This is one of the super walmarts with a ton of stuff as well as a full on grocery store. Being it walmart, its really cheap and this is definitely where I get the bulk of my groceries. I always try to go at off hours because the parking fills up, and the lines can get really long. Still, its nothing compared to the monster lines at food max a block a way, which is why I never go there (Food Max). Its open 24/7 which is nice and it being only a few blocks from my house, its very convenient. My only real gripe with the place is their photo department. They are completely inept and I don't recommend going there. Their 1 hour photo is more like 4-5 hour photo, and they constantly play the blame game and refuse to take responsibility for their tardiness. One more thing. To save space, they have those kind of circular grocery bag systems. This is good for speeding up the checkout, but it has a big drawback, in that its very easy to forget a grocery bag. Its happened to me once or twice. You need to double check that you have everything. read more

Customer service desk is a nightmare! You will grow old in line by the time you notice. I have been there several times and the waiting is ridiculous. The cosmetic department is always a mess, and they never have enough product stocked. Always have to return 2 or 3 times to see if they finally stocked my cosmetic. read more

This store is one of those "have it don't have it" places. You look for a product you like, bought it here last week and today empty shelf. And today I needed to use the restroom and, guess what, no toilet paper in the stall, and after I had to wipe my butt with those seat cover flimsy paper things when I washed my hands after that.... no paper towels in the dispenser. I was buying halloween candy on 26 Oct at your store in Salinas on North Main, when i was standing in line at register 8 one of the fast lanes waiting patiently when one of your TSM Cassandra? had me move over to register 11, supposedly because it would be faster? So I moved over and to my surprise witnessed the three people that were behind me at register 8 get checked out and leave while I was still waiting in line at 11. Needless to say I am understandably upset that my time was wasted as such and your staff should be advised that with the holidays coming up, these types of errors will only lead to more frustration with your customers, me included. read more

NEVER, I repeat NEVER go to this Walmart. I walked the entire store, couldn't find anything remotely related to the section I was looking for and not one single employee to ask for assistance. I am now getting in my car to drive to the other Walmart on Davis where it's easy to locate items to purchase and staff are available to assist. read more

New to the area and this walmart could definitely have friendlier staff. I asked for help 3 times. The first time was to reach something and he was ok. The second was about paint and the third was at the self check-out. Those two employees look like they just hated being there. Especially the one at the self check out. I had store credit and wanted to use it and I never had used one before and I didn't see the option for it. I asked her if she could show me and she just walked up, said nothing. Pressed a button on there and walked away with a sour face. The one over at paint, just pointed and said nothing. No smile or actually any facial expression. I'm not one to rant on social media sites, but I do take my yelps seriously and I don't want anyone to be misinformed off of my reviews. As a customer service professional, I take customer care very seriously. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed to the least bit by the lack of service that my brother and I were given tonight at this Walmart location. I understand that Walmart isn't a high paying job, and the demands of the Job supersede the pay scale, but no one is making you work there. End of that rant, and onto my story. I came into this Walmart location tonight with the idea that I was going to purchase 2 fitbits for my brother and I. I was pretty excited about this and came in, in a fairly decent mood, despite my day. This was the first time I've ever been to this location, so I didn't have any pre conceived notions of bad or good services from any past encounters. I went directly to their electronics section, and seen 4 or 5 employees huddled around each other, instead of interacting with the dozen customers that were around the area. When I finally decided to ask for help, because I couldn't find the fit bit, I was "greeted" by a man named Stephen who yielded a name badge that said he's been an employee with Walmart for over 10 years. Great. This man wasn't at all helpful, nor do I think he even thought I had the money to purchase this item. He was very vague and didn't want to help us at all. The man tried to lecture me about doing my research before purchasing a Fitbit. First off, I'm almost 30 years old I don't need to be lectured about what I need to spend my money on, I do just fine for myself. All I wanted to know was where the product was and if he could get it for me so I could buy it. I guess that task was too much for him, because again, he didn't believe that I was a serious buyer. I didn't know he got to make that call. Either way, I'll never go back to this location. The store was a mess, the employees were scattered everywhere doing everything besides their jobs. This is hands down one of the worst experiences I've had at a Walmart. Stay away from this location at all cost. Save yourself the headache and go to the Target up the road. read more

This post is for those who bought an Everstart battery and it is within the warranty period. Everstart will direct you to return the battery to a Walmart store. If you don't have a receipt, the serial number on the battery will suffice. The battery will need to be tested first to make sure it's defective, but it wasn't a long wait for us. Having said that, I go to this walmart, Melissa, the cashier, had to call a customer service manager, Annette, instead of Melissa directing her to help us, which is why she was called, Melissa asks her to help with a couple that was behind us. Annette then walks to us and we explain what Everstart says, she talks to Miss Elva, or Elba, and is told we need to take it to Davis and get it tested, come back and do the exchange. Another non related customer service manager proceeds to talk to Annette, who asked her about the exchange because their system says it's not returnable and past the 90 days. I said I am exchanging it, not returning it. This customer service manager then says well we can't override it because its past the 90 days and if it were up to me I wouldn't do it. I ask her so where do you think an Everstart is to return it too. She said you have to call the manufacturer. I said the manufacturer said to return here. She said our policy is 90 days and they don't know our policy. I said so why are you selling a product that has a warranty through a manufacturer that says to exchange at a Walmart store and she said well that's their policy not ours. The 90 days is for a refund, I am looking for an exchange. Battery purchased in May 2018 and was defective. Annette then tells us to go to Davis they will test it there and it's after 6:30 PM and I asked if they are open and she said until 9. Drive to Davis Walmart and see a few guys at the automotive bay and the supervisor said they are closed. I said I need a battery tested and they sent me here. He said everything is locked up come back tomorrow morning!! Ugh!!! I call back to see if I can talk to Annette and Elva gets on the phone. She said ask to speak to a manager, you need this battery tested and its too early to close. I take the battery into the store and stop Cip, I think, and tell him the gist of it and he asks who told me to come back and I point him out. The guy ended up testing it. They said it would be an hour to test. Turned out it took about 5 and had I known they had the battery in stock here I would have gone here. Service was expedited and done with ease. So FYI, DO NOT COME HERE!! I give Elva or Elba 5 stars for willing to do the exchange, but the whole ordeal here would make the headless horseman have a headache!!! read more

The glass displays for most of their products is ridiculous! It takes forever to grab essential things and the call button doesn't do anything, you still have to chase down an employee to open them but there's only one person with the right keys. If you want to buy things in different displays be prepared to wait. Took me 20 minutes to get chapstick! read more

While in Salinas today (2/24) I went past the sign for this new location so I decided to check this out. I'd heard about this new one several times. I went in to buy a soda before heading back to Hollister. I'd also gone to the other Walmart in Salinas on this same day. As such I could see how much different the two stores are. This one has a grocery section. Surprisingly it didn't seem busy, something many expect at a Walmart on Sunday. I got in and out fine. Since I live in Hollister, I probably won't get to this location often, but I know I may just return the next time I get to Salinas, if I'm in this particular area. Glad to know it's here. read more

Well I don't know what's wrong with me I want to smack the side of my head for coming to this location in person recently. I should have read my review and known that service would have been just as bad in person as it was on the phone. I am disabled and I have days we're walking is extremely difficult with my condition. I was using one of their little Electric carts they provide was maneuvering around shopping for my little grandson with my husband and I seeing a Hispanic woman with lots of tattoos, don't get me wrong I'm not judging I have tattoos my husband has tattoos I'm just giving description so that when you go and you see her you know what I'm talking about and who she is. And any of that she works in women's clothing or at least that day she did and she was absolutely rude and unhelpful and unfriendly. I was so aggravated but I still kept my composure and I try to be friendly and ask about the dressing rooms and my husband saw that I was about to throw a fit so he took over and took my little grandson in another nice girl came and helped us and open the dressing room. Meanwhile the Hispanic lady was telling her and waving her hand toward the back of us while this employee was helping us telling her go see if those girls are still there check the I'll go see if those girls are there. And the girl told her give me a minute I'm going to open the dressing room. So she did and then took off to check on I guess someone who might be stealing I don't know. So when my husband was getting ready to take our little grandson in to try clothes on she currently told us 6 items only. My husband said no problem. We're doing one item at a time anyway. I just had to roll myself away because I was so aggravated with her attitude. And this economy be grateful you have a job for crying out loud. There's plenty of people that would want your job lady. And any event as I was willing myself around back to the little boys clothes I stop by the women's blouses and was perusing them and she could tell I was in a lot of pain and she made the comment you look like you're having a hard time. And I said yeah I am, and my back is very bad today. So I was wanting to give her another chance thinking maybe I'm being too hard on her and her personality is just a little colder but maybe she'll give some better customer service since she did acknowledge that she could tell I was in pain. I was struggling to get and reach some tops and I asked her do you mind getting me the tops and the bottom right there and before I could even finish my sentence she heard me he looked at me turned around and walked away. And I thought why am I at this location and not the one on Davis Road where I can go across to Costco and get my Costco hot dog Coke and share a pizza slice with my hubby and my little grandson? Kicking myself mentally over and over again. If you have patience and you don't care about customer service and you just want to wheel around there on your own and figure things out on your own you'll have no problem here. But if you want any form of customer service at all, you will find none. Okay wait, I have to say there was one Shining Light that I can recall. I had stopped at the Pharmacy to speak with a pharmacist and get her opinion on cough medicine for my grandson who has had a dry cough. The pharmacist whose name is Ebony was so pleasant I could not believe this wonderful woman was in the middle of the store in the pharmacy. She was so nice and funny and personable and so helpful with regards recommending a cough syrup along with using a humidifier which we were already doing and she said that was good. I just have to say if it wasn't so far the only reason I would come back to this Walmart is to use the pharmacy because it wasn't packed where you would be waiting there 6 years (sarcasm) like Rite Aid in King City. I can't say it enough about what a wonderful individual this pharmacist is. They are fortunate to have such a wonderful pharmacist it should hold a training class with her as the teacher. If they don't want to use her they need to use someone to teach CUSTOMER SERVICE! So no more Main Street Walmart from now on and win a Davis Road only. read more

HORRIBLE!! My favorite tamales/tamale lady/Maria's Maria's was kicked out and banned from shopping or even getting near that Walmart due to sales. The cause or person who caused her to go through this pain was the security who normally doesn't do his job and prefers to sit around and smoke just like all the other employees. She is a good person, funny and loving person the security takes this punishment like if she were to be stealing or doing something HORRIBLE... but she trying to make a living her tamales are far beyond delicious. Not only that but the workers are slow and seem frustrated when you ask a question the lines are long and they only have a few people working it's just not fair. read more

Got here at noon on a Saturday. Surprisingly, not busy. Electronics, foods, and housewares was devoid of people. Checking out took a bit longer then normal because there was an item price marked wrong. Went there to get just a couple of things. I needed one onion, and could not find a plastic bag anywhere to put it in. I asked a guy who was stocking vegetables, and he said they're out, and he laughed. When I got up to the check stand, they also had no bags. I looked down the line of check stands, and there were no bags anywhere. I asked about that, and I was told that "we're out" that was the only explanation. What the hell? I have read a lot about the old salinas walmart and had to agree with each and every one star rating it got. But this new walmart, is by far miles better than the old one. It is cleaner, more organized, and seems to have a higher work output per employee. I will let you know that the customers contribute to a majority of the annoying, loud, messy atmosphere in any store. And salinas has the worst walmart customers I have ever experienced. read more

My review is for Sara, the cashier. She was beyond fabulous!!! When I walked up to check out, she had finished with her last customer in line and was actually walking to the main aisle to flag down any customers who were ready. A cashier who knows the meaning of "red lining" is very difficult to find. They usually like to talk to each other while the customers bulk up in one area not knowing there are other registers open with NO waiting. Or they just stand at their register with a vacant stare hoping no one will notice them. Sara greeted me. I told her how pleased I was at her customer service (I have been a CSM at other Walmarts so I know what I'm talking about) and her red lining. She thanked me with a smile. She engaged me in conversation by asking me if I found everything and could she help me with anything else. I was so pleased at her customer service skills (which seem to be a dying art). She also told me to have a nice day. And she was also the ONLY employee who said anything to me while I was in the store, besides the lady checking receipts. The pharmacy here is a joke. Put me on hold for 20 minutes after telling me they aren't busy at the moment. I called an hour before they closed, I didn't even expect to get my prescription the same day in an hour. I was just giving her the info so I could get it next day, but she kept telling me "we close in an hour". Uhh yeah.. that means you got an hour left to do your job pal. I have asthma and It's for an inhaler. I gave her the RX # but she seemed like her mind was on closing and leaving... did not seem interested in helping me out. The thing is when you work in a pharmacy, This is not something to take lightly, because you are dealing with people's health. Extremely unprofessional. I went into Walmart for a few items. When I went to check-out the cashier did not even acknowledge me, say hello, nothing! I let her ring everything up and put things in the bags but as I was leaving, I looked at her and told her, you did not greet me, ask how I was etc. I told her the next time I go into that store and it happens again, I'm going to go look for the Store Manager. I read a lot of reviews and many complain about the Customer Service in Salinas. I'm sorry there is no excuse for bad customer service. Our money is as good as anyone else's and they should be falling all over themselves to keep our money in the stores in Salinas. Take time to tell managers when you have terrible customer service but also give a compliment to the manager when you have a good experience. Maybe employees feel we don't care because we don't say anything. Speak up people and let's get better customer service in our stores. read more
