It's a small, intimate venue, which makes every event feel more personal and creates a great connection between the performers and the audience. The owners are musicians themselves, and it really shows. They understand what makes a great venue and consistently bring in a diverse lineup of entertainment. While Flat Iron is a bar, they also allow guests under 21 to attend many of their live music events, making it an accessible spot for music lovers of all ages. Their drink selection is solid too, with sodas, beer, wine, cocktails, hard seltzers, and THC beverages available. As a locally owned and operated business, Flat Iron is one of those places that helps make Greensboro's music and arts scene special. I'll definitely be back the next time I see something on their calendar. The man in the front who checks ID's wasn't doing his job and instead of being outside, was inside mingling with customers. Do I stand outside waiting in the cold? No.. I went inside to get what I came for- some drinks. The security man then wobbled over to me and my boyfriend to accuse us of running away from him to avoid getting carded..? Although we were ID ready, his nasty attitude and the way he tried to "out" us in front of everyone to put more attention on us was unacceptable, unprofessional, and they haven't gotten my service since. After our most recent visit, my partner and I experienced severe symptoms that felt far beyond what we have ever experienced from alcohol consumption. This, along with other events that night, led us to worry our drinks may have been tampered with. We spoke to a bartender about our concerns and requested if we were able to view footage from that night. We were told management would be notified, security footage would be reviewed, and we would be contacted the next morning. When we weren't contacted, we reached out again and were told the same thing. After still not hearing back, we contacted the bar a third time, where another bartender refused to contact management on our behalf despite the seriousness and time-sensitive nature of the situation. We eventually obtained the manager's contact information ourselves, only to learn he had never been informed despite us being told otherwise on multiple occasions. He declined to meet with us to discuss the matter, and we later learned the owner had also never been made aware of the incident until we contacted her directly as well. The most disappointing part of this experience wasn't what may or may not have happened that night, but the lack of urgency surrounding a serious safety concern, the conflicting information we were given, and the failure to communicate the issue to management and ownership. I truly hope the bar takes future safety concerns more seriously and ensures they are promptly communicated, but we no longer feel safe here and will not be returning.
