I'm a Walmart addict, mainly because I like cheap-ish stuff and they USUALLY have what I'm looking for. I pretty much know the store like the back of my hand, so I don't require much help from the staff -- (not like they acknowledge my existence when I'm there anyway). However, the few times that I have required assistance... well..... it's pretty much always ended in me cursing that employee out. Just one of my more recent instances: The day after Christmas, I went in to get a case for my new phone. After scouring the aisle for almost 15 minutes and not seeing the particular case I wanted (otterbox defender series for iphone 6 plus), I asked a staff member who was leaning against a display case if they had it in stock (she seemed to be middle eastern. Pretty sure her name started with a D, had a U and an I in there somewhere too lol) . Her reply was to not even look at me, but just lift up her arm and point with her pen down to the far end of the aisle. I glanced down the aisle and said "Nooooo, those are the samsung galaxy cases, I need the iphone case which I don't see here". She then grunted and again pointed with her pen to the iphone cases behind us. Since this woman was obviously not advanced mentally, I decided to explain AGAIN that I did NOT SEE THE FREAKING iPHONE 6+ DEFENDER CASE OUT THERE AND I WOULD APPRECIATE IF SHE COULD CHECK AND LET ME KNOW IF THEY WERE IN STORE OR NOT. That finally got her to speak. Still leaning against her beloved display case, she pointed to a phone case a few feet away with her pen and said "This one". I couldn't tell what she was pointing at since everything was like 5 feet away. I asked which one she was pointing at and she said "that one next to that one". -- WTF? Basically, I was a little annoyed at this point...... I told her I didn't know what the (expletive) she was pointing at and I would (expletive) appreciate if she would move from her (expletive) display case, and do her (expletive) job so that we could both be on our (expletive) way. Turns out she was pointing to a sparkly pink studded 11 dollar case that was for the iphone 4s. I had had enough so after spitting a few more choice words her way, I stormed off and asked another electronic department member if they had the cases in stock. The other member's informative, extremely detailed and welcoming response when I asked if they had the cases?..... "No" then brushing past me with no further info as to if/when they'll be getting them in store. Now, I'm obviously not the only one who thinks a lot of their employees are completely incompetent, so I don't really get why management doesn't DO something about it?!? --- [Not everyone in that store sucks. I've come in contact with some super friendly employees ( & not that this is about race, but mainly the black people lol)] Another thing - the self check out lanes are NEVVVVER functioning correctly and most of the time, then can only get them to accept cards. Whenever I use them, there's always a problem and I have to stand there and hopelessly glance around for a few minutes until an employee wanders by and I'm able to ask for help since there is never an attendant there. I get that it's Walmart, but seriously.... get it together. hopefully the new one opening off of 606 won't be as big of a cluster-f as this one is. read more

I love this location because it's not as crowded as the Fair Lakes location. They don't have as many options in stock as the one in F.L. but I still do the same damage in here. I mean, you can't walk into any Walmart for a couple of things and end up spending $20 more than you wanted to! Even though it's smaller, it has all your basic needs and supplies. I usually come for the food just because it's much cheaper than Giant or Safeway. Staff is very helpful and friendly. It's clean, easy to get around and organized. There is a subway inside which I've never been so I'm not sure how good it is. Great place to go to if you don't want to be in that Fair Lakes craziness! read more

I bought a pair of frozen shoes for my toddler for 14.99 and I had to return them because the shoes are different sizes. I had my receipt with me and I purchased it from Dulles location yesterday but the costumer service man on this Chantilly location only refunded me 9.99. His excuse was because it is from another location. I told him that is not correct and he kept insisting that is the price that I paid. I went to get the same shoe to show him that he refunded me the wrong amount but he wasn't there anymore and there was 2 ladies just trying to get rid of me, keep making sorry excuses. Saying the item I returned was cheaper because they r different sizes of shoes, that Dulles store has different price yadda yadda. I had the receipt that showed the correct amount. Saturday November 23 8:40 pm costumer service crew sucks. That 9.99 charge on my receipt that you are trying to refund me for the pair of shoes is for the frozen water bottle. I know it was near costumer service closing time but cmon do your job. Don't just pick a random item on the receipt to refund. Do your job correctly. I just didn't want to argue with them in front of my toddler and they turned off the lights without resolving the issue. read more

This store is so one of the worst I have been too. I cringe every time I have had to go here and refuse to go here after my last experience. I had bought some meat and the cashier asked me to pick it up and bag it myself, I wouldnt have cared if she had done the same with the man in front of me checking out. She seemed to be ok bagging his meat but it became a problem with me. I understand she might be vegetarian but then dont work at the register in a store that sells meat, if you dont want to touch it thats fine, call someone else to come bag it. Customer service is complete trash here, the cashiers are rude, if you dont like your job then quit. Im a paying customer and im not going to bag my own groceries. This lady seemed to be a front end supervisor or manager, I have also filed a complaint to corporate. Walmart is not a place I would usually spend my time writing a review. The following is what I sent to Walmart about my visit today. I visited your store in Chantilly, Va today. Store # 05969. When I visit a Walmart, I do not expect poor service, but I also do not expect exceptional service. Good is what I expect. Today I had exceptional service. Good enough that I have already told 4 people and by the end of the week, I would expect too have told at least 20 more friends and coworkers. My visit was to pick up a list of items for a recipe. My first stop was the produce section. I did not know the persons name that I would soon interact with until leaving the store and speaking with the manager. Her name was Vivi. First good thing - she noticed I was looking for something that I could not find. She asked what I was looking for. My response was "shallots". Again my expectation was she might not know what I was talking about. She apologized that currently they did not have them available and that they usually do. I was satisfied with this response. About 6 minutes later as I continued to shop and was in a different area of the store, Vivi came looking for me with a bag of shallots. She said they thought they should of had them in stock and went an asked someone else. "Exceptional" is the fact she cared enough to ask someone else and then actually searched me out in the store and handed them to me. This is an experience I would expect out of Wegmans. I own a small business and would hire this person as a customer service agent. When I spoke to the manager. I think his name was Al. He said she speaks 7 languages. WOW! For those of us who would still like to shop in the store, conditions have become deplorable in the Montgomery, AL Chantilly location. There was only one cashier open yesterday. There were two open Monday. I do not want to use self checkout when I have a full buggy. There are very large contraptions in the aisles with employees doing the shopping for online pickup customers. The employees are not courteous to in-store customers nor do they bother to move an inch if you need something from the section they are blocking. We will most likely take ur shopping elsewhere. read more

FIX YOUR ASSISTANCE! This is a great Walmart and I've been going to Walmart for months but their assistance over the phone at this location is the biggest joke I've ever heard. I got hung up on the first time, got put on hold and was told to "call back in bout a minute" after she didn't know my answer the second time, then when I called back in 10 minutes my third time the same person had nothing to say except "hold on" about 20 times before she randomly introduced herself to me for the fourth time thinking I was a new person on thein which case it was just humorous to me how bad this was going for a simple question. I'm regular customer to this location. Staff are extremely slow and very poor customer service. I stayed in a line for almost half an hour waiting and there is one customer a head of me with an electronic gift card insisting to get his $5 discount. This location is off of 28, but it's kind of tucked back behind a bunch of fast food restaurants and next to the Dulles Expo Center. I like that it's tucked back because I think a lot of people don't know that it's there which means that it's never crowded. I came here on Black Friday, but later in the day, and it wasn't crowded at all and they still had a lot of things on sale and available. I love that I can walk through the store and not feel like I'm bumping in to people. My only complaint is that the aisles are very narrow, like it's almost impossible for 2 carts to pass in the aisle. It seems like a poor setup and something that they could fix. read more

If I could give NO star, I WOULD. In November 1st 2012 (yes, your eyes are right... Im telling my experience that happened THREE YEARS AGO), I bought halloween costume and it was on sale. It was too small for my son. So couple days later I came back to do the return. The staff (I have her name) refused to grant the return with excuse 'we don't take seasonal items return' eventho I had the receipt with me. I said to her I never knew that kind of return policy, and asked her where in writing the return policy was. She kept saying i was not allowed to return it in VERY RUDE way. I went home and contacted Walmart via twitter. They CLEARLY mentioned there is no exception for seasonal item in their return policy. I was so mad and went back to Chantilly Walmart, and the same staff who refused my return was there. I told her about what I did and she was just quite. She couldn't deny it but she's also didn't say anything. She wasn't even sorry about what happened. Her face wasn't happy but she wasn't sorry of what she did. Really, WALMART??? REALLY??? This is not the first time I got problems with Walmart. For such a BIG company, they care less about their customer service. What a shame. read more

Walmart...I'm not saying that I expect GREAT customer service from any Walmart branch, I mean come on, it is Walmart-cheap. However, this particular Walmart REALLY (see how I capitalized the "really?") needs help in the customer service department. Or etiquette from their employees to their customers. My first incident occurred about a few weeks ago, I was looking for a box fan, thinking Walmart would have this I drove 15 minutes out of my way to get it. After wandering around the store for about 10 minutes looking for a box fan, I finally gave up and approached the closest Worker I could spot. I see an old Indian man working on stock, I ask him if he can just point to where the box fans would be, he told me he just started working there, and that he didn't know where things were at. I wasn't mad, since I know it can be intimidating. He was nice and asked the closest representative HE could find. This one however had a HUGE chip on his shoulder. He was truly Arrogant. I felt bad for the nice man who was trying to help me out. After all that Guess what? They didn't have a BOX FAN...like what? You're Walmart, you're supposed to have everything. I thanked the old Indian man and made my way to Target.... My second incident was about 8 days ago. My fiancé and I came here to do some Sunday grocery shopping. There was this huge beast of a looking man working on the fruit, he had just an "ehhh.." Attitude about him. I waited for him to finish putting all the fruit to where they belonged and when I thought he was done I went ahead to grab the fruit I wanted. But wait, I was body blocked by this asshole. He didn't apologize, or even acknowledge my presence. "Don't mind me." I told him as I moved around this massive gorilla. I grabbed my fruit and mumbled a few curse words to him under my breath. He was seriously rude. -.-not okay, Walmart! Your whole company needs to teach ALL your employees about customer service and etiquette. For a Wal-Mart it is definitely 5 stars! *always close parking when I go *not half as crowded as Fair Lakes Walmart *I am never more than 3+ behind in a line to check out *they have self checkout *the staff is always friendly to me (some commented on this), granted, I go in with a smile as well, if you go in with a frown don't expect flowers! *as I am browsing around I almost always get at least one person ask if I need help or simply if I am having a good day *selection is greater than most Walmarts, they even have fabric, big plus for me! *It is just under 2 years old so the facility is still pretty nice...for a Walmart! Like any Walmart, prices are great, you can find all you basics and a bit more, just don't expect fancy organics and what-not! That being said, my days off are during the week, so I judge mostly the Wed shopping (which is still insane in others such as Fair Lakes). read more

Was happy when this Walmart opened. Finally something close to south riding. 3 stars only because I love Walmart just not this one. Aisle are very narrow, some areas your cart is not able to fit. Employees are constantly blocking the aisle then when you ask them to move they give you a dirty look. I feel that this Walmart does not carry as many items as the sterling Walmart. Not enough cashiers, I was there yesterday and was stuck behind an employee purchasing items, this took forever because the employee kept on telling the cashier, no it's cheaper you have to price override, in which the cashier did. I wonder if I was able to name my own price to for the items I bought. I would think a manger should be ringing up the employee. read more

THIS PLACE IS THE WORST WAL MART IVE EVER BEEN TO. here's my story I am from California just moved to Virginia a month ago and I used to be a cashier for a Walmart in the city of Chino. so I know the rules. came here with my roommate to buy vegetables and I decided to go to my app on my phone and open the "flip" app which shows which stores sell the cheapest items so I pulled up prices for each items I was gonna buy (green beans, 10LB bag of potatoes, tomatoes on a vine, yellow and green squash) and walking in I already knew I was gonna have a problem price matching considering none of the workers know English at all. so I proceed to check out and the Asian lady cashier is already having a problem trying to assist the price match while i have my adds ready to show kept asking what store this and that. then she calls a manager over and his badge says "store manager" so I was thinking he was gonna properly input the price match and he starts rambling that "wal Marts price" was lower. the cashier said she was "new" and I couldn't even understand her mumbling. I had a 10pound bag of potatoes and my add said 2/3.00$ and since the add didn't say any "brand" they couldn't do it. basically they "couldn't" price match anything and I stopped trying because I knew he wasn't gonna approve anything and the cashier was too scared since he was the "boss" SERIOUSLY ?! What a rude dumb lousy excuse of a store manager. I used to work for walmart and we had to price match items even if the customers didn't bring their adds!!! fuck this place. I'm sorry, but this is the worst Walmart I have ever been to! You enter the store and aren't greeted, but on the way out you have to show your receipt to make sure you're not stealing. The majority of the employees are not very friendly or helpful. The staff needs better training I guess. When something is out of stock they just put something that seems similar or that's excess from another product. There's a couple things that I've needed from there but they've been out of the two products for like 3 weeks! That's insane. It's the worst layout and so disorganized that I hate shopping there but it's the closest store to me and of course cheap. I like that there is a Wal Mart near my work and it is not extremely busy. There is good parking here. It is not quite a super center per say, it is smaller like some reviewers have mentioned. Some of the areas are tight like the hair care section is very small and cramped. But all in all it is a welcome change to the area. read more

It's Walmart. It opened last summer and I was pretty happy. Being able to get to Wally Mart without going through a stoplight definitely makes life easier for a Mommy. I have not shopped at Walmart for about three years. I know that their prices are lower than other stores on quite a few items, however, I do not want to patronize a store that makes the low prices possible by paying low wages and thus having employees who know very little about the store and cannot provide the kind of service I would like to receive when shopping. I went to Walmart today because this store showed online that they had LAVA bar soap in stock. I asked three employees where I would find the LAVA soap. They directed me to various locations like "pharmacy" but none of them had the soap. None of them had access to a computer (or maybe the knowledge) to find where the soap was displayed. The fourth employee took me to Omar at the electronics counter. Omar took me right to the LAVA soap in a location I would not have found on my own. Omar gets five stars, Walmart gets one. That averages out to 2 stars overall. read more

At 7:30 Wal-Mart reduced open check-outs to 2-lanes. People were standing in the aisles with full baskets too large for self check-out. Yellow vest standing around and no one comprehended that all these people have money they want to give Wal-Mart. No additional aisles were opened . . . People don't forget, just look at your reviews. Have you ever shopped ONLINE and found something that was only available for IN STORE PURCHASE ONLY. So I was shopping a Laptop and called this store; is supposed to be a Supercenter, and the sales associate tells me we only sell laptops under $450.
