It's an older, outdated Walmart with no noticeable fresh produce or amenities, yet somehow they consistently manage to have items that I cannot find in Newington, Cromwell or Manchester. For that reason alone, the Rocky Hill Walmart gets four stars from me. read more

I like Walmart. The biggest issue with Walmart is that the merchandise varies from locations just like the warehouse clubs. In my immediate geographic area, the two supercenters are located in Wallingford CT and in New Haven CT. Produce is not available in Hamden CT. read more

Just unbelievably awful. I almost never go in here, but I wanted to buy a video game controller and a few toiletries, so I stopped in. I went back to the electronics counter, and of course no one was working. (They have an electronic "call staff" button that doesn't do anything.) An employee was around the corner chatting with a friend. An elderly shopper came by and called to them, "Hey can you tell me where to find--". The friend said "I don't work here," then she and the employee giggled and wandered off, ignoring the elderly shopper. I remembered that GameStop is next door, so I just piled my toiletries on the electronics counter (sorry, I know that's petty) and left. I wish someone at corporate headquarters would realize that you can't run a huge store with four people, no matter how much money you're trying to save. You can't assign a kid (he seemed really young) to cover every department, and expect him to do a good job keeping the whole store going by himself for eight hours. He was rude but it's WalMart's fault for having such a nightmare of a store. read more

*** update*** Spoke with Corporate, they stated it is not their policy to ask someone with a tag on their items if they plan to purchase it. And at self check out the lady had the nerve to ask me if I planned to purchase the bag. As if they even sell telfar bags. What in the hell. These people are nuts. I actually asked for help from the same lady who thought I was stealing my own bag. These people are nuts. Below is the email sent to corporate. "An employee, didn't get her name, short with blond hair, came up to me and my daughter at the register and asked if we were going to pay for our purse that we brought into the store. A purse that is a brand name (Telfar) that Walmart does not even sell. The woman sat and watched me scan every item and then asked if I was going to ring up the pocketbook she watched me take my purse out of. At no time did she ask any other person if they were going to ring up their purses or pocketbooks. Her excuse was that it still had a tag on it. The purse has a label identification tag on it. Not a barcode tag. I was pissed and wanted to return my items, I'm currently looking at other stores to find the same items to purchase elsewhere. I don't even care if it cost more at this point. When I spoke with the manager she said it's their policy to ask when there is a tag on an item. I asked her if someone walked in with a Louis Vuitton bag that had a tag on it would she ask them if they were going to ring up their bag as well? It was not met with a valid response but apologies and it's their policy. The fact that I am a person of color, I was watched ringing out every item I had, and then asked if I was going to ring up my purse is beyond disrespectful and the insinuation that I would steal something after asking the same person for assistance is beyond disrespectful. This is one of the better Walmarts in the area. Not as hectic and chaotic as the SuperCenters, but still has a decent amount of market-type items (dairy, milk, yogurt, eggs). Relatively clean and can handle a decent amount of crowds. Avoid going during peak hours on the weekends. That's when the checkout lanes really fill up. read more

I went to Town Line Plaza, one of my favorite local shopping haunts. The produce on my list was not available at Stop and Shop. I went to Walmart to pick it up. Much to my dismay, there were three or four items ONLY in their fresh produce department. All the other Walmarts in the Greater Hartford area are Super Walmarts. This store NEEDS to UPGRADE. I browsed inthe Ladies Sportswear, and fortunately found a very versatile top ON CLEARANCE to add to my year round wardrobe. The store had a local radio station with a DJ playing on the intercom.Wierd! read more

Horrible customer service. Items & service received were unacceptable. This store is repackaging used defective items & reselling them as new then refusing to return or exchange them. On 1/26/2021 I took my elderly mother to Walmart in Rocky Hill, CT where she purchased 2 HP ink cartridges, 1 color and 1 black. Cartridges were in plastic box that cashier opened; therefore, we did not notice that the 2 ink cartridge boxes were previously opened & taped shut until we got home. Both boxes had an open ink cartridge inside of them. The box for the color cartridge contained a black ink and the box for the black cartridge had an open black cartridge without the safety tape tab on it. It was obvious that both cartridges were used. I immediately returned back to Walmart customer service where the employees had horrible customer service skills. They refused to return or exchange the items and offered no assistance whatsoever and even accused me of using the ink & trying to return the empties. Took almost 1/2 hr before a "manager" came & All he said was we can't do anything & walked away. Both my mother & I are long time customers of Walmart & treatment we received was completely offensive & unacceptable. I contacted 1-800-WALMART to report incident and was told ticket would be escalated to AP but to this date I have not received a call back. Individuals dealt with at store included Olivera, Murveta, Samira & Kensley the "coach". I want this issue resolved ASAP & individuals reprimanded & trained on proper customer service. read more

It's Walmart. It's not pretty, it's poorly organized, but darn it, the prices are good! As a head's up, milk is a "loss leader" at this particular location. It's the only store around that I can still get a gallon of milk for just under $2 (everywhere else it's closer to $4-$5). If you know the unit prices on what you want to get, you can usually find excellent prices here. Please don't expect anything from the staff, they are overworked and underpaid to begin with. Be prepared to hunt for your own goods and you will not be disappointed. read more

Well, the Rocky Hill Walmart gets a solid 3 star rating from me. It's better than the Hartford and Manchester Walmart locations, but not as nice as Cromwell's. It's small, but usually clean. The Christmas section here is always very nice, and I got quite a bit of clearance stuff tonight that I'm very pleased with. Good Walmart to run into for candy or some last minute eggs, but they don't have a fresh produce section, and their freezer section is tiny. read more

Disgusted with this place. Bought two philips sonicare for my sister. She got two on her own. After moving I lost the receipt but was clearly within 90 day return period. They said the would pay me in store credit for the lowest sale price. They offered me EIGHT DOLLARS! Like a sonicare has EVER been on sale for eight dollars! They're a bunch of crooks. Not impressed, but a much better shopping experience than the Walmart in Manchester. I honestly only stop in this Walmart to use the Redbox. The shelves are always a mess and you can't really get much help if you were looking for it. They do have a grocery/freezer section. Tiny Walmart! Possibly the smallest I've ever been inside. They have better lighting and tiles on the floor unlike some stores, but customer service is not friendly, as you might expect from Walmart, where no one gets paid enough to really care that much. I am never yay a fan of WalMArt. However, for the area this is one of the nicest and cleanest. The parking is a NIGHTMARE, it seems like it is set up for an accident as it bends around the building. The front is well set up and not super congested. Customer service is far enough from the entrance that you aren't blocked coming in. No greater most of the time here which actually is really nice. They have good selection of everything you need here, so if you live in the HArtford area its worth the trip here instead of Newington or Manchester by far. read more

This is one of the smaller Walmarts around but does the trick, and is positioned in a good location. Walmarts in general are annoying to shop in for me. Walmart is a place I visit only when I know I can't find particular products elsewhere at reasonable prices. A place I try to avoid. However, last week I was forced to go. There is ample parking, however the lot is a mess. Shopping carts everywhere, customers parking like fools, etc. Upon entry of the store, I was flooded with dread. I asked a sales associate where to find what I was looking for, and he gave me a puzzled look and didn't understand what I was talking about. Okay, I'll find it myself. And I did. At a good price. In Walmart's defense- it really looks like they're attempting to maintain cleanliness at this location. Everything was well organized (this time). The lines are inexplicably long, and the patrons are loud, rowdy, and obnoxious. I don't want to judge Walmart on their customers (same as my Marshall's review), but it is mostly the clientele that keeps me from being a frequent customer at Walmart. read more

I've shopped in Walmarts all over the country, and this one is, by far, the darkest and most depressing of them all. The lighting is very poor. Store organization is mysterious. I was looking for lens cleaners in the pharmacy section of the store, and the boxes on the shelves were all open. There was something being discussed on the overhead speakers, but the discussion was in Spanish. When it came time to check out, few registers were open. The person at the checkout, though, was very helpful. Not going back to this one again. The one in Cromwell is much better. read more

I look forward to a trip to Walmart like I look forward to a colonoscopy. Maybe because I was here on a Saturday morning, but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The place seems to be relatively well organized. I think they have finally borrowed the look of Target (which I might add is superior to Walmart in every way). The merchandise was not stuffed into the aisles like I have seen at other Walmarts. The clientele even looked relatively bathed and sober. I actually had someone ask me if I needed help, and the guy checking me out looked me in the eye and said Thank You. I guess my standards have dropped so much for Walmart that this is exceptional service. Oh well. OK...so the bar is real low. 4- stars. read more

Okay, this place is a horror show if you come at 3 to 6 o clock because it is crowded and makes you feel clasterphobic through the whole store. To add on to the madness, there is 3 registers open, tops. Literally there are sometimes lines going out of the register area. Plus whenever I go there, there is a baby crying for 10 minutes. Comments: : I purchased a Quasar 32" TV on line. After 3 weeks the sound would go off and I would need to shut it off and turn it back on a few times to get it to work. (I also bought the service contract) After calling walmart.com they said no problem bring it to your local store and they will exchange it for the same one or one of equal value or get a refund. When I tried to exchange it they did not have the same one; I said no problem I'll take one of equal value. No such luck they told me that the closest one they had would be $58.00 more plus the increase for the service contract. I asked for the manager - she said that's the best we can do. it is a walmart. the parking lot isn't as big as some other big box stores, and the strip mall it is in has a bunch of weird stores (like a dentist). the parking spots out front are very spread out - lots of handicap spaces and the most cart corrals i have ever seen. inside, as expected - it is a walmart, floor plan is shallow and wide. the junk i was looking for was easy to find, and i quickly was able to depart. there is a subway (sandwich shop, not transit station) in here. store has this unique overall smell of damp coconut oil and butterfly wings with a hint of sea salt caramel. read more

Absolutely awful service. Called in to ask about the availability of a particular tablet. The first girl was rude and she put me on hold. I waited on hold for 5 minutes, then someone else picked up and asked if they could help me. I explained that I had already asked the girl for info. He said okay he'd check on it, and put me on hold. I waited another 10 minutes, then someone from the electronics department picked up and asked if they could help me. This time I just asked about the tablet directly and was put on hold for another 10 minutes at which point I hung up. Eff Walmart. read more

Terrible parking situation; not very well lit, and people walk/drive behind your car when you're trying to back out ... amazing that no one has been killed there yet. Inside the aisles are very crowded, and the signage is hard to locate making it difficult to find items. If you have a question good luck finding anyone who speaks English. Everything's rather dirty and confused; I certainly would not buy food at this location Even at the self-checkout the bags are falling off their rack or not there at all. The one in Avon is like Saks Fifth Avenue compared to this one. read more

It's nice to have a store so close that basically has whatever you might need in a pinch. But the check out experience here has to be the worst. It seems like every time I go in here there are only 3-4 registers open and about 5-6 customers in each line. Unstocked shelves, disinterested workers. Workers socialize far more than pay any attention to their jobs and it shows. The store is filthy, boxes are damaged and one wonders if the contents are also damaged. If you must shop in the area, don't waste your time here. If you do go, you will be sorry and likely leave as soon as you enter the front door. It's obvious that this store pays no attention to their customers, inventory, and facilities. I have lived in the area for years, so I am used to the dysfunctional parking lot, the bizarre setup of the entrance and flow of the plaza, and I accept it since Walmart had little to do with all of that, and zoning will not allow them much freedom to change. They have tried to fixed many of the physical problems, but the same customer service problems exist, and get worse. My wife could not find cotton balls, and was referred to the hardware section, which the clerk pointed us in the wrong direction. It is a good thing I knew where to find the cotton balls. I also find it hilarious that the "help" does not seem to hear you, but once you speak spanish they seem to have a sudden improvement in their hearing. Yes I speak a little spanish. Having said that, I seem to find what I need, and the store does look better than it has in a while, so I give 2 stars. Problem is I can get most of what I need for less on Amazon, or other retailers in the area, and I have a Costco membership which is soooo much better. Walmart is good for the emergency, or quick need, that is it. read more
