Yeah this place. Not only can you find everything you need there but you will also at times see everything that you wish you did not see. I am sure we all have heard of the site people of Wal Mart and I admit that it is a guilty pleasure that when I go I know I will see something where I should look away but feel compelled to watch still. Where else can you get your nails done, get some Subway, do your banking, prepare your taxes, wire money, all before you forget what you actually came in there for. On to my review. This WalMart I will say does an ok job of having items but what is unusual is that there is a WalMart Neighborhood market about three minutes down the street that seems to do a better job of keeping certain grocery items in stock. Don't understand it. I can find items there at the Neighborhood Market I cannot find it the this Super WalMart. The best part of this WalMart is that I will say about 90% of the time the self checkout system is working but when it goes down it goes down hard. Also, it would help that those using it actually know how to use it to keep the lines flowing as it defeats the whole purpose of a speedy checkout with the constant issues or asking "how do I do this" It is appreciated that they are trying to use technology to speed up and make the shopping process more convenient but that is only as good as the technology implemented and those willing to use it. If you need help finding something just use the app and it will point you to which aisle it is in. There seems to be more workers gathering items for online pickups than actually there to help customers who do it the old school way and actually come in the store. Plus many are too busy complaining out loud about working there to anyone willing to listen to offer assistance. I think many of us have come to accept what we will encounter here and I have had more good experiences than bad. This is especially true if you are just going to get some specific items and making an in and out trip. read more

If I could give this Walmart zero stars, I'd personally print the extra star just to throw it in the trash. I walked in for ONE thing. Just one. A simple, innocent, $3 item. Four hours later, I emerged like a survivor of a retail apocalypse--battle-scarred, dehydrated, and somehow holding a kayak, three candles that smell like sadness, and a family-sized bag of chips I didn't even want. The employees? I'm convinced they hold staff meetings in an underground bunker where the theme is "Hide and Seek: Advanced Edition." I asked one guy where the lightbulbs were and he pointed upward and said, "We got some in the ceiling," then disappeared like a retail ninja. The aisles are a maze designed by someone who hates humanity. I swear I passed the same crying baby, the same man debating toothpaste brands, and the same giant inflatable holiday decoration at least six times. I'm pretty sure I aged 3-5 years in there. Self-checkout? Absolute chaos. I scanned one item and the machine screamed at me like I was smuggling diamonds. Then it demanded "an attendant" who, of course, was nowhere to be found--probably in the bunker. By the time I checked out, the sun had set, the seasons had changed, and I questioned everything I ever believed in. I entered a customer; I left a philosopher. One star. For being open. I went into Walmart several days ago. I grabbed a few food items and alcoholic beverages. I had issues with the self check out not working and the kind young lady working at self check out helped us get to a lane where we were able to pay. I ended up selecting the "no receipt button" as I didn't think I needed it. We tried to walk out and were harassed by a loss prevention team member with a nasty attitude. She detained us citing that my alcohol items were not placed in a Walmart bag. How am I supposed to fit a 12-pack of Michelob ultra beer in a flimsy Walmart bag and why would I when the boxes have handles? I had to go back over to the kind lady at self check out and she handed me a receipt. If Walmart requires a receipt to leave the building then there should not be a "no receipt" option. I paid for all my items and the lady at self check out was standing with us the whole time due to difficulties with the self checkout process. Needless to say my hard earned money will not be spent with any Walmart again especially if this is the harassment you get as a customer who has done nothing wrong. Why would I shop at Walmart to get treated horribly, have bad prices on food and other goods and the self-check outs don't work. I do want to state that I would give 5 stars to the vision center, but not to other parts of the store. The vision center actually had great prices and kind team members and were able to help me recently. read more

What uses to be a fairly decent Wally World has now become a bottom of the barrel store with hardly any actual cashiers checking people out and half of the self-checkout registers are not even working. So what I mistakenly thought would be a quick store run turned into a jungle adventure. It's a hot summer day, but the lot isn't even crowded. I park next to a dilapidated cart rail because it's relatively close to the entrance. Unkempt! I quickly get the few items I need and head to the checkout. Two actual human being cashiers and a self-checkout line that's all the way out to the produce section of the store. Thankfully, the wait wasn't terribly long and I spent less than $20 on Gatorade, drinks and toilet paper. Will I be back? It's a toss up! read more

Nobody to help you and the people working there are on thier cell phones. Notable exceptions are the 68-year-old plus employees which are doing what they can. Theft is high in this store and the people who shop there are very rude. Just a ghetto store in general. This is one Walmart that could easily be closed up along with the one on Tidewater Dr. There are a lot of homeless in that part of Norfolk and they seem to congregate to the stores in the area. One thing that always bothers me about Walmart is when you have 20 checkout lanes but only one or 2 are open. read more

My customer service is horrible. The sales associate nor the manager tried to help me resolve my return product issue. This Walmart is only about ten minutes from my house but I will not be going back there ever I will go out of my way to go to another one. As a customer you should try to do everything in your power and beyond to make a customer satisfied and that did not happen at all. And my problem wasn't resolved, I even called Walmart help center to help with the issue. They have forever lost a customer even if they close all the rest of them I will drive to the next city or state to another Walmart. read more

I am not a big of grocery shopping - So I decided to try out the online pick up grocery method. I downloaded the app and selected every item that I wanted and paid for it and selected a pick up time with the given options. The options were all in hour increments. I picked the 6-7 time frame. I received an email stating that my order was ready for pick up at 5:48. They also messaged me letting me know that one of the items that I selected was not in stock and it let me choose my own subsitution for it right away. I arrived and checked in and my order was out within 5-10 minutes. This Walmart is absolutely horrible, even worse than the worst Walmarts I've shopped at. I decided to order an item online & pick that up to prevent an out-of-stock situation (since walmart.com showed only 3 of these items in stock). I arrived ~5 mins after receiving notification my order was ready for pickup. The scene at the store delivery area was pure chaos. People leaving because orders were taking too long 40+ minute waits). People upset because they were getting wrong items, missing items, staff were completely missing their cars (going to wrong spot #) & so not delivering, etc. I waited for over 1 hour for my order, before I finally left, after stopping a WM associate, asking where my order was & being told it was lost. I waited so long out of fear I would still get charged w/o getting my items. I finally requested a cancellation, went inside the store, saw some 18 of these items in stock (not 3 as claimed on the app), grabbed one, and went thru self-checkout in less than 10 mins. After waiting for ~1 HR for pickup. Adding insult to injury, I then received a message that I had supposedly picked-up that order, some hour after I had left. Worse, I've talked to some 4 Customer Service Reps since, and filed a BBB complaint, to try to get a refund for that order I never received. I despise this Walmart. read more

Bring back ease of checkout! It was way better and more fluid prior to the remodel and now it's just complete and utter garbage. Whoever their marketing team is that said fewer cashiers and more self check needs to be fired. Getting through the store trying to grocery shop and being unable to get down aisles because there are store shopper carts parked in the way without anyone around on top of improperly stocked shelves along with the issue of spending more time in the checkout line that wraps to the back of the store - start over. Sam Walton would be furious with the state of his stores. We should not spend more time in checkout than we do trying to shop for our families. Do NOT recommend. read more

Ughh I don't like coming here, but it's the most affordable, closest grocery store to shop for my family of 5. I just wish they open more lines. I also wish the baskets were fixed/replaced. This location is always crowded. It really doesn't matter what time you go. There is even a line in self check out. It closes at midnite. I do like the evening staff better than the day staff. They are more cordial and attentive. Thanks the skeleton crew that continues to replenish the shelves. Walmart why don't you ever have sufficient frozen veggies and especially cauliflower rice. Please order more. They section is so small and always empty Hi five on the vegan beef cru I have continue to come to this Walmart because of the convenience of the location but wow! The quality of service in this location never seems to improve. Everything is broken from the shopping carts to the instant print machine. It's quite horrible. I pray someone in corporate sees this review and tried to improve the overall quality of service, equipment, staff and products at this particular location. read more

If I could leave a negative star for this location, I would. My online grocery order got moved to this location due to issues at my typical Walmart. I waited for over two hours after they said my order was ready in the parking lot and they never came out to my car. I ended up getting in contact with customer service and they canceled my order. Then the store uncanceled it and continue to charge me and say that I could come and pick it up. I will never do a grocery order for this Walmart ever again. read more

I really can't stand going to WM...especially this one. It isn't the cleanest or most organized WM. It is always super busy and crowded because they usually only have a couple registers open. I will never understand why WM does that. That's the biggest complaint from customers...the lack of open registers. Other than that, the customer service was blah! Nothing to write home about. The staff doesn't speak when you walk through the door or when you walk out. They have the nerve to act like Costco checking your receipt when you walk out. I can't stand coming here as is. I don't want to wait all day to be rang up or to walk out the door after I pay. They need to do better! I'm being really nice by giving them 3 stars! read more

The staff are wonderful, and one in particular is one of the best staff they have, I would address her by her last name with Ms. preceding her last name if I knew it. I called Walmart at Tidewater Dr to see if it was ok to bring up for an oil change. Person on the phone said yes. (Crystal) When I got there, what I witnessed was chaos. I'm sure some of it was a lack of staffing, but it appeared that there was enough staffing to accommodate the the people that were there. Techs are helping at the counter instead of managing the back half of the business. I may not have the full story, but I've worked and managed big box retail for over 30 years, something is broken in that department and I think it management / leadership. Note: The Clerk Crystal was great. The older white gentleman walked passed me 3-4 times and never said hello or that someone will be with me shortly. That's not a staffing issue. I was in and out of this Walmart today. During previous visits, I recall both positive and negative experiences. What factors separate the two? The parking lot, stock availability/placement, interactions with employees and site cleanliness. Walmart parking lot dread is real! The preventable things? Road hazards like carts and trash in traffic lanes and parking spots. The complicated "ghetto" things? People! Folks lose their minds in there, like Black Friday madness with vehicles. Numerous times, I've picked up an item that was stocked in the wrong spot and was surprised with the wrong price at checkout. Other times, an item wasn't in stock despite it showing as available in the Walmart app. I've honestly NEVER been greeted by this location's greeter at any visit since the store opened. On the contrary, the in-store pickup folks have been rock stars, hustling to gather and secure items, saving me time (and money)! Most employees I've met have been hospitable and willing to help, if you can find them. The tire center staff have always taken thorough care of my various auto needs. Lastly, I have seen random trash and opened product packaging in various travels through the store. Let's face it, they see a ton of foot traffic and are probably doing their best to keep up. My few negative run-ins haven't prevented me from returning. Let's face it, you take the good with the bad with Walmart...and you try not to go on the weekends!!! read more

I went to the electronic department to pick up some gaming headphones. I saw the ones in the case and then proceeded to the checkout counter in electronics to have someone help me. I noticed the associate helping another person and patiently waited. I watched as he helped her with a phone and then rang her up and he noticed me standing there. He finished and then started to do something else with a phone after she left. I watched as 15 associates walked past me and some acted as if trying to act as if they never saw me. I stood there for at least 30 minutes before my son approached an associate who was so sweet and so kind and who was able to get the headphones out for me. I say all this because I can't believe the attitude throughout the store! I can't say it's just this store as my friend experienced the same type of treatment in the Walmart in Chesapeake! I will not be shopping Walmart in person or online until Walmart does something about the moral in their stores. I understand that people have bad days, but to just ignore your customers?! This Walmart shelves were empty. I asked an employee if they were going out of business? She advised me they had no stockers, cause all of them quit. Another employee told me several people quit. Walmart wonders why people don't want to work there for low pay and horrible work conditions. Pay these people & give them better working conditions or loose thousands when people can't buy what's not on the shelves. I feel sorry for the employees left there bc the can't afford to quit. Decently stocked, or at least it was easy enough to find the two or three things I was looking to purchase. One section was a little tossed over and the items weren't quite at the same place as the shelf price tags. The floors were clean, the cart corrals were empty and the one associate I walked past did acknowledge my presence. Long line to pay at the registers, of course. I go to Walmarts exclusively for Toy Hunts and the occasional small grocery shopping. I'm able to endure what most people hate about Walmart simply because I work overseas more than I am at home. And a Walmart is a welcome sight after coming from places like Djibouti Africa etc. Today I managed to score big time on some toy and collectibles, at this particular Walmart. I hated the latest Star Wars movies Force Awakens and the Last Jedi, but as an avid collector I still look out for any sales at Walmart. I found the Black Series Throne Room exclusive Kylo Ren TBS6 Series for 7 bucks, but best of all I found this Black Series Darth Vader wearable helmet for $25 bucks! Had to check in the box to make sure everything was good to go--no damage! I always wanted this helmet, but refuse to pay the retail price of $99. Another Walmart had this helmet on clearance for $74-still too steep for me. This helmet is still going for a hundred bucks online, GameStop, and Target. So I'm pretty stoked that I snagged this for cheap. Box is banged up, but the product is still intact. So Walmart of Tidewater Blvd. you get 5 stars today. read more

The make-up section in this store (amongst other things) is a complete shit show! The cameras ding every time you take a step on and within the aisles. The make-up looks like someone tried on every package. The racks are in disarray. The brands are mixed. Most items have been opened or empty. Terrible pick up experience. This was the 2nd time we ordered pick up here..and the 2nd time we waited up to and over an hr for our order, while watching several other customers pick up much larger orders with little to no wait time. 2/2 bad experiences..think a 100% failure rate is pretty sad. On a side note, the associates I ended up interacting with (both times their system couldnt even find our order) were pleasant for the most part and apologized for the excessive delay. read more
