Time for an update. This location on 2nd Street is run so much better than the South Reno location. I shop here all the time when I stay at the Grand Sierra. But now I stay in South Reno, near Mt Rose, and am "forced" to shop there (as I admit I am too lazy to drive to this better location). Quality/Quantity - Better in stock conditions. See pictures of some of the speciality items my guest requires... That your other Reno location did not have. Looking at my past pictures here, I see that you have a much better selection of sugar free items for all my guests and friends. I still prefer the sugared version, lol. Also got some inexpensive ice melts for myself. :) See picture. Also your new One Kitchen is now open; not sure if I will try, but either way it is better than a less healthy McDonalds. Atmosphere - The usual, consistent, do not expect much. If it is in stock, do not wait to buy it as it may be out of stock on your next visit and/or out of stock in your other locations. Service - Self service, so good. Well good when in stock. Price - Best prices, I never compare/check prices as they are the low cost leader (when they are in stock). This has not been my week for service at retail stores. Today, I went to Wal-Mart on East 2nd Street to buy brake light bulbs. I understand stores are combating theft by locking item in glass cabinets. Their service today, was keeping me standing for 23 minutes after pushing the service needed button on the cabinet. An automobile section employee that previously told me he did not have a security key was the one finally responding from 40 feet away... The only other item needed today was some men's Sox. I found them also locked in a glass cabinet. I pushed that help button & finally gave up after a 10 minute wait. The store was clean and orderly. Jonah, in the electronics department, was friendly and very helpful. He was the only one working and there were at least 7 customers waiting for help. He helped a gentleman with the payment of 2 televisions. Then helped him take them out and load them into his car. I was next in line. When I came to the electronics counter, nobody else was there. He started to help me and a lady made a scene and said she was next. He kept his composure. She threw such a fit that he took her next. He apologized to me and I was okay with his decision because I just wanted her to go away without any further commotion. The lady was a "Spark" driver. Overall, it was a pleasant visit, there was a huge variety of Christmas gift baskets and stocking stuffers on display as walk through the door plus all the other unique inventory. Probably the most poorly managed Walmart I have ever been to. I went in for two things, one was behind a locked case in pharmacy yet no one in the pharmacy had a key. I waited 30+ minutes for someone to open the case after 2 pages from the pharmacy and one phone call I made myself to customer service. I would have given up but I'm not from the area and I didnt know anyplace else that I could get this product. A Lead eventually came by (helping another customer and I flagged him down). He tried to open but didn't work with his app. He radioed someone who said they were too busy. The Lead was very apologetic and went to get a key to open it. From what I see, whoever is running this store cares very little about the customers and even less about its employees who look unhappy and are rude. read more

I order online deliveries. They come from the Walmart on 2nd street. Recently, they have fallen down on the job so badly that it's taken 3 to 4 days for simple things like Reynolds plastic wrap to arrive- and I've had to cancel orders and start over. Guess what? When you do that you have to wait several days for your money to be refunded. So, you have to have enough money to replace those items. They have tied my money up to the point that I had to change my store to the Pyramid Walmart. I'm a Walmart plus member. Their customer service agents are from overseas. Sometimes with accents so thick that I can't understand them. My last order took 3 phone calls after using their online chat twice. this walmart is deifnetly the worst in reno, my main issue is that everything is locked up. basically anything in the pharmacy section, even deodorant is locked up and they take FOREVER to from and assist you. no problem if the customer service is efficient but i've waited over 10 minutes for things before. it's just ridiculous and absolutely kills the shopping experience. recently every time i've come here the self check has been closed as well, which also just leads to more backup at the registers that are undermanned half the time. totally understand the stealing issue but as a shopper this store can cause an extra 10-20 minute delay in your shopping. so id just recommend going to a different store because you're wasting your time here. the parking lot is a mess, i've been approached shopping and in the parking lot multiple times by people as well which has made me super uncomfortable as a young female. i honestly just avoid this walmart, i prefer the mccarran one much more. it's a big walmart with a decently large parking lot but overall is just a hassle unless you live close. read more

I've never been so stressed out checking out in my life. I can't believe they don't take Apple Pay. I don't carry my physical credit cards or cash. The option was either go back to the car and get my husband's card or download their damn Walmart app and use their stupid Walmart pay. I was frustrated at this point and feel extremely pressured at this point with customer lining up behind me feeling impatient as well. I should've ran to the car and grab the credit card. I'm kicking myself! I wait for it to download. Can't even find the pay option. Then you wait for the QR code from the cashier. The scan it then you have to add a damn credit card info. Which luckily I have a virtual number. Then it got declined with all the correct info. WTF! I'm just trying to pay like why is it so damn hard?! Ok, my husband is texting why I'm taking so long. Adding to the stress. My heart is running 5000 mph while trying to reenter the damn credit card info. Guy behind clearly annoyed and frustrated. I scan the QR code again. And shit gets declined again. THAT'S IT. I'M DONE. You only get 2 shots BTW. Your Walmart pay is suspended if it doesn't work twice. I walked out without a single item and ruined the last day of my trip in Tahoe. Came back to the car with my husband saying why's it so damn hard to buy a friggin sled?! Long story short. I bought some tomatoes for 72 cents each. When I got to the cashier she charge me by the pound. It ended up costing more. I mentioned that the price was each and she said it was so much per pound like I don't know how to read a sign. I'm old but I'm not feeble. This a as many negative stats in the world. It took 45 minutes to get someone to unlock the deodorant. There were 6+ people at one time waiting. I asked many employees for help and everyone on them said it was not their problem. I asked for a manager and didn't get help from the person I asked. It is very sad when the security guard who doesn't even work for Walmart is more helpful than the actual employees. This is a sad example of a Walmart. There was nothing about the Walmart employees that was helpful. The one was a non Walamart employee. It's stores like this that warrant no employees and all robots. Therefore they are cheating their Customers' of their money. Today August 14, 2025, I bought Cherries that were listed at $ 2.97/Lb, and was charged $3.97/lb. when I went to customer service I was NOT believed, the clerk kept finding all kinds of excuses to not refund me the difference. She took over 25 minutes to verify the price, and when I got upset for her taking so long, it was used as an excuse against me, so she had one of her Supervisors telling me to leave, because now they are " refusing me service", for making the comment. They owed me $ for the difference in price, which they refused to refund me. IN EFFECT I FELT CHEATED OF MONEY IT WAS DUE TO ME. What a racket ! CHECK YOUR PRICES VS THE RECEIPTS. Update: 08/14/2025 The incident described above happened at 10:00 am this morning. When I went back this afternoon, I noticed the floor price, had been changed from $2.97 /lb to $ 3.97/lb. This is my Walmart store in reno. They have everything I need. Hours are great. I shop here every 3 or 4 days to get food.

I've been going to this store for 5 years and it has only gotten worse. No workers at the checkouts. No Apple Pay. Everything locked in cabinets with no employees to open. Shelves empty and not restocked. What's the point of a brick and mortar store? For over 3 weeks they had no quart mason jars on the shelf. I told multiple employees. The website said they had them so, I called to ask. A manager said they have them but they are up in a bin and she can't get them down. She said the department responsible wasn't stocking them. I used to shop here years ago and it was occasionally a little hairy, but as Walmarts go really not bad at all and I never really minded going. Reading more recent reviews I almost didn't go here and made a longer trip out instead, because they made it sound like it had since turned into Mini California with absolutely everything locked up and wild hobos roaming the aisles remembering the Night Rider when they look to the night sky and such. I'm glad I decided to at least check it out once as the bad reviews are badly exaggerated. Now, granted, I went between 6-10 am, and that's the trick for good megastore shopping experiences anywhere (even nice Targets in nice areas). But the only things I saw locked up were womens cosmetics and mens shaving stuff. Whole rest of the store was open and orderly, low traffic in the morning, no problems whatsoever. Most convenient "real" grocery and sundry store if you're staying at the GSR or downtown casinos / hotels and not driving, don't hesitate to go if that's your situation, just probably the earlier in the day the better. read more

Attention every customer that purchases products from Walmart. You should be aware that the price that's posted on the rack or on the Walmart app isn't always what rings up. I purchased $236 of tools, food and clothes. One example is a 'HyperTough Heavy Duty Steel Hose Reel', online price was $54.88 and when I rang it up, it charged me $77.00. Of course I called the young man over to fix it. That was not the only item I purchased that rang up for a higher price then what was on the shelf or online. This is a constant intentional or unintentional issue at every single Walmart I've been to. I take pictures of everything I'm buying, and yes it can take a lot of extra time but why give your hard earned money to this company for nothing. I personally don't like being ripped off! For those of you who don't know how to verify the price, look at the last four digits on the product you want and then look at the sticker on the shelf. I don't usually shop at this location but when I am in town it is easy to pop in here. It is usually crowded and the parking is not good. I am always worried that my car will get damaged. People drive fast through the lot and they can park too close to other cars so that you can't get in easily. Plus this is not the best area of town and there is plenty of loitering. The set up at this location is different that others so it is not easy to just run in and find what you are looking for. I have to traverse the whole store when I only need a couple items. The food section is somewhat the same but the rest makes no real sense on how it is arranged. I get real frustrated when I can't find the item I am looking for and I know it should be in the spot I went to. Also, I am not happy when there is not enough clerks to check you out. If I have a small amount of my own items I don't mind using the quick check but sometimes I am shopping for other people and I need separate receipts that are accurate. Many times I find that the quick check price in the system is not correct and then I have to ask the clerk there to fix it. That is time consuming and not really a quick way to check out. read more

All things considered, this Wal-Mart does a good job. The clientele, the neighborhood, and the endless line for returns without a purchase are all things that could render this location as bitter and unfriendly. (Think the former K-Mart on Oddie) However, the store is mostly clean, easy to shop, and friendly. The items that are locked up are not by choice but a byproduct of the sticky fingered people in the area. The Pharmacy is friendly and staffed with competent people. The department managers I have spoken to know their products. (If you need anything from the aspirin over to the hair gel look for the friendly smile in the yellow vest) The main self-check out is staffed by a friendly knowledgeable person as well. read more

Walmart here in Fernley, Nevada has been very disappointing not only in the selections of items which I know most places are experiencing shortages but what I've seen the last few times I have visited is that of expired foods being placed on the shelf. I've seen over the past few months some spoiled, some busted an some just down rotten stuff there. Items are placed and not rotated as newer stuff is placed in front of older stuff. From the frozen food section being empty, your gonna tell me that frozen pizzas is as hot as toilet paper lately. Hmm don't think so. I seen an employee placed thawed food back in the freezer yeah it may be okay but still. Stores should be doing the right thing an not the wrong way. The staff here is very useless as well. When asking about a product or even price matching I have a feeling that the management doesn't train for this as seeing they don't price match their own website or that's what I was told by an employee there. So by offering a cheaper price online, then to those in store your just eliminating that customer from your store. Which is dumb if you ask me. I have nothing against the age of people whom work in certain areas of the store I don't but I would hope that they would at least take the time to understand the products they are trying to sell. Now some may think I'm being a bit hard or rough on the company, no I'm telling you the truth so you can better run an have pleasant customers reviews an have customers return to your store. Just because your the only store in Fernley doesn't mean you have to treat the community where your employees live an work like garbage. I bought a sublimation printer bundle online from Walmart & on the day of delivery at almost 10p it sent a notification & said delivered & I found it strange so I jumped up & went to the door cause my door cam didn't alert me & there was nothing there. So I called & they said couldn't get a refund/replacement cause the delivery person said it was delivered & I told the representative that I have a cameras front door back door windows & my neighbor has a camera & my package was absolutely not delivered to me. & oddly this time I didn't get a pic like I always do when I order from Walmart to let you know your package is right where it suppose to be. & now I'm going at it with the credit card company cause Walmart is standing on it was delivered!!!!
