It's in a very small strip mall on busy Atwood Ave next to an Italian deli. But walk inside and it's a neat and clean small full service pharmacy with the things you NEED for your health care needs. Rubbing alcohol, bandaids, various cold remedies and more. Some folks of a certain age may not remember this, but you actually had to go to a DRUG STORE to buy these things. So this is that drug store from your grandparent's days. They also have the old school pharmacy kitsch-sun catchers and little trinkets at the counter. But onto the good stuff -the staff. They are kind, friendly and professional. An absolute delight! They clearly had a steady flow of senior customers who are regulars and they took the time to catch up with all of them. Two of our kitties, Crazy Walter and Ignis are well up in years and have started to develop some difficulties. Crazy Walter has very high blood pressure, which isn't surprising consider what a lunatic he is and Ignis has some liver problems. Ignis became ill extremely quickly and was down to less than 6 pounds and hardly eating when the great vets at West Shore Animal Clinic in Warwick diagnosed the problem and prescribed some special medications for him. Since the meds were specially formulated we have to pick them up every month at the Compounding Specialists of Rhode Island. Besides felines they also make medications for other creature such as humans but we have only used their services for our kitties. They people working there have always been extremely professional, polite accurate and quick. Not even a scintilla of a problem or inconvenience. A pleasure to deal with people that know what they're doing and the best way to do it. Sure the meds aren't inexpensive and I doubt my wife would spend that much to keep me running but they worked great. Both of our fearsome predators are now back hard at work going about their business of trying to destroy the house. Five big meows.

The store is kind of old and not nicely remodeled, but it's large and roomy. I took time to check on their canes (prices, options, brands, etc) and they did have a good selection of them. As many other Walgreens, they have a large area for paper goods, snacks, health and beauty, vitamins, OTC items, etc. I kept running into this nice lady and she was always very pleasant and friendly, greeting me with a hello and a smile every time. My dog suffers from seizures And and also suffers from a collapsing trachea which causes her to cough. Both of these conditions are treated with medicine three times a day that have to be filled by a compounding pharmacy. On Tuesday the 15th I reached out to the vet for a refill on my dogs SEIZURE medicine. They called in her prescription to the pharmacy. They usually tell me it will be 24 hours so I waited until the 17th and went in to try and pick it up. Told them I was there for her seizure medicine, they explained to me they didn't have anything ready for her. The woman working the front went to the back and got the owner who proceeded to tell me it was too early to fill, that prescription was filled on the 31st and they can't fill this until the 25th at the earliest... while they are telling me this I'm calling my vet because they are telling me they never received the message from the vet and want a copy of the prescription faxed over. My vet is telling me what they are saying makes 0 sense because her seizure medicine is not a controlled substance and the vet gave the prescription so they should fill. Whatever I leave and the vet said they faxed over the Prescription. The vet and I are both thinking maybe it's some sort of new policy or something. I get home and look at her bottles and they of course, the pharmacy, made a mistake and were looking at her cough medicine and the date they gave us is the date her cough medicine was last filled and that's why they wouldn't fill it. So I call the next morning and speak to THE SAME WOMAN who ADMITTED she made a mistake and was looking at the wrong medicine! They tell me they still haven't received the fax, because their fax machine is having issues... so I once again have to call the vet and they get the prescription filled finally. You can see in my call log the multiple calls to the vet and pharmacy. The missed call also had a voicemail attached where they call to tell me her seizure medicine is ready for pick up! Fast forward to yesterday..... my dogs cough medicine is due for refill.... The owner straight up accuses me trying to get her medicine filled too many times in one month after HIS mistake.... I have all the evidence proving it was his mistake. He clearly should be able to go into his computer system and look and see I picked up her SEIZURE medicine on 08/18 but he just repeatedly kept accusing me of trying to pick up a controlled substance too many times in a month even though it was their mistake and I never tried to fill this medicine other than when it was prescribed. He was even giving me incorrect dates. I understand being cautious but to accuse someone when you made the mistake and to lie to my face and tell me your computer system says I picked up the cough medicine and that you don't have a blonde with glasses that works there is absurd (she's the one who admitted to me she made the mistake the first time). I will never step foot in that place again. I have the best vet ever who would never prescribe me more medicine than what my dog needs either, so I wouldn't even get this script twice in a month. I'm just absolutely disgusted with the way I was treated. You called me a liar and told me I was wrong. You can almost never reach the pharmacy on the phone at night. When I need a refill, Walgreens always says we'll contact your doctor but they never do. I have to contact the doctor myself. I have been faithful...for years...to CVS. As I was reading my kids their bed time story, I was…read morethinking...why...why CVS for so very long? Wall-to-wall carpet. Seems odd but that is the answer, friend. Every CVS that I walk into is carpeted. And quiet. And soothing. Odd because I can't stand wall-to-wall in my own home. Our hardwoods are torn to shreds but I will not staple down the poly fibers. But I think about other pharmacies and they all pretty much have the shiny tile squares that clickety-clack when you walk on them. Never knowing when they've been last polished, you gotta be careful your leather botton kicks don't slip. But CVS? No worries. Your heels are safely cradled in the soft carpet caress. And shiny tile squares remind me of cafeterias and hospitals...and...um...not so soothing thoughts. I especially like this location. They have a drive-up pharmacy and a tricked out photo lab with multiple scanners and one hour photo service. The store is always well-stocked, clean and neat. The in-store staff is terrific both at the front and at the pharmacy. Up front, they launch a code red type announcement if there are more than two people in line. Yeah - you know my time is valuable. Nice. The pharmacy staff churns out the prescriptions in record time and the actual pharmacist will walk out to help out with medicinal inquiries. The pharmacy calls now get routed to a call center, not the actual pharmacy. This annoys me because sometimes I want to talk to one of the pharmacists that I know. Knocks the star down a notch from being the total five star pharmacy wonder. The parking is easy. Location is convenient. Staff friendly. Carpet on the floor. Guess that covers it!

I thought that was weird and it was. The prescription was never run through my insurance, that copay was made up by the pharmacist because he did not like the reimbursement. I will just say that this 100% illegal. They have a contract with my insurance company, regardless of the reimbursement. Meaning they are obligated to fill my prescription at whatever cost to them. I am going to be refilling my prescription in a few weeks, we will see how much the guy behind the counter "thinks" he's going to charge me. I have zero problem reporting them to the board of pharmacy and Blue Cross.
