Store is always very clean. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. I always have a great experience when I place online delivery orders. The substitute options are amazing. I love the fact that you can choose your preferred substitute. I have also had extremely seamless transaction when I did need to make a return! I have never been a regular Walmart shopper however the grocery pick up service saves me time and money. Yes, money. I order what I need and no miscellaneous items land in the cart! I don't even mind substitutions- today my dozen jumbo eggs were unavailable so they subbed with 2-18 packs of extra large eggs, at no additional cost. I also appreciate the occasional $10 of promo that comes in the mail. (I also schedule my pick up time to get me out of things..."sorry, I need to go...my groceries are ready for pick up." Clean. Helpful employees every time I visit. I usually do Walmart Online shopping and pick it up. Online pick up location is nicely marked and easy to find. Online shopping employees have always helpful and kind. This location is busy but tolerable when you find the right time to go. Parking lot is easy to drive in. I despised shopping in Walmart when I lived in Des Moines. This Walmart is different from the others. The people that shop there, the employees, the availability of items, etc... It takes a lot for me to give a rating of 2 or below. Alot!!! Walmart you managed to do it. I went in on Thursday late afternoon. The shortest lines were the self check out, so I chose to do the work myself. registers and two of those were closed. Three of us were waiting for assistance. The self check out employee was busy checking people out instead of assisting self check out. It's nice that he could help get people out, but still, if you're going to make me check out my own stuff, you need to pay attention to me. Then I couldn't buy gift cards there. I had to go wait in another line at customer service. Here is where my irritation went sky high! I wanted to by some gift cards for my employer with their credit card. I also wanted to buy one using my credit card. Nope they all have to be on one transaction. you can pay two different ways, but one transaction and one receipt. I asked pitched a semi fit and she went to talk to a manager. The manager never did come over and talk to me, the cashier reiterated that she couldn't do it. I said what if I go stand in line and buy them separate? We wouldn't let you, they all have to be purchased together. This is where I should have walked away, but I've been in this stinking Walmart for what seems hours now and I just want my work to be done. So I gave in and did it. I should have waited and went to Hy-Vee I could have gotten a hy-vee gift card and not been so irritated . There was never any explanation as to why they couldn't do them separate, I might have been ok if I had an understanding. As Walmart's go this may be the cleanest I've every been in. Well it's new so I guess it should be clean. This is where things come to a halt. The service counter is the worst. If you're going to return an item prepare for a wait. They spend just as much time helping you as they do socializing with each other and anyone returning a item. Really makes the line move at a snails pace. I really like their produce it always looks and taste great. It's about the only reason I stop in and the reason I gave them 3 not 2 stars. read more

Samantha, a custom service manager, is by far the worst person I have ever dealt with in any store ever in the history of me doing my own shopping. One time a friend had ordered me infants motrin, a fever reducer, on Walmart.com. when I came to pick up, Samantha wouldn't give it to me as pick up wasn't scheduled until the next day. It was one $7 item that my child needed as she was extremely sick. Samantha refused. We all know Walmart probably had 70 in stock at that time, she just wouldn't budge on a infants medicine. She is truly a disgusting human and I tell everyone I know to avoid this location like the plague. She is horrendous and I will never in my life forget the way she treated me, the way she spoke to me and the way she was so unwilling to help a sick baby. read more

While I was shopping alone, two teenagers decided it would be funny to harass me. They keep staring and smirking at me. Whenever I tried to approach them, they ran away, but kept following me throughout the store. It was probably a game to them, but I didn't appreciate it. (You never know what strangers might do. At best, it was an annoyance, but, at worst, who knows what they might have done.) Anyway, after about 15 minutes of this, I finally decided to report it to the staff. One of the managers, named Christian, was very helpful! He tried to find them via the in-store cameras and even offered to escort me around the store while I finished shopping. Once I reported this, I didn't see the kids anymore. They undoubtedly ran out of the store right away. But this manager's actions went a long way towards reassuring me and making me feel better (and safer) while shopping at Walmart. Thanks, Christian! read more

2/1/22 honestly I would never leave a bad report but is unbelievable I don't even know where to start. this Walmart has me heated at this point. Long story short I had went in there to get groceries around 7:45, I went to self check out and some of the items Were not in bags because it was too big to fit in the bags. the security stopped me and checked my receipt and at that time I was on the phone with my boyfriend and so when I hung up and went to go put it in my purse I seen him eye bawling my purse acting like I stole something so I told him if he wants to check it. Then replyed "no" after he Liked at the receipt then looked up the cart then looked back the receipt It was a repeated thing he didnt go though the bags. nothing. i probably stood there for at least five minutes just looking at him looking at the receipt and looking items at the cart, so I asked him if everything was okay? because your wasting my time. And he said "umm" then as I was walking away he said " just making sure you have everything in bags" but he could clearly seen that everything that could fit in the bags was bagged And everything was on the receipt. FYI there was only three things that where not bagged I understand it's is their job but he wasn't do anything but wasting me time. I understand with checking the receipt but for five minutes he wasted my time and he didn't even go though the bags. read more

Wow, I think this is the best Super Walmart in the Des Moines area. I typically go to the one by Jordan Creek Mall or Southridge Mall for convenience. This will be my other stop when I go up this area again. Nice layout and well organized. Lots of cashiers and never short on assistance. read more

I live an hour away and this is the closest Walmart. The first time I used site to store was 2 weeks before Christmas. I couldnt see the product bcause it was delivered to store since I had more shopping to do. When I got home a few days later while wrapping it had the wrong name on it and was a basketball set not a wood doll house. When I contacted Grimes Walmart Day Manager to see if the othere person had brought back my order and I coud bring hers.l was told that it wasnt there problem and I would have to call walmart.com. this was messy and the lady at the walmart.com didn't understand why I was calling them. By the time I got a return lable it was almost chrisrmas. Walmart.com did send me a new order but t o the store! I opened it this time. I ended up keeping he basketball set because it was only 40.00 dollars but they charged me as if it was a doll house and thats what the return said I was returning. It was costly and walmart.com didnt care about it. I dint order for s so ome time. The next time I had ordered more items and at first glance it was all there. then I got home I was excited to s see the new oil kim k 3 in 1 iron it was over a hundred dc dollar's but another regular iron was in the box a less expensive brand. It was to late to call when I arrived home it was 11 pm. I took pics and emaile walmart.com and called the next day to the Grimes Walmart talked to a Woman Manager and was told I had to call walmart.com it was not there issue. She was extremelyt rude and I was persistent that for 1. The item came direct from store and 2. Smene obviously switched and stole the more expensive iron! I did call walmart.com who said since it was off the Grimes Walmart shelves that I had to talk to the Managment there. I explained I had and got no were. I called back the manager told her what Walmart.com said and she still was admit it wasn't there issue. But I could try and bring it in but there wasn't anything she could do. I was furious no real awnsers and I knew that hour drive and hour back would be a waste. I belive an employee stoled it. I didnt order site to store for some time after this and used delivery from Walmart.com and had no problems is much easier. I did have to use site to store for kods soccer items short notice it was a.m when I picked up and it was fast and correct. But this last time I ordered after kids Soccer game and was in Grimes area. with my three kids at 7pm school night I was he only one at pick up service counter. I always use the walmart.com app ahead of time always an hour to let hem know im on my way. The idea is so its ready when you arrive. so I push the screen for assistance nobody came. The girl next counter over had a line of people and didnt offer help or assistance. By the 4 th time I pushed for assistance and asked the customer service girl for help she had said she didnt do pick ups... it was over an hour. Eventually I seen Walmart Employees standing talking n starring outside the pick up photo n customer service area this went on for about another 30 min. By the time 4 walmart employees and the manager arrived all together it had been almost two hours. I had to explain what the check in app was.l what store pick up. That no I had already paid fo the items. What they were how big the itms were. That I get a reciept and sign one for there copy. I still can't believe how horrible it was 5 employee's one manager and nobody had a clue? I think I was am shaking I was physically so upset and tired. My poor kids didnt get home untill way after ten on a school night. There 10 9 and 7 it was hard on them to stand there as there was no chairs or benches. There cleats after games. I will never use this service again. I dont know if the employees ar on drugs but there is somthing seriosly wrong at this location. If u dare to use pick up at this store go in the a.m and open the items it will irritate them but you cant trust this location. I bought a Motorola Motog phone 3 weeks ago and it will now not accept a charge. I call the family mobile 800 number and am told to do the things I have already done as the phone itself suggests when it will not accept a charge such as reset the phone, try different outlets and even different chargers. Due to the issue as well as people reporting not being able to hear me when I speak on phone calls, I have come to the realization this is a defective phone. I have reached out to family mobile support both via phone call and online chat with no assistance. I was told I am not eligible to return or exchange the phone since it is a "new phone". When I pressed the customer service representative on this and asked to speak with a supervisor the rep disconnected the call. Why would 3 weeks after buying the phone I would not be eligible for a exchange or return? This is a total scam. I am complete dissatisfied and would not recommend this service or company to anyone. read more

Worst Wal-Mart I've been to, ever! Ladies at the photo center are no help, caught two of them talking and laughing at me behind the counter. When caught the photo machines "all of the sudden" stopped working. When asking for help, all they said was that photo machines would need to be restarted and take 45 minutes!!! 45 minutes, really!? I was visiting from out of state and this is the worse experience at a Walmart store I have received. The lady at the door did not greet or look at the door she was leaned against the wall looking the other direction. Then I was looking in the women's section and a worker stared me down for a good 3 min while I looked. She then followed me with a cart to the under garments and stared at me as I walked around. So uncomfortable. I then went to try on and she looked at me opened a door and said nothing. There were many workers standing around the fitting room area talking. This is the worst Walmart I've ever been to it is also very small for a Walmart the people at the vision center are no help I ordered glasses from them a month ago I never got them and we went in today and apparently they never ordered them! This pharmacy is the absolute worst in the area. If you like to be ignored while a technician feels she's way too important to wait on a customer.. As she types several RX's into the system, while at the computer right next to the "Drop-Off" window. Yes, I have my written RX and insurance card ready for her to just take in and say "Ok, it will be ready in..... minutes" Finally, after far too long, when she finally stopped typing and after answering a phone call, she acknowledges my presence..."I said loudly, "NO WAY, you just completely ignored me for the last 15 minutes!" Another experience was even more ridiculous but since I somehow already deleted my first typed review (ugh!).. I'll rewrite this later. But seriously, customers are their business, why would you ignore someone that long? Why did I stand there that long? I wanted to see how long it would take before she deigned to acknowledge me.
