Walmart has been my favorite store to shop in just because you find just about everything you need. But if I have to rate the customer service, they need a lot of improvement. Came in looking for assistance and the employees were very clueless, and helpless not very satisfied. read more

Everything! I went to the Cromwell store to do a return. When I arrived the line at the customer service desk was long. There were two girls working the desk until another employee walked up to one of the girls and started talking to like they were on lunch break! With the line getting longer they did not care that all of us were waiting. Then both girls left and left just one girl there and the girl that she was waiting on must have been there for twenty minutes, I don't know what that could have been about! Now while all this is going on several employees went behind that desk talking laughing and did not try to call a manager to get extra help. I was in that line including getting my quick return done for 45 minutes. That was the one of the worst customer service that I have experienced. The employees on the floor are on their cell phones in the middle of the aisle and don't say excuse me for them to move! They give you a nasty look like you are bothering them! What has happened to customer service? I know the answer "THERE IS NONE!" There is only cell phone users! I could go on but I have spent enough time at this Walmart! read more

I prefer to come to this super center compared to any other in the area. Is always clean and for the most part the grocery shopping area is stocked and well organized. Pickup of my custom bakery order was a shitshow. Found the bakery easily. No one behind the counter. Waited a few minutes. Still no one. Called the store, chose the option for the bakery. Listened to the phone ring and ring and ring. Then it stopped, and on my phone switched over to "customer service", where it rang and rang and rang, then delivered the message that due to high call volume they could not take my call, please try again later, AND HUNG UP ON ME. Repeated the process. Got the same results. Opened my email, called the number in my confirmation email, wanting to cancel. Got someone right away, told him the issue. He put me on hold, came back and said that there had been a slight delay but my order should be ready in 10 minutes. How, I asked him, would it be ready in 10 minutes when THERE IS NO ONE BEHIND THE COUNTER??? Back on hold. Some guy walks up, no Walmart vest or nametag, asks if I'm waiting to pick up an order. Yes. The FedEx Passport Center in the Cromwell Walmart Supercenter is amazing. The young gentleman there guided me through the difficult process of bundling the previously completed computer printed application pages needed to to renew my passport. He knew what would work and what wouldn't. The shipping label was not complete so he helped me through the process of talking to someone in the passport office. They were able to send him the correct label and he printed it out for me. Great job! It's on the way there and when completed I can to South America for my birthday. read more

I've been going to this Walmart for years. I also usually pay my Walmart card bill there as well without issue. Normally I used to go to customer service to do it until they told me that I could pay my bill at any regular register and I was happy to hear this as it would be more convenient, so that is exactly what I started doing. With that being said, today I purchased some items and then let the register attendant know I wanted to pay on my Walmart Credit card bill. At first she said I could and then she thought I wanted to reload money onto a card. I explained to her that I only want to pay on my actual Walmart Credit Card bill, I'm not reloading anything. Apparently she was confused and called someone over equally as confused as her. I explained to him that I wanted to just make a payment on my bill. The guy was like, "you have to let us know you want to load money on your card beforehand." I told him I'm not trying to reload a money card, I'm paying my Walmart credit card bill. He proceeded to tell me it was basically the same thing and that I would need to go to customer service to do this. I then explained that I always pay my bill at the register and that customer service suggested that people do it that way so they don't have to wait in a long line. Apparently they didn't understand what I was explaining as clear as day to them and he started catching an attitude with me. So I said, you know what forget it, not worth arguing with idiotic clowns to become part of their circus so I went to another register. Guess what happened..... I paid my Walmart bill without a hitch, glitch or attitude and the girl helping me was a super pleasant sweetheart in the garden center. I tried calling the store manager Heather Guthrie but no one could seem to find her each time I called to let her know that some of the employees need customer service training and a lesson on how to take billing payments from their register/terminal. 1 Star for making customers worry. Not real happy, trying to ring this location to speak to a manager is beyond frustrating. If you have a concern and need a manager, good luck trying to get customer service to get a manager for you. I past a male employee who appeared to be sick, working in the food department. Looked like he perhaps had a cold or something. Surprisingly, my experience was quite the opposite of what I am seeing here in the review section, I went here in September and found what I needed and I found enough options to choose from. I do not have any complaints. The staff was not quick enough to come and help during an issue with self billing, but the store was crowded, so I think that is expected. read more

Placed an order for pick up, waited 30 minutes to get a notification saying my order was picked up but was never given to me. Asked a lady who was out giving orders and she had a nasty approach. Thanks to the young kid who went above and beyond to find my order. Definitely won't try it again here. read more

This is review for their Express Delivery option. I've used it several times for grocery delivery and I'm very happy. The drivers are all helpful and cheerful. Delivery is fast, and the items I ordered are selected correctly. The extra fee for express is well worth it. read more

Horrible customer service I wanted a item form the cabinet that was locked and I had to ask 6 different employees to help me but they kept saying that the manger wasn't here or he was busy. The manager has taken it upon herself to dictate store policy and closed customer service at 7:45 pm and that they would be accepting no more returns for the evening. Store police is 9 pm. She then refused to give me her name and walked away rudely. Every employee in the store covered for her and refused to give me her name. So, I get that it's annoying working retail over the holidays. I also get that it's annoying when people come in with a bunch of returns all at once. So when I went to Walmart with a bunch of stuff to return, I made sure I had all the receipts, organized it, and apologized as I approached the counter. It's easier for me to do it all at once, but I did try to make it easier for them too. The man working there was beyond dramatic and unprofessional. When he saw how much we had, he tried to have the other girl behind the counter do the returns. She refused. He then said he had Ebola, so we might want to come back after he was gone. Seriously? I try to stay non-annoyed because I know I have a lot going on. I say it could be worse, we could be disorganized or not have receipts, and he replied that yeah, it could be worse, he could have herpes. It was just way too much, if you hate it so much, don't work there. Or complain after I'm gone, because honestly, I don't want to be here either, I just want you to do your job so I can go home. Maybe I should call the CDC about your proclaimed Ebola? Then you'll find yourself quarantined, out of a job, and wishing you kept your mouth shut. Also, maybe keep your discussion on Miguel from the deli who got fired to yourself, it's not professional to discuss that in front of customers. What if I kmow Miguel? Or what if I post about it on Yelp and he reads it and sues Walmart? That's not good for anyone. This is the Walmart I usually shop at, and some of the staff are friendly and helpful, but today's experience was so utterly disgusting to me that I had to post this review. I really appreciate what the Walmart team is doing to protect customers against COVID-19. However, I have a couple of suggestions... Please make sure your employees are wearing a mask and have gloves on at the deli counter, especially while cutting lunch meat. One employee took his gloves off and operated his phone then put the same gloves back one. Also, remind your employees to wash their hands. I know these are difficult times so let's do everything we can to "Love Thy Neighbor". Lastly, I did report this issue to your manager. read more

This one was a little smaller than other ones I've been too but it had pretty much everything you would think a Super Walmart might have. So this Walmart has its pros and its cons. Pro side the bathrooms are always clean, everything is always well stocked, their Christmas section the last three years has been impressive, and I always find what I'm looking for whenever I'm here. The major downside is that they never seem to have enough people working the registers and they always back up no matter what day of the week or time, which is why I prefer to just go in and out through the garden center. Listen. I grew up in Middletown super close to the Cromwell border. I was so excited when they finally decided to renovate the Walmart in Cromwell. I had such high hopes. They were adding a grocery store too, and I was hopeful it would be like the one in Bangor ME I loved. Quickly realized my hopes were squandered. This is literally the most chaotic and difficult stores I've ever been in. I can also never find what I'm looking for in the store. Lots of the produce looks like it's been kicking around for a while and the lines. The lines! They're always insane. I've never been to a store with such long lines and so few registers open. It's mind blowing. I recently ended up in the Walmart off the Silas Deane and it was so much more organized, clean and overall more pleasant. I'd recommend that store. Or any other one. read more

I am sitting in my car right now, so angry that I'm shaking. I walked into Walmart today to pick up a few things. In the makeup aisle this woman followed me around. I didn't think too much about it but I was mildly offended because she was really starting to act suspicious of me and I know people steal makeup all the time. She was doing her job I suppose but I was also carrying nothing but a small clutch wallet, leggings and a tank top. There's almost no possible way that I could even fit anything into my clothes or bag without it being completely obvious. I felt a little bit targeted. At the self checkout line, before I had even finished scanning my items, a man came up to me and asked me if I needed help, proceeded to take the scanner and ring out my stuff. I told him I felt targeted and that the way I had been treated today was starting to really offend me. He fucked off. So then I go to the door and the person asked for my receipt. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. They literally stood over me the whole time I was checking out. I may not look my best today. My hair is in a messy bun and I don't have any makeup on. I have tattooes on my arms and the back of my neck. Just because I may look trashy doesn't mean I'm a thief. I wouldn't steal even if I was fucking starving, which by the way I am far from that. If you scroll through some of my posts, you can probably guess I'm making money, and I won't be spending it here ever again. read more

I am outraged! They were supposed to make sure people were wearing masks when they come into the store and they are not doing that at all. I just saw a whole group of kids walk right in without any masks at all. I guess Walmart doesnt care about their customers or employees at all. Any WalMart that leaves one without the impression of "Jesus, how did my life come to this?" deserves some credit. As long as you're not visiting during peak hours, this is actually a generally pleasant store to be in. It is very large, so there really is no such thing as "get in, get out." But with all the great cheap stuff they have, why be in such a rush? :) Still, they do have self checkouts here, and almost always have enough cashiers available to handle the crowds. The Newington WalMart has neither of those things, so I come here instead. Garden Center, Tire & Auto Center, Vision Center, Bank, Dunkin' Donuts. All are available inside. So you can literally get all of life's basic needs here... except surgery. read more

Let me first say that I worked for a Walmart for 7 years and I am well aware of how tyrannical the corporation is and how poorly management is trained. With that said I need to commend this Walmart for securing me as a recurring customer. PROS: 75% of the sales associates seem happy and will help without rolling their eyes if you need it. The sales floor is stocked with product and not usually out of the same item 2 shopping visits in a row. There is a deli, and a bakery, both of which I've used several times and will continue to use. The store is clean yet there are not grouchy maintenance workers around every corner blocking the aisles and yelling at customers if their kid drops a cookie. CONS: Fresh fruits and vegetables don't seem to last as long and need to be used faster before they go bad. Their front end is poorly run, like any Walmart, there are always only a few registers open, slow cashiers, and it's just a major hassle to pay at the end of the shopping experience. The pros outweigh the cons! I'm amazed and I will continue shopping here until the cons get out of control. read more

After stopping at Cromwell Walmart for basic groceries several times since my last review, I felt compelled to update my review as a caution for others who also shop at this particular Walmart for groceries due to expired food sitting on their shelves. For instance, in July, we found mayonnaise that expired back in May, and just last night (9/3), we found a milk carton sitting in the fridge that expired on August 20th! In all these cases, we brought the attention to employees, where they all handled the situation professionally and promptly to make sure that expired items were removed immediately. I am not trying to deter anyone away from the grocery area of Walmart, as I will still stop here for deli, fresh salad, etc. This store is clean and well-kept throughout. Employees have always been professional every time we come. Just make sure to check the date of your food product before you place it in your cart, no matter how much of a hurry you are in. read more

Edited to take away a star. Last few times I've been here, they've been carrying expired milk, yogurt and eggs. The quality of this store keeps getting worse and worse. I'd say that it starts from the top down, from the store manager to the assistant and store managers, down to the lazy workers. Perhaps, I should contact their corporate offices. Also, while combing through their clothes (which I rarely buy), their racks and shelves are a mess, with sizes all mixed up. This isn't a customer issue, but a lazy worker one. They see that the managers don't care, so their attitude is, "Then why should we?" Again, to anyone who shops here: Make sure you look at the labels and expiration dates before purchasing. No exaggeration: This is the messiest, most disorganized Walmart that I've ever been to, and that says a lot. The problem with this is that this a a newly-remodeled super center, maybe a little over a year old. No matter what time you come here, this place will be a mess. To make matters worse, they have tons of mobile shelves and carts haphazardly thrown all over with no rhyme or reason, so navigating through each aisle is an adventure, all in the name of greed. I don't know how many times I turned a corner, crashing into some makeshift cart of Clorox Wipes.....in the dairy isle! Or a cart of peanuts planted right next to their meats...or something as illogical as that. Another huge problem is that this store is POORLY stocked. There are plenty of bare shelves, When they run out of something, it could take weeks or a couple of months before it returns to the shelf. And I'm talking about basic things: like Campbell's Pea or chicken noodle soup. Or, 16 oz cups. The list goes on and on. It's so frustrating that I prefer shopping at their competitors in the area, who rarely run out of stock, and if they do, they quickly replenish. Somebody at this Walmart isn't communicating with corporate. The assistant managers seem disengaged and shy away from helping people. You know that look....they could be standing around doing nothing, but when it appears you're going to ask them a question, they suddenly become "busy" and walk away rather quickly. This happened a couple of times. There is this one assistant manager (overnights) who reeks of cigarettes. I must have gone during the overnight shift maybe 5-6 times, and each time he's either outside puffing away or coming in from a smoke. One time I asked him for a product that used to always be in one particular spot and it appeared as if I was bothering him. His response was, "I don't know where it is. We always order different things." Then he walked away. One of the workers caught this and told me "Never mind him; he's always like that" and proceeded to show me where the item was. She was very helpful - a middle aged African American lady with braids (in case the store manager is reading). And in case the same store manager is reading this, the above, unhelpful, smoking assistant manager is Hispanic (or Middle Eastern), with close-cropped, dark hair and unshaven. I'd say he's in the mid 30's or older. (PS: I only bring up their race so that the store manager(s) can identify them: One was very helpful (the stock lady) and went out of her way; the other (the asst mgr) seems like he doesn't want to be there). Lastly, most of the regular workers are very nice here. Too bad the environment around them stinks. read more

When I got to the register I wanted to use 2 cards for payment and the cashier fucked it all up. Then told me to go to customer service desk where there the line was out the door. The whole place was under construction. It looked like a wreck. The discounted sale area looked like the Salvation Army. I got attitude from an employee simply asking where a certain product was. I came here on Thursday night to get a few things. Almost no one was wearing a mask in the store, including some of the workers. The store was packed and there were maybe only 10 people I saw with a mask or at least attempted to wear one. I am not the type of person who is overly concerned about Covid-19 but I think stores should be enforcing the guidelines set by the state. When I asked someone who worked there if masks were required he replied "I'm not sure..I think so." I informed him (although it was obvious) most of the customers were not wearing a mask he proceeded to walk away from me. I know the workers can be overwhelmed at times because it is a busy store but no one even attempted to ask people to wear their masks or were considerate of others in the store who might be more concerned about the virus. If I could give this Walmart in Cromwell, CT 0 stars I would. The customer service is beyond ridiculous! I have called this Walmart 5 times only to be left on hold. I was trying to see if a toy item was in stock as the app was saying this location had it in stock. The reason why I called instead of just going here was because I live/work at least 30 minutes away. I didn't want to make the drive if the item wasn't in stock. I called and a woman picked up and I was placed on hold the first time waiting for someone in the toy department to answer. I waited 8 minutes. I hung out and decided to call again as I thought maybe I was forgotten. I called and told the same woman who picked up the phone that I was on hold and that no one answered from the toy department. She again placed me on hold and again I waited 13 minutes with no one picking up. I hung up again and decided to call back. I called a 3rd time and told the same woman that I was on hold and still no one picked up. She proceeded to place me on hold again and this time I waited an additional 11 minutes. So now in total I've been placed on hold 32 minutes. At this point I'm frustrated. I hang up and call back. The same woman picks up the phone and I told her I've called her 3 times and have been on hold for a total of 32 minutes with no one picking up. She told me that she paged the toy department and that she believes they are on lunch. Ok, that's fine. But my issue is why would you then leave me on hold that entire time? So I told her that if that was the case why didn't she come back and let me know that? I also told her that it is common courtesy to let a customer know this. She remained quiet. I then hung up the phone. I decided to call back and speak to management about the issue and then to see if I could finally get to speck with someone to see if the item I was looking for was in stock. So when I called back the same woman answered and I asked to speak to a manager and she placed me on hold. I was on hold for 20 minutes waiting for a manager while I was typing this. Still no answer/. I finally hung up and called a 6th time with no answer. I called a 7th time and it rang for just about 3 minues when finally someone answered. This time the woman who answered was different. I asked to speak to management and she asked me what it was in regards to. I told her if was for a complaint. I waited a few minutes and was greeted by a friendly voice. Her name was Robyn. I told Robyn what the complaint was in regards to. I was unhappy for the customer service and how my time was not considered. I wish I had the name of the woman but I didn't not get that info. Robyn apologized and agreed that I should have at least been gotten backed to instead of being left on hold for so long. So in total today I've been on hold with this Walmart for just about an hour just to see if there was a toy in stock that my daughter wants for Christmas. I understand that it is the holiday season but at some point the woman had to have seen the light flashing on the telephone where it showed that I was still on hold and could have taken her just about 10 seconds to tell me no one was answering and to possibly try back at another time. It's all about how you handle the situation and this woman did not do a good job. I'm sure if it was her on the other end of the phone, she wouldn't have been pleased either. read more

DO NOT USE THEIR GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICE. Walmart assigns a driver to each grocery order. If that driver cancels (they're all independent contractors using personal vehicles, shockingly...) your order just sits in Walmart and will never be delivered. You will not be contacted, your groceries simply will not show up. This is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous in the time of Covid, with people relying on deliveries for safety. This happened to me twice out of four deliveries in the last month. I live 4 miles from the store and cannot go into stores currently. read more

What can we expect when there is so little competition? Product selection and quality, which was reasonably good 15 years ago, has suffered dramatically. More shoddy goods from China! The grocery section is stuffed with the types of foods that have made so many Americans very unhealthy. At least the aisles are wide enough to accommodate the morbidly obese. The worst part of the Cromwell store is the check out! There are always lines from mid morning onward. In the past associates with register skills would be called to deal with the backlog. Perhaps I'm just unlucky but I haven't experienced that lately. This store is so cheap that there is only one divider to separate orders on the conveyor belt! How low can these Waltons go? I only shop for a limited range of things that are the lowest price available. The one good thing is that the number of such items has dwindled over time. What's the point of subjecting oneself to some of the creepiest people around? The last time I was in the Cromwell store an old man was bending down to talk to a small child and I had to see his half naked butt! I would rather go without something, if possible, than to shop in any Walmart store! read more

I observed one cashier in particular who looked very unkept and dirty..I would think that Walmart managers, who I just learned make an incredible 6 figure salary would address their workers appearance.
