The Prince Kuhio Plaza has been the main shopping complex on the eastside of the big island which provides - restaurants/food court, banking services, dental services, veterinarian services, shopping, and entertainment for all of the Hawaii community, & visitors abroad. Situated in Hilo town, you can find this mall just about a 3.7 miles away from the Hilo International Airport. I haven't been to Prince Kuhio Plaza in ages, as I had stopped commuting to the Big Island on a regular basis, but when I did finally come to this complex for work recently, I noticed a few changes in the vendors at this shopping complex, for instance Sears is no longer here, and a TJ Maxx took over a very large portion of the shopping complex. The mall is clean & well kept, this used to be one of my favorite spots to go to watch movies, whenever I had to stay overnight in Hilo. Of course one cannot compare this mall to like Ala Moana Shopping Center on Oahu, but at least the big island has a pretty good mall that provides many types of services for the big island community.

They carry all the standard surf brands with great selection for men and women. We come for the accessories like their bags, belts, hats, etc. and they have great variety. The style is geared toward a surf and skate lifestyle. Staff was really friendly and helpful. They're consistently approachable and chill, which blended right into the feel of the store. We got exactly what we were looking for with the staff's help. They even helped us get a better deal by recommending some of their current sales.

While working in Hilo yesterday, when it was lunch time I decided to visit an old skool drive-in called "K's Drive In", and if you thought that little shrimp burger I ate for lunch was enough sustenance for Bruddah Fran, then you thought wrong!!! Lol! And that's why later in the afternoon I had to drive all the way to Kea'au town to stop by this little shopping complex called - "Kea'au Shopping Center", just to visit the Foodland store. Built in the 80's (1982 to be exact, as you can see it in the sign), this little shopping complex mainly serves the Puna district, and the surrounding areas. Some of the businesses I saw at the Kea'au shopping complex - 1. Foodland 2. Kea'au Natural Foods 3. Ace Hardware Store 4. Suds & Duds Laundromat 5. Lemongrass Vietnamese & Thai Food 6. Supercuts 7. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 8. La Uma Samoa 9. Sandorra Floral Designs 10. Subway Sandwiches And right across the street from the "Kea'au Shopping Center", I saw the follow businesses - 1. McDonalds (but of course.......they're everywhere!) 2. Shell Gas Station & Convenience store 3. Longs Drugs 4. HFS Credit Union As small as the Kea'au Shopping Center is, I found the shopping complex to be bustling with folks, and am very happy to see some of the locally owned businesses doing well. He took us straight to the vacuum she wanted, went to get two things in two different sections of the store, then met us back@check out! It's one thing to ask for help finding an item..but, the way Pohai safely hurried to help an elder..well, it just doesn't seem to be that important anymore? ..so when it is..got to be addressed! They think noting of telling you an arrival time and then change it to the next day. So, don't count on them if you need something right away. I think shoppers must "claim" your order and several others, so delivery takes a long time. I will not renew my subscription. The one is for the second to last order. It is okay if you never need to return anything. I will do pickup instead.

We would have meetings on the Big Island every so often. After our gatherings, we'd roam around the town! This store still has amusing gifts, practical items, and cute stuff! It has postcards, jewelry, t-shirts, plushies, baby items, children's toys, Aloha shirts, soaps, lotions, books, Hello Kitty merchandise, tote bags, greeting cards, and more! Service is very friendly! The nice lady at the cash register asked me about my Shohei Ohtani shirt... LOL! Note: this store didn't have air conditioning... shucks!
