RARE Moving & Trucking - Our marble table was no problem for these guys

    RARE Moving & Trucking

After nearly 20 years in Boston, a move across the country was beyond daunting. Kamaul and his crew…read moretook all of the stress out of the process. From getting packing materials to us and helping us pack, to loading the truck so well that the movers that unpacked the truck were amazed, they exceeded our expectations. His crew handled a roaming 1 year old and acouple 60 year olds trying to "help" with efficiency, positivity and humor, which goes a long way on such a stressful day. I can't recommend Rare enough!

BUT, since we were moving out of state we…read morethought it was a good idea to store our items with them until we found a home in our new state. The actual move was fine. Nothing broken, the guys were on time and very professional. However, a third of the items we stored with them were lost and never to be seen again. My sister also using RARE made the same move at the same time and again, about a 1/3rd of her items were missing and never to been seen again. Kamaul paid us for our missing items, but that is not the point you want your stuff, or you would have never packed and stored them and oh yes, paid for storage monthly which there was no deduction for lost items. Also, it is very hard to figure out all the items that are missing until you go to reach for an item you need, and it's gone months later. I am still finding things that are missing that I had not thought to put on the reimbursement list. Soooo, if you are using them to move, ok DON'T STORE ANYTHING. Keep in mind that many items cannot really be replaced. They have sentimental value, they mean a lot to you or you would not have packed stored and intended to have them in your new home. JUST DON'T STORE ANYTHING WITH THEM IF YOU WANT IT. You are better off having it moved and put into storage in your new city. Good luck with your move.

Dear Kilroy, Stacy, Mike, Mikey, Tim, Tom, Kelly and the whole crew,…read more Just an enormous thank you for the pre move and then the real move yesterday. I have told everybody there is nobody better than you. You have helped me in the past. You are so pleasant, fun, terrific, marvelous, fabulous movers and people From all the help with the unpacking, the breakfasts, the new Kilroy mug, everything is above and beyond and I thank you for the bottom of my heart. I wish the world was as professional and no nonsense as you. You got the piano up here, no problem just fabulous Thank you, Amy Miller

Careless and Unresponsive Movers…read more I hired Kilroy Bros to move my parents to a senior living facility in April of 2024. It has taken me some time to write this review because of things discovered after the move and their lack of resolution. While the person I contacted (Stacy) was very friendly upfront and even helped my parents sort through some stuff upfront, things went downhill from there. On moving day, the movers were cordial but even as they were moving things I noticed multiple boxes stacked on top of other boxes that said "fragile" as they were wheeled into the apartment and they were visibly being crushed at the edges. Once we got everything in and opened things up, we saw that several items had been broken either due to poor wrapping (a service paid for by us and provided by them) and/or because of lack of care in the moving process, These included several glasses, a vase and an antique tea pot that my mother loved among others. As we unpacked, we also realized that among several items that were missing was my mothers jewelry box , which along with everyday jewelry had several sentimental and irreplaceable items in it including both of my grandmothers' wedding rings. There were also several other items that we noticed missing in the weeks since after getting 100% unpacked. We notified Stacy of the broken items as well as the missing jewelry on the spot and she was verbally apologetic and even took pictures of the tea pot with the brand name as she said sometimes they can find these online and that they would investigate. Since that time we never heard a thing back from her despite multiple emails and phone messages. I must admit that I was at first a bit skeptical that anyone would have taken stuff from an elderly couple. However, after combing through everything and knowing that my mothers jewelry box was there the day before the move (and going back to their old house to make sure it wasn't somehow left behind) as well as being ghosted by the person who said they would help resolve it, I felt it was worth writing this review. Whether someone stole the items or not, they clearly broke several items and acknowledged it, and then did NOTHING about it. Frankly, I rarely write reviews even after subpar service because I like to just move on. However, since that time my mother has expressed her regrets about even making the move because of the loss of these cherished items and that is heartbreaking to hear (this is after she has also personally reached out to Kilroy several times with zero response). Consistent with several other reviews I would warn people against using their services as they will sound great upfront but service and follow-up are somewhere between negligent and criminal.
