Disgusting! From the main floor to the bathrooms. I know they are going through changes, but I actually felt dirty leaving the store. To start, the bathrooms smelled and the floor was dirty. The sink was coated with dirt and no paper towels. The main floor, the carpets were dirty and stained. The tile floor was dirty and thick dust on displays. If you are going to close down, close down with dignity. I have been a loyal Macy shopper for 30 years. Today's experience is making rethink my loyalty. read more

I had to write, based on the enormously positive experience I just had. I went to Macys for one item...a food processor that was advertised at $59.99, which was $40 off the suggested retail. I got there at about 6pm, found the item, and went right up to the counter, where the friendly sales clerk rang it up, and it registered at the higher price of $99. Armed with the sales flyer, I showed him the ad...and found out that the special price was only good until 1pm that day only. Somewhat distraught, I tried calling my better-half to see if she still wanted me to purchase it. Before I could connect, the clerk, who's name is Denardo, motioned for me to hang up...because he had gotten approval for me to buy it at the sales price. He went so far above and beyond, just for a guy who was buying one item...I left with such a positive feeling that I doubled my donation to the Salvation Army guy outside the door! Bravo Denardo, and Bravo Macys for making this shopper feel like an appreciated guest! read more

Great deals for the weekend sale. Got a great deal on an MK purse. Sales associates vary GREATLY by department. Handbags and jewelry helpful and attentive. Ladies and children's not so much. Seemed to be some sort of managers rounding the store when I was there. In their presence staff was tripping over one another to help. Unisex bathrooms on the second floor--needed some attention. I'm very impressed with the men's department. We walked in, were greeted, and within 8 mins had my husband measured and in a fitting room. He loved the suit so we bought it today, and oh what a deal we got on that new Ralph Lauren suit. In and out in under a half an hour, got the suit on the first try, and were all around impressed with our service today. We'll be back for more formal wear for him for sure. read more

This review is specifically about the Macy's Men's/Furniture store in the mall. My boyfriend was looking for a suit this week and another Macy's we went to had the right size, wrong color, not enough time to order it, get it, hem it, etc. so we went up to the Macy's Men's store at West Farms to see if we could find the right one. And we did! Two salespeople helped us find the color and size he was looking for. Initially, the suit he picked out had the wrong pair of pants with it and the salesclerk located the correct size on another pair so all was ok! Unfortunately their tailor had a very busy schedule and he wouldn't be able to get his pants hemmed in time, but the service was very nice. At checkout, not only was the suit on sale, but the woman checking us out gave us a 20% off coupon since my boyfriend used his Macy's card. Sweet deal for a nice suit. I'd recommend the service here - staff were pleasant and helpful. read more

I went here recently to see if I i could get a particular perfume sample for a friend. Nordstrom has been such a disappointment the past couple of years that I didn't want to go there. To my surprise, the Lancôme employee gave me a sample with a smile. I never liked Macy's for clothing. I could never find my size no matter what I tried on. But recently I started to browse around and found that the Junior Department has sweaters, tops, and shirts that are cut much slimmer than other sizes. I also like their recent changes with coupons. Instead of sending them out on a monthly basis they are now attached to your Macy's credit card as long as you sing up for My Wallet. It is much better than having to remember tons of coupons for every store and you don't have to worry about expiration dates. read more

Probably the worst Macy's i have ever been to. The mens dress clothing section is so unorganized and disgusting. Brands mixed with other brands and small selection of sizes. The tie section looks like its never been cleaned or organized in months. The people working there are old slow people who dont know anything. Why cant they hire a young guy to walk around and straighten everything up. This is the condition every time i come here and i am done. Meridan Macys will be my new go to. The thing about most dept stores is that your experience can be hugely different each time you visit, mostly depends on which employees are working. I've never been impressed by any sales associates in the men's suits dept. And the jackets/pants sizes are sometimes different than what reads on the hangers. Upstairs there's a dark-haired young lady who I've seen a couple times in the Men's pants section. She's friendly and gives helpful suggestions which is important because pants these days have so many different fits: slim, stretch, comfort, classic, skinny, extreme slim, etc, so it can be nice to have someone who knows what will look best on you. read more

I recently visited your fragrance department. I was approached by an older lady with glasses spraying perfume on a card. She said she was a vendor, and would like me to try her fragrance. When I told her no thank you, she proceeded chasing me through the fragrance department. Then, another woman approached me, her name tag read Mobilla, she was yelling at everyone in the store, earring a cupcake in the middle of the store. She followed me around the counter making it very uncomfortable for me. I finally just left. There are too many vendors in this department. I can't tell the difference between them and the employees. If it's like this now, I can't believe what it will be like around the holidays. Most likely, I will go get gifts elsewhere. It should not be this stressful to but something. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere. I bought my fragrance sets elsewhere. read more

I recently bought a suit a Macy's in Westfarms mall in West Hartford, CT and wish I hadn't. The sales person, Charles, seemed disinterested in helping me from the beginning but I tolerated his lack of attentiveness. I decided to buy the suit after trying it on (I was very quick in my decision). The pants were very long and clearly in need of tailoring. When I asked Charles about tailoring the length he looked at me as if it was an inconvenience so I asked him if there was a problem. His answer was something like "how would I know, some people wear their pants long." I should have walked away but didn't. I asked if I could have the suit in one week and was told I could. When I went to pick up the suit, much to my disappointment, Charles was there. After about 10 minutes I was told my suit couldn't be found. He searched and, ironically, found my pants back on the rack - it was clear they were mine because of the chalk marks for tailoring!!! I was furious and asked for a manager, which I can't remember ever doing before. Maria came out. Apologized. Offered that I be refunded the cost of tailoring and an extra 10% off my purchase price. I let her know how disgusted I was with my experience and Charles. Ironically they were able to tailor my suit in one day. I wish I'd just gotten my money back and moved on. I will never shop at Macy's in Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, CT again. ZERO STARS. read more

I used to work at this store before I graduated college. Behind the scenes is not what you see on the shopping floor. Much of the merchandise (clothes in particular) are mishandled; meaning they are often thrown about or on the floor of the stock rooms. The stock rooms are infested with mice and dirty. More than once customers urinated on the dressing room carpets in the Womens section. So for the love of God, please do not take your shoes off in the dressing rooms! Customers also leave clothes in heaps on the floor when they are done trying them on. Would you really want to buy something that was lying on the floor on a dirty carpet (that was possibly urinated on)? Employees are treated pretty crappy too, especially during the holidays. They are made to work long hours, until midnight, and then expected to be in again at 8:00am the next morning. They are not treated like people- just cash cows. I never had a problem with any of the managers, but they act like they belong at New York Fashion Week. It's Macy's people, not Chanel. After I left the job, I resolved to never shop there again. read more

I have had the worst experience with this store. My wife and I bought a bedroom set here the first week of November 2011. First they told us it would take 7-10 days for delivery, and then that turned into 2 months. They didn't deliver the furniture until the second week in January 2012. When they did deliver it, many of the pieces were damaged. We had to have them replace one of the nightstands, the mirror, one of the side boards on the bed, and the dresser. They didn't get replaced until February. When they brought them, the first three were OK, but the dresser they brought was damaged like the first one. We had to ask them to bring another. They did, and it was damaged as well. Long story short, this has continued for the last few months. They have brought 7 damaged dressers out on 7 different deliveries and it is now 5 months after we bought it, and we still don't have our dresser. The last 4 deliveries, they have been supposed to check it before it leaves the warehouse to make sure it's not damaged, and they have forgotten every time. They bring out dressers with obvious scratches and dents that anyone could see if they looked at it. Bottom line, don't buy furniture from Macy's. Get it from somewhere reputable. read more

I don't know if they are just severely understaffed but the store was a huge mess. I have placed 3 orders online since the beginning of November and all 3 have been cancelled. I have called Macy's customer service and was placed on hold for over 20 min , hung up on. Spoke on live chat and was transferred to 3 different people. The third called me to say that my information is not verified, I tried to verify the incorrect info and was told to call the credit bureau. Then I was told that I need to replace the order but if I do online I will be cancelled again. She says I can replace over the phone and wanted to transfer me again. I have never had an experience and just wasted approx an hour of my time to end up with nothing. I will never order from Macy's again. Terrible experience. read more

I have never been to Macys at Westfarms Mall. In fact, i've never even been to Connecticut. But, that didn't stop a $239.29 charge from Macys Westfarms Mall from appearing on my mastercard. Trying to contact the store was a nightmare, I never did reach a person. So instead I emailed Macys credit/fraud department. Their response? A gift card in that amount has been mailed to me and I will receive it in 7-10 days. No concern at all about how my card was used fraudulently at their store. Obviously I will never shop at Macys again. If you have an online account at Macys.com apparently you now have something called Macys Wallet which apparently allows you to use your saved cards instore without presenting the card or ID. I STRONGLY urge you to delete your credit card information from your Macys.com account. In fact, I urge you to avoid Macys alltogether. read more

Had repeated problems applying Star Money to an online order this week. No way to get help with the order via phone, email or chat. Placed the order anyway trusting that my platinum status would result in resolution of the problem after finally getting through to customer service. Couldn't get through on various phone prompts when stating the nature of the call was a problem with an order. Interestingly, when I called tonight for the fourth time and stated the nature of the call was to place an order, I got through to a person relatively quickly. The first worker was rude and dismissive making no attempt to understand or solve the problem. This is typical of Macy's customer service. However, unlike past experiences with Macy's, when I asked to speak to someone who could actually help resolve the problem, it got worse. I got another person, who actually sounded like the same person returning completely annoyed and frustrated, and he was even more dismissive and rude and basically refused to solve the problem. Shameful way to treat loyal customers helping keep the company in business. read more

One of the sales employees here did not really help me that much and even seemed kind of unsure about her job. I don't know if maybe she was just new or a seasonal worker or whatever the situation. but to be fair she was polite and pleasant, just not very helpful with what I was looking for. One of my daughters wanted a specific style jeans for Christmas which she had seen advertised at Macys a few weeks back. But when I tried to explain the description to one of the staff there, I just got a blank stare in return. Like she didn't' know what I was referring to.She did try to make some what of an effort to help but I actually ended up doing most of the work and searching different racks and shelves to find it. I did finally locate the jeans, (I think) but it took a lot of time and effort on my part instead of the sales associates staff doing more to help or even knowing more what the customer, me wanted when they described it to her.
