Let's start with the most important item, the food. The food is great! I had the Walker Burger, small fries, and a chocolate banana shake. Everything was delicious. The burger looked small to me, but actually turned out to be just right. The fries were tasty and crisp. The chocolate & Banana shake was amazing. Also Walker burger has great customer service. Everyone was polite and helpful. Now for the bad. I waited 50 minutes for my food. They did have a sign posted stating there wss a 45 minute wait, but they are making burgers, not filet mignon. How long does it take to cook a burger? That was an exceedingly long time to wait. Moreover, they set the expectation for wait time and didnt meet it. I passed through town on my way from Amador wine country and the Alabama Hills via Highway 395. It was about the only place opened at lunch time. You order via a window and pick up via another window. I had a hamburger and fries, classic. It was pretty decent. Especially the fries which were very crispy. read more

On the drive from Tahoe to Yosemite, we were looking for a local place to eat and asked the toll collector/car inspector for a recommendation. She highly recommended Walker Burger. The onion rings are not too greasy, in ample servings. Yesterdays Impossible Burger was so-so, drowned in BBQ sauce so much that I couldn't really taste the "meat". This place is adorable, and a huge hit. We went on a Wednesday around 12:45 and there were tons of people ordering. It's cheap, good food, and has great outdoor seating in a little garden area. The wife and I decided to road trip to Reno. Rather than north on 99. We detoured and went east on 108 and north on 395. We planned our stop methodically. While driving 395 we were admiring the beautiful high desert of California. The winding West Walker River. With a number of parks and campsites along the way. And then the sign, Walker 13 miles. Their it is! Their it is! I circle around the driveway and park right up front being sure not to hit the plants. Lol We stand in a line of people, about 6 deep. This is a well oiled machine and ran as such. The line flew by. The wife grabs a booth. And I order with the the polite gentlemen who was more than happy to take my order. I find the wife in the garden. I sat and we took in the birdhouses, the grassy area. The gazebo type of booths. Our number is called. I return to the table with our tray of food. 2 cheese burgers 1 french frie and 2 drinks. The burger looks like you think it should, AMAZING!! The bun was the vessel that held together greatness. My husband and I stopped by this place on our 8 hour drive home and man oh man, I can't wait to travel back just to eat here again! The food was absolutely delicious. I got the bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions & jalapeños, fries and fried pickles. Everything was so fresh. Usually you expect greasy fried pickles (or anything fried) and it was not greasy at all. I don't know how they do it but the food was cooked to PERFECTION. They also have so many drink options. We got the cane cola and it was so good to sip on while eating. The service was also so nice and refreshing to have people who were just happy to talk to you and give great service. A big thank you to the walker burger staff, you guys are incredible and made the experience so worth it. Another great part about this place is the garden eating area. Then they asked if I wanted to tip the crew and was forced to pay 15% for service that isn't provided. There's no inside seating. I had the regular burger (which they say is for kids but was plenty for me) and husband had the Monster which had bbq sauce, onion rings, bacon, two patties and cheese. It was huge. There are very few places in the world that make me feel like a kid again...Walker Burger is one of those. During my youth we spent many weekends fishing the Walker River and staying in the area. It was always a treat to end the day with a burger and shake at Walker Burger. Fast forward 20 years later and they are still kicking out the same great food and memories. The burgers and shakes are delicious. They keep the grounds very clean and fun, which makes it nice to just kick back and picnic outside in the shade. Walker Burger is the perfect stop along the 395 for lunch or dinner. My kids and I have been going here for both since we started traveling up the 395. This time we stopped for lunch, and actually skipped In-N-Out in Carson City so that we could have this deliciousness. The ladies working were super nice, and our food was excellent as always. A favorite lunch stop in the middle of Walker. I've ridden my motorcycle from the Bay Area over the Sierras, had lunch and ridden back. The burgers are decent, but the garden is the best part.
