Yesterday I was there shopping around for products to make macaroni and cheese. As I was looking, a worked who was tall, African American, she had a nose piercing, and is on the heavier side. She was standing looking at me with a nasty look. She walked past me muttering something along the lines of my financial situation. She then proceeded to follow me around the store as if I was going to steal something and peaking in my bag like I am a criminal. I enjoyed shopping at this Harris Teeter store. Harris Tetter cares for military veterans. They have parking spaces at the front of the parking lot with signage for veterans. That means a lot to us. The store is clean and well organized with a good variety of fresh produce, prepared foods, and pantry items. I liked the service at the register. The cashier was fast and efficient. The prices at Harris Teeter are a little higher than I expected on this trip, but not enough to change my mind about any items. I will definitely consider other grocery stores for my meat selections and fresh bread in the future, but this experience was pleasant. The access to this location is great. The parking area is huge, and the individual spaces actually fit my SUV with room to spare. I will come back. read more

Harris Teeter is a pretty nice grocery store. I can normally find lots of things that aren't at other stores. They have a big selection!! But i do find that they're a bit more on the pricey side. I can find the same meats at Foodlion or Emart for a cheaper price, but they do have more options and you can speak directly to the butcher if you want it cut a certain way. Thats a plus.. Their bakery section is pretty nice. I normally get their 2 layer cakes for birthdays and the whipped frosting is always delicious. They have several flavors to choose from.. The cookies, brownies, and sweet section is pretty popping... I found some pretty scrumptious donut sticks on the goodie table. For $8 i didn't know what to expect, but after microwaving them they kicked my butt and i fell for them.. Lol... I won't tell you which ones so there's some left when i go back... Lmbo.. If you come too late in the day there's always a gnat or fly hanging out in the donut area... I tried not to say it, but literally every time i come they're there to!! Lol... Party in the donut showcase!! So make sure you check.. On this day i was searching to see what was new. I found some 7 layer dip for $9, which was kinda steep for some beans tossed in a container with nothing done to them.. Lol. But i was pleasantly surprised because it was delicious!! 2am in the morning I'm up eating 7 layer dip and chips secretly. It certainly hit the spot.. Lol.. They also have their salad bar back. I really like the salad bar but i saw some people do some questionable things over that stuff. So be cautious.. If it doesn't look right don't get it... But yeah, it looks good for the most part.. There's a good variety of salad dressings and toppings and they weigh it by the pound.. So don't get in there being all fancy expecting a cheap salad. You're gonna pay for that lettuce!! Lol. But its pretty good! They also have more top line meat brands in the deli here. Boars Head is one of my favs for sure. You can get sushi and deli sandwiches here also. So its a 1 stop shop!! The store was clean and in order. I do wish they had more variety of cat food, but they've got everything else. I returned some bread that had expired and they gave me a refund with no problem. Definitely make sure you get the Vic card. It will save you money. I love watching the money come off at the end. It makes me feel like i did something.. Lol. You also earn fuel points. So its worth it and they just built a new gas station right out front. So its pretty convenient... The staff is mostly nice and helpful and if you love frozen foods they have a wide selection.. I find all the most delicious ice creams here. Checkout is pretty simple and they have a huge parking lot with options to pickup your groceries by pulling up right out front. After being away for a week, we needed to at least have some stuff in for breakfast and lunch tomorrow. This HT is open 24 hours and so that made it an easy stop on the way back from the airport (after having dinner at a restaurant in the same plaza). Even at 10 PM, the produce area was well stocked and well cared for. While the meat counter was not open, the meats bunkers were well stocked. Grocery was tidy and the dairy sections were in great shape. I've very pleased with our quick shop tonight at Harris Teeter! read more

I'm sad to give a Harris Teeter 3 stars instead of five because it is one of my favorite grocery stores in the area. However, I went two days ago to go grocery shopping and it looked like a hurricane hit the store or at least that one was coming! I've never seen it so empty and disheveled. The produce looked sad and tired. And they usually are very fresh and plentiful. Most of the expiration dates on ready made salads and other pre made meals were expiring the same day or very soon. There was barely any variety on frozen meats. I wanted to get some grapes but they looked like they were dying to. It was a sad day. So I got about half of my groceries and left. I'll have to complete my grocery shopping elsewhere perhaps Trader Joe's will be better. I will say on the flip side there were more BOGO, sale and $1 off on items than I'd ever seen before but I believe that was to get the expiring items out faster. Most cases and items on the aisle were just thrown a little and unorganized they even barely had hot dogs left! LOL To end on a good note. As far as COVID adherence, the employees wore mask and gloves, the food cases, aisles and floors looked clean. They cleaned the carts after each customer. I'll go visit again but no time soon. read more

I was very pleased with the selection in the bakery. The lady behind the counter quickly assisted me and did a great job on my daughters cake. The taste was amazing! read more

I LOVE this store. The staff are always so polite and helpful and friendly here... it is a far cry from the noise and crowd at Wal Mart, Kroger, Food Lion, etc. These stores are rarely over crowded and typically don't have noisy children running up and down the aisles making noises and getting in the way. The deli fresh breads are delicious - I always get the jalapeno cheddar or rosemary italian round roll. I also like to get the deli baked chocolate chip cookies because they are soooo good. The store is always very clean and neat with no clutter. It is MUCH more expensive than Wal Mart or probably any other store but the experience is nice and I enjoy their quality produce and products. I'm so glad this is my neighborhood grocery store. I've been coming to this one for many years and I've always left as a happy customer. Yes- the prices may be a little high compared to the other stores, but as I like to say, "you get what you pay for". But very often, they have awesome BOGO deals, in addition to their e-Vic specials, and the free weekend offers! Stack a coupon that doubles up to 99 cents and you have an even better deal! This particular store is always clean, and the meat and produce section is one of the best around. The staff, including management are courteous and helpful. I like to coupon here, especially during super doubles (coupons double up to $2) and I never feel like a bother. Unlike the other stores who huff and puff the minute you pull out coupons. At times when an item doesn't ring up correctly, the staff at the customer service counter is quick to adjust your transaction, while still being pleasant! I left today and at least three of the employees wished me a good evening as I walked out. I said to myself "wow". This is why Harris Teeter- Brenneman is my favorite grocery store! read more

Thumbs down for my visit today. I'm usually a big fan of Harris teeter it's one of the only specialty supermarkets in the area. But lately it has gotten more and more expensive. You can always go to Walmart but you will not find the Spesh the items that you will find here. You can also go to Food Lion but once again you will not find the specialty items that you will find here. Today I gave you three stars because your self checkout counters were not open at 9:30 in the morning, there were lines at every register that was open and the excuse that I was given was that they had to put cash into the registers. I usually go to Harris Teeter for hard to find items or a sale on seafood. They're expensive but the first thing I saw when I walked in Monday afternoon was a sale on their prepared foods like the double dipped, fried chicken, rotisserie chicken and turkey breasts. The 8 piece bucket of fried chicken and the 8 piece baked chicken was $4.99. I didn't taste either but if I had been on my way home I would've purchased the turkey breast for $10. read more

Clean, lots of parking, open 24 hours. Okay now that that's out of the way.. Tonight I stepped in to buy some eggs. Okay so that's an understatement. I bought a lot of eggs because I am my parent's errand girl. They asked me to buy a lot from HT because they were on sale. So I rolled up, put them in my basket, and went to self check-out, just minding my own business. The manager (?) came to clear some baskets off of my station, which I thought was a nice gesture, when he turned to me, pointed at me, and said "No more. I will let you buy your eggs, but your people are not allowed to buy so many. I am putting a limit on them. And your friend? I did not like him, he bought too many." And walked off. I don't have an issue with the fact that he was tired of Asians coming in and buying all his eggs for their own businesses. Sure, I can get that that's frustrating especially if other customers want them but can't because someone else beat them to it and bought the remaining supply. But the way that the situation was approached to me was considerably rude. MY people? MY friend? Get out of here. There are better ways to speak to paying customers. So now I'm off to egg his house. ... Kidding! I won't be coming back though. Ugh. read more

I have debated leaving a review for this store and I hate to rate so low. The store itself is large. It has everything you can possibly need from organic foods, to a floral center, and skin care. They even have gas pumps with discounted rates for using your VIC card. Prices are a little high, but Harris Teeter is a level up from other stores. They're always clean and stocked. Employees are usually nice and all about customer service. I usually come in for the salad bar. Then grab whatever I need to cook dinner for that evening. One afternoon I was at the salad bar. There was a young man restocking items. I encountered a woman who must be management. She had purple/reddish color hair. Anyways she must not have saw me or saw me and didn't care. She yelled at the employee that looked like a minor. She said he couldn't do anything correct and she was going to write him up. His response was I am sorry. I didn't see him doing anything wrong. He then proceeded to walk into the employees only section and she followed closely behind still reprimanding this young man. I was disgusted someone could be so unprofessional especially dealing with a minor and in front of a customer. If this happens in front of customers what is this woman doing behind closed doors especially with minors who are still learning and navigating the work environment. read more

Some people tens to shop at other markets rather than spending the extra coins at places such as Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joes but not me. I believe that you get what you pay for and I love shopping at a clean market with staff that care about their store. Harris teeter meets all of my requirements in those areas and has exceptional customer service. What I love most about this location besides it's cleanliness is the fact that once you are ready to checkout, there are cashiers standing out near the aisles asking yo assist you in a speedy checkout. PS. It also doesn't hurt that you can receive $20 off of your grocery total when you fill prescriptions thorough there pharmacy which is also exceptional. read more

Harris Teeter locations are all generally the same, which I appreciate. I only my stop by this one occasionally but every time I do I can count on it being clean and having a wide variety of items. I appreciate that there are always food samples. The hot bar and salad bar alway look well maintained. They have a beautiful floral section, and ample wine selection. Harris Teeter doesn't have the best prices unless you can catch things on sale, other than that this place would be 5 stars. read more

I love HT. I'll drive 30 minutes out of my way to come here. I mainly like this place because A: they double coupons every day, and B: it is always clean. The staff here can be hit and miss. Occasionally I'll come in and have all of the employees bend over backwards for me, ask how I'm doing, ask if I can find something, speak to my children. Other times I'll come in and get eyes rolled at me for being in an employees' way, or have no one even speak to me. Either way, I love coming here, their produce selection is amazing, I just wish they had more Organic offerings overall. read more

I absolutely love this Harris Teeter! I used to think that HT was more expensive than other grocery stores and shopped at another grocery store. When my regular grocery store underwent a renovation, I didn't like how the groceries were organized, I had a hard time finding what I needed, and I was disappointed in the produce. I started shopping at Harris Teeter and realized the prices are actually really good- sometimes AMAZING- when you shop the sales. I've been using their online ordering option which is a total lifesaver. I can order groceries from my computer or phone (they sync automatically, so my online cart is always updated no matter what device I use), and schedule a pick up when I'm ready. I usually just click on the specials and start there. The website and app are nicely organized, and my order is always perfect. If a requested item is out of stock, they offer a comparable (or better) item at the same price. To pick up, you just pull up, hit a button, and they load your groceries. They won't even accept a tip. A total MUST for busy parents, when a spouse is deployed and you don't want to wrangle crazy kids in a grocery, or for people who have a tough time getting around. I've only had a problem on two orders (out of like...a bazillion?), and the manager fixed it right away with zero hassle. read more

Although Harris Teeter is a little more expensive than most grocery stores around here, I love the produce. Seriously, they have the best selection and typically some of the nicest produce in the area... followed by Farm Fresh. I love that! Also, the meat section is great. I also like the selection of cheeses and the olive bar. The isle's have a ton of great items as well. You can get white and black truffle flavored olive oils as well as champagne vinegar. Also, the beer selection is impressive for a grocery store. All in all I really like the selection that Harris Teeter has to offer, I just wish the prices were more reasonable. If you are an economic shopper, you can achieve quality without going bankrupt. Harris brand organic eggs and milk for example were on sale a couple days ago, actually a few cents less than their non-organic production farmed counterparts. And, many of the Harris brand items are fairly inexpensive everyday. The aforementioned milk and eggs for example are only 50 cents over the non-organics when normally priced. I have yet to be attended to by a discourteous employee. Deli persons are always happy and patient in dealing with the most persnickety shoppers. I do tend to steer clear of wines not on sale as patience and a drive over to total Wine for even better deals on the very same labels. Again, if you focus on sales and coupons, Harris Teeter makes for a quality stop. read more

I have shopped at Harris Teeters at 4900 Princess Anne Road and South Plaza Trails for close to 4 years, but I will go elsewhere from now on. Some of the evening staff which are mainly high schoolers are rude and unprofessional. Some of their items are on sale but it is expensive to shop there. My neighbors do not shop here. I would suggest either a different location because their salad bar is not always fresh and is very limited . Their refrigerated items have same day dates "to use by". Their fish and seafood is not very fresh. In fact, I did have a problem twice with the shrimp which was not on ice. When I brought it home to cook, that same evening, it smelled like ammonia, both times. *** Virginia Beach Blvd Harris Teeters offers much more, is much larger and has a very nice hot food, fresh salad bar and their own Pizzeria.... Not sure this the place, but when it comes to produce, they have a great selection, always fresh, (just no large tubs of basil, boohoo!) And they beer and wine selection as well, and the ABC Manager is WONDERFUL, forgive the forgetting of her name, but she is always very helpful and doesn't mind referring to other local stores if they don't have what you need and her knowledge is never ending! International and ethnic foods... again, spot o and HUGE... but the spices are a bit pricey but when you need them for that special Mario Batali recipe, you can't substitute the best with the rest... Could be a great store. Open 24 hrs, and plenty of parking. Store is pretty clean, but you need to check expiration dates! Especially eggs and yogurt. Even though store was purchased by Kroger, they kept their name and their pricing...expensive. But the thing they need to work on most, is having more checkout lines open, instead of just having employees walking around up front doing nothing. It takes FOREVER to checkout! Updating this review, as I have noticed they are trying to keep more cashiers on hand. The expiration dates have really been paid attention to, as I have not come across any expired dates. The only thing that is keeping me from giving 5 stars is the pricing. I feel the markup is very high compared to the exact same items from other grocery stores. Just bought a butt load of egg white beaters that were on sale! Remember to have your Harris Teeter card ready so you can take advantage of all the discounts! This one isn't as nice as the one in Ghent, but it's nice enough. Plenty of parking around and it's on my way back from Holly Ridge Manor! This is not my primary grocery store but I like to come here from time to time to pick up a few things. I definitely recommend getting a VIC card to reduce the cost on sale items. The sales here very good and worth an extra trip on a grocery run. A really neat thing that Harris Teeter does for VIC cardholders is that they send emails on deals that are catered for you and your shopping trends. Another plus to HT, their donuts are probably the largest of any of their competitors, the fat boy in me had to bring a spotlight on such an awesome feature. read more

Came here today to grab a few things and was really happy with how they organized the produce, the bakery, and the beer selection. My husband and I like shopping here because there is always a good deal (today was mozzarella cheese b1g2 free!!) and the unique kind of beers they have in stock. Sadly Farm Fresh is shuttering. Having to settle for others, I have given Harris Teeter some more attention. Today I went there for something I had never gone there for. That was a sub from their deli. Countless times I have walked by the little sub station giving it little to any attention. Well I finally gave a sub a go and I am glad I did. Made right in front of you, you are given 3 bread options and the bread selection was a surprise. They had white, wheat, or three cheese, all of which I am sure came from their bakery. I went for the three cheese and was extremely impressed with the amount of cheese atop it and for how tasty the bread was. Being able to choose between a whole or a half, I went with a whole. The whole size is big, big enough to where I could not finish it. I would have been better suited to get the half. Inside the sub, they put a nice amount of provolone as well as turkey, but there are plenty of other choices you can make. I then had a lot of options for fixings, going with mayo, oil, vinegar, lettuce, onion, banana pepper, salt, and pepper. There are a few more options, but I settled with only the aforementioned. The sub once complete was a nice size, packed full of extras making me wonder how much it would be. Much to my surprise, it only was a mere $6.99 and the sub was terrific -- I really enjoyed it! Each bite was met with soft bread with a delightful crunch from the lettuce, onion, and banana peppers. I am so glad I gave "The Sub Shop" a chance. I typically go to Jersey Mike's, Firehouse, or Zero's, but after today's experience, I may opt to come here. I go to this Harris Teeter maybe 3x or more a week. Just to pick up things here and there. Its my favorite one to go to, the only things I would have to "complain" about is that I have, on numerous occasions, had to wait several minutes for anyone to help me at the bread counter. I feel like they should maybe put a call button there or something? I dont think I should have to search the whole grocery store for someone to help me. Another thing PLEASE get more triton distilled water and seasalt sparkling wine . I always have to go to TWO different Harris Teeters to get these two things. If you want more than two Sea salts, forget it, cause thats usually all thats left & they have none in the back either. Other than that everyone is friendly, and helpful read more

In February I started using the express lane service at the Harris Teeter in Ghent (1320 Colonial Avenue). I had such a great experience. Having a brand new baby and being a first time mom, being able to order online and conveniently pick up on the time/day of my choice was great!! They were always friendly and my order was always spot on. I can honestly say I had ZERO issues/concerns and I ordered my groceries from this location every week from February until I moved to VA Beach in July. Unfortunately I have had the complete opposite experience with my local Harris Teeter in VA Beach (4540 Princess Anne Rd). The first week my card was charged twice and the second week my card was charged three times AND a different card that was on file (that I was not even using) was charged 3 times. When I talked to customer service, her response was " I don't know why the other card was charged, that's strange, and it will probably be refunded)". All the inappropriate charges were eventually reversed (but it took over a week). The next week they put an entire raw chicken in the same bag as a head of lettuce!!!!!, and we ordered 3 poblano peppers and they gave us 1 jalapeno pepper. When we discussed with them that it is inappropriate to put those items together , they did not seem overly concerned? The following week we were scheduled to pick up our groceries at 10:30am and when we got to the store, they told us that they were sorry but so many people called out that our order would not be ready until later in the day. When We came back later in the day, they told us they had given us a 5 dollar refund and put a gift card in our grocery bag. When we got home and unpacked our groceries there was NO gift card in the bag. We share one vehicle and our 6 month old daughter is in a spica splint. A simple phone call letting us know that our groceries would not be ready until later in the day would have been appreciated. We used the express lane to make our lives easier, and this is actually making our lives more difficult now. We have spent so much time on the phone with VA Beach Harris Teeter customer service and our bank since moving to VA Beach. We have been loyal Harris Teeter customers since we both moved to Downtown Norfolk in 2015. This experience not only has convinced me to NEVER go to that specific location (4540 Princess Anne Rd) but I also think I will be finding a new grocery store to shop at. read more

Best one in the area for great customer service in getting subs. We get 2-4 subs a month so we go very often. I always ask for them to cut honey maple turkey cut fresh when getting a sub & they never complain like the 1 on VB Blvd does. Most times they always greet me with a smile,ask how my day is going & they never complain, huff & puff/ roll their eyes to all Ur requests like VB Blvd does. Since moving closer to the VB Blvd one I haven't been to this one in a few months which sucks bc I got spoiled with how great their sub customer service is. I will say up front tho their cashiers, the self check out employees, as well as mangers have made me NOT put all stars. Reason being they don't care for u to bother them with any questions, concerns, or suggestions. Mostly the older woman cashier & the middle age man that is a manger. They always have this attitude. If they worked on/ let go of theirs cashiers as well as their mangers they would be a awesome store! read more

Absolutely love this place , it's always a nice peaceful & quite place to shop unlike Walmart . They're open 24hours. The customer service is great . I always check out their meal deals . Meal deals consist of an entree a main course a snack including chips or something of that sort and a drink . And you get it all under a discounted price . One example is the "tgi Friday" meal deal . I love the potato bites and jalapeño poppers . I buy Harris teeter brand sweet tea on the regular and it's taste so natural & great . I'm not sure of other locations but this location has the option of you grocery shopping online and picking you order up . That's where you Order online and you don't even have to leave your car . They bring your groceries out to you! I love sushi & Harris teeter always have Fresh sushi out . They have a seafood bar along with a fresh salad bar .
