I did make an appointment on their website tool so I was expected. The staff was fast, and attentive and made sure I knew what they did and why. But they made an error. As I started to drive off I could hear a clicking sound that got faster as I sped up like having a playing card on your bike spokes as a kid. And I knew exactly what it was, the tire balance weights were hitting the brake rotors. There was no way to hear it at 2-3 MPH when pulling in and out of a bay. I had not left the shopping center they are in, drove down to the next entrance, and started pulling back in. The young man who helped me ran out the door to see what was wrong and immediately heard the sound. He was quick to apologize and pulled me into an open bay. The manager came out to see what the fuss was and then he came and apologized to me as well. It was a minor fix, they missed that they (another Discount Tire location) had upgraded tires and wheels that were not the stock sizes and put on the stock weights for the original tires. They quickly pulled the tires, reinstalled the correct weights rebalanced the tires, and got me out fast. Other places would have pretended they didn't screw up or try to shift blame. They did not, they owned it, fixed it fast, and were humble and professional about getting me back on the road.

I figured I would settle on the four tires that would come to the total of $450. Instead of booking online, I decided to call in to see how soon I could get in. I was told that I could drop off my car the same day and pick it up in a few hours. I was informed that the best tires came to the total of $490 something. I asked about the difference in what I was looking at online. I was told that the difference was that this price included a specific warranty. It frustrated me that the business would include the warranty without asking if I wanted it. I'm sure there are lots of people who would have just called and paid that price without questioning it. Especially in a time when cash is tight for a lot of people, it seems inconsiderate to upsell someone without asking their permission. Regardless, Firestone switched out the tires and called me within 2-3 hours (great timing!). They did a great job and I thought that the price was fair. I'd definitely come back and get other services done, but I'd definitely make sure to do my homework that I knew what I was paying for.

On Tuesday, they wait until 5:30 p.m.to start working on it because they had "had a busy day". Hopefully ready at 7 p.m. Poor judgement on the part of the manager to put my car low priority after Firestone's delivery blunder. I will never return.

We've used Jiffy Lube for several years, out west. Since there were so few, we actually drove a few…read moremiles and past other shoppes to come here. When we arrived they seemed totally inept and disorganized. I was close to driving away. As the service went on, I felt more and more confident. Finally, in the end I realized I made the right decision to stay and these two fellows knew their stuff. The oil containers they use and the lack of an established procedure contributed to them spilling almost half a quart on and around the engine. They cleaned it up using a small soapy solution, so I don't believe it'll be a problem. Because of the synthetic oil I use and the weight/viscosity, I usually pay a bit more than most. I was quoted $80 dollars. He then said he could take another $15 off. That was considerate. I happened to have a $20 off coupon in my email, so even better. I'm going to cut costs and go back to doing my own changes (especially in the nicer weather). Until that day comes, it's Jiffy Lube. 02/22
