BEWARE. My daughter took her car in because she thought she needed the brakes done. This place told her she would need pads and rotors plus they charged for the inspection. CONSUMER BEWARE: I will never go back to Luttrell's. I took my 2006 Lexus in to repair my faltering air conditioner. At the outset I told the person at the desk that I had a check engine light for a code indicating that the evaporative fuel system had a leak. I told him that if the code (P1420) was still the same to do nothing further. After a few hours, I received a call from the same person indicating that I needed a new air conditioner compressor and that there was a small leak from the condenser. When I picked up my car, I was billed a total of $166.62 even though no repairs were performed. $75+ was for looking at the check engine light. The code, which was the one I told them about, was not even erased. I am no mechanic and, in fact, I have very limited mechanical ability. However, it is very easy to check these codes and erase them. I took my cheap code checking device from AutoZone and timed how long it took me to plug it in, read the instructions, and erase the code. It took me 3 minutes. At the rate Luttrell's charged me that is the equivalent of $1500 per hour. What a joke. If I had been told I would be charged $75 plus tax to look at the engine light code, I would have declined. If the cause of the check engine light had been diagnosed, I wouldn't have a complaint. However, in my experience a reputable company would not have charged anything for such a minor task as checking an engine light code and doing nothing more. I had no problem paying the cost of diagnosing the problem with my air conditioner. However, the estimated cost of repairing my air conditioner was $4500+. I decided not to authorize the repair. I then went online to get an estimate of the cost to replace the compressor. According to one site, the estimated cost for our area was around $2200 for the compressor. Assuming the condenser was included in this estimate, that would cost another $800 for a total of $3000. https://repairpal.com/estimator/estimate-results. Draw your own conclusion whether you should trust Lutrell's estimate, which was roughly $1400 higher that the second estimate. So end the end, I was charged a total of $166.62 for "diagnostic" work, which included $3 for undifferentiated "shop supplies". While repair shops vary, I would note that I recently had my Toyota pickup serviced at Master Auto Service down the road from Luttrell's and the total cost was $200 below the RepairPal website estimated cost for the work that was performed. If that shop worked on hybrids, I would go back there in an instant. I will never step foot in Lutrell's again. read more

DON'T BOTHER! We have lived in town for a year and a half and have brought our car to Lutrell's several times - but it's always a huge annoyance! If they choose to take your car, they won't give you an appointment - you're told to just drop it off right when they open and they'll "get to it." Then, they take alllll day and act annoyed with you when you take 30 minutes to pick it up. This month, we've been trying to buy a second vehicle and wanted a mechanic to check it out first - Lutrell's told us to have the seller drop it off, then when she tried to they turned her away saying we hadn't made an appointment! So we called again today to make an appointment only to be told they didn't have any available. They are turning away an easy job, another vehicle to add to their customer roster, and a lifetime of business from my family. Not only that - but I'm a talker! So they can guarantee I will tell everyone I know to avoid the hassle and go elsewhere. PS - Yelp has filtered out about five more really recent and really negative reviews - this place has gone downhill quick! read more

The auto mechanics are great here. My (much older) car was on the verge of death and they brought it back to life for exactly the price they quoted me (and what several websites said that that service should cost in this area). The only drawback is their receptionist. Now there is a fine example of a woman who needs another job that does not involve customer service. She was surly and rude all three of the times (on different days) that I had contact with her. After talking with a few other folks who have had their cars serviced at Luttrell's it turns out that this is her natural demeanor. So, if you can get past some serious attitude at the desk and talk to one of the mechanics your visit here will be much more pleasant. read more

Very Dishonest!.. Took my HEMI in for a oil change. I brought 8 quarts of synthetic 5/20 oil and a mopar oil filter.. Hemi's take 7 quarts so I knew I would have a quart left over. It took the 2 hours and they supposedly used all 8 Quarts... When questioned they said "well it took them all".. Car since then has been running ruff... Took it to my normal oil place whom I normally use... The showed me the non mopar oil filter that was installed plus it was on finger tight and leaking... And the oil used was not synthetic oil. ... So Luttrell's took my oil and filter and used the wrong stuff... I will never go there again!!!! read more

Extremely bad experience! I took my wife's van in due to some rattling in the right rear suspension and asked that they identify the problem. A few hours later I receive a call telling me I need new rear shocks and new calipers and its going to cost $900. Floored by the price I decline the repairs and go to pick up the vehicle. When driving away there is a new, very loud, rattle on the left side that was not there before. I turn around and after an argument with the guy at the desk I leave extremely frustrated since they will not admit to causing a new issue. After taking the vehicle to another mechanic I find out that Luttrells did not reinstall one of the shocks correctly, the shocks do not need replaced, and there is nothing wrong with the calipers. To make it worse the original problem was due to a missing clip that secures the brake pad in the caliper! It was a $5 fix not $900! How is it ok to fabricate issues and try to take advantage of your customers!? Ridiculous! I will never do business with these guys again! read more

These guys are great. They do quality work and are approved by AAA and are also a Napa repair shop. These approvals don't come easy! They do quality work and are competitive with pricing. They have diagnosed several issues that other auto repair place can't or won't consider. They start with the simplest and move on. They are very detailed, quick and forthcoming with how long things will take. read more

On my way to Walla Walla my mercedes broke down. People said either it over heated or the altinator went out so I called Luttrells since they work on Mercedes when I got to walla walla and they said they'd take it in the next day. So I had it towed to them (from where I was staying) the next morning at 7:30am and they said they'd look at it and call me. They never called so I called them in the evening and they said they hadn't got to it but promised to look at my car first thing the next morning. So I called them at 8:30 the next morning expecting they had already looked at my car and they hadn't. Again they promised they'd check it out that morning and they'd call. So at noon I still hadn't heard from them so I called. Finally they said they were in the middle of checking out my car and told me that everything looked normal so far... so I asked them to call again when they'd finished looking at it. And when they did they said all that was wrong was my car was very low on coolant and they replaced the faulty radiator cap. I was skeptical because the car would not start or do anything when the break down happened but so far my car is fine. I ended up paying $101. read more

Check engine light went on while driving from Kirkland to Walla Walla. Called Luttrells and they had me drive right in, checked the car and told me it was a catalytic converter issue which was not an emergency and could be fixed by my normal mechanic after I returned to Kirkland. Friendly, honest people. Didn't charge for diagnosis. read more
