TO: Walmart Corporation Headquarters
Bentonville, Arkansas
I've filed the following verbatim with the Dept of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Persons with Disabilities, this day, April 17, 2018.
There has always been Walmart motorized carts OUTSIDE its main entrance for almost 2 years since I moved from California to Hilo, Hawaii--until TODAY 04/16/2018!
Upon arriving, there was a physically challenged man exchanging a Walmart motorized cart with an elderly man on the OUTSIDE of the widely used main front entrance to the store's interior. In entering, a young yellow-vested Walmart employee named TRAVIS [I've later learned of], stood within the store's interior exit area by himself. I went beyond to the store's interior entry area and noticed an unoccupied stool chair with a clipboard sitting ontop of it. Ergo, I turned and looked over stacks of soda cartons to the ONLY Walmart employee being TRAVIS, and motioned a need for a motorized cart. He acknowledged and upon doing so, an elderly lady sitting on a nearby bench, announced that she's been waiting for a half hour for a motorized cart. I stated to TRAVIS that I'll go after her. He acknowledged both of us. It's 12:50 pm. At 1:10 pm, a physically challenged man came from a direction within the store to return a motorized cart. The elderly woman took it and left. 1:15 pm, an able-bodied teen girl came from the OUTSIDE to the exterior area then to the interior entry area where I was, and I took it from her.
In exiting, both of the interior entry and exit points had each a yellow-vested personnel besides TRAVIS, making it a total of 3 personnel. Instead of asking for my receipt, TRAVIS stopped me and said that the Walmart motorized carts are not allowed beyond the interior exit doors, whereto, he had pointed. He then placed a push cart next to me. He stood there quizzically for some time before he showed his uncultivated nature stemming from being unskilled, unqualified and an obvious show of a nescient person who lacks human know-how, bearing insensible attributes towards seniors and those of the physically challenged, with the words--"Oh, do you need help?" I told him that he cannot pick and choose who to stop and who can go. I told him that a motorized cart was OUTSIDE when I came and that he was the only personnel inside--"...how did that motorized cart get passed you?" Also, "...how did the teenage girl with the motorized cart get passed you too?" I repeated my argument, "YOU CANNOT PICK & CHOOSE WHO GOES AND WHO CANNOT!" He insisted that is store policy and --still, I was not asked to show my receipt which is almost common at nearly every Walmart store I've shopped at except today as the PARAMOUNT ISSUE WAS THAT THE MOTORIZED CART STAYS INSIDE THE INTERIOR OF THE STORE, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE 2 CARTS THAT GOT PASSED HIM WHILE HE WAS MANNING BOTH INTERIOR EXIT AND ENTRY POINTS BY HIMSELF, but now that he has the apparent backup of 2 other personnel, gave him the opportunity to enact the store's policy! TRAVIS noted my increasing anger and said, that he'll let me go but I need to wait for an escort! I said, "You're not telling the able-bodied people to wait for an escort, just the HANDICAPPED/SENIORS must give what little time they have left on Earth, accommodation towards Walmart's loosely-followed [at least by TRAVIS] and after at least 2 years of an ignored policy that has been attached to its motorized carts for a longtime [only to be pointed out upon that occasion]--TO WAIT FOR AN ESCORT!" Able-bodied people go in and out as they please, but the handicapped and senior citizens MUST wait for an escort to avail themselves for the purpose of enforcing a policy that on the most part, was ignored by Hilo Walmart Store after at least 2 years and at least in a span of 1 hour earlier, went ignored, and afterwards, was enforced. 2 carts got passed TRAVIS when he was by himself and he effects store policy when he has backup?--AMATEURISH, LACKADAISICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL!
POLICIES ARE TO BE EFFECTIVELY ENFORCED, and not be a convenience to WALMART'S TIME/CHOOSING or ITS PERSONNEL'S TIME/CHOOSING. We are not mind readers to know when Walmart or its personnel decide to enforce or ignore policies on this or on that day, and on this or on that time.
Please assist me, and not to mention others who may have faced such a dilemma, with whatever necessary means in addressing this egregious misuse of functionality upon my person. read more
