally by-pass the frozen food section because let's face it, It's a hit or miss with Aldi's. But let's face it, with all of the road construction by my home, driving a mile from my home is worth it to save on the price of milk these days! Back in 2005, we spent a summer in downtown Chicago within walking distance to Michigan Avenue. Back then I paid $7.00 for a gallon of milk just to have a big city food service deliver me a gallon of milk. And we were thinking about moving there then. I do love big cities! read more

Achtung America! Aldi is super inexpensive. The prices can't be beat. Selection can be hit or miss. I find a fav item then is disappears never to be seen again. Overall a great place To stock up on sugar milk eggs and staples but they don't have every item on your list like marscapone cheese or deli meat from actual meat counter. Bring your quarters or a foreign coin that is the size of a quarter. Hint hint. Great way to rid yourself of Canadian quarters. You didn't read this here. Wink wink. read more

Great service, really good prices, and good selection of organic ingredients. When you arrive at Aldi's you immediately notice the cart station, where you have to use of quarter to have have a shopping cart, but don't worry you'll get the quarter back once you return your cart back to the station. Their prices are a steal, and at times you might not find everything that you need but, they are verging pretty close to that line. The customer service is always great there as well you'll always be greeted with a smile. Definitely a winner on the list for grocery shopping. read more

First time here in this location. Everything is great except for the cashier that checked us out. No greetings/thank you. Most terrible customer service I've ever experienced in a grocery store. She did her greetings to the customers before us and after us, maybe because they're white and we're Asian. Racist cashier. read more

I love the location of this store it's easy to get to and has its own traffic light to leave because it is on a busy road . I think this place is a great go to for CERTAIN items on your grocery list but not all . I've found that produce is hit and miss but amazing deals on what you do find and most of the produce is grown in the U.S -I always worry about my produce coming from too far away. The pricing on chips , breads and cabinet staples is unbeatable but o do notice the cheese is priced a big higher . The frozen section has a variety of things priced well and I'll say I have yett to be dissatisfied with what I've bought from there (try the macaroni pizza ) and last but not least the random two isles of aldi exclusive items are way better than the dollar section at target !! read more

I love Aldi's and their low prices. My only complaint is that they don't seem to hire a lot of staff and lines can get backed up. Also, the sale items had slim pickings. I was hoping that they had a better stock of blackberries, but the ones on the shelf were dry looking. read more

Had one of the most humiliating experiences of my life yesterday at 430 at this store. A little back story I am a 2 time Achilles tendon foot surgery recipent (both in the past 18 months so I'm unsteady on my feet still) as well as I have major lower back degeneration. I did my shopping and was going to checkout. There was 1 checkout open and a major spill on the floor in front of it. An employee was putting a wet sign up and going to get a mop to clean it up. I looked for a second and then moved to the side and was waiting for it to be cleaned up as there was no way for me get to the checkout than walking right through it. I let other customers go around me if they chose to and when the employee returned with a mop she said she would get it cleaned up. I let her know not to worry I was fine I just didn't want to risk falling. There was 2 ladies at the register (separate transactions) and the cashier. I had already heard the 2 ladies talking about me and why I didn't just go through the puddle. Then the first lady said loud enough that I heard "what is she gonna break a hip" and then all three laughed. I proceeded to tell her yeah I probably would if I fell since I had just had 2 surgeries in the past 18 months and a bad back. Then I asked for the store manager to be called out. I told the lady as a medical professional (dressed in scrubs) she really should continue to make fun of those with medical conditions and the cashier should laugh too. I told the store manager everything that happened after the other lady told her the cashier was innocent (because she had to have been laughing at something different than the other 2 right?!).the store manager told me he would look at the tapes but he had worked with the cashier for years and she was one of the nicest people he knew and he was not choosing sides. I looked at him like he had 3 heads. I could not believe he said that. The store opened a year ago last week, he hadn't worked with her for years and he was calling me a liar in not so many words. It took everything in my power to tell him i would never be back in that store and hobble out not in tears. I got in my car and immediately called the customer care line in IL and am waiting to hear from a district manager at this point. I have never EVER had a manager tell me anything like he did and I have NEVER ever been berated for wanting to not injure myself by another human being and had an employee of any store laugh at me. The first time I went to this location I was so impressed because they're avocados were on sale for 49 cents and quite large and attractive to the eye. I also purchased a cast iron enamel pot from this location but the last two time I shopped at this location I could see that they're a little more expensive than the location on Kempsville Road. I'm not sure if that's why there were so few customers there the last two times as well. Last week I asked about the avocados because there were none at all...and I was told they have the avocados in the bag as opposed to the single avocados and that they just do not come as they used to in the past. I didn't see any of the items or specials that usually catch my eye. I paid more for their toilet paper, more for their baby wipes and their gallon bottles of water cost more as well. I just didn't feel the fun of shopping for deals as I once enjoyed at this location. read more
