So when I need something quick, in & out..I will stop here. the Yaphank super center reigns supreme. But this one is closer to home. And doesn't get as crazy. Customer service at the service desk definitely needs improvement, especially for a female employee whom has worked at this location for quite some time and apparently has been spoken to in the past about negative customer interaction. As a customer who is spending money especially during the current economy you would like to feel at ease with a purchase and if need be non complicated returns. The personnel at the customer service desk in Walmart Middle Island could use extensive training on how to be professional and treat customers with respect and dignity. Not only are the people who shop there the reason as to why this location remains open but the likelihood of me returning to this location are little to none. Customer care goes a long way in every aspect of business. I also found new flavors of grenadine as well as some sweatshirts on clearance for $1.19! And I bumped into a few of my family members while I was there and that was a plus. read more

The worst most ghetto Walmart in Long Island and that's being generous lol...it's evident that the lack of hiring actual managers who know how to run a store is not in full supply at this location. Workers with dirty aprons with some who can't even speak English properly. Store is always a heaping mess and no one knows when something will come into stock or anything. I ordered an original OEM Canon toner. The Walmart site showed the Canon box, and no mention of a non-OEM replacement. I could have bought a 3rd party inferior one from anywhere, considerably cheaper!! Once ordered it said their 3rd party vendor would ship it. The one that arrived doesn't even list as being compatible with my printer!! I called Walmart, and they will " escalate it. It takes 48 hours to do so. This store is without a doubt the location where customer service DOES NOT EXIST!!!! You want to shop here? Find something that is accessible, anything locked up?, nobody will come and open it for you. You dare ask anyone for help on the floor, they will tell you to go to the customer service to ask for help. I don't know what's up with this store but it's as if the floor employees unionized and helping customers is above their pay grade so they are to be left alone. This rating is for Services. They have one person at the Services department(returns). Her name is Susan who is very nice person. They send out moneygrams and also cash checks. While in line she processed two moneygrams and for one person cashed at least eight checks. That's what banks are for. They should have a limit on the amount of checks to process at one time. While waiting in line two associates were taping a sign on a barricade to place outside. One of them could have helped to shorten the line. Shopping in the store was three stars. You also have to watch for the cost of items. On the shelf the item was $9.98 but I was charged $12 94. That was the reason why I was standing in line for thirty minutes at Services. read more

I show up to the store, there is no curbside pickup, that is a lie. The online pickup area is all the way in the back of the store (Idk what genius thought of that) When I showed up to the online pickup area there were no employees. I saw my order there on the shelf though so I took it. After being extremely pissed off at how terrible Walmart's service is, I get home and the can of acetone wont even open. I called up Walmart customer service and no one can help me with a refund. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Tbh, if I went to the store to refund the item I doubt they would give me one based on how terrible their customer service is. Plus at this point, I'm so pissed off I would not be able to control my temper and lose it with a min wage employee. Unless BBB gets me my refund I will accept the $16 loss. Went to pick up a 65' inch tv at this location. Mind you we live in Bohemia. Ordered it online and they didn't even have our order number in their system. Mary was very rude and said that since the order wasn't in the system that we didn't pay for it. Yes we did pay for it and we received an email from Walmart. There is no store manager to speak with. CAUTION: If I could leave a 0 Star review, I would. DO NOT get your oil changed or perform any Car Care services at the Walmart Auto Center in Middle Island, NY. My family brought our vehicle in for a Synthetic Oil Change and the technician installed the wrong Oil Filter and left the oil filter loose. Our car is currently sitting at a Dealership with a seized engine and Walmart denied paying for the repair, even though the internal engine damage is directly related to lack of lubrication from all of the oil leaking out of the engine. For the sake of your vehicle and your wallet, take your vehicle elsewhere. They have no pride in their work and do not own up to their mistakes, even when they are clearly at fault! read more

Bought a Christmas tree on 11/30/18 and when we took it down just after the New Year the artificial snow turned to dust...it was all over everything. I boxed it up brought it back to the Middle Island location. The manager on duty said 30 days had passed and to take it up with the mfg. So I call 800 Walmart spoke to a supervisor named Christian who eventually hung up on me. Called again spoke to a helpful rep. Rene who said he would escalate my situation. I received a call from the store solutions mgr Karen..I stopped in to see her...she acted very concerned took all my information and said she would see what she could do...I called an left several messages (which is difficult as nobody ever answered the phone) she never bothered responding. It's a big box store with bog box prices and all the accoutrements. If you want Neiman Marcus type service and associates go pay their prices. Good for car stuff--hardware-paint etc. They have their faults to be sure but they fill a need and keep the other stores on their toes. As for the place being messy, it's the people that shop there that drop stuff all over and behave like pigs. The sporting good section while often on auto pilot, is also good-- with reasonable prices. Caveat Emptor! Hahaha! Ohhhh the infamous "Wally World" Never a dull moment in this place. I was here last night around 8:00pm. Boy what a journey. The people that walk into Walmart really get you to scratch your head and just ask yourself "really?" But, that is not here nor there and does not reflect the grade on this Walmart... However this store is either a wreck, or semi clean. The employees are either helpful or useless. It's honestly a 50/50 split. I walked in looking for a special type of paint. It's basically yellow window stain but comes in a spray can by Krylon. I had asked an employee exactly that, "Would you be able to direct me to the Krylon spray paint? I'm looking for a special paint that is meant for windows" The guy said, "It's a few isles down, right hand side, on the left"... Erm... Alllllrighty then. Assuming the guy would of walked me to where it was, instead of just strolling around the store. So I try to follow his vague directions.. And I ended up bumping into another employee and asked the same question, she said "Surely!" walked me right to the paint. (unfortunately Krylon no longer manufactures the window paint anymore in yellow) then asked if I needed any other assistance. When I get to a cashier I always ask how are you?, well at Walmart they don't respond and if they do they don't ask you how you are. Trash place .. the workers are brain dead. Called east Setauket they answered right away. Called this place 7 times no one answers , customer service and electronics both don't answer phones. I was in the local Walmart today and while waiting for a prescription to be filled, I walked around the store. As I walked by the sporting goods section, I noticed a woman holding a shotgun (I guess for hunting) pointing it into the Isle I was walking down. Obviously this was unnerving as I have never looked down the barrel of a gun before. Either way, the associate "helping her" didn't seem to care where the rifle was pointed, and who was holding it. Any intelligent gun owner knows you don't point any gun at anyone whether loaded or not. Even a supposedly empty isle can fill up quick with adults and children in a simple 'round the corner turn. Obviously I get the customers need to touch, feel, and slide there hands up and down a barrel of a gun, but maybe point it upwards towards the ceiling next time. This was just another chilling reminder of where America has come and certainly.. gone. For my own safety, I think I'll drive a few extra miles and go to the Medford Target instead. read more

Waiting for help at Middle Island Wal Mart is like watching paint dry, unfortunately after 25 minutes of waiting and asking for help from various staff no one came over to unlock the spray paint cabinet so I never did get to watch my "paint dry". I run a small business and am reluctant to ever step foot in these colossal stores and this was an abrupt reminder why I don't. If I ran my business with the same (lack) of hustle and customer (un)appreciation as them I would be out of business in a week. If you value your free time like I do avoid this store at all costs. I appreciate what they're trying to do at this location (restock more frequently, have more coordinated efforts when tackling customer inquiries according to departments, recognizing the skill sets of their employees according to their abilities [I'll never forget the cashier who delicately placed each item in the rather whimsical plastic bags maybe during my second visit; it was time-consuming, but I understood what he was doing], etc.)--in spite being shown up by their own creations in other locations (Walmarts, Super Walmarts, and Sam's Clubs) as well as competitors (such as Target, especially the one off of Riverhead). The last time I went, they had the products that I was looking for (and, of course, the more expensive of the two [i.e., a highly rated air mattress] occupied three shelves instead of one), and a fellow customer let me go in front because I only had two items. I went to the store early this morning to get a bunch of cleaning supplies and was very pleased with the selection, availability of items, and cleanliness of the store. However, I don't understand why the store does not supply hand baskets for people wishing to buy only a few items. Every time I come here, I have to gather everything in my arms and barely make it to the registers carrying everything. I chose to use the self checkout registers and was upset to see that none of the registers had any plastic bags available. When I asked the attendant why there were no bags, he stated that the store chose not to order any more when they ran out since plastic bags are banned beginning March 1. That was very frustrating to me being that I assumed bags would be available, for a five cent fee of course, since March 1 It's not for another week and a half. The attendant did offer to sell me a reusable bag which I declined and once again had to hobble all the way to my car with items falling out of my arms. I will obviously be back to the store because who doesn't love the convenience of Walmart but I will obviously be bringing something to carry my items more efficiently. read more

I love this Walmart, more than any other one I've frequented. Just today, I brought my husky in, intending to purchase a kennel, amongst other things. The employees were polite, even asking me questions about my dog and offering to help me find whatever I needed. My only issue, and the reason this Walmart isn't getting 5 stars, is because there are always long lines and never enough cashiers at the checkouts. If I need any quick shopping done, or if I'm looking for a sale on an item, I know that Walmart is the cheapest and quickest stop for me. read more
