Plenty of parking and the lot was clear of debris. The strip is very old and desperate for renovation. Signage is good enough., Over possibly three visits customer service has been just ok. Selection of products has also been weak. The store has been clean and organized. With so many other ABC stores in the area this is one I would personally skip unless you specifically find yourself in the strip. 2.5 rounding up.

Two hour parking is off street or nearby garage that's FREE! The area is nicely kept with sidewalks power washed weekly and windows washed weekly. I did spot debris outside their door however on my most recent visit. On November 10th the state of Virginia had a special bourbon release across the state. Formerly lottery bottles were available in all stores across the Old Dominion. I lined up early on a beautiful Fall day with others that became friends after six hours. The manager peeked out at around 8 AM and gave numbers out. She was terrific. I was #4 for Wellers Full Proof. It's retail $50, on the secondary market hundreds. At noon when the store opened everything was orderly and checkout was smooth. The cashier was friendly and wore a mask. The store is a smaller floor plan, but packs a punch on inventory, especially bourbon. It was a fun day learning more about bourbon and how to locate rare bottles from new friends that were much more knowledgeable than I. The Weller was incredible by the way.

I have had the pleasure of dealing directly with her once on a specific issue that was quickly resolved. They receive their deliveries on Monday morning. If your looking for something new be there before noon. My most recent allocation bottle was an Old Fitzgerald 14. I had a really bad experience here. One of the employees, Rex, harassed me and was just very…read moreinappropriate with me. I've already submitted a complaint, but wanted to share my experience here. As soon as I walked in, he was looking at me like a piece of meat. I grabbed my 375ml bottle of Absolut and attempted to check out. He took the bottle from me and then said, "You look amazing." I just laughed it off. He kept staring at me, not scanning the product. Super creepy. Then, even worse, he said, "We need to get a drink sometime," and finally scanned it. And I'm convinced he kept screwing with the POS to make my card not read on the device, and he was just eating me up the whole time with his eyes. He restarted the whole transaction again so I could finally pay. Then, he was like, "So, want to get a drink?" and I just walked off with what I bought, laughing it off again. I'm not one for confrontation, I just wanted to get away. He then was like "Oh.... ok." disappointedly. I was super creeped out. This really isn't any way for state employees to treat people. It was just gross. If I'm going to the ABC store, I want to buy their products, not get harassed by their employees. Watch out if you're a lady. I never went in here again after that, I just send my boyfriend in.

The space has had a number of occupants over the years. When we moved to Virginia Beach, it was an A&P. That gave water to a Farm Fresh. Both were long term grocers who eventually went out of business. The space was emptied for a while as Haygood Shopping Center underwent a massive face lift in anticipation of Harris Teeter. Having previously shopped at their store near Sam's Club on Virginia Beach Boulevard I anticipated the opening. But the reality brought a lack of customer service in the spacious store with wide aisles. For years I never considered shopping at Harris Teeter. Lately I've reevaluated that choice. I've found they have my favorite flavor of high protein yogurt. Their produce is fresh & full of flavor. A big plus is their distilled water in the type of container that's easy to maneuver. It's also priced right. Harris Teeter is definitely is a step above a number of the chain grocers in Coastal Virginia. But it's a step below others, lacking the prepared or ready to prepare entrees that make life so much easier. I'm happy I rediscovered Harris Teeter. It's nice to add another store to my shopping mix.
