Ya never really know what to expect when you go to a new mechanic. But I would highly recommend Steve at Argo. He was able to turn my bad situation into a good one. Thanks for being honest and fair.

I was told over the phone that "general mechanics don't know how to pull the code like a transmission specialist would" and that they "could force the code" so I decided to trust the expert. The man at the desk was very nice and I was told almost immediately (before even looking at my car) it was probably a grounding wire issue and they would call me with a quote for the fix and an over sure transmission flush. I was later called and told they would need the car overnight for repairs and they believed it would be around $350-$400. The next day I was called and told they needed to do 3 flushes and the grounding wire stuff so the total would be closer to $450 or $500 on the high end. When I was finally able to pick up the car the total was $612. I was fine with that as long as the car was fixed even though it was $100+ over what I was quoted last. THE NEXT DAY the transmission slipped again. Argos was closed for a long weekend so I wasn't able to bring my car back until the following Tuesday. That weekend it happened 4 more times... nothing was fixed or even improved so I don't know what the grounding wire work was for. Upon taking the car back my husband was told point blank that they "don't know what is wrong with the car." Awesome. He was told the they were going to "call a friend on the east coast who specializes in Mazda transmissions and see what he suggests". Why wasn't that done in the first place? I don't know. Frustrated, I googled the issue myself and found a few possible solutions. I called the closest Mazda deal ship to get information about what it might be and a quote for a fix. A week goes by and the issue is getting worse and we still haven't heard back from Argos. I finally call and the guy basically admits to consulting a chat room for car repairs and found the same information I did. Not what I would expect from a specialist. At that point I lost all confidence in Argos and their ability to accurately fix the issue without wasting more of my time and money on failed fixes. I will give Argos two stars because the guy at the front desk was nice, even if this was the worlds most expensive transmission flush.

At the outset I told the person at the desk that I had a check engine light for a code indicating that the evaporative fuel system had a leak. I told him that if the code (P1420) was still the same to do nothing further. After a few hours, I received a call from the same person indicating that I needed a new air conditioner compressor and that there was a small leak from the condenser. When I picked up my car, I was billed a total of $166.62 even though no repairs were performed. $75+ was for looking at the check engine light. The code, which was the one I told them about, was not even erased. I am no mechanic and, in fact, I have very limited mechanical ability. However, it is very easy to check these codes and erase them. I took my cheap code checking device from AutoZone and timed how long it took me to plug it in, read the instructions, and erase the code. It took me 3 minutes. At the rate Luttrell's charged me that is the equivalent of $1500 per hour. What a joke. If I had been told I would be charged $75 plus tax to look at the engine light code, I would have declined. If the cause of the check engine light had been diagnosed, I wouldn't have a complaint. However, in my experience a reputable company would not have charged anything for such a minor task as checking an engine light code and doing nothing more. I had no problem paying the cost of diagnosing the problem with my air conditioner. However, the estimated cost of repairing my air conditioner was $4500+. I decided not to authorize the repair. I then went online to get an estimate of the cost to replace the compressor. According to one site, the estimated cost for our area was around $2200 for the compressor. Assuming the condenser was included in this estimate, that would cost another $800 for a total of $3000. https://repairpal.com/estimator/estimate-results. Another website estimated the cost at $2400 for the compressor and $725 for the condenser for a total of $3125. https://www.yourmechanic.com/estimates/lexus/rx400h/ac-compressor-replacement. Draw your own conclusion whether you should trust Lutrell's estimate, which was roughly $1400 higher that the second estimate. So end the end, I was charged a total of $166.62 for "diagnostic" work, which included $3 for undifferentiated "shop supplies". While repair shops vary, I would note that I recently had my Toyota pickup serviced at Master Auto Service down the road from Luttrell's and the total cost was $200 below the RepairPal website estimated cost for the work that was performed. If that shop worked on hybrids, I would go back there in an instant. I will never step foot in Lutrell's again.

Today, I purchased a car from quite literally the BEST car professional I have worked with (and there have been MANY!). Monica at Chevrolet/Nissan of Walla Walla was absolutely fantastic. She cared about what I was looking for - she listened to what I was saying - she engaged with me the entire time - and in the end, Monica and her team won the deal with me because of Monica's caring, consultative approach. This purchase was not for a "daily driver" this was an "I need another sports car in the garage!" My point? I didn't need it, I wanted it. BUT, I did not "want it" bad enough to not take into account that the exact same sports car is available across the USA and the right deal would eventually present itself. If you need a new/used car and you are in Walla Walla or the surrounding area - give Monica at Chevrolet/Nissan of Walla Walla a call! You won't be disappointed! I also had the ABSOLUTE PLEASURE of dealing with June and Manny as part of the sales process. All 3, 100% professionals that know how to build a relationship with a customer and most importantly laugh and be able to enjoy the process. No joke at all - best car buying experience for me, ever. Monica, June and Manny - Thank you, I will be back!

At no point after my extremely bad…read moreexperience did management attempt to reach me, they only publicly replied to my review to ask me to reach out to them. In fact, at no point did anyone from the dealership ever call me, except to reschedule my initial appointment. I've never been to any car repair or service shop where they texted you instead of calling you that your car was ready, which is definitely why we're in in the first place. A text is very easy to miss if you're expecting a call. Additionally, they texted me a link to approve the service in which they noted two things as "critical" one minute before they texted me my car was ready. How is my car both ready, and waiting on my approval? That's not promising. Initial review: Both experiences at this dealership have been sub par. The online system spins you in a doom loop and the same thing happened when I called to make an appointment. I waited on hold for so long the first three times I called (over the course of a few weeks, not one right after the other), that the phone started ringing all over again. Someome finally picked it up and hung up on me without saying anything TWICE in my attempts. The hold message tells you to schedule an appointment online, but you can't. Yet online, it doesn't tell you it's not working, it's fully booked instead, so you scroll through endlessly looking for openings. When I finally got a hold of someone via phone, it was the level of customer service this expect from a place that hangs up on you. She laughed when I asked about the online system and said it doesn't work, but I finally got an appointment scheduled. Then, they called me two business days before my appointment to reschedule for a time that would not work for me. So, to reschedule, I had to go through the same doom loop. It's important to bring your car to a certified dealership for service at least every few oil changes, and I was way overdue from my last mediocre experience here, but they are the sole dealership in Walla Walla, which is why I was so persistent. Well fast forward to today and I dropped my car off early for my 4pm appointment because I had to go back to work and I explicitly stated that. Service guy was super nice, but he said nothing about the service department closing early. I came back admittedly an hour after they texted me that my car was ready, but nearly 30 minutes before their stated online closing hour, so I thought it would be fine. Well I was wrong, they locked my keys a room without anyone else having access to them, nor did they ever call me to tell me. Note to staff, if a customers keys are still there at close, move them to the sales area like you told me you would do when you previously tried to reschedule my appointment, or make sure someone has access, or call the customer to see where they are.. It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review. I worked in corporate for the largest auto retailer in the world for five years and I can tell you this is not how a dealership is supposed to be ran. The garage was a mess and the front door had layers of fingerprints that looked like they'd been there for days while what seemed like dozens of employees walked by, none of whom could immediately assure me that they could get my keys or provide me a way home and to work in the morning. Do not buy a car here, you will never be able to get it serviced and when you do get it serviced, you wish you went somewhere else.
