The wait time in the drive-through as well as in the store is too long. It doesn't matter if there's one person in line or three people in line it always takes at least 15 minutes, which is ridiculous. This is by far the worst pharmacy I've ever had to deal with. Since I moved to Tacoma a year ago, every single time I need to refill a prescription, there is some kind of issue that requires me to call my doctor and insurance multiple times because they seemingly don't refill prescriptions that are ordered online. They are constantly telling me that the doctor/insurance company is denying a refill for whatever reason, while the doctor/insurance company tells me that Walgreens isn't responding to calls or emails. I was moved here from a Walgreens that closed, and I will be going somewhere else after I get everything refilled this time. It's a shame how little concern they have for the fact that they are messing with people's health. If you have other options for your prescriptions, go with those. This place is horrific. read more

It's disgusting, trash covers the parking lot, it's smells like urine as soon as you step outside. And they don't care that people are doing drugs in the parking lot and behind their building. They need to hire a cleaner for the parking lot and security... I get that it isn't a great part of town but sheesh! The only reason it even gets a star is because the staff are super friendly... Went in to get three vaccinations from the pharmacy. I made an appointment on the Walgreen's website five days ahead of time, but the pharmacy didn't have one of the vaccines I had ordered. When I arrived, I got the impression that my appointment hadn't been communicated to the pharmacy staff at all. It really spoiled the experience, because the vaccine they didn't have was the most important of the three. There's some breakdown in their communication chain that needs to be addressed. Despite that, I was happy with the customer service. I was seen right away and the pharmacists were both very friendly and helpful. read more

This Walgreens is pretty typical of your drug store chains. All about the same , stock and service-wise. Every time I go there (it's the closest to my abode), the cashiers are different. Revolving door? Who knows. One rather weird thing about Walgreens, is if you go in and watch, before long you're bound to see some scarecrow helping himself then scooting out the door. And they're usually the type who took the term "drug store" too literally. This was especially true of the 84th and Pacific location..they were taking stuff out in purses and hand bags! I asked the cashier once, "did you see that?" and she replied there wasn't anything they could do. I guess losing merchandise is cheaper than hiring security. read more

Walgreens on 38th and Pacific in Tacoma, WA. Came for a routine flu shot. The man who administered the shot was curt, rude, QUICK and totally uncaring. Shot was administered Violently, Fast and sloppy, leaving Blood, a Huge, Swollen Lump and actual BRUISING of the shoulder. It was very painful, much more that what is normal in this type of immunization. After administering the shot, pharmacist RUSHED out of the room, did not listen to (or answer) questions we had. Have had immunizations at various pharmacies, clinics and hospitals in the past (including this pharmacy), always with minimal pain, NEVER with Blood, Never with Severe Swelling and Never with actual (black and blue) Bruising of the shoulder. I have provided a photo, it is life-size (actual size) to scale. It is larger than a golf ball and swollen badly. This will grow and worsen over the next several days. Worst customer experience here (or anywhere). Pharmacist refused to give his name, so I will describe him: Asian male, height between 5'3" and 5'5", very short black hair and thin frame. read more

I was quite glad about my stop at Walgreens! I was wondering whether I needed to go to a Rite Aid or Walmart or someplace to get my prescription for my dental medication but Walgreens happened to be right next to my dentist area so I walked in. I was expecting at minimum 1+ hour wait for my prescriptions because that's how long it has usually taken me in the past, with any kind of prescription. I was thrown off-guard when the kind lady said it would at most take 15 minutes! I was like woo, nice. Because I had to go to school later during the day and needed my antibiotics since I had a tooth extracted. It was a good day. Walgreens made my day even better. read more

A MAN'S MAN Review of the Walgreens pharmacy This is my preferred choice for picking up my prescriptions. I believe I get VIP treatment because strangely there is a dude that works at the pharmacy that looks just like me! It's like looking in a mirror and I see my reflection. It's crazy but it gets me red carpet service so why complain? Okay, check this out! My name is Andrew but when I walk into this particular Walgreens the employees start to call me Anson but sometimes I think they are saying Hanson. I better get my hearing checked out but any who... it's all probably because I look like the guy in the pharmacy. Not sure but he's fuuugly and I'm good looking. Good service from the pharmacy staff. Never had any problems but I did notice that if there was any problems the staff were quick to correct the problem and it was not the mistake of the pharmacy but on the other end of the stick with other customers. I've witness this old goat moan & complain about having to wait for his prescription. I'm pretty sure the pharmacy staff puts up with a lot of people who complain about not getting their Viagra, purple bombers, or the yellow pills, or whatever. Each visit I get my prescription in less than 15mins... sometimes less than that. I'mma make this weird but I'll tell it anyways. The pharmacist will take the time to explain about the medication that you've picked up. I had to politely decline when he asked if I needed verbal instructions on how to apply this anti-itch cream that I had to get for an itch. Didn't say I was gonna make this weird? Forgot? The pharmacy manager is a boss tho! He's probably some girl's man crush on Instagram like hash tag man crush Mondays (i.e. @tpwang #mcm) and the pharmacy staff is always professional and polite to me. It's probably because I'm a beautiful person. Okay, maybe not. It's most likely because there's a guy that looks like me that works at the pharmacy. His name is Anson or Hanson. Recommended for all your health & beauty needs! The Walgreens also has plenty of other junk that you most likely will not need but you'll still buy anyways. There's your health & beauty needs along with other basic necessities. Photo printing and developing, cosmetics, personal hygiene, foods, drinks, lurkers in the parking lot, Redbox rental on the outside of the Walgreens, flu shots issued by Illuminati. Parking is good. This is my go to pharmacy and for emergency items due to its convenient location. I have never walked in for prescriptions. I have always used their drive-thru and every visit has been quick and convenient. Pharmacy staff is also friendly. For other things, I am always greeted when I enter the store. I am always asked if there is anything I may need help in finding, etc. My trips here are always a breeze and pain free :) read more

Since when do any of these products require PHOTO RETOUCHING $3.99?! I didn't notice until I got home to check to see if they accidentally scanned my polish twice. Today, my mother (a small white woman) came into this store and asked to use their restroom (while I waited in the truck). She was directed to the restroom, where a different associate met her and opened the restroom for her. She then, perused throughout the store and picked up a couple of items, bringing them to check out. As I seen her come out, I thought that I should pick up a soft drink and also use the restroom before we headed out to a 45 minute trip. I entered the store, made eye contact and said "hello" to the cashier and immediately said "excuse me, but which way is the restroom?". The cashier quickly looked scaled her sight down my 6ft3", with brown skinned body, and without looking up said "we don't have a restroom". And proceeded to invite the next customer up. I asked, "what do you mean you don't have a restroom? My mother was just in here and used it." She says, "we don't have a public restroom". I said again, "yes you do, my mother JUST used it." I immediately said, "is there a reason why you would let my mother, who is the same skin color as you use the restroom, and not someone that looks like me?" She then called a manager. The manager Kathleen came up and asked what the problem was. The cashier began telling her that I was a problem. I then say to Kathleen, "i just want to know why she is denying me access to your restroom, when you just allowed my mother to use it. I plan on buying something to drink, if that's the problem, but", when I was interrupted by Kathleen the MOD. "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to leave or else I'm going to call the police, we don't have a restroom you can use". I immediately said, "call the police, I haven't done anything wrong. But why would you allow my Caucasian mother to use the restroom and not me? Is this because of how I look?" *by the way, I was dressed like I was going to a Sunday youth group at church*. She says, as she walks the phone "I Will". Then proceeds to pick up the phone and call the police. I asked for her store number and left so I could find a place to pee. I don't understand why I place I give weekly business to, or that operates in the year 2017 in the melting pot of Washington (Tacoma), would treat me in such a way. If they had denied us both service, perhaps I would understand. But to deny me simply because I am a minority or younger or am male or was wearing socks, or any other unexplainable/inexcusable reason, baffles me. I have been in pharmacy retail management for 13 years and never denied someone the respect of proper human waste disposal...especially because of how they looked . He is the only pharmacist that actually cares, and goes above and beyond to satisfy his customers. People complaining about wait times don't understand sometimes it is out of the pharmacy's control. I used to come here mostly for the pharmacy, then I switched to Safeway. The pharmacy is way too busy, not sure if its a lack of organization, or lack of staff. Thney would call me and tell me my scrip was ready, I would come over for pick up and have to wait AN HOUR to get it. After a year of this, my understanding had disappeared. I transferred my scrip to Safeway and have been pleased ever since, in and out in under 5 minutes! read more

I dropped of a prescription for insulin at 6pm because my husband ran out and is numbers were in the 400's. I showed up at 8:45pm (per their time request) to pick up his prescription and was greeted by the rudest technician ever!! 'Ashton' first told me that he didn't have a prescription, then after arguing with me for 10 minutes, found his prescription and said that it had the wrong name on it (and yet it wasn't even the same type of insulin).... So, the only conclusion I have is that they lost his prescription and found someone else's to fake that it was written wrong. Anyway's I asked why I wasn't called when they realized that it had the wrong name, and his reply was "why didn't you verify it before you dropped it off".... WTH!! Is this really customer service. At this point he said that they need to wait until tomorrow to call the dr to get a new prescription... so now my husband doesn't get any insulin tonight. And then he proceeded to hang up the drive thru phone, turn off all the lights, and put a sign in the window all while I was still trying to get this handled. He then picked up the phone again and said "did you need something else?", I told him that my husband needs his insulin. He said "I'm on over time now, come back tomorrow ", then hung up the phone and walked away!!! What a horrible practice. If these are the people you hire Walgreens. I will not be back. read more

This store is awful. I wouldn't normally shop at Walgreens but this place is terribly close to my work and I pop in from time to time on my lunch break. Usually I can deal with the crappy service and carry on with my day but today made me decide I will never come back to this store. I was waiting in line behind a woman who had a difficult transaction for about 15 minutes. As the line behind me grew a manager, Rob, came up to help sort out the mess the lady in front of me created. As he walked off and the cashier wrapped up the transaction both the manager and another employee started pulling patrons from the back of the line to be checked out at other registers completely ignoring the people at the front of the line who had been waiting for 15 minutes. Terrible service. I won't come back to this location. Go to Bartells, I've never had bad service there. read more

I don't know what these other people are talking about. Yes, this Walgreens is in a harsher part of Tacoma (the Health Dept is across the street and its on Pacific Hwy what can you say?) But the people have *always* have been nice and helpful. There was my christmas cards that needed to be set up and they helped me with that, the cosmetic ladies are always helping and asking if I can find anything. The stock people always will look for something I am looking for in the ads. The pharmacy staff is wonderful. The manager, Charlie is knowledgeable and speaks english just fine along with another language at least. The Techs know me very well. I have used this store for years and it has only gotten better. Its not the store its the area, blame Tacoma, not this store. I like Walgreens for its fair prices and the staff here is amazing considering them dealing with transients. You can be in front of the pick up counter and they just continue their conversations between themselves as if your not even there!!! Horrible experience!!! My boyfriend and I came here a few minutes before they closed because I ran out of my contact solution and needed to grab some more. As I'm looking for the right one, a woman worker comes up to my boyfriend and accuses him of stealing and asks him to empty his pockets!! As we proceeded to tell her that he didn't take anything a woman from the front counted yells across the store proclaiming she saw him do it in the mirror.. I was just in this Walgreens and have shopped here often but after today I probably won't ever go back. I went in looking for Kleenex and I walked out with probably more of a cold then when I started my visit. The cashier missjesse was eating and drinking while ringing a customer up then she was hacking a lung while ringing my stuff up. It was disgusting. There was no santizer used in between handling food into her mouth and coughing. I don't appreciate the spread of germs and I don't like the thought that this lady has now touched all of my merchandise. Great location is why I go here. The Pharmacy is top notch! My prescriptions are always done on time! Most of their employees are awesome and know me! (apparently I go there too often) but because of the old man with glasses. The one who looks like the Stapler guy from the movie Office space, I hate going here. He's down right rude. Follows you around the store and on multiple occasions has confronted me about stealing for no reason! I'm not a thief! I've called him out a few times for harassment.
