been going there for almost a year and over a half dozen heroes I have ordered I made for people that are children. They put no meat on the heroes and then you got workers telling you when the meal is not made the way you feel that this is not their job. My wife and I put in an online order for two subs from their deli. after 10 or 15 minutes we received an email saying the order was ready. I love this store. I actually pass Kroger to come here because I love it more. The employees are always so friendly and helpful. I've had employees take me all over the store looking for a product and then when they realized they didn't have it, they told me where I could go to buy it. My favorite employees are the ones at checkout. Frank is always friendly, as well as Tahquisha. They're both a pleasure to talk to. There's another guy, but I don't remember his name. Then other random employees I see around the store always say hello or good morning and ask me how my day is going. This store has the absolute best customer service. I just had surgery and was trying to make it to the store before it closed and I was struggling. I arrived at 9:58 and Denise told me they were about to close in 2 min and reopened at 6am. I explain my situation ask her to please give me 5 min and she do more then that. She stayed and checked me out with her manager snd co worker. Super nice, large and clean HT off Va Beach Blvd. It's in a prime location sandwiches between two interstate exits and near a few nice neighborhoods tucked back by the water. Easy in and out bc of stoplights nearby and it has multiples entrances and exits. The store is large and has everything you need from HT with a large bakery and produce section. read more

Solid grocery store. Average produce selection. Fresh greens seem to wilt within two days when I purchase them here. They have an excellent value floral selection, nice enough for simply bouquets for around the house. Meat department is a hit or miss, doesn't seem to be quite that fresh either. Their selection of international foods just doesn't cut it. If you need a couple items and you are in the area so be it. If you are seeking freshness and variety shop at Wegman's. read more

Have adored Harris Teeter since it arrived in Atlanta. Then it left. But lo and behold it is still operational in Virginia Beach. The produce is still excellent. Best winter vegetables. Seasonal fruit could stand some improvement. Fresh fish also are excellent and reasonable for high protein. It's not WF or TJ or the other fancy Nancy grocers but it's my go to, and you can't beat Starbucks and cafe tables on the premises at the Courthouse Square. Btw - five stars would mean you're feeding the poor with the unexpired food that the states insist you throw away, so...until then HT is at the top of my four star list! read more

Though I don't usually do my shopping here, I ordered a pizza next door and wanted to make a quick pit stop. Came through the side door and almost got caged in by the register ropes, but I made it! And stumbled upon some discounted beer. Not my drink of choice but it was interesting to see. Was casually wasting time so I just strolled around but I saw they had store maps for when you do get lost. Great for when you can't find an employee or just don't want to interact with others. Also noticed they have outdoor seating for sale and on display. I usually do self checkout, but they always have employees available to ring someone up or help as needed. I come to this Harris Teeter a lot, it is always nicely organized and stocked. The short, older gentlemen that works in the back area, that is normally stocking near the deli and sausages is always so informative and nice. I wish I could have seen his name tag so I didn't have to describe him but I want his supervisor to to know how good of a worker he is. Always soo pleasant. The reason I'm giving the low rating is because this lady Araceli was soooo rude. Honestly she is always so rude, but I never knew her name. I made sure to get it today. If you are in the produce area and ask her a question about things that I know she knows because she is in that area stocking, she will say she doesn't know. I asked her for something and she didn't even turn around to answer and said she does not know. Horrible customer service. read more

Harris Teeter is a great supermarket. They have mostly everything you can need. I love when they have cheese from Spain, I love good cheese. Very good deals in ricotta cheese as well! Good selection of vegetables, sometimes I wish all tomatos were good. I love all the sauces selection, ice creams, meat less options, yogurts and it might be weird, but their tomato crushed can is the best I found, amazing flavor. I like to cook the tomato for the pasta at home. Service is great and I recommend being a Harris Teeter member, many deals. I wish the parking had more light, it gets very dark at night and during winter. read more

Rain check please! I shop at this store from time to time because it's super convenient to my workplace. But what I found out recently is that HT offers rain checks on items that are out of stock. So let me tell you what happened. A month or so ago, I saw the Smithfield bacon (any kind) on sale, by 3 get 3 free. Oh also, the weekly sales/ad are issued every Wednesday. So with that in mind, I visited on a Friday evening about 6 pm. I searched and searched but I didn't see the "on sale" bacon (particular kind I wanted) anywhere. An associate happened to be restocking some items nearby and must have noticed me looking up in down in the freezers... So he came over and pointed out the bacon that was on sale, but none were of my interest. So this is when I found out...rain checks are offered! He advised to go to customer service and let an associate know what item you want and the worker will write you a rain check for that item or items and I would need to redeem it before the expiration date listed on the check. OH.M.GEE!!! I had no clue this option was available. So everyone...just because a sale item is out of stock don't be discouraged you can return and get the same item at the sale price via the rain check just before the expiration date of course. I was super thankful for this associate assisting me, I forgot to ask his name... Nevertheless, this store seems to never be busy when I visit and that's usually during the week after 6 pm. While I have visited a few times during lunch about 1 pm it still doesn't seem to draw in large crowds. This store is always tidy and you are sure to see at least five employees working down the aisles restocking items...busy bees! I often use the self checkout...super convenient! There is always someone there to assist if assistance is needed. This store is located among other shops including: eateries, banks, Sam's Club and Kroger is directly across the street. It's located off the busy Virginia Beach Blvd. and more than a handful other stores surround this grocery. I also believe this is a 24 hour grocery. A huge store here...so if you don't have a list you may be all over...there's a lot to see here and possible spend more than you want. And like more stores, HT offers a discount card that you can sign up for and it's totally FREE. Also, if you have reusable bags bring them in to save a few pennies. I LOVE me those Harris Teeter deals! Buy 2 get 3 three free is awesome if you have room in your fridge, freezer, pantry. The produce here is usually pretty good. I like the guy that works in the produce section because on more than one occasion when he saw me contemplating the loose green beans he asked me how I thought they looked and wanted to make sure I was pleased with the selection. I appreciate his care for quality control. I like coming here because they carry my FAVORITE gelato, which I only purchase on sale (so very rare). The layout in every Harris Teeter is different so when I go to various locations it takes me a tad longer to make my way around the store. I've always had cool cashiers at this location, the ones that make friendly conversation as they ring you up. read more

The worst experience at a grocery store. I asked for help finding something and the person asked me if I saw a box and I told him no. He was on his cell and looked at me in disbelief and said "you didn't see x over there" with a side eye. I said no and he looked bothered that he had to show me where it was. At the location there were no cards and nothing to indicate the contents of that location. Then I went to the customer service station to get something and the manager was socializing with someone as the line was getting long. This is the second or 3rd time I've experienced this type of customer service. read more

This is my first time visiting this particular Harris Teeter in almost 2 years. The way the store is organized kind of threw me off a bit, but I was still able to navigate my way through. I was surprised to see that they have dinning area, and it's pretty big. I wasn't a big fan of the cashier's personality, but the guys in the seafood department were extremely pleasant. I will be coming back here going forward. I was in need of cupcakes for my son bday party. I came here after having to cancel with Sams club. They was able to take my order and have it ready on time. Jermaine spoke with me the most. He was super sweet and went above trying to accommodate me. The baker/decorator was April. She called me the day she got in to understand what I wanted. I was nervous because I order cupcakes from Kroger's and they were done sloppy. She was able to mix black, white and yellow for my sons Batman theme. They didn't have topper which is fine, I do those myself. She did a wonderful job mixing the colors and super sweet everything time I spoke with her. You want some done right and with people who care... come to this location. The entire staff was nice. I don't remember there names but they are not forgotten. Thank you all. read more

Harris Teeter had some interesting and unbeatable weekly specials with the VIC card (free reward program): 3 organic raspberries 6 oz for $5 (Kroger is selling conventional raspberries for $2.99 each container), 3 blackberries containers for $5, $1.99 1 lb. Brussels sprouts, 2 lbs. raw carrots at $.97. Madison, the attendant at the self-check-out was friendly and efficient. The store was clean. It was easy and free to park. read more

The quality of this Harris Teeter's produce and pre-packaged meats has declined considerably in the past few years. I purchase a lot of fresh, organic berries and nearly every time I check this section of fruits at Harris Teeter, they have multiple packages with moldy fruit in them. If I go to Whole Foods, this isn't the case. I grant you, Whole Foods is a more upscale supermarket, BUT Harris Teeter and Whole Foods charge the same prices for their organic berries so there shouldn't be a discrepancy like that. I've also noticed that their reduced meat/poultry section is not so great, either. Often the meat/poultry smells foul or spoiled. Kroger's reduced meat and poultry section doesn't, which is interesting since they are a step down from Harris Teeter. Though this Harris Teeter can have some great deals and their staff are super attentive and friendly, it is bothersome to go into my "neighborhood" supermarket and continually see that they are holding onto certain items for too long in an attempt to sell them. I am often forced to buy my berries elsewhere and this is a hassle as almost every trip I am purchasing them. Harris Teeter charges too much for certain items based on the quality you are given. read more

When we went to check out there were 2 lines open and the lanes were both backed up well into the grocery aisles. Plenty of associates were milling around not doing anything. Saw the manager walking around and she didn't do anything or even acknowledge that the lines were crazy. Must have had 6 people come back from break at once and each one avoided eye contact with the registers. Will not be shopping here again that's for sure. read more

HT is the center of the universe for anyone off in search of Pretentious Food in its natural state. If you have ever needed to feed your inner food snob, this is a must stop. You don't even have to spend any money (although the nice people at HT would much prefer that you did), just entering the store and browsing can and often is enough. To put all of this Grocery Store Vibe into context, this HT exudes all of the above and more...and shares a parking lot with a Sam's Club! Yes, HT has magical powers to transform you to another alternate retail galaxy. This Harris Teeter is a bit smaller than others but still boasts the same expected goodies: Antipasto bar, Fresh Pizza, Cheese market, Fresh Bread, massive deli selection, hot food buffet, and fresh meat section that rivals a local butcher. Pharmacy as well, if you are into that sort of thing. Today I was in search of ingredients to build the perfect chili using a bean concoction that had been brewing in my slow cooker for a day or so. It needed just the perfect meat to augment, and I knew that HT would have what the chili (and I) needed. A quick 10 minute browse of the aisle found my basket filled with just the right ingredients and spices to push my gastroenterology experiments to new levels. As icing on the cake, as I was leaving, the nice young man that was checking me out (as in taking money in exchange for groceries) asked if I had a VIP card....which strangely enough I did not! Ever other visit saw HT out of the forms! No problem, he was nice enough to take my driver's license and get the ladies at Customer Service to process an application for me AND swipe the card for this purchase! I love just walking by the items in freezer cases to watch the lights come on. Lol Saw they have an Asian Hot Bar now. Wasn't sure why it wasn't fully stocked on a late Sunday morning. Harris Teeter is sort of the Cadillac of big grocery chains around here. I guess they don't have them everywhere because I was in Florida recently and I mentioned the name and the guy I was talking to me stared at me blanking before asking what Harris Teeter was. This one on VB Boulevard is the only one I've ever been to around here (there aren't that many). I don't think their produce is actually all that much better than Kroger or Farm Fresh (depending on which location you go to), but overall it's a nicer store. They're deli and prepared foods section is definitely superior. They have very good take home meals and sides that they prepare in-house. Their meat and seafood section also is better. Everything seems fresher and of higher quality. There is a perception that Harris Teeter is a lot more expensive than other chains in the area. Over time I've come to think that is overblown. They have really good sales and specials just like any other store and if you shop smart you can get good quality, have a much better shopping experience (most Food Lions make me want to seek psychiatric help) and not go overboard on your grocery bill. read more

Geez Louise - location is sooo big! But bigger isn't always better. As a place known for having plenty of samples available, we were only able to see one (melon) throughout the entire store. On the bright side, their fresh pizza department is incredible. Fast service, affordable price for a whole pie - a large one at that -, made right there in front of you - $11.99 each. And back to not such a positive note, every single cashier that was open had a slow paced, extremely long line. Oh well. read more

Love having this place across the street from our office building. Easy lunches, pizza, salad, sushi, subs, chicken, on and on and on. Daily sub deals, and a changing selection of entrees keep it from getting too boring. And the subs are pretty damn good...Cheese bread, club sub, provolone, and loaded up with veggies. Hard to beat for less then 4 bucks. Tried the sausage egg and cheese croissant for breakfast this morning (plus tomato and onion). It was good, but turned out to be a bit more than I needed for breakfast. This is only a problem because I do not stop eating if there is still food on the plate. They are wrapping up a nice remodel, and have added in a good bit of seating, which is much appreciated because I hate having to take food back to this office, I might accidentally answer my phone during my break. read more

So we come here at least 2-4 times a month to get a great subs made. When we do come here there is so many things wrong on why I don't care to come to this one for their subs or make me wanna shop. Every time we come here there is always something. I make sure I get my honey maple turkey cut for a fresh sub every time. The lady who goes by Brandi said she was going to charge us for her to walk a few steps to cut turkey for our subs really?!?!?! She told us that's their new policy & that she would have to charge us like she charged a few other customers she told us. So I knew this could NOT be right. Spoke to the manger & he told another manger to take care of it. But this isn't the 1st time we have had to talk to a manger about something more like 5-6 times. The time before that they had let out all their veggies out over night we know this cause we asked if he could replace the lettuce since it was all brown & nasty. He told us they must have let it out over night really?!?!?! That's not the only 2 things that has gone wrong there for getting a sub I can go on & on. Bottom line is they are always VERY lazy & also giving not only us a attitude for getting a sub made but people that are in line ahead of us. It's mostly the young girls who stand there & talk how hung over & tired they are & then when helping us tell us how tired & hung over they are. Best Harris teeter for getting awesome customer service when getting a sub is the one on Princess Ann Rd Just sucks when we live by this one & would hate to drive to the Princess Ann Rd one. I am vegan (no animal products what-so-ever) so I love Harris Tweeter. They sell 90% of what's on my grocery list. Organic fruits and vegetables as well as condiments. They had coconut oil, agave nectar, earth balance butter, nasoya mayonaise, amy's vegan burgers...the list goes on and on. What they need is Ener-G Egg replacer, vegan breads (including hamburger & hot dog buns), and vegan cheeses. If they carried that they would get 5 stars:) Love the store.
