The manager on duty (Buddy) told her that the dealership recommends the synthetic oil at $85 per oil change! It doesn't matter what the dealership wanted, she wanted the cheapest oil change. We all know that the 20 year old car does NOT need an $85 oil change! She felt intimidated and pressured and did not realize that she had just paid for an $85 oil change. I called the next day (today) and spoke with Buddy who refused to credit her the difference between the $85 oil change and the cheapest oil change (a difference of $40). I didn't want a full refund, just a refund on the difference. Buddy refused to refund her the difference. I own a business as well so I understand upselling and commissions. The Take 5 employees told her she needed new wiper blades, air filters, blah blah blah. She said, "I'm a poor college student. I don't want any of that. I just want the cheapest oil change please." They still proceeded to give her the $85 oil change. I promised Buddy that I will post negative reviews, fill out the survey, blast this experience on social media and all of the Aggie Network. I dropped the car off and Phillip greeted me and I gave him a list of all of the things I thought were wrong with my vehicle. He immediately weeded out some of my concerns which was great. Chris, one of the leads, took control of fixing my car and did a wonderful job. I asked him on the phone if he could show me how he fixed my vehicle and he put the car on the lift and showed me everything. He even showed me some broken parts he had thrown in a box. I would trust these guys with my vehicle again for sure. A synthetic oil change was a little over $100 and there was a 3.5% fee for cards. While some things were expensive, others were surprisingly cheap (disposal fees, labor, etc.). Give these guys a try!

I had them repair my 1897 Chevrolet pickup truck, and it was breathtakingly expensive. They charge a diagnostic fee, but they don't include that fee with the work when you approve to have the task done. The diagnostic fee is charged on top of the repair charges. For example, I asked them to recharge the AC system. I was okay with the $216 diagnostic charge. But then they charged me another $600 to do the repair. They put in new refrigerant, added dye, and tested for leaks in the system. The labor rate was $240 per hour. I still can't believe that I had to pay over $800 for a simple AC recharge job. This was not all, but the other task I had them do was similarly expensive. When I complained about the labor rate, they told me that their rates are competitive with other repair shops in Bryan TX. According to Google AI, the prevailing labor rates for automotive repair in Bryan typically ranges between $105 and $160 per hour at independent auto shops, and the Texas average is $141 - $154 per hour. I'm sure that the age of my vehicle justifies a higher rate, but let's be reasonable. I'm not saying that they did not disclose the costs of the repairs. I agreed to them. But I did not have much choice. My vehicle was not running well enough to drive, and I would have had to find a new place and get it towed there for additional cost to me. I would have lost my diagnostic costs. They had me over a barrel, and I think they took advantage of my situation. To be fair, they were friendly, competent, and willing to work on my older vehicle. I have every reason to believe that they did a good job on the repairs. But the labor rate of $240 per hour adds up in a hurry. If you use their services, be prepared to pay a huge bill.
