I found out they were going to be here so I planned to visit the Farmers Market. Locating the Farmers Market was not too hard. The area it is located in is so cute. Parking is hard. You have to park on the street which is tight! There is a small section of parking lot opened at the church, but, that fills up fast. Parking on the street is better than the lot. Be prepared to walk to and from your car. They had about 20-30 different places. You can get fresh produce, knifes sharpened, bath products... and DOUGHNUTS! It's a nice small farmers market.

Bodacious bakehouse have you covered for your freshly baked artisan bread needs, Cowboy Syd's got your neo-southern gourmet goodies (those of you who are Norfolk locals will know about Chef Meers and his famous restaurant career), meanwhile Cullipher Farm brings you locally grown fruits and veggies from Pungo Ridge. Three ships coffee roll up in their awesome coffee machine (don't know what I mean? You should be here then!) and Doughminion Donuts brings the treats for your sugary needs, soon to close their doors in Selden Market, but they'll be here right through til September. Then there's Fayton Farms artisan cheeses offering up some finely crafted small batch cheese from Mechanicsville but locally sourced milk, and Hampton Roads Winery coming through with the vino offering a taste of their wines for $1, and my personal favorite The Flower Lady, Robin Lindsey from Portsmouth along with her heeler pup Reno - bringing fresh free range chicken and duck eggs along with locally grown flowers. It's small, but there are plenty more vendors I've not named that should be checked out. The later in the day you get there the less there is on offer to buy, but it's definitely one to check out, just make sure you bring some dollars with you, it's not the cheapest - but all in the name of supporting small businesses right!? I've now come back to Aldi's after many years for the purpose of selective healthier shopping at a…read morebargain price. I was never really a supportive customer as I found them too limited. Flash forward seven years later and friends have been telling me to go back. It's helped too that our kids are now out of the house. Friends swore their organic produce alone is worth it. But other items as well like their own healthier line "Specially Selected". I found the store clean and organized as I shopped for specific healthier options. When you walk in your greeted with the produce department that I was immediately impressed with. They offer a lot and you can choose non organic, or a bit pricier organic. The prices specifically on organic are more reasonable than Trader Joe's, Wegmans, or Kroger that I regularly visit. I also found their "Specially Selected" line on the bread aisle. Not just one, but several types from ciabatta and whole wheats. Also Ambrose bread for cheesesteaks that's harder to find. Ok not as healthy but yum! Other items Two Good yogurt and organic milk both more reasonable than other stores. They offer much more, but I thought highlighting a few of Aldi's healthier items would bring exposure to the grocer. I was disappointed with healthier choices with can foods. I will be back for sure, but only for limited items.

OK. I only go to two Aldi's the one on 21st in the Ghent area and the one on little creek in…read moreNorfolk. I really like these two stores because the staff is always nice and patient. Now the Ghent store is clean with the exception of where you get your carts that area is a hot mess. But I love the prices and I took my son and his girlfriend there to teach them how to ball on a budget. And Aldi's is the place to do just that.

aldi has started not giving change back if it includes pennys. I was there yesterday. Was told that…read morethey no longer order pennys, so unless they have change that someone pays with, they can't give pennys back. Yet, the receipt they give you for purches/change indicates that they did give the pennys back to me..which they did not...sounds illegal to me. Though I've liked Aldis in the past, this new practice should minimally show a correct receipt. not sure I'll be shopping there anymore for the pure fact of how they are now not practicing change legally.

I usually always have good experiences here. ALDI has the best prices for a lot of the things I buy…read moreand I like the how quickly I can get in and out. My only complaint is the cashiers just need to be trained better on scanning and placing items in the cart. I'm picky so I like bagging my own groceries, but I've had items damaged or fruit bruised from how aggressively the cashiers toss items in the cart. Today I had to correct while the cashier was scanning because he had dropped several heavy items like canned sodas and boxed wine on top of fresh chicken (non frozen) and some fruit. I was frustrated and complained to the cashier after the second time and I got no apology, just "well you need to tell me how to put them". Admittedly I didn't put a lot of thought into how I ordered my items on the belt, but I didn't have a lot of items and there was more than enough space in the cart to put them safely. I was a cashier for several years as a teen and never required a customer to tell me how to do my own job when it's common sense to not put heavy items on top of fragile ones.

Tried shopping here but I didn't have a quarter and there was a huge line at the only open register…read moreso I couldn't get a cart without a 10-20 min wait. Manager had his head up his ass and was useless not doing anything about the lines.
