But other than that I went today to go purchase some things and it smelt like fish near the meat area and I looked into one of the freezer and the meat smelt really bad and no good they put it on clearance! I got a good one for ya. I made a grocery order on Walmart.com. I used my ebt card to pay. It sent me to the ebt site and I put in my pin #. Next day I picked up my groceries, came home and checked my bank account. I had received an alert from my bank for a charge. IT WAS WALMART! Not only did it put my account in the red but I now can't pay my electric bill that is already past due. Even with the threat of my electricity being shut off, Walmart couldn't or wouldn't fix the problem. The error was made on their end and I'm going to most likely be without heat this winter. The billing dept. was no help and unsympathetic. Please be sure to remove any other forms of payment if you use Walmart.com. They don't care and you will pay the hefty price literally. read more

I really appreciate curbside delivery. No, it's not perfect but to take your frustrations out on minimum wage employees doing the best that they can is unacceptable. I am grateful for this service. This store deserves less than one star but that is the lowest rating available... horribly mismanaged, employees consist of a few energetic helpful people surrounded by hoards of lazy staff who couldn't care less about the customers!!! That is when there is adequate staff on shift which is rarely the case! Check stands are rarely open and quite often only one self checkout is open. Lines are ridiculously long most of the time as a result... And do NOT attempt to purchase alcohol! Virtually impossible to get help in the liquor jail area... last attempt took about 30 minutes with 4 separate parties waiting to spend our money! Aisles are consistently blocked by stocking crews leaving pallets of goods ( often milk or other perishables) unattended creating hazards for customers, particularly children and the elderly! Shelves are nearly always incompletely stocked and in disarray... I have told more than one manager if this store was not the only real discount grocery store in town they would be out of business and it is true... Corporate Walmart needs to step in here and fix this mess! read more

Did a pickup on 9-4 as we were leaving town camping. First they sub low carb tortillas for gluten free. They took them back. I leave. Then Nick calls and says they forgot to give me two items. I'm on the road and not going back so he says he'll give me a refund. That NEVER happened. A bottle of baileys at $25+ and a jar of queso at about $4. The charge just hit my credit card. Guess I'll have to go try to get my money back now after work. Seems like nobody is true to their word anymore. Walmart will no longer get my $1000 a month for groceries. read more

Went in 1 hour before closing and there were lots of employees and most of them were just standing around pallets talking. There was one woman actually working in the men's dept and the only contact was with the receipt checker at the door. Poor selection and shelves were empty. Looks like restocking does not occur at all during the day. read more

Still an awful place to shop. They will only have one entrance open at random times and not have a sign to indicate use other entrance!!! Unfortunately the workers aren't very helpful and if you're trying to get ANYTHING out of a locked case you have to wait 15-20 min (if you flag a worker down they always give the same snide comments well did you push the button?,Or rudely say don't have a key for that case and just walk away) no one ever wants to help! TWO check out lines are open no more the that. Most of the time only one side where self check out is open. So you go to pay and still have to wait in line to do self checkout!! Bet your butt they will check that receipt at the door though haha just hold it up and walk by they don't really care. They just like holding up the line to get out of the store!!! The garden area is an absolute joke. Anyone that works back there has no clue about anything and that's even if you can find someone. Inside garden is always a mess and mostly empty. The parking lot is trash literally there's trash everywhere and all the carts returns are always so full you usually have to just put your cart near it and hope for the best haha.The place is a joke, really sucks we don't have another option in town. read more

This Walmart recently opened up and was completely overhyped. It's an understocked, poorly run, overcrowded store, and seems to attract a lot of homeless bums as well. Staff seem to be clueless, which is expected during opening week, but not a month later. I'm going to stick with Save Mart for groceries whenever I'm up here, which isn't very often these days. While moving I had to spend the night on the mountain and woke up to a tire with a bubble on the sidewall. I called this Walmart for over 30 minutes before someone finally picked up the phone to find out they don't have a tire center. I would honestly rate this Walmart higher if they had there stocking and training together. My biggest gripes or the empty shelves and the employees who do not know anything. Shelves are always empty. It's been almost 2 months, get it together. No matter who I ask, no one in Walmart staff seems to know where anything is supposed to be. Not an educated guess either, simply an I don't know is all you get. The prices are wonderful for the area. They do not carry a single thing that a mom or pop might compete with. I'm saving 200 bucks a month on groceries shopping here and have more variety of things than we otherwise would have. Parking is simple and easy at all times and the stop lights are a needed addition. The Walmart is good for the community clearly. I just wish they would get their stuff together. read more

The two stars are for a couple/three quality employees. For some reason, management hires people with no ambition, don't reason for themselves, and walk about without any motivation other than to be there. The shelves are minimally stocked compared to the cities. The stock workers have a blank gaze. We stood in Sporting Goods, pressing the call button 5 times, and while one friend was looking elsewhere, no employee ever showed up (While perusing the minimal fishing aisles, we've seen another waiting the entire time.). When we do ask questions, they rarely have the answer. Then, at checkout, while looking up from their smart phones from time to time, they're concerned we input a top rating. "For what?" a friend wondered. If there is a employee training manual, it must be on a napkin. **Other than if absolutely needed, if we do go to a Walmart, it's when in the bigger cities, and we don't ask employees questions. I just had a wonderful Walmart experience. Brit, a kind, polite and professional young lady made quite an effort to find me another Nerf-dog-ball-throwing-stick-thingy. I bought one last week and needed another one of the same. She looked in the back, asked colleagues, got a ladder and checked up above the shelves. Yes, there shelves can empty quickly, that's what happens when you're the ONLY Walmart in town. Every other city has one every 10-15 miles, so that's a pretty unfair comparison. There's still Covid restrictions, so stop blaming the store over things that are out of their control, they are just trying to stay operational. Well, WalMart is finally in Tehachapi. Does anyone from the corporate office, the Walton family or the stores management team understand the issues that were fought over to get them here? We have been five times since opening and it gets progressively worse. Last time was two days ago and there are no eggs. None. Zero. Not a single one. I get into a conversation with another customer who asks me if its just her or are the shelves getting emptier and emptier? Nope I tell her, it looks like they are closing. An employee nearby spoke up and said its because they are not fully staffed yet. WTF!? And why not? Who's fault is that? Why aren't the employees that do work there scheduled to get the load done? Where is management? Why aren't the managers stocking the shelves? Personally, I have applied and I know a few people who have applied to receive not so much as an acknowledgement. The other customer tells me that all three of her kids were hired over a month ago but have yet to even receive info about orientation, much less be trained. The hiring center set up across the street was a waste of space and expense. We went in there twice and were told each time by the ONE PERSON sitting in there alone to apply online and we would be contacted. Really? Why was this huge space set up as a hiring and training center only to be operated by ONE PERSON? Its no wonder the store is not fully staffed. This might be a small town, but I know for a fact that there is no shortage of applicants, myself being one of them. WalMart Tehachapi has a store manager and a human resources person; perhaps corporate needs to get someone MORE QUALIFIED on a plane out here to get the place in order. If this is how you run the place in the first month, it does not have much of a future. The residents of Tehachapi have worked hard and have counted on that hard work to pay off. We have been let down. Someone needs to WAKE UP and get there backsides in gear or that new building is going to be yet another empty shell. read more

I appreciate having a Walmart store in Tehachapi and I realize that the employees are working hard. But the app is not keeping up with their stock. I've checked the app twice now and it said they had elastic in stock, I made a special trip to the store each time and there was none,I checked the app again to make sure that it just didn't sell out before I got there and it still said they had some. So today I called and asked them to check so that I wouldn't make a third wasted trip and I was told that they cannot do that. I greatly appreciate the handing out of masks at the Tehachapi Walmart, yet I observed 7 Walmart employees with their masks below their noses. This greatly reduces the safety of masks. There is far too cavalier attitude in Tehachapi about Covid, too many people ingoring safety protocals. Instead do your shopping in Antelope Valley, people are more conscientious there. read more

Unacceptably poor service, from both local and corporate organizations. I attempted to use grocery pickup for the first time, after all, it's advertised as an available convenience. I got an email saying my pickup was delayed. I would've been understanding of this-I've worked customer service, I get being unexpectedly busy. After waiting for three hours, though, and having to get to bed, I called the customer "care" number that was emailed with my confirmation. Explaining that I'm limited on time tonight, I'd like to delay the order to tomorrow. The service rep said they'll hold the order for 24 hours, but that will be before I get off work, so I ask to delay it. I'm told that I have to call the store, and oh, too bad, the grocery section is now closed, I'll have to call tomorrow. I can't do that, because I have this thing called a JOB, which is why I both have money with which to purchase groceries and would've liked conveniences like grocery pickup. The "service" rep tells me that she can do nothing, but that the order will automatically cancel and get re-shelved at 1700. Local store screwed up. Customer "care" line can't call local store or spend instructions to hold order in any way. I could've gone shopping in person today on a weekend, if I'd been notified in any meaningful timeframe, or even dealt with picking up the order tomorrow if they'd've worked with me to delay the order. Since they've failed at the basics of customer service, they've lost a potential several-hundred-dollars-a-month customer. Back to Albertsons I go. read more
