Without giving it a try, I had already made up my mind that I wouldn't like this supermarket. I had heard that you had to bag your own food. And even worse, the only way to obtain a shopping cart was with a quarter deposit. Then you had to return the cart to get your money back. What a bummer!! I like service with a smile, preferably the great stores with hardwood floors, classical music & clerks that take your food choices out of the cart for you. Even the German blood running through my veins, complements of my great grandmother, hadn't temped me to venture into another part of town to sample the store's selections. What a surprise it was to see an Aldi's sign at a construction site next to my rheumatologist on First Colonial Road. Stopping by the infusion room on my way out I chatted with someone and mentioned "Did you see the Aldi's being built next door?" She had but said it wasn't nearly as big as the one on Shore Drive. Shore Drive..... Where? Bayside Shopping Center was the answer, almost in walking distance from my house. Well.... actually in walking distance for the more able bodied I stopped on my way home. The store was spacious with wide aisles. It was clean and brightly lit. The shopping center's parking is convenient and plentiful. I decided to walk every aisle. Their selection was limited. But I was delighted to find some organic veggies for an unbelievable price. They even had my baby arugula and spinach mix. The paper goods seemed to be priced at a "come hither" level. Milk prices were similar to other chain stores. I saw no prepared "ready to cook" dishes that I love to purchase from the high end grocers. Bringing my own bags won't be a problem. I carry an ample supple in my vehicles all the time. Save the planet!! Plus they are much easier to carry into the house than plastic or paper. The only stumbling block left was how the carts worked. I saw no place to pay or return. So I stood and watched a lady take a cart. She explained exactly how it worked. Put a quarter in a slot in the cart itself. When you push the cart back into the line of carts and reattach the chain, it returns your quarter. I will return for salad fixings and paper goods. And I'll make a slower pass down the aisles for more bargain items. It won't be my "go to" store. But it is a very welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Wonderful employees and cheap quality products. The store is nice, cool and clean. Everything is easy to find. Parking is right in front

When you return it you will get that quarter back so I suggest you keep that silver piece in a special place in your car.

The event included food trucks and a variety of vendors. My friend and I grabbed some BBQ from S&J Catering and it was delicious. We also grabbed donuts from Klassic Donuts and Glazed & Infuzed as well, which were very tasty. As we walked through the different shops, I absolutely loved all the fresh local, produce that was available. One of the shops offered a variety of jarred items and sauces so I purchased Crab Salsa and Spicy Pickled Okra. Both were very good and I definitely need to go back and get more! I absolute love supporting local businesses and I will definitely be returning very soon! Everyone was very nice and I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

There's a seafood market, a butcher shop, a dessert shop, ice cream shop, and a restaurant. The prices are pretty reasonable and the people who work there are pretty friendly. There's plenty of parking. They have carnivals, food trucks, and different events. Check their FB page or website for dates of special events. It's a fun place to go and kill time when you just need something to do. I enjoyed my visit!! Check them out!!

The fact that I see Kroger hire such amazing people is so heart warming. They certainly don't have…read moreto do that, but they do and that makes me feel like there is still hope for humanity. Food: Love the Sushi at Kroger! GLUTEN: This is a general recommendation for all grocery stores really... I wish it was easier to Identify food that was not made with Gluten. I don't mean Gluten Free, I mean it's not in the ingredients. For those of us with just sensitivity (Who don't have Ciliacs) it would be nice to have a big Ol sign that said "Does not contain Gluten!" That way I don't have to spend 3 hours looking at ingredients of anything I'm not familiar with.

I recently placed a grocery pickup order with Kroger, and while parts of the experience were great,…read morethere were definitely a few issues that need attention. First, I want to highlight the young gentleman who brought my order out -- he was incredibly kind, polite, and took the time to let me know about out-of-stock items and substitutions. I truly appreciated his communication and customer service. However, I was disappointed when I reviewed my receipt after pickup. My total jumped from around $50 to $61 because my $20 off $75 coupon was removed. Due to several items being unavailable (including my coffee and fresh mozzarella), my order dropped below the threshold. While I understand how the system works, it was still frustrating to lose the discount due to out-of-stock items beyond my control. The biggest issue, though, was the way my groceries were bagged. The bags were extremely heavy and not packed with care. My two living herb plants were placed in a bag with a 5 lb bag of flour, a 5 lb bag of potatoes, and cartons of broth -- which completely crushed the plants. My eggs were also packed under heavier items like butter, carrots, and other groceries, which could have easily resulted in damage. On top of that, everything was condensed into just three very heavy bags, which made it nearly impossible to carry them up a flight of stairs. I did call customer service, and they were helpful in refunding the damaged plants, which I appreciate. But overall, the bagging process really needs improvement. Proper grocery bagging is basic, and it makes a big difference in the customer experience. I'll continue to use pickup for the convenience, but I hope to see better attention to detail moving forward -- especially when it comes to how items are packed. Groceries cost a lot of money nowadays and to bag them carelessly is really frustrating.
