This is my first and hopefully last 1 star review but I can't make promises. Just like this Harris Teeter location can't promise a good quality pizza. My in-laws usually goes to pick up a pizza for dinner for their Monday special. Pizza is 10 instead of 13 I believe. Never once had an issue. Maybe a little too much cheese but who doesn't like that once in a while? Tonight, on 9/29, we ordered a mushroom and cheese and this was a complete 180. My wife opens the pizza box to find 2 major problems: one, the mushrooms are one side of the pizza practically in the middle of it; and two, it had so much cheese it wasn't even cooked all the day. The whole pizza was ice cold (not lukewarm like it would be from store to home, but cold). I understand Mondays are busy and things happen, but this is insane. Only one way to improve: consistency. I have been coming to this location for years, giving this store thousands of dollars in business. I have always spoken highly of this place due to the freshness and selection of items, also the location was convenient for me. Even when others said the store was too expensive, I always recommended that they get a VIC Card to receive the best deals. I also have a Harris Teeter Rewards Mastercard. Now on to the negatives that prompted me to leave a 1-star review. The cashiers were sometimes rude to me because I shop in bulk and usually have many items. Because of this, I made it a priority to bag my own items. I also have been profiled at this store a number of times. On two separate occasions, I was told I couldn't use personal shopping carts or bags. I was also told that my personal shopping bags had to be held at the customer service desk. I use the personal shopping carts and bags because I have a physical disability. Once I realized they weren't telling white customers the same policies, I continued to use my bags and carts because I spoke up to security. Despite those instances, I still continued to shop there. However, due to an incident that occurred on the night of January 3, 2026, at around 10:20 p.m. , I will not return to this place. I have Mobile Pay in the Harris Teeter app. I knew I was buying a lot of items, so I figured it would be easier not to have to pull out my VIC Card and payment information all the time. Since it was late and I was by myself, I split my purchase up into multiple receipts, using self-checkout each time. I used this same method on November 28, 2025. Each receipt was stored in the app. The method is unconventional, but it allows me to pack items in a particular way that makes it easier for me to load into a Lyft or Uber. I was at self-checkout for the 4th and final time, ringing up the last bit of my items, when suddenly a baggage alert went off, and I waited for the cashier to clear the alert. The cashier had done this for me with no problem before; however, this time the manager came out of nowhere, looked at my cart, and accused me of stealing. She assumed I didn't ring up all my items even after I explained to her I was not finished, and I had the digital receipts in the app that show proof of purchase. She flat out refused to look at the receipts, saying I needed all paper receipts. I told her that I didn't have them because they were stored in the app. I frantically looked in my pockets and purse and found 2 of the 3 physical receipts. She said, "Well, we'll have to ring up all the items again." I told her I wanted a refund because this was discrimination. She looked at the cameras and confirmed I paid for all my bagged items. Even after confirmation, she never apologized, refused to give me a refund and instructed the cashier to ring up non bagged items. The cashier started to charge me for items I already paid for, so I requested a refund again. During this exchange, I was livid. The manager ignored my request and walked the cashier through which items to ring up. I walked out so angry and waited for my Uber. A car pulls up to pick up the cashier. The driver of the car confronts me about "getting into it" with her daughter. I told her my issue was mainly with management. She started yelling so we exchanged words before she finally drove off. The manager comes outside and mentioned how my voiced was raised while I'm telling her what I just experienced. Of course I was mad I'm waiting for Uber outside only to get confronted by a parent! My mom and I went back the following morning, talked to a manager named Susan, only for her racially profile me again and question why I went through self check out so many times. She only apologized because I mentioned it first. She flat out disregarded my racial profiling claim, upheld the other manager's actions and said it's policy. I spent $338.32 only to be treated like a thief. I'm angry and disappointed. Harris Teeter does not value loyal paying customers instead they discriminate and racially profile them. read more

I like this location and this brand but I have some issues with it: 1. Prices routinely ring up wrong when they are supposed to be on discount. I always end up having to show an employee the discount in their advertising and get it adjusted. As others have mentioned, they don't have many employees here to help you so it can be a challenge. 2. You're paying premium grocery prices on a lot of the items (basically everything not on sale) but not for a premium product or experience. You can see they are trying but it's not executing as hoped. 3. Understaffed and lines can be long. read more

Being the health nut that I am, I normally go to Whole Foods and Trader Joe's for most of my bulk food shopping. Those supermarkets are about a 30 minute drive each way, not including traffic. To my surprise I have discovered a Harris Teeter within 2 miles from my home. Only an 8 minute drive! Previously I had not been a fan of Harris Teeter. I thought that although they had some variety I felt that their prices were a bit high. Upon hearing more an more of my fitness buddies swearing by Harris Teeter I have decided to give them another shot and see what goodies I could find. As a health conscious consumer that has a small child and family members that do not care for having a healthy lifestyle. I always find myself making two totally separate shopping lists and having to go to multiple supermarkets to buy everything I need. This can be quite challenging, time consuming and down right annoying. Let's get down to the meat and potatoes shall we! Upon arriving to this Harris Teeter location I see that there is ample free parking and the supermarket is conveniently located on a strip that has a Starbucks, Moe's, ABC Liquor and a cool pizza parlor on the corner that I must check out and review! I have been to a few other Harris Teeters previously and could not find exactly what I was looking for but I think they have started to really bump their game up! The variety of Organic Produce has substantially increased.. even offering locally grown lettuces... micro greens and fresh herbs. I was pleasantly surprised with all the lovely items I found and purchased.. During my shopping adventure, the deli, food bar and seafood/ meat area was closed but I was extremely happy to know that this supermarket stays open until midnite! That is awesome! I think I will be coming here more often. The store was super clean, well organized and the staff randomly offered me assistance even when I was casually browsing. I am glad I used their assistance because they were able to guide me to find more vegan products.. In conclusion I will say that I highly reccomend this supermarket. I was very happy to see that they carried some healthy go to items and brands that I use quite often in my home. Such as Vegan Dairy products from Nature's Promise. (the best tasting and most authentic Vegan cheese). BEYOND BURGERS!!!! I would drive over 45 minutes to pick up a few packs of these. I was surprised to see not only were they one sale but the brand also carried vegan sausage links that I must try. These are the burgers used in restaurants that are the most authentic to real beef burgers. They even look medium rare when you cook them because beet juice is used to give them that juicy beefy look upon cooking. They also had cauliflower pizza crust to make your own pizzas for family movie night!!! Can you hear my enthusiasm? . Harris teeter has secured themself a new customer! I've heard of Harris Teeter for years and finally got to visit a HT during my recent vacation to Norfolk. Everyone wore masks that I could see, and this grocery is very clean and well organized -- two things I very much appreciated. The produce department seemed particularly well stocked, along with their wine and beer and cheese areas. We were able to get almost everything we needed for our week by the beach, but one issue I'd like to call out: This grocery seemed either sold out or not stocking items that it should IMO. For example, my niece needed a certain name-brand formula. But all I could find were very niche, specific types of formula, not the everyday variety. A few spices we needed could not be found, and I bought up the few last rolls of pizza dough. I maybe caught this market on a bad day -- not sure. If I lived in this area, I would definitely make return trips. read more

Grocery shopping used to be a "first world problem" chore for my wife and I but this store changed our outlook because of their: A) Selection, particularly produce, is excellent, especially when coupled with B) sales, VIC specials and coupon deals as everything under $1 doubles daily; several times a year, they double up to $2 coupons too, aka "super doubles." C) EXEMPLARY CUSTOMER SERVICE by Ryan, Alex, George and their staff that embody "caring for the customer." Anything we've needed, they always smile earnestly and reply with "my pleasure" and/or "no problem!" They even recently donated to our kids' school fundraiser! D) $8 PIZZA Mondays's & $5 ft long SUB Friday's feed our small army at regular b- quality without paying a fortune. Use the HT app to order them ahead! E) online/app grocery ordering with curbside pickup. The shared parking lot can be busy making for long hikes in the cold/rain; kudos for having reserved spaces for veterans and people with young children. On occasion, we've encountered stock deficiencies but most times, HT gladly substitutes another brand/in-stock item for the lower price. Simply informing cashiers has resulted in many worry-free price corrections from substitutions and things that just rang-up wrong. read more

The lack of any further stars is because the checkout lines always seem to be absurdly long. Their staff will go out of their way to please their customers. I've noticed that from the cashiers, to the meat department, staff stocking shelves in the aisles, and at the customer service desk. When this store first came to this area, I frequently heard that Harris Teeter is too expensive. Let me clear that up for you guys. You can find great deals in HT with their VIC specials (they have weekly and weekend VIC specials) and their generic brand prices are reasonable. Apply for the VIC card and you will also be able to enjoy their weekly "buy 2 get 3 free" or "buy one get one free" deals on certain products. Frequently, the HT cheeses are a part of the buy 2 get 3 free deals!! LET'S GIVE A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR CHEESE!! HT also doubles coupons up to $0.99 EVERY DAY! They also have their Super Doubles events frequently where coupons are double up to $2. You can't beat that. With the help of the coupons, you can frequently get products either free or at a very low price. read more

No complaints on this well lit, very clean store. The produce is on point, you can get fresh sandwiches, pizza, soup and salad bar items without worrying about if it'll taste good. The bakery and butcher area have just what I need and I simply love the weekend sales and e-Vic coupons via the app and email. If you fancy, you can build your cart and drive up to receive your groceries without getting out of the car. Plenty of parking and courteous employees. The lines can get long but they do what they can to keep the line moving. The price point here may be more than what some are used to but its worth it. The different tactic here is that the cashiers empty your shopping cart as they ring and bag. However, now that the local Farm Fresh stores are gone, I went here to get my steamed shrimp. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! I should've know something was wrong when he said it would take 12mins. It doesn't take 12 minutes to steam shrimp. $35 worth of shrimp completely over cooked and not seasoned to our request. I had to stop eating them because I couldn't get the shells off and when I did, they were like rubber. I MISS FARM FRESH! Next time I'll buy them frozen and do them at home. read more

Who let Smokes! This is by far, the nicest grocery store that I've ever been in. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with an enormous produce section. I'm from South Florida and I never heard of this store before. I was told to go here by my friend and I was definitely impressed. We need this store in Florida. The only negative experience I encountered was that their cash register lines were off the chart way too long. It took a long time to pay and get out of this store. I think if they had more self check out counters, the lines would be shorter or out more employees at the register. At this point I am only ordering food that is delivered to the door. Door delivery of groceries, for me, began in mid-March. I have shopped at Harris Teeter (mostly Ghent location) for many years and I am familiar with their pricing and go there for specifics things. I shop at seven different stores depending on what I am purchasing. I am now becoming much more familiar with shopping for delivery online and the pricing of various stores. I will not shop at Harris Teeter because during the pandemic they have inflated their pricing to the point of price gouging. In fact I may never shop at Harris Teeter again. They are taking advantage of people during this difficult time and instead of finding a balance it appears that they have chosen to line their pockets at the expense of the community. I'm so glad to finally have a Teet within a quick driving distance from work! The lunchtime options are plentiful (not to mention reasonably priced) - sub station, sup/salad bar, pizza place (Great pizza too!), sushi shop, etc. I'm really jealous that they have a trail mix bar and a fresh fruit bar. We don't have either of those at any other locations in the area. They've also got the largest produce section of the local stores, which is nicely organized and is chock full of gorgeous fresh fruits and veggies. I was impressed with the size of the wine and spirits section as well. The hubs and I often go to the Teet to seek out new beers (ie. - Left Hand Brewery, Barrel Trolley) and wines you don't often find in other stores, including Total Wine. One of my favorite things about HT is that when my husband is on deployment (or just even duty), I can go in and grab just one of something from the meat/seafood section for just one person - i.e. - fish, crab cakes, chicken, steak, hamburgers. Then I can go and grab a side from the pre-made foods or maybe some fresh veggies. Makes cooking for one a lot easier and less wasteful! Keeps me from eating crappy fast food too! With such quality in produce and fresh food options, not to mention weekly specials, Meal Deals and double coupons, this is my go-to place for groceries. read more

I can spend way more time here than I should. Big shout out to the staff at Wards Corner Harris Teeter! You guys rock! It's wonderful to actually go to a grocery store that's interested in their customers. I cannot walk by an employee here without being offered help, a sample, or even just a hello. This goes a long, long way in keeping me as a regular customer. No high turner over at this Harris Teeter, employees here recognize the regulars(and our kids!). Every visit seems to show me a new item, either from the ever expanding local selections or a spotlight on a newly carried product. Easy to follow signage shows me sales, organic items, local fare, new stuff, and their newest feature - items free from 101 yucky stuff! This may seem like a small thing but carts that have cup holders make me weirdly excited. This may come back to the length of time I can happily wander HT aisles. While I have a lot of love for the new foreign rival, Harris Teeter is my go to store for big grocery adventures. At the deli counter there were at least 5 employees. Granted they were busy but Eddy was the only one greeting and waiting on customers. He was thoughtful and considerate. Usually has great deals, well organized, fast check out lanes and good looking fresh produce; although sometimes the vegetables may not be the best selection. Parking is usually okay, although pretty full a lot of the times in the evening. I will say I've gotten heckled in the parking lot for money more that a few times but I know they don't have a lot of control over what some people choose to do outside. So I'm glad that I now have a closer HT than the one in Ghent, or the one on South Plaza, but this place is CRAZY busy. I suppose it may have been my mistake to go on a Sunday morning, but the lines were ridiculous, the aisles were jammed packed, and the staff was less than pleasant. The layout of the store is pretty similar to all the other HT's, but they seemed to have more serve your self type bars, with the salad bar, a granola/yogurt/trail mix bar, etc. That was a nice touch. My main pet peeve was that the cashier had no clue how to scan coupons or do rainchecks, so the people in line behind me were less than happy to be "stuck" behind me. Not my fault people. I also didn't like the way the manager handled the non-scanning coupons. She went through all of my bags that were already in my cart to make sure I purchased the items I had coupons for. All she had to do was scroll up on the computer screen to see the purchase history. I don't enjoy being made to feel like I'm trying to cheat the system, or like an idiot. She even told me that I did NOT purchase one of the items and told the cashier not to scan the coupon. I had to sort through all of my itmes myself just to PROVE to her that I actually DID buy the particular item. I'll drive a little further next time and save myself the headache of this store. read more

WORST pizza in Norfolk. I don't quite know how to describe it, other than to say it has a pervasive "burnt oven" taste. Whenever you visit the store, there is a haze of smoke around the oven. THEY DO NOT KEEP IT CLEAN. Cheese grease drips down into the heat and burns off, the smoke soaking into every pore of the pizza bread. Not a wood fired taste, but the foul chemical odor of a dirty oven. All of their pizza flavors have the same taste: SMOKE. The smoke is so overwhelming, you can't taste the toppings. I've never hated a pizza before, but I REVILE the pizza at this location. It will even leave your fingers smelling smokey. I wish I could give them less than 1 star. I have given them multiple chances between August 26, 2019 and today, October 21, 2019. It is always the same: dirty burnt oven. The unprofessionalism is STAGGERING. read more

I always go to Harris Teeter for certain things and let's be honest their bakery area looks delicious! So I thought I'd order my sons birthday cake from there. The original cake pictured was a no go since the person taking my order failed to mention the cake topper alone was $25 and the the price of the cake $13.99 since I only wanted that came style on a small 1/8 sheet. So I told the lady that called to confirm that I didn't wanna pay that so she said she could do a picture of SB instead of the topper to which I said ok sure! She said $7 more...never once telling me the whole cake icing would be altered. Maybe I needed to ask but the cake I got for paying $21.99 was crap! The color combo isn't even the same as the cake before....looks like a cake you just pick up....icing looks like it got no real work done to it....I'll never order a cake from here again. I've ordered so many specialty cakes for cheaper and that were done so cute from other stores. Update: I was messaged by Harris Teeter notifying me that someone would get a hold of me.
