Don't mind the child next to my strawberry margarita!

Made a quick lunch stop in Saugatuck and the weather was beautiful that day. Decided to grab lunch at Wally's as they had a great outdoor area and me and the fam wanted to bask in the great weather outside. A nice chill spot, with TVs outside. They even had the Cubs game on which was perfect! Our server was cool and informative of the menu and answered questions that we had about the burgers. I decided to go with the Olive burger. It's a normal burger with some Olive sauce on it - kinda like a truffle sauce. Not bad and the serving was a nice portion. For those with little kids - no kids menu. However, big sis did order the chicken tenders and it came with large portions so gave my toddler one of them along with fries and she was happy. There is a full bar inside so plenty of cocktails and beers available to choose from.

Repeat visit to Wally's. There was live music this time and it was awesome! We shared appetizers and enjoyed the music & views. This is a great spot.

We were a walk in for a late lunch. Wo we really found a great place. We started with drinks. then had the 1/2 arch dinner with onion rings and the olive burger. The portion size was huge. The perch was one of the best things I've ever had. OMG I think 5 pieces of butterflied perch lightly battered but nice and crisp. the tartar sauce was perfect. The onion rings matched the perch. The burger was also good if you ike olives. It comes with meted cheese and lots of perfectly fried fries. We enjoyed ourselves so much we sat there and had 2 more rounds of drinks.

Cheese curds

Came here for a late lunch on a Saturday & there was just a ten minute wait for the patio. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I enjoyed the patio. But overall, I can't say I would recommend this place. The cheese curds definitely tasted like they were fried in lard or some kind of weird oil/grease that I did not enjoy the taste of at all. And they weren't really curd, just small mozzarella sticks (yes there's a difference hahah). My salad was good, a little small for the price, but good. My sister's sandwhich was a big portion piled high with meat. Not really much for a vegetarian to eat, so heads up if you don't eat meat!

The spinach artichoke dip is so good. Huge chunks of artichokes! Tried the Yankee Pot Roast sandwich and was pleasantly surprised too! Service was friendly and we sat outside on their patio.

We had a beautiful lunch at Wally's. We were out hunting magnets on a recent road trip and stopped in to grab some lunch. Hubby was excited to see that they had fried perch on the menu. He loved it! He said it was breaded nicely and had great flavor. I had the gorgonzola salad with chicken. The salad was perfectly dressed and the veggies were very fresh. It had a tad too much gorgonzola, but it was still very good. Our waitress was very nice, and checked on us often. We had a table outside and it was just perfect weather, with great food, and wonderful people around us.

Came here for lunch earlier in the day- it was fantastic. Our waitress was so nice, sweet, and funny and really made us feel welcome. The smoked salmon salad is fantastic, and the brisket nachos were a hit! . We came back in the evening to see the bar scene as we're not impressed. The bartenders weren't very friendly, and for some reason refused to give us glass cups to drink out of, even though everyone in the area was given glass cups. The waitress was helping and busting every table but ours. Not sure what was going on there. Probably would not come back to this bar, but would definitely come back for lunch.

Wally's is a bit of an acquired taste. There are three factors to consider. First, the service. The locals that work here can be hit and miss. Some are pleasant and personable. Some seem annoyed that you are patronizing them. I prefer the former, and tolerate the latter. Second, the food. I really, really like it a lot. The perch is simply outstanding. It's a Michigan delicacy. Great Lakes perch lightly breaded and fried. Tender, succulent morsels of delicious goodness. Third, the establishment, ie ambiance, etc.. Wally's is an institution. Off the water, it gets busy. Love both bars. The outdoor seating area is a great spot in the summer to enjoy a cold beer, eat the best perch ever, and watch the beautiful people walk by.

Walked out as we sat down for 15 minutes and they didn't serve us. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! Go to another one around the corner.

And subsequently there was no wait to grab a table at the Butler. I've only ever been outside on their massive patio in the summer that they recently built, so this was the first time dining inside. It was definitely dated inside. Carpets throughout with an old school supper club vibe. The food was good, not great. Nothing noteworthy. Our family ordered got the Butler burger, mac and cheese with brisket, pickle fries, caesar salad, and the stuffed mushrooms. The service was probably the highlight. Our server was incredibly nice and even spoke Spanish to our uncles who were visiting us from Ecuador. He was super attentive and on top of everything. You should check them out in the summer and enjoy the patio views. Hold off on going during the winter if you're able to.

Our bartender kept saying they were so slow that everyone kept making mistakes--which was strange, given how empty the place was. Our order was wrong multiple times. The cheeseburger was greasy, and fries we didn't order showed up tasting like rancid oil. The onion rings we did order came out after we were basically done eating and were completely burnt and inedible. The chicken salad arrived with no chicken and kind of a sloppy mess. When we mentioned it, a plate of dried, overcooked chicken breast was brought out separately. The food overall felt like cheap diner food, but the prices are not cheap ($17-$24 for burgers and salads). The draft beers are good . We normally avoid eating here because the food is pretty abysmal. In the summer, the only real benefit is the patio. This visit just confirmed why we don't eat here--gave it another chance and now we are done

Apology: I didn't take any pictures of the food because we were hungry and it was delicious…read more We went to Phil's while in town visiting The Dunes for the Miss Gay Michigan America Pageant this weekend. Walking in we were immediately redirected because we didn't notice the please wait to be seated sign that was outside of the door. It would be nice if the sign had been a little more visible or if we had been redirected more kindly. We were sat immediately and even though I tend to hate high tops, the chairs were sturdy and comfortable. Between myself and my friends we ordered the grilled ham and cheese, the nutty salad, and the burger (with cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mayo, ketchup, and mustard). We all loved our food and it came out quickly. I ordered my burger medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. Our server was attentive and made sure to refill our water frequently. At the end of our meal they gave us little cups of animal crackers, which was just the cutest touch! Overall loved and would totally return and recommend.

We grabbed seats at the bar, and the place was full of locals which honestly tells you everything you need to know right there. And not just full... but full of the nicest people. The kind of place where you feel like you belong within five minutes. Now let's talk about Jimmy... WOW. Absolute rockstar behind the bar. Not only was he making amazing drinks, but he was also doing his best to convince us to ditch our dinner reservations and stay honestly, he almost had us The drinks were so good we ended up coming back later that night for dessert... because clearly we weren't done yet. But here's the part that got me I casually mentioned it was my birthday weekend, nothing big... and the NEXT DAY while we were walking around downtown, we look up and there's my name on the marquee wishing me a happy birthday. Like... who does that?! That kind of thoughtfulness is just next level and completely made my day. Phil's isn't just a bar--it's a whole experience. Every time we walked by, it was packed, and after being there... I get it. They're doing a lot right. If you're anywhere near Saugatuck--GO. Sit at the bar, order a drink, and just enjoy it. You'll probably end up staying longer than you planned too

A group of six of us stopped in for lunch recently and sat on the upstairs deck which was lovely. We were seated at two round tables pushed together which didn't make for the best conversation flow, but we enjoyed the nice weather and atmosphere. Our server was awesome - super kind and helpful with suggestions and on top of service. I ordered the BLT & T wrap with fries, which was pretty tasty. The lettuce was fresh and crisp, and I liked the accompanying cup of ranch. It was also a large portion- I ended up eating the whole thing since were were walking around afterwards and I didn't want to have to carry my leftovers. I was super full! The menu is pretty basic but it did the trick. It was fun hearing some of the bands at night playing here while we were walking around the area. Next time we wait the hour for Butler. The server brought the check and asked about dessert while we were all still eating which was annoying. We heard another table comment on that as well.
