Most of the big box pharmacies such a CVS,…read moreRight Aid and Walgreens do you have such cheaper prices it almost makes going through with the continuous frustration and hardships just to achieve the simplest tasks. From being short staffed to feeling way too many prescriptions they always seem to give you the worst looks when they ask when you plan on picking up your prescription and you have the "nerve" to tell them you'd be waiting for it. If there ever is any sort of problem that they might have to call the insurance company the doctor or something might be out of stock it will take you 30 to 45 minutes easily before they call you to the counter to tell you you have to go elsewhere. That's why I was glad to find out that the ShopRite pharmacy in Phillipsburg New Jersey is the best alternative to dealing with the headaches and frustration that you will undoubtably encounter in all of these "super" drugstores. The prices are fair while they may be a little bit more expensive than the big box of chains there definitely reasonable the staff is friendly and they're always well supplied with enough people working behind the counter so that your wait time is greatly diminished. I don't think I've ever encountered a situation where they were out of stock of any medicine nor have I had any issues with them needing to contact someone from my insurance company or doctors office either. I still remember the first time I used their pharmacy they gave me a 20 to 30 minute wait time for my prescription refilled and then I added bonus to be inside a grocery store I took the time to go pick up a few items within five minutes they are calling my name in the loudspeaker I was sure it was to tell me something without a stocker there was some issue but no my order was ready and I was out the door faster than I've been at any of the bigger chains. I advise anyone that has prescriptions to fill especially on a regular basis plan it around your shopping trips and just drop them off and by the time you're finished getting your groceries you will be pleasantly surprised :-)

These temps couldn't care less about customers. Absolutely atrocious service by a LUCY today. Ohhh my God! Very hard to understand, does not want to lift a finger to work, and does not seem to want to be there. Not sure why Walgreens would hire people like this and put them at a pharmacy counter! Worst decision. Maybe they could be used for re-stocking shelves etc but not in contact with customers. No wonder the Boots-Walgreens company is reportedly in financial trouble. Walgreens overall is always five stars with wonderful pharmacists. The one-star rating is for LUCY who single-handily can spoil your experience.

Unfortunately, my instincts are that that "temporarily" is destined to stretch on into "eternity." I can't say I've had a whole lot of experience with this place, but it's the epitome of an old-fashioned, small-town pharmacy, and the fact that it's gone is not good. As I've mentioned, the 1st time I came here was with my old friend for a milkshake, and I remember it being a damn good one. The next time was a year or 2 ago. My nose was running like a sieve, and I just felt crummy. This usually happens at least once every winter, and my usual remedy was Day-quil and Ny-quil. After a few days, they tended to work, but I was always left with a splitting headache, and it always took a few days before I was cured. Fed up, I decided to come to Far Hills for new medication, and the pharmacist was very helpful, much more so than in large chains like Walgreens or CVS. He asked me a few questions about my overall health, then recommended Coricidin "Cold & Flu" pills, plus a supplement designed to boost my immune system. The price was very reasonable. He cautioned that it might make me sleepy. I went home, took the pills as directed, and the next day I was vastly improved. I returned again sometime later for a milkshake and learned that they didn't make them anymore. Sad, but I got an ominous feeling from that. My last visit was a few weeks ago. There was no one at the front counter, and the 2 men working were on the phones, having in-depth conversations about the perilous state of the pharmacy's finances. The pharmacist was polite, apologized to me for the long wait, and rang me up without further distractions, but that ominous feeling had become a commanding sense of dark foreboding that the pharmacy was not long for the world. It's really too bad. I hate to see small, independent businesses fail, whether they're bookstores or pharmacies. Not too long after that last visit, I went to my local Walgreen's to pick up my prescription headache medication (yeah, I feel guilty about it, but I've been coming here for decades and only became aware of the Far Hills Pharmacy during the past few years) and couldn't help but reflect on the differences. Walgreens was larger, had more aisles, was more densely stocked with everything from Unisom pills to cough syrup to paper towels to vaccinations. But I for one will miss the homey, hands-on touch of the Far Hills Pharmacy, despite my limited experiences with it. I don't know how long they were in business, but it just feels very sad. Another independent bites the dust. Not good.
